I'm not completely sold on this approach - you are spending money and/or your time testing and for a small start up sole operator/consultant 5-10k is not chicken feed. I think a better approach is to 'know thyself' i.e., figure out your strengths and what you may have to offer in terms of the service you can sell. Then you need to find that ideal client or rather their profile - who is the best match. Then there's the second approach where you reach out via business organisations and key people (fellow business consultants in other areas) to learn what the present need is. You could do this from the comfort of your own home or go to business exhibitions in your local area. I'm also open to trawling the net and seeing what the competition large and small is offering, as that may put me in the right ballpark in terms of demand.
@@ConsultingBusinessSchool Er, no! I don't want to be a pain, but that's not what I'm suggesting. I believe the best way to generate leads (quality leads) is to really know what your prospective client base needs and the more desperate they need it the better because then you have less leg work to do in terms of reaching out to them. Many years ago, in my youth, I was approached by a Greengrocer. He was a one man sole owner of his small business who was desperate for help with his business. The problem was a competitor business had opened a shop across the road from him and was undermining him by selling their fruit n veg at below price. They couldn't even sell the product at below cost price, so they were chucking a lot of it away at the end of the day into bins at the back of the shop (he told me he went around the back and had done a physical check himself). He said to me that he would sign anything I wanted him to if I could only save his business - he was desperate. His business had been in his family for over a hundred years. The conclusion was I couldn't help him because at that time I had neither the knowledge nor the experience. I could have wept for him and I was very disappointed in myself. Still, that experience stuck with me - the best client is the one who is desperate to want your solutions AND they will pay top dollar to get it. That makes lead generation a piece of cake.
Why would I disagree with that! Whatever product or service we are selling it has to fulfil a market need. And the better and faster it does that, the more you can charge 🙂 Step 1. Develop your product based on a clear market need. (and your capabilities) Step 2. Find that ideal client. Marketing....... That's what this video was focusing on. And as a start up, there are zero cost ways to start marketing, as you have suggested.

As Ryan explains, start with organic marketing. So we agree with you. Then when you have a budget..........you can try other things.

Great content. Ryan sounds like a British robot. He might try a new headset.
Sorry about that. might have been the internet connection too.
@@ConsultingBusinessSchool Like I said, your content is great! Keep up the good work.
Audio was quite bad but love the content
