Imagine how the people who played 1.0 to the end felt logging in or coming to Uldah and were greeted with this playing in the background, I would have freaked out.
...you have no idea. And Dalamud just kept getting bigger and bigger and no one knew why. Then, when it finally sunk it this was happening? This song. Everywhere. Forever, till the end. I'll never forget it.
I'll never forget logging in and using my Aetheryte ticket to my GC place, only to be met with Answers. I freaked out and sent a shout asking what was going on. Others were in the same boat, so I didn't feel totally dumb. Thankfully, we got a quick response it was just an event. Sent chills down my spine.
Yeah this happens every year around the anniversary of the original server shut down to the new FFXIV. Fucking amazing. An echo back when they had a countdown timer to the shutdown. The red star in the sky got closer and this song would play in various/all zones, but no one knew what was actually happening. Then it shut down and the newer version of the game launched. YoshiP is a genious.
@@myrrhs01 "but no one knew what was actually happening", the people knew, there were multiple events before the shutdown thematizing the shutdown
@@rodionchrome7446 We literally didn't believe they were actually going to go through with it. I was there. Don't spread lies, thanks.
I never got to play the original FF14, but I would imagine how creepy and somber it must have felt to be there knowing there was nothing you could do to stop the end. At least it made way for ARR to pick up the pieces.
Log in right now and you can experience this
@@bellringer53 how? I must know.
@@Dragnarok1 during the Rising event they have it play in each city states event area.
Post endwalker it was STUPIDLY haunting
@@bellringer53 and this 'event' is still available?
@@Dragnarok1 it ended at the end of September. It should be back next year. And given it's the 10th anniversary it will probably be a very interesting one
Which kind of terrifys me 😅
... I feel like this is appropriate music for my last sleep before Endwalker.
Even more fitting now huh? Don't wanna spoil things in case you didn't finish it, but man, answers feels so much more powerful after beating it
Honestly, I recommend that anyone sleep to this the night before they start 6.0 content, because FUCK, it’s more fitting than you know
Everybody gangsta until the MSQ pulls this out
[SPOILERS]
*Cries in Papalymo.*
Then anyone with a heart cries.
Yup!
Then they're all:
Nonononono! Waitwaitwaitwait!
I'm so new to this game, but it just crushes me. I'm sitting here crying through this song and I'm not even sure why - I haven't even gotten to Shadowbringers yet, where it seems most people really get gut-punched by feels. This song is just... it's like something irreplaceable and precious falls to the bottom of your soul and shatters.
Endwalker is where this song is gonna take your heart and throw it in a bledner
same, im just a sprout in hw and man this song kinda makes me bawling, might be pandemic and crap
like
why do we suffer
its oddly bittersweet song
@@Veritanky there's a lot of themes in FF XIV that hit you in the feels. there's also a lot of moments that do the same too. but that's what makes FF XIV such a great game.
@@framinthor Nope, It will happen before. 5.3 and that.
Oh boy get ready for Endwalker then.
the only thing missing from this are the humm of the Garlaian ships over head and the constant raging thunderstorm
LYRICS:
To all of my children in whom Life flows abundant
To all of my children to whom Death hath passed his judgement
The soul yearns for honor, and the flesh the hereafter
Look to those who walked before to lead those who walk after
Shining is the Land's light of justice
Ever flows the Land's well of purpose
Walk free, walk free, walk free, believe...
The Land is alive, so believe...
I could only imagine what it must of been like to log into the game to be greeted with darkening skies and this ringing in your ears.
Still heart breaking. Genuine speaking, this is a tune that sums up a lot of the last 3 years. Nothing but hate and disgust for one another. If anyone is reading this, I beg you, be the change humanity needs. It all starts with asking how someone feels. Because I if we keep going this way, I believe humanity will cause their own calamity at this rate
this and dragonsong capture the feeling so perfectly
There is still hope friend. Even though hatred is indeed dominant nowadays, some people are starting to actually figure out what is going on. One day, people will see how pointless all this hatred actually is. As song says despite its beautiful sadness and eeriness, "Believe".
I never played the 1.0 version, nor even at the time of it knew about the final fantasy's as a whole's existence. But now, after playing FFXIV and loving it and seeing just clips of the 1.0 version, I get chills from this track. I can just imagine myself loging in to the game that faithful day and witnessing the fucking end of the world. And this theme, it's just filled with hopelessness but also acceptence. The world that I would love will cease and it can't be stopped, so you just have to praise the end and hope your end it merciful.
But now, playing through FFXIV, knowing the calamity happened and what it looked like, I'm just grief everyone in the world. I love this game with all my heart, and this history is a one of a kind.
And knowing what 1.0 was like and how the blaze of glory that ended it also was the springboard for Yoshi-P to catapult this game to the lofty heights it now occupies, even beating WoW…Would you really have it any other way?
@@benjaminschroeder5465 and in so doing it kills the feeling of adventure and story in this game.
The only problem is that this "calamity" didn't change a thing in Eorzea. No destruction, no lava, no New areas. As I understood for my time in this game - Yoshi-P is drastically afraid of changing something.
During the Rising event you can hear this in Gridania's Mih Khetto's Amphitheatre
I started playing XIV last year and remember hearing this play in Ul’dah! I never knew the name of the track until now
Where does it play in uldah?
@@stars-and-clouds it was during The Rising 2020 event around the Ruby Road Exchange
The Orchestrion in-game is just titled "Answers - Reprise" if ever you want it in your house :)
I was looking for this kind of extension for years.
Thank you very much for this.
My first time playing this game back in 2020, and when I heard this I almost wept. Such beauty, such sorrow...The memories of the fallen. We can't...we *won't* forget.
_Remember... That we once lived..._
The first time I played the trial in like 2014-15 was during this event, and I remember walking past mih khetto's and hearing this and I was just frozen in place by how haunting and beautiful it was. Though I didn't play after that, I ended up picking up the game in 2016 with friends and have played ever since.
I'll never forget the first moment I played and heard this.
I heard this and got hella ptsd it definitely hits different watching the giant red meteor fall back then :/
It brings me PTSD for something I haven't experienced.
@@bamcki991 Same, I never experienced the end days of 1.0 but a friend of mine did and anytime it plays he almost cries when it does, when it played back during 3.5(?) at Shinryu's summoning that scared the heck out of him (and likely most 1.0 vets) for very obvious reasons.
This is one song I'll never forget, or stop enjoying listening to it. Always makes me feel better.
The song hits hard, no matter when you hear it, even moreso with recent personal events and post endwalker. It hits in a different way, and yet even harder.
When the world is in near end, and as the people settle their differences and join forces in stopping a terrible dark fate, this song will echo into the heavens as tears will flow either in happiness and sadness in their final waking moments...
This is the song we heard before the first version of FFXIV closed its doors. We are also called the Legacy Players.
what was it like?
@@christopherbravo1813 It was both sad and exciting. Sad because we had to say goodbye to the FFXIV we'd known (despite all the known problems) but also exciting because it was epic and announcing a rebirth to come.
@@EmetSelch. what exactly were you doing during the final days of 1.0? fighting? going on quests? waiting for the world to end?
@@christopherbravo1813 Random monsters hordes attacked the cities, players rushed to defend, "The Great Goobbue Wall", and finally accepting the inevitable. I remembered that the servor's name was "Cornelia". It was so epic and unprecedented in the history of MMORPGs
@@EmetSelch. I keep hearing about that. what was "The Great Goobbue Wall" like?
also, what was your player username?
Hearing this after beating EW and Post actually made me shed a tear, this song is so damn good
If your avatar has a tattoo, you are a survivor... (having a tattoo means you witnessed the end, and your character is one of a kind, transfered to new Eorzea, it can not be removed.)
Stopped playing years ago. Don't remember the graphics being this good 0_o
This stuff is really harsh when you're high. You can literally close your eyes and imagine it!
#Don'tdodrugs :p
I wonder if we'll hear this again from 5.55 - 6.0 or if Susan will have another song for this, or if they'll choose a male singer this time. Or if they'll just completely drop the ball and miss the opportunity entirely.
You think Yoshi P or Soken would let that ball go ANYWHERE near dropping? Nah fam, they're gonna do something that knocks our socks off.
Turns out they *are* using it as bfm in certain areas and cutscenes in Endwalker. I won't say more to not spoil things.
Thank you.
All I can hear with this track now is Ilberd. A haunting track to play alongside the cries of a desperate madman.
Yeah this track reminds me of that scene with Papalymo. Probably the first time I felt real emotion towards this game
Cute Lalafell.
Walk free... There's nothing more to say...
nice
What event was that?
The end of 1.0. This played in the cities, and a version of it, accompanied by roiling skies, thunder, the ever present rumble of Garlean airships, and the menacing countenance of Dalamud hanging heavy in the sky, in the process of being brought down on Eorzea. There were waves of monsters attacking the cities, and system messages detailing the frantic and ultimately doomed efforts to hold the calamity at bay. Eventually (and you can find videos of this on UA-cam) it ended with a countdown to shutdown, and when the hammer fell, everyone entered a cutscene, and a version of the ARR intro movie of Dalamud falling and breaking apart over Carteneau played. Then the servers went down permanently.
@@nessanderson6460 "Burn it."
@@nessanderson6460 I thought the rumbling was the sound of Dalamud itself breaking through the atmosphere? Or maybe I read that wrong.
@@holy8782 multiple sources of rumbling.

This song still gives me goosebumps.
