I still remember when these carriages came to the Mornington Railway in the early 2000's for the Ned Kelly movie. We used them on our regular Sunday service, I was only a new guard back then, its a highlight I will never forget.
Well if your looking for a locomotive with old passenger cars to run that still runs heres the video with old passenger cars back from 1900 and quickly if you want to ride them beflre they gone
Boy do they look their age, that 6 wheel setup seems so odd, no bogies, just the wheels straight on to the chassis, king of makes me wonder what trickery was done with the centre set so they could go around corners.
Till the 1870s all passenger cars had 4 or 6 wheels on the VR. The large fleets of E,W & PL cars in the early 1900s saw most of these fixed wheelers removed from service, by the 1920s. A few survived in use for longer, but most ancient cars survived because they were allocated to works stock like sleeping quarters, after removal from passenger service. Suburban electrification saw the end of fixed wheelers on suburban trains. But prior to 1910 (Tait introduction) The Swing Door trains would have been top of the heap, above the many fixed wheelers still on steam suburban service.
Love it, thank you 😊 pure raw exhaust, volume up!! Beautiful old passenger carriages ❤
I took a ride on the second run. It sounded great

Was surprised that they ran long nose forward to Maldon, with a turntable at Castlemaine
Maybe crew preference. I know some like long end leading

Very odd. We are still lucky to have them!
