Bring back the old steam whistle. Modern ones just pale to anything but that roar through the country side. We live at Bald Hills so we hear them on the Creswick line occasionally.
They do have a great and distinct sound to them. 👍😀

G'day l hope they open up the line from Dunolly too Mildura one day it was one of those long train rides l loved too go on, Thanks for that part of the trip, last weekend's train ride through that countryside was wonderful still green before the Summer heat hits hard, cheers mate keep safe, Neil 🤠.
Who knows if Mildura will get a passenger service again, plenty of people pushing it. Time will tell. Glad you enjoyed it 👍😀
Great to hear her chugging away on Gooseberry Hill, and then racing away down the other side, like there's no tomorrow. Sorry to inform you, but there never was a stop at Havelock nor Simpson, they were deemed too close to Maryborough to warrant a stop, there may have been before 1954 when my family moved to Maryborough, but there certainly wasn't after 1954
They were there but closed early in history. I list all the places that existed at some point. Very happy you enjoyed the ride 👍 😀
Ah, Maryborough. Mark Twain described it as "A Railway Station with a town attached".
That is certainly appropriate 😀👍
That is the fiction invented by a newspaper around 1940 adhering to the media maxim of never let the facts get in the way of a good story.
What Mark Twain actually said in his book that had a description of visiting Maryborough is quite different.
A search will not show the town attached quote appearing before the 1940s.

Lots of people in love with steam turned out. Nice to see. I did laugh as it looked as if you steamed far past the CFA firies waiting with their hoses to I assume rewater your tender tanks
There were lots of people that turned out. The fire brigade were there to replenish the water supply. I wasn't actually the driver of this one. 😀 Glad you enjoyed it 👍 😀
They shud have a smokers van with open air and a bar guess how full it wud be :) cant imagine travelling to darwin by train no smokersvan sheez why we dont use trains
This was a tourist train and had a buffet car. It was full of people on tour. 😀😀👍
