I don't think he ever regarded Grievous as a true apprentice. He trained him to wield lightsabers, but never planned to use him in any capacity other than a killing machine. He had big plans with Ventress and Savage.
@@nahor88 agreed, Grievious was useful as a general and as a Jedi killer, but based on how Ventress dismissed his skills and his lack of ability to use the force, it is unlikely that Grievous was ever really considered an apprentice. In addition, Savage seemed to mostly be a blunt tool he intended to wield for now just as Maul was to Sidious. Whether or not that was to change in the future is unknown. I would say Ventress was the one most likely to be considered a true Sith apprentice while Qui-Gon was obviously a successful Jedi apprentice.
They should create a TCW style show that shows the events before TPM. We would see Dooku as a Jedi, and other characters like Yoda Mace, Qui gon, Palpatine and maybe even Plagueis
It was a very good twist from the Empire Strikes Back when Savage said that lifting the rocks was impossible AFTER Dooku lifted them. And not before like when Yoda lifted the ship.
I actually thought it would've been an interesting story to see Savage continue being Dooku's Apprentice, that would've been incredible, especially a fully trained Savage.
I wish we had like an alternate dimension or time travel series that explored these What Ifs? If Dooku continued training Savage, if Dogma hadn’t killed Krell, if Padme had died to the Blue Shadow Virus? Like Marvel’s What If, but y’know, not terrible.

Savage was only his apprentice for a few weeks, at most a month or two. Imagine if he allied himself with Dooku and was fully trained by him, he and Maul could have stood a much greater chance against Sidious.
This is actually really interesting. When lifting the stone weights Savage makes pretty much the exact same statement as Luke in episode 5 i.e. the task is "impossible". Both Yoda and Dooku say basically same thing in response, that the task is only impossible because they think its impossible.
Dooku was Yoda's apprentice. The more you watch this show the more you see the complexity and depth they added to the Star Wars universe. Excellent writing.
2:02 - I love such moments when we can see a shade of yellow in Dooku’s eyes which indicates him as a Sith) you may have seen the same shade of yellow when he screamed “Never!” to Mother Talzin, while she was torturing him)
The Sith training technique isn’t even a technique. It’s purely menacing. Insulting your apprentice and making them mad so they can use their anger and hatred.
I love how the music spikes when Dooku shocks Savage, especially the second last time when the choir kicks in. It really shows how powerful Force Lightning is since it can basically incapacitate most foes.
Honestly I'm more scared of apprentices trained by dooku then any other sith lord besides Sidious, Like shit man he actually wants his trainee to learn and to get better, he teaches through words and infromation than just Zap Zap.
"You have no technique, sloppy. But with the proper training, you could be a powerful warrior." I love how Dooku's words to Savage mirrors Anakin's first words to Ahsoka "You're reckless, little one, you would've never made it as Obi-Wan's padawan. But you might make it as mine."
You know what's cool is that Savage likely made his double bladed lightsaber out of the crystals that belonged to the two Jedi he killed at the end of the last episode
I love how this shows that the sith r not savage monsters/barbarians the Jedi of old have classified as. They actually have technique, intelligence, and a real philosophy/wisdom
I’d love to see how a nightsister trains in magick. It’d be awesome to see Cal and Merrin have a kid together and the kid learns Jedi and Nightsister powers.
The thing about Savage is that he doesn't take his time about studying his opponents moves and trying to counter them. It seems like he waists all his power on slow heavy strikes
You know, Ventress used to be a Jedi. If the Jedi offered better psychological support to her, she won't have fallen to the dark side. The Jedi council needs a inquiry to look at why so many of them find the Dark side appealing, not just react like shocked Pikachu when yet another Jedi has fallen.
Dooku's apperentice was never seen as a sith and he also wasn't trained as a sith either, where as maul was and he was training Savage as a sith apperentice.
Dooku wasn't training Savage as a sith lord, he was trying him to be a sith assassin, more of just a tool to use and be half-way expendable. Maul took savage on as a apprentice, and most importantly he did it in secret.
X Infinity Darkside user or dark Jedi are forceusers who use darkside of the force, as for the sith they are an order of darkside user who have set of rules and a sith code they must follow.
Savage has a lot of stamina, strength, Force power and fights with tremendous aggression, so he is naturally suited for Juyo, the Ferocity form. Why did Dooku teach him Makashi, the Contention form, which emphasizes finesse and self control ? Why teach a rank amateur a technique that plays against all his strengths ? I thought Dooku was one of greatest swordmasters, with a preference for Makashi and a functional knowledge of all forms, apart from being an excellent and experienced instructor. He should have known this was a terrible approach.
Sherlock Holmes Its true that a great warrior learns to adapt away his weaknesses and hide away patterns, but at the same time, he had yet to develop his strengths. In other words, I see Juyo as his basic, core technique and Makashi as an indispensable skill to make him a well rounded duelist.
it's quite simple. Juyo is strong against Makashi, Count Dooku's signature form. Since Savage is using a dual bladed lightsaber, he is a user of Niman which is weaker against Makashi.
Dooku would likely only give minimal teaching in Form V, as he personally believed in the importance of developing one's own style and personalized use of a certain form rather than adhering to textbook mastery of a form thus making one predictable in battle. Dooku would've given Savage minimal Form V training, giving him incentive to come up with his own unique application of the form that would become better and better with time. Dooku knew that if Savage could one day use his own Form V skill to outfence him one day, then Savage would be ready to beat just about anyone. Almost a shame that Savage didn't finish his training with Dooku. Lets not forget this is Sith training. Not exactly designed to be fair. Sith training is designed to essentially be nothing short of physical, emotional and psychological torture- designed to destroy who they were before and rebuild them from the ground up as ruthless killing machines.
This scene really illustrates the Sith learning process. When savage told Dooku he hated him and Dooku said "Good..." that gave me a chill.
+Will M (Acclimate) And when he shocks him again, I always imagine Dooku adding, "Now hate me MORE!"

It’s made for fencing
Or rather Dooku’s preferred lightsaber form, Form 2 Makashi
Like fencing, it’s swift, precise, maneuverable. The lightsaber of Curved to make it even easier for the curving blows or blocks, to make it even more maneuverable
@@christophersanchez7731 well curved hilts in general are just more comfortable and fits more naturally in the palm
So, mauls double saber in rebels, it's a combination of Savage's and his original. Just realized that.
Well, Maul's new lightsaber is that of an Inquisitor's with the spinning mechanic removed.
Thaal Sinestro Look at Savage's hilt it looks more like a combination of that and mauls original one
corysyourman Right, but Maul's new lightsaber literally is a modified Inquisitor lightsaber.
You can look at the official images from the SW designers' desks online. They are Inquisitor sabers
@@Dakeryas95 I choose to believe your comment to cool
Damn I never realized Dooku had 4 apprentices. Qui-Gon, Ventress, Grievous, and Savage.
I don't think he ever regarded Grievous as a true apprentice. He trained him to wield lightsabers, but never planned to use him in any capacity other than a killing machine. He had big plans with Ventress and Savage.
@@nahor88 also not to mention the small posse of dark acolytes
@@nahor88 agreed, Grievious was useful as a general and as a Jedi killer, but based on how Ventress dismissed his skills and his lack of ability to use the force, it is unlikely that Grievous was ever really considered an apprentice. In addition, Savage seemed to mostly be a blunt tool he intended to wield for now just as Maul was to Sidious. Whether or not that was to change in the future is unknown. I would say Ventress was the one most likely to be considered a true Sith apprentice while Qui-Gon was obviously a successful Jedi apprentice.
@@nahor88 Padawan, my apologies.
He had many students, but only a few were apprentices.
I've gotta say, Savage's lightsaber has my absolute favorite humming and swinging sounds. I love the gritty tone it has.
Then: Savage being toasted
Now: Franklin being roasted

Would have been nice to see Dooku as a Jedi in more media.
Kargath Bladefist (WoD) It will probably happen a bit more eventually.
Please give flashbacks season 7 of TCW!!!
It would have been an interesting skin for EA's Battlefront 2, but they suck at everything.
They should create a TCW style show that shows the events before TPM. We would see Dooku as a Jedi, and other characters like Yoda Mace, Qui gon, Palpatine and maybe even Plagueis
@@joseluis5055
And give them a chance to muck up continuity further? No thanks!
This duel between Dooku and Savage is a proper version of "How the Rey vs Kylo Ren fight should have ended".
Exactly
I just released dooku's eyes truned yellow at 1:57
It was a very good twist from the Empire Strikes Back when Savage said that lifting the rocks was impossible AFTER Dooku lifted them. And not before like when Yoda lifted the ship.
2:02
These are the only scenes where we actually see Doku with Sith eyes caused by giving in to his hatred.....
He does not like Savage
Savage: "Lifting two stones is impossible!"
Dooku, who lifted a dozen of them literally ten seconds earlier: "Am I a joke to you?"
I my the only one that would want to see savage stay as dokos apprentice it would be an interesting story
I actually thought it would've been an interesting story to see Savage continue being Dooku's Apprentice, that would've been incredible, especially a fully trained Savage.
@@YousufKhanPR sidious would have simply eliminated him if eve became too much a threat
I wish we had like an alternate dimension or time travel series that explored these What Ifs? If Dooku continued training Savage, if Dogma hadn’t killed Krell, if Padme had died to the Blue Shadow Virus? Like Marvel’s What If, but y’know, not terrible.
0:23 me watching the lightsaber fights in the new Star Wars trilogy
"Sloppy!"
As if the lightsaber fights haven’t always been sloppy and unrealistic
@@mphylo2296 no they haven’t actually. Not to the degree in which the new ones showed
@@drakewinters4 You really wanna die on this hill? Rewatch the Mustafar duel for example. So much useless flourishing and spinning on the spot. Most of the time they’re swinging at thin air, although this is a problem with all the duels in Star Wars. I get it. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.
@@mphylo2296 there was nothing sloppy about that fight. To the untrained eye yes. Even if I gave you the benefit of the doubt that lightsaber duel > any duel in the new trilogy. That’s just a pure fact
Savage was only his apprentice for a few weeks, at most a month or two. Imagine if he allied himself with Dooku and was fully trained by him, he and Maul could have stood a much greater chance against Sidious.
I dont know why, but Dooku saying good when Savage says he hates him cracks me up every time. These Sith live off of hatred, they're addicted to it.
2:38 ah yes, the sacred art of "putting a lightsaber between you and the lightning". Very hard to master
1:41 that’s a lesson dooku took from yoda
This is actually really interesting. When lifting the stone weights Savage makes pretty much the exact same statement as Luke in episode 5 i.e. the task is "impossible". Both Yoda and Dooku say basically same thing in response, that the task is only impossible because they think its impossible.
Dooku was Yoda's apprentice. The more you watch this show the more you see the complexity and depth they added to the Star Wars universe. Excellent writing.
2:02 - I love such moments when we can see a shade of yellow in Dooku’s eyes which indicates him as a Sith) you may have seen the same shade of yellow when he screamed “Never!” to Mother Talzin, while she was torturing him)
2:24 Still weak, he lifted only two stones
That’s more than you can lift.
Not weak when you consider he was being electrocuted at the same time, in addition he was only a novice.
To be fair, that was his first time using the Force.
:(
He could become strong no dooku but strong
1:39 “what you ask is impossible”
He says this to the elderly man who just did what he considered impossible mere seconds ago.
I just realized that dooku has yellow eyes 2:02
They only appear when he’s deeply immersed in the dark side
2:02 Dooku had sith eyes
This has pretty cool parallels to Luke and Yoda in Episode 5. Dooku's counterpart to Yoda's "Do or Do not there is no try is" in 1:44
Count Dooku is Beyond Evil, but you have to say “He is a really good teacher”
To bad Savage had to betray him, they would’ve been unstoppable
The Sith training technique isn’t even a technique. It’s purely menacing. Insulting your apprentice and making them mad so they can use their anger and hatred.
"How does one defend against such power" I love Savage Opress that line was delivered pretty well
I saw his sith eyes for a moment
I love how the music spikes when Dooku shocks Savage, especially the second last time when the choir kicks in. It really shows how powerful Force Lightning is since it can basically incapacitate most foes.
Looks like plankton finally got a hold of Mr. Krabbs...
Interesting to see Savage take the same stance as Qui-Gon who was also taught by Dooku.
Honestly I'm more scared of apprentices trained by dooku then any other sith lord besides Sidious, Like shit man he actually wants his trainee to learn and to get better, he teaches through words and infromation than just Zap Zap.
"You have no technique, sloppy. But with the proper training, you could be a powerful warrior."
I love how Dooku's words to Savage mirrors Anakin's first words to Ahsoka
"You're reckless, little one, you would've never made it as Obi-Wan's padawan. But you might make it as mine."
You know what's cool is that Savage likely made his double bladed lightsaber out of the crystals that belonged to the two Jedi he killed at the end of the last episode
2:02 is the first time I've seen Dooku with sith eyes.
it just makes you think how different he must've been back when he was a Jedi and trained Qui Gon
I love how this shows that the sith r not savage monsters/barbarians the Jedi of old have classified as. They actually have technique, intelligence, and a real philosophy/wisdom
1:38
Its almost like the advice yoda gave to luke when he tried to lift his x-wing out of the swamp
*its as if yoda was dookus master*
H m m m m m m.
I’d love to see how a nightsister trains in magick. It’d be awesome to see Cal and Merrin have a kid together and the kid learns Jedi and Nightsister powers.
When a student says a task is impossible...
Yoda: shows him how it's done
Dooku: Blasts him with lightning
I know how one defends against force lightning. Hold up your saber lol
It looks like yoda training Luke
I can't seem to remember Yoda frying Luke :p
Eggos i think he means the force lifting and Savage then saying what Luke said to Yoda, “you’re asking the impossible”.
@@NYvermin exactly.
The thing about Savage is that he doesn't take his time about studying his opponents moves and trying to counter them. It seems like he waists all his power on slow heavy strikes
I would’ve loved to see how dooku trainee qui-gon. Then to compare the patience and nurturing with this.
You know, Dooku really loves choosing monsters for his assassins. First Ventress, and now, the brother of Darth Maul.
So when Maul took an apprentice, Sidious saw him as a rival, but when Dooku had one it was okay.................
Well, Maul also took control of the Mandalorians.
What's the difference between a Sith and a Darkside user or a Dark Jedi pls explain thanks
X Infinity Darkside user or dark Jedi are forceusers who use darkside of the force, as for the sith they are an order of darkside user who have set of rules and a sith code they must follow.
Pause at 2:02, Dooku has Yellow Eyes of the Sith, What a detail.
Can you imagine if Yoda electrocuted Luke when he said the same 'ask the impossible line" lmao
Yoda can't use force lightning
@@mrsportsguy134 in other words, he won't, because lightning is an ability of the dark.
I love how, from start to finish, Dooku always fights like he gives exactly zero fucks.
I wish we got more of these two
2:04 i like how savage sings the same note here
Savage has a lot of stamina, strength, Force power and fights with tremendous aggression, so he is naturally suited for Juyo, the Ferocity form.
So that he would learn to control his strengths, and be measured. The same reason as to why an animal is less dangerous than a human being.
***** Precisely, God bless America. :) Just look at all the war crimes.
