Hi Neil, I followed your videos on a binge watch one night, I found strength in scheduling my biopsy, had it three days ago, 55\with elevated PSA, no other warning issues. Waiting for biopsy results. Have a great NZ day...🇳🇿🇳🇿
hi paul. thanks for your comments and good luck with the results. All is well with me here in nz and still with a 0 psa. Keep in touch with your progress. all the best. n
@@neil1058 Hi Neil, had results, no cancer present anywhere, doc thinks elevated PSA was due to UTI that I was just getting over and also just plain old BPH which is not effecting me in anyway. It could also just be a hereditary thing, as I was adopted I have no medical bio history. Got the usual talk about some possible precancerous areas which he said we’ll monitor on the 10-15 year plan with PSA readings bi-annually. All good for now...🙏🤗
@@neil1058 Thanks for replying, Neil! I’m 71 as well, and the urologist is perplexed because the PSA number goes up and then down, but the trend is up: three years ago .09 to 2.8, then down to 2.2, and so on until this year it peaked at 5.4, but two months later 4.3. What worries me is that the general trend is up but the gland itself is quite small - not a good combination. I hope you are doing well now. All best from Indiana, USA.
@@ransomcoates546 Hi Again Ransom. I have no regrets at all about my procedures. My PSA was stable for many years and suddenly started to rise. I had the first biposy at about 5 or 6 and it showed localised cancer areas. A later transperineal biopsy, which gives a clear picture, and an MRI showed further cancer aareas - again not totally invasive- and they wanted to enroll me in 'watch and wait' but I decided that in 10yrs when they might need to operate I would not be in a good age space so i opted to do the robotic surgery. If you have watched the other videos you will see it was no biggie, and I have been 100% since then. Good luck. Keep in touch.
Can you confirm what your the Gleason score was? Was it 3+3 6? As I understand it one core in 12 of Gleason 6 is just part of the ageing process. Hope all well?
Hi Billy, It was 4 + 3 as I remember. For me the Gleason score is not all that good because it is a compressed scale. It has been replaced anyway. Yes all is well & thanks for asking - my psa came back at zero last week.
Neil Please stop with these MRI's. The contrast Dye is bad for a Senior Citizens Kidney. You already had a Biopsy and the MRI is telling you to have another?
mri very claustrophobic and difficult to breathe especially as it lasted 40 minutes - just about bearable - I had the dye but not aware of the injection for the bowel. my mri was before biopsy so I believe I would have targeted biopsy. It does not reduce the great worry and anxiety so it's extremely helpful to learn about someone else's experience. One thing that concerns me is the wait between identifying a problem and taking action however.
Thanks for your information. Very helpful! Subbed!

For a man 71 I am surprised that a PSA of 4.5 seemed to warrant a biopsy. Did they do the free PSA blood test first?
Hi Ransom,
the level prior to the 1st biopsy was 6 as I recall, and there was a sudden rise.

How many days did you have pain or discomfort after the biopsy?
Hi peter. About 1 -2 days only. I had very slight bleeding for about 5 days.
@@neil1058 Any other complication after biopsy sir?
@@neil1058 How bad is the pain?
I took a paracetamol and spent the afternoon watching TV. For me it was 1or2/10.
Hope your still alive and well!
Hello Jim. Yes alive & well., and thanks for asking.
