    Great video. Quick question: what if the power goes out? What will happen to the water temperature in the system to avoid condensation?

      Great question as usual! If this were to occur, there would be no condensation risk because the system would be off at that point.
      Since there is no power, the controls will be offline, the energy source will not generate chilled water, and the circulator pumps will not push water throughout the home.
      So if this were to happen, it would basically "pause" your system. So you would be without heating/cooling momentarily, but there wouldn't be any condensation risk.

      @@messanatech Thanks for taking time to address my question in detail as usual. This makes sense. If power were to remain out for an extended period of time, would it be safe to assume that the temperature of the fluid in the system would approximate ambient temperature?

    Would this work well for a new build small 120 square foot art studio space? I would want to . I also noticed that there is an office in Soquel, is that a showroom or is there another way of experiencing it somewhere in the bay area? Would you have to couple it with a humidity control?

      Hi there, thank you for your question!
      With that small of a space, the $/sqft. would be quite high for a radiant cooling and heating system.
      Additionally, a building like this may have higher than usual loads, making radiant cooling less feasible. This is because a building like this has all walls + the ceiling exposed to the outdoors, meaning heat is trying to enter from all angles. For a room in a residential project, usually only 1-2 walls of a room are exposed to the outdoors, so there is less surface area for heat to enter the space. Furthermore, these types of buildings tend to have more glass and less insulation, increasing loads. A better hydronic option for a project like this may be a fan coil, which has a condensate drain so condensation is not a concern (you can use very cold water to maximize cooling).
      If you were to attempt to go with a cooling and heating system, you would most likely use an air-to-water heat pump to generate heated and chilled water. However, the smallest heat pump size available would be a bit overkill for a 120 sqft. space. Additionally, a system like this requires more room for mechanical equipment, so space may be a limiting factor.
      Regarding humidity control, a dehumidifier may be incorporated to increase radiant cooling output, but once again, this further increases $/sqft. and may not be worth it. Our office in Soquel uses a 55°F set-point for dehumidification to kick in, and it has done so twice since April 1st.
      If you go with a heating-only system, you could certainly design a very simple radiant ceiling system, which would require less mechanical equipment, sensors, and controls. This would make the system more affordable and easier to install.
