i really respect your driving skills. hopefully in this years season the car has progressed and the corvette team will be able to pull out a lot more wins. thanks for posting these clips.
Have always loved the sound of this American giant. That being said, while I respect this more seamless and efficient transmission setup, its just not the same as it used to be! Whatever though, still love it.
As I was watching the video I was trying to see the effort it took to press the paddle shifters. It didn't look like any pressure at all. I currently have a EVOX as a daily commuter with the SST auto and when I take her to the track and use the SST Track mode in auto sounds exactly like that, (Shift points not actual engine sound). Wish I had a SST in my 2006 Z06 where I could have every shift type option available,
hey, its a choice that is made for the safety of our drivers. I'm not sure if you drive but its hard to pay attention to where you are and shift while racing somebody.
Actually the Zonda R isn't in any spec class like the other cars. Though I agree all of the cars mentioned are great cars, but you can't ignore the amount of success that Corvette racing has had in ALMS and the 24 hours of Lemans.
If its the 6L80-6L90 series transmission you don't have to do anything but hit the shift paddle. They aren't true sequential units internally its the same as a normal automatic transmission, Just a special type of torque converter and a computer program that allows manual gear selection. I have one in my car I like it.
@ProTuner06 Yes, I understand that. But still, as a spectator, I want to see some "action" in cockpit. Plus, it makes some room for drivers errors. I love cockpit cam and can't imagine FIA GT1 cars for example with paddle shifters. I prefer SQ even in racing sims. Paddle shifters are too boring after a while. There is just something about it when you can push/pull gear lever. :) I hope SQ won't be abandoned completely.
I'd be like... "The fuck did I buy a Zune for? " *Scoots closer to you so I can hear the muscle* ... "Why can't I have nice things?....Fucking bullshit man."
@saatana4 You ever heard of technological progress? You ever heard that the cars are getting faster? You ever heard of growing G-forces with growing Speed? Noooo, everything was better yesterday... I know... I know... Thanks to tgmilner and thanks to the progress.
@cortkatanakx1q Most race cars are switching to paddles. You try racing the 24 hour Le Mans or 24 Hour Nurburgring whith a stick. I perfer a stick with sequential gearbox but paddles make it that much better and driver friendly on a real race track in a real race car. I'm speaking with experience though so that's just MHO.
Nice helmet cam. But aren't paddle shifters a bit boring? Personally, I don't like this trend. As a spectator, I like big GT cars with sequential gearbox and heel&toe downshifting. It's some kind of challenge.
Ques in C6R, with a sequential shifter, what is the proper way to downshift, is it heel toe, left foot brake and blimp gas, or brake and downshift with clutch, I play iracing sim and want to know the proper way, on sim they are using left foot brake and blimp gas
Lol, what Ford drivers? There are several Ford GT racers running around(all with sequential gearboxes, just like this C6.R), but none of them are sponsored by Ford.
Tommy, after all these years, we'd love to hear your thoughts and reflections on the C6R!!!

thats some seriously fast gearchanges...love the rear facing screen he gets!
Thx for sharing....amazing quality and sound and nice driving thx a looot
The C6.R's sound was even more amazing in person!
We need more! Please do this at Baltimore
Awesome stuff Tommy! I hope there are more videos like this one in the future.

i know the feeling mate, i listen to it while i study!
this would be my biggest dream to drive a vette in the ALMS and Le Mans ! :)
i could listen to this all day, might be a bit weird when people hear me listening to a v8 on my ipod lol
Yes, they are mounted on the steering wheel, you can notice his hands pressing something when the gear shifts
So smooth!
The C6.R is consistently finishing in the top of it's class at Le Mans and has won several times.
So glad America has at least this Classy (Professional) GT car
My dream car
oh ya I can see him using a paddle now once I look closer, thanks!
Nice sound!
good luck this year
Sounds so delicate !! :-) love it
sounds amazing
very very cool, thanks for info, buddy
Awesome footage Tommy. Would you be interested at recording the same when driving at Le Mans? That would be great!
awsome i have nfs shift 2 and man i cant imagine going around a track 20 or more times in reality and have you ever driven a gt 500
Very cool video!
Gee that is pure torque

This Isnt the c6.r
This is the racing zr1. It has gm's new 5.5 liter motor. It's truly amazing.

after watchin this my HR and BP went up
Way Cool. Now, if we could only get GM to put the rear-view camera in the street cars, at least as a parking assist when backing up!
OMG what a sound
he has paddle shifters on the steering wheel, all cars in the ALMS do except for the Porsche GT3 cup cars
I'd be like...
"The fuck did I buy a Zune for? "
*Scoots closer to you so I can hear the muscle* ...
"Why can't I have nice things?....Fucking bullshit man."
I believe almost all GT racecars are now semi-automatic/dual-clutch.
Audi R8 LMS, Porsche GT3RSR, Pagani Zonda R, Maserati C12, SLS AMG GT, Aston Martin DBRS... did i missed some one out?
its a manual! it is paddle shift. you just see his fingers hitting the shift lever.
@saatana4 Those were times when drivers really had big balls of steel. :)
love that video monitor on the right of the steering, that must be taking the place of the rear view mirror right?
You're right.
@SimonC979
Safety net so the driver doesn't bounce all over the cabin in a crash
@saatana4 You ever heard of technological progress?
You ever heard that the cars are getting faster?
You ever heard of growing G-forces with growing Speed?
Noooo, everything was better yesterday... I know... I know...
Thanks to tgmilner and thanks to the progress.
They are ENTIRELY different games that set out to do different things; they shouldn't even be compared.
you can see when he changes up, just moving the 'middle finger', must be a very small paddle shift
DAMN THATS LOUD!
Awesome nice
yes, yes he is
I've done it, try it, it's absolutely great
I'd buy the soundtrack.
Ah man...the sound of this reminds me of the racing game GRID xD

Good Aire .
when did you get the camera and how long did you wait for it? ive had mine on order for over a month now.
Its obviously paddle shifter if his hands are not moving off the steering wheel
Nice helmet cam. But aren't paddle shifters a bit boring? Personally, I don't like this trend. As a spectator, I like big GT cars with sequential gearbox and heel&toe downshifting. It's some kind of challenge.
yes isnt great that it knows which gear the driver wants at exactly which moment? ....................
How can anyone dislike this video??
Ford gt fans lol.....
i want to drive for corvette racing.
Ques in C6R, with a sequential shifter, what is the proper way to downshift, is it heel toe, left foot brake and blimp gas, or brake and downshift with clutch, I play iracing sim and want to know the proper way, on sim they are using left foot brake and blimp gas
im going to do it
What is the net in the middle of the car for? I think I've only ever seen it in the Corvette C6.R.
@zippy476 contact Pratt & Miller or Richard Prince photography. Facebook both of them or type the names on google and there sites will pop up
That rear view camera would really really distract me. I guess you just get used to it
is the c6.r paddle shift or stick cuz in the video his hands are not moving off the steering wheel
i know it can't be automatic but what is he shifting with? are they mounted on the steering wheel??
Why is the car automatic I thought it was manual with a sequential shifter and won't it run faster if it was manual with a sequential shifter.
The iRacing Corvette is NOT the same as this car. This is the GT2 car and the iRacing car is the GT1 car.
When can we do an interview with you? I am with High Tech Corvette.
DAT GLOVES, NFS SHIFT AND SHIFT 2 /UNLEASHED.
Wow.
Dear Santa...
huh. i learned something new LOL
dat sound
That forg gt is in forza 4 im here bcus of the corvette
Is this automatic or something? I cant see you shifting anywhere
Fuck the people who would think thats wierd, shit man Im right with ya on that one I love the sound of this Vette's engine :D
Its... The Stig...
Need For Speed Shift 3 !!! No, joke.
which gloves is he wearing?
is it a automatic transmission??
how many pounds of boost are you getting?
You are a fuckin G
HOW do you get into a career of racing like this?
hey guys, is this GT1 or GT2?
Some say...he drives for corvette racing
Well, sorry. It's a c6.r by all means, but different then the orignal c6.r. but to my knowledge, its the zr1 c6.r , right?
yup
Lol, what Ford drivers? There are several Ford GT racers running around(all with sequential gearboxes, just like this C6.R), but none of them are sponsored by Ford.
look at his hands its a paddle shifter
oh my got //!!!! hey how much cost that gearbox !??!?! i think GM need to put one like this in street corvette and very much sports car will be suck
Moar!
" DampfHammer"
Hans Dampf xD
I'M IN LOVE! Let me try ( ^ ^ )
ok
Find yourself some good headphones, bring up Fire Woman by The Cult nice and loud while watching this, and enjoy.
I dont like the car too much, but this screen that showes what happens behind the car is awesome!!!!!!!!! xD
@saatana4 Thumbs down for you not understanding what a true race car is.
Don't be, i do the same thing.
