MOPARS are my favorite muscle cars. This 1971 is SWEET! The 1971 and 1972 Plymouth Roadrunner are almost identical. Production numbers are low for the 1971 and 1972 model years.

      Very low…’71 GTX produced less than 3k . And I now own 1 of them , 440-4 bbl 727 auto, 323 sure-grip. Curious yellow😊

I always liked the machine gun exhaust tips on both the Plymouth and Dodge variants during this era. Rare find here!

I had a 71, and I knew it was authentic, as I knew the original owner, my was exactly the same way, except it was "Plum Crazy Purple" and the badging in front of the hood, is supposed to have the little statue of the Road Runner, and the sticker around it, is supposed to say " Plymouth Road Runner".

    Beautiful car.
I don't remember ever seeing the turn signal indicators on the hood, so I did some looking, and found some cars with them in the same place and some with them in the fenders.
I guess it depends on the hood.

I had a 70 road runner, the original 383 was rated at 335 hp, I used to hate these next to a 70, then I sat in one, and the comfort and handling was superior next to my 70, my 70 felt like a boat, these are sleek and nimble in comparison, the iconic one piece front bumper and bowed quarters. The stance is perfect, as is all the panel fitment, the black paint is stunning, love this one guys, I never even noticed the black stripe, until you mentioned it, what a beauty.

I agree, I had a ‘69 GTX and now a ‘71 GTX and the difference in driving and handling is pretty significant.

It is NOT a one year only car! That is a lie! The 1972 Roadrunners were exactly the same except for the rear bumper/taillights and engine availability. That’s a Tuff steering wheel, an option for 1970-1976 I believe. RRs usually came with the RR emblem in the center and a much thinner steering wheel. If one doesn’t want to pay for a overpriced RR but want the same body style , look for a ‘71-‘72 Satellite Sebring.

I see the car has black strobe stripes over the roof (barely visible), but has the roadrunner name spelled out with emblems on the rear fenders. Typically they one got those spelled out with actual emblems was on stripe delete cars. On strobe stripe equiped cars, the name was integrated into the stripe.

For that reason I won’t. I would only want a 4 speed in a roadrunner. I had a 69 383 4 speed & I do like the style of the 71’s but I wouldn’t buy an automatic because of the steering column shifter, just not my style. Also I’m only “boy “ to Mr. & Mrs. Szweb & they have moved on & I will get to see them in time.
