Definitely 3.0 CRD 2005-2010 is better than the newest 3.0 (WK2, VM Motori, Italy). WK (05-10) have a OM642 engine (manufactured by Mercedes-Benz, same as 320CDI,350CDI in C-Class,E-Class,S-Class, Sprinter and other). Defects? Fuel consumption about 13-15 liters per 100km, leaking oil cooler but fix it once and you're fine for long time.
