As a Balkan girl this fed my nostalgia better then gralic on toast. I expected the fun parts, but I was surprised by the portrait of the Communist experience and how it impacted Eastern Europe. The Wall was so reminescent of the Iron Curtain. The gloomy Chernograd was the Europe under Communism, the bright and chearful Belograd was the free Europe.
i agree with everything you said- I really enjoyed this one. I wasn't sure what to expect but i was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed all the different kinds of monsters and really liked the world/setting and the relationship between the protagonist and the cop. Looking forward to book 2 which apparently comes out this fall?! yay!
TY I'm sold! Adult fantasy with a female (non chosen one) protagonist is my jam. Is this anything like The Coven series by R.A Salvatore? I freaking loved that trilogy.

No, it’s not all that similar to The Coven. It’s a lot more confined and much more humor to.
I was on the fence about this book, but I think I'll give it a chance after hearing your thoughts. Thanks :)
Good afternoon my dear friend
