Future reference: get an itemized bill so it shows where every penny goes. I had a surgery and they charged me an insane amount. I asked for one and the cost decreased by $2000.

I liked this video, not because I liked what happened to you, but because I like that you shared this. My husband has had some random medical issues, but every time he gets testing done, everything usually comes back normal, which seems good, but is actually more frustrating because we have no answers. We also eat pretty healthy, we don't smoke, and rarely drink.

If the 12k cost wasn’t enough to shock other people who don’t deal with USA healthcare then maybe the fact that I heard that number and thought “oh that’s it?” Will put it into perspective. I almost went into a diabetic coma before I was diagnosed and spent almost a week in icu…that bill was not kind

I've had epilepsy all my life since I was born 2 months premature. I had a seizure a few days after. I wasn’t officially diagnosed until 2002 when the eye doctor noticed my optic nerve looked blocked. He ordered an MRI scan the next week. The scan showed a small spot on my left temporal lobe that had no active brain cells. The grey matter is still there. I was then diagnosed with micro-seizures type epilepsy. They are caused by flashy lights on a red/white or black/white combo that causes a reactive headache from hell, hyper feeling, anxiety and the smell of gasoline from the brain misfiring. Then I take an Advil, turn out the lights and sleep off the pain. I've had 4 seizures. The last was in fall 2013. I may never have another seizure because the further away they are the less chance. The closer, more active, the higher chances for a stroke. I instinctively shield my eyes the second I notice the flashies. My boyfriend will let me know if there's a flash sequence in a movie or show, so I hide with my hands or a blindfold or blanket. Keep track of how you feel and log it for your doctors. I hope you find the cause. You can live with this with managing it. Take care.

The fun surprise with ER visits in the U.S. is that you don't just get one bill. You get one from the ER/hospital which you assume is the whole thing, but then you get another from the attending doctor and a totally separate one from any other doctors - radiologists, neurologists etc. And it could be weeks after you receive the hospital bill, so it is definitely unexpected if you have never been to an ER before.

Glad you checked out ok. If it makes you feel any better, my mom had a similar experience about 18 years ago and she had all the tests and follow ups over a year or so but she has never had another one since. So don't forget to tell yourself the other narrative - 'what if it never happens again'. The bill though really really sucks :😢😢😢

I have epilepsy so I can understand what you have gone through. My first seizure was at 17, and I also black out when it happens. I also throw up when I wake up so luckily you didn't have that. The first one, I went to the ER and they did a CAT scan and tested my blood and urine and found nothing wrong with me either. After my second seizure, which was in public at 18, it was grand mal, I was diagnosed with epilepsy and given medication. I then had an EEG which confirmed that I had epilepsy. Unfortunately at that time, I had my driver's license suspended until I had been on my medication and seizure free for 4 months. I had to retake my driver's exam too which sucked. As long as I take my medication regularly I don't get seizures anymore. I'm 34 now. The only concern now is because I am pregnant and apparently during pregnancy it increases the risk of having a seizure so I had to increase my dose and monitor my levels. But yeah it's weird because no one else had epilepsy in my family.

My cousin’s daughter had one when she was about 8 years old. She’s never had another one and she’s now 25. It is indeed far too common to have just one and never have another. I try not to think about medical bills. 😂 Our health system is horrific. Not the doctors themselves, but just the way that it’s set up. Huge kudos to the bartender, and to Darren for reassuring you that he’ll support you however you need. My guy and I have been dealing with something similar for a few years due to my random amount of new health issues. It makes you closer. Let him help and be free talking about your fears and listening to his. That was a terrifying thing to have happen and I know you’re both going to need some time to feel safe.
Also, shame on you for emptying out the venue.😂😂 Show stealer. Jokes aside, I’m super glad you’re better. ❤

Oh my gosh. That’s so scary, but I’m glad you’re okay! American healthcare is a joke. I had to get routine treatment for myself this year and with insurance, I still had to pay a decent amount out of pocket. I got a bill in the mail and was thinking, “serves me right for trying to take care of myself” lol but seriously, I’m glad you’re okay and I too hope that’s the only one you ever have! Sending you lots of love!

Omg I don't know how I missed this video. I'm tearing up watching. I'm so glad you're okay! I don't know if you are prone to panic attacks. But I have a close friend who has panic attacks that were causing micro seizures that she was unaware of for the longest time. And then as time went on the progressed to full blown seizures. Hers were normally triggered by her anxiety. But in the beginning she was having silent seizures without showing classic signs. Not all seizures are loud. But definitely something to watch for. Sending love and good vibes your way. ❤

I'm so glad you're okay. In 2010 I had a grandmal seizure, while I was getting in the shower. I woke up completely naked, a towel thrown over me. My mom said " Don't scream baby." I didn't remember screaming before but okay... lol. Hospitals never could find the trigger. After years of being on anti seizure meds I weaned off of them. And was told to monitor my blood pressure and stress levels.

I'm glad to see you fine and joking about it, and I pray you don't have another one! And that bill was really extreme! Like I can buy a new house in my country with that much money!! Also the falling in bathroom risk is real even if you are completely healthy, it has happened several times in my family (although mostly to my parents/grandparents and their siblings) so it doesn't hurt to be cautious at all ages.

I'm so glad you're ok. My daughter has seizures. When she was about 2 years old she has what is called silent seizures, we never heard of such a thing, so we thought she was just not paying attention, that she was just looking out to space. But when she was about 6 1/2, she had a full blown seizures. And since then, she's had them about every 7 years. The last time she had a full-blown seizure has been almost 3 years ago. It will be 3 years on her birthday, which is September 18th. Luckily she has insurance that pays for everything. Because she gets social security. Because she has a learning disabilities and because of her seizures. She does have epilepsy. Hopefully, it was a one and done time experience. And yes, insurance sucks in the USA.

I had a seizure in late 2019. Apart from a brief period of lying on the floor and wondering why I couldn't make myself stand up, I have no memories until two days later.

Anybody who has a seizure for the first time: GO TO THE HOSPITAL. Seizures do not normally happen like this. Chances are, there is something wrong. Brain damaged. A stroke. A tumor. Something. Better safe than sorry. And having a random seizure when you don’t have epilepsy is very rare.

Why do youtubers feel the need to make a video about them going to the hospital lol. It’s weird especially when it’s a gaming channel and not a medical related channel with a disability or illness
