That was like his 4th encore of the night... you asked for prime Prince, you do realize that he dropped 42 studio albums (not including his live and video albums)... you will be enjoying his music for a VERY long time. He was (in my opinion) the most prolific popular musical artist of our time.

    • @patrickvillafuerte7943
      @patrickvillafuerte7943 Рік тому

Totally agree. That's not including the music he gave other artists or didn't release as well. He claimed the unreleased stuff wasn't good enough but I'm sure it was solid, just not to his high standard.

The Sign O the Times live concert is pretty amazing from I think 1987 but there are some quality videos on UA-cam from it. There are also really good show videos of everything from his big concerts to some of his live appearances on talk shows where he is just sitting playing acoustic by himself which are just so good. Either way, cant go wrong...i was fortunate to see him live in 2014 and i feel bad for everyone now who wont be able to experience it anymore

A white band called "Wild Cherry" originally did this song called Play that funky music! Prince did a fantastic job on his version of the song. Prince Rogers Nelson is a musical genius! I love me some Prince. Prince can play over 27 different instruments. He sings, writes, produces, and dances etc. I have always been a huge fan. I love, and miss him so very much. RIP Prince 🙏💜💜💜💜💜🔥🔥🔥🔥🙏

Great reaction again! Prince is absolutely incredible and it really shows in this performance! It is incredible to see him walking around that huge stage with all of the different musicians playing their instruments and to know that Prince could walk up to any of them at any point, ask for their instrument, and play a solo that could blow the roof off of that place is just incredible. I just recently found out this little piece of info so I thought I'd share it. Prince was all self-taught on all of the instruments he played and he couldn't read music. He taught himself how to play piano, his first instrument, when he was just 7 years old! According to Prince childhood friends, he could play piano and guitar, two instruments, very well by age 11. By age 12, the following year, he had taught himself how to play 20 instruments. That means Prince, in only one year, at age 11, taught himself to play 18 instruments with no lessons, no books, just listening to the radio and records, holding the instruments, and playing along! Prince himself admitted that he mastered 20 instruments by the age of 12! That is incredible! He had such speed with how he picked up things. Also, one time according to his staff at his home and recording studio. Prince was recording a song and he wanted to have a harp track and solo played throughout the song. Prince, at this point, had never picked up the harp before, so he hired a professional harpist to play on the track. The harpist, for whatever reason, could not play the solo the way Prince wanted, so he thanked her and sent her on her way. After she left, Prince turned to his staff and said, "Well. I still need a harp." So his staff ordered a full-sized harp and had it delivered to his home/studio. He opened the box, took the harp out, and brought it into his studio. He then fiddled around with the harp for about five-ten minutes, then, according to his staff who were present, he hit play on the track and proceeded to play the entire harp track and solo that even the professional couldn't play. He had never picked it up before that moment! If that doesn't scream "GENIUS" then I don't know what does! Sorry if this comment is too long, there is just so much information to learn about him. You should check out "America - Live 1985" That is Prince at the top of his game according to many people, although personally, I don't think he was ever not at the top of his game! That would be a great reaction!!! Thanks, sorry again for the super long comment.

@Sherylanne Bonczek To be fair Music was in Prince's genes, he was the son of jazz singer Mattie Della (née Shaw) and pianist and songwriter John Lewis Nelson.
His father's stage name was "Prince Rogers". Prince came from a very musical family background.
      RIP Prince.

Prince’s music videos and studio tracks were cool. BUT what separates him from every artist before, during, and since he passed away in 2016 was his LIVE PERFORMANCES 💜 As you dive deeper in his catalog you will see as you already know that he wrote, arranged, composed, and performed along with playing several instruments 😉💜

Prince played all 21 instruments on his debut album "FOR YOU" (1978) and subsequent albums throughout his career with help from The Revolution and various variations of The N.P.G. The man could do it ALL by himself if he so wished. There'll never be another one like him. I was lucky enough to have seen him live 18 times throughout my life from 1990 - 2014. Hands down the greatest live performer EVER.

You should check out I Could Never Take the Place Of Your Man from the Sign Of the Times concert film. That for most Prince fans is the time of his artistic prime (although he still continued making some great songs through to his death in 2016). You say you like guitar solos this one is pretty great and it's beautifully filmed with perfect audio. Or check out All The Critics Love You In Montreux from 2009. It's a track I show to anyone who doesn't get Prince - if that doesn't change their mind nothing will. It's from 2009 so his body had started to cause him trouble so he was concentrating on showcasing his musicianship and band more. No more dancing but INCREDIBLE playing.

This is just 100 % pure joy! Love watching you enjoy it and get the 'feels'. Prince could stir up any emotion inside you. This just makes you want to put that 'funk face' on and get dancing! The guitar and bass solos are magnificent. Try this one ...Prince - Super Bowl Halftime Show 2007 FULL SHOW. Watch the full 13 minute set. This is ranked as the best Super Bowl show in history, and since 2007, only Beyonce comes anywhere close in matching it i think. It rained so hard, was windy and was very dangerous on a slippery stage (him and his dancers in high heels) , also very dangerous playing live guitars. Electricity and water, not a good mix! Apparently the 3 guitars he played, never played properly again. When Prince was told about the weather forecast, he said “Can you make it rain harder?” Legend!

The stage isn't shaped in "8", that would have been too casual for Prince. It's shaped in "Love Symbol", the name he used during his feud with Warner Bros (the artist formerly known as Prince) and a shape he created.
Well, since you said you're a hip-hop head, there's a very short snippet of Digital Underground's "Humpty Dance" bass line (the dooo-weee part) at 11:33. DU also sampled him, especially the scream from "Sexuality" in "Doowutchyalike" and "She's always in my hair" on "Sex packets".

The song play that funky music white boy was written by Robert Parissi for the band "Wild Cherry" in the 70's but prince was in one of many artists who performed it only once I think in LA Inglewood at the Forum home of the LA Lakers then.
Saw prince live 1987 what a talent probably the greatest musical talent I've ever seen. Check out out some of his live performances on UA-cam. Yes he's a great guitarist but him on keyboard or piano, priceless. What a talent.
How much so, he wrote so many hit songs for other famous artists.

Yes Prince plays 27 instruments. The amount of creativity, passion, vision, songwriting, and arrangement skills Prince showed to create albums was unparalleled. We are going to list the instruments he played on “For You”.
    Electric guitar
    Acoustic guitar
    Bass
    Bass synth
    Singing bass
    Fuzz bass
    Electric piano
    Acoustic piano
    Minimoog
    Polymoog
    ARP String Ensemble
    ARP Pro Soloist
    Oberheim Four Voice
    Clavinet
    Drums
    Syndrums
    Water drums
    Slapsticks
    Bongos
    Congas
    Finger cymbals
    Wind chimes
    Orchestral bells
    Woodblocks
    Brush trap
    Hand claps
    Finger snaps
Even though Prince was so gifted in playing various instruments, the best way to view his creativity is through the quality of music he created rather than just the number of instruments he could play. If you only take into account the number of instruments, you can see that even a regular percussionist can play around 20 of them. Later on in his career, Prince had also played instruments such as organ, harmonica, and flute.

He was homeless at the age of twelve and knew nobody was going to be there for him but himself and set a gruelling work ethic to be the best at what he could do, music. He was a hard band leader and demanded perfection but when you are playing with the best you get motivated to do better. He wrote a song, recorded it and produced it and put it in the vault nearly every day. Over 8000 unreleased songs plus albums and films along with filmed concerts and rehearsals I the vault. Every genre of music played. Brilliant jazz player. Listen to his first engineer for five years at the beginning and listen to her explain his work ethic and talent. No other musician was so prolific. He wrote many top songs for other musicians.

Watch his movie Purple Rain. He was twenty four and it shot him to fame. He was abused and made to leave his home at 12. The mother of his best friend took him in. He was quite an enigma as he was shy, very polite and clean living but could do hood if needed. After Purple Rain he used the money made to build Paisley Park, a three recording studio and film making facility. He never left his home town. A great solo is Bambi in Tokyo.
