This is one of those songs that was done so perfectly that it’s never needed a cover. Then you went and did that, reinventing it and doing so so magically. I’ll never hear the original the same again.

I feel like as a man, Chris Isaacs resonates more with me... there's an exhaustion about it like 'oh no not again...' and you feel that sexual tension that he's actually trying to express.
This version feels more like it's from a woman's point of view. More desperate and heart broken.
Great cover, but i do feel the bifurcation...
I agree, her reimagining was inspired. She performed it with authenticity and transformed it into a beautiful expression of herself.
But does any song NEED a cover though?? Covers are as subjective as their original counterparts, music is an art form. I've seen some covers that I personally believe out performed their predecessor, but the originals were never created for them to be replicated.
Music is a form of self expression and no one "needs" their self expression to be improved upon. Plus, I think you're missing the purpose of a cover. They're meant to be a sign of respect for the original artist's work, not an opportunity to one up them!
@blakedenton8247 good point, I suppose it couldn't be any other way. We are who we are. So interesting though to hear it in this musical way.

I was just thinking the same thing. Nowadays you have 50 million reaction channels of..vocal coach reacts...opera singer reacts...blah blah blah. None ever prove they can sing. Kudos to her.

WOW. Beth is such a nice person and a cool vocal coach, but I never imagined she was that good as a singer. Most of the vocal coaches are so technical that they lose the emotion somehow. She is the first vocal coach that I watch singing that besides having perfect technique, also transmits a pure emotional connection.

There are very few vocalists in this world that both have the chops/ technique to nail a song and express with their own emotions and musical interpretation in its performance to a deep level. Most vocalists i know don't bother or take the chance of putting a little piece of themselves in their performance. Wicked Game is a classic and you made it your own classic. Well done Beth!

Oh my! I absolutely got goosebumps. I was a singer when I was in school. Performed in competitions and loved it. My mother was a singer in the 1950’s as well. God rest her soul. Some of my fondest memories are of she and I harmonizing as we rode in the car. I later became a Speech Pathologist. So watching your has been both fascinating and such a great joy. This is a song that really resonates with me. I love that there are so many great interpretations and now there is one more to make me cry like a baby. Going through all the different covers really gives me an amazing sense of community and diversity at the same time. It has been sung in The Voice in Ukraine and Russia, it has been sung by men and women, old and young. We are all wonderful individuals but also wonderfully connected right at the heartstrings.
