Thank you for the video! We let bps release this as a designed by us as we think it's a very good. Price to quality but has some compromises we don't want on our own brand. Were working on a DBK brand budget friendly knife that we aim around the $100 mark. But we definitely stand behind the price to quality of the bps. Sheath will be changed soon as you're completely right about that
As a knifemaker, I can say almost anyone could swap the walnut for micarta, make a kydex sheath, and polish a bit. With almost no time or $ they'd have a knife most people would be proud to use. As is, this is a workhorse, not a bad way to spend $50.
The edge was pretty thick on mine. It really needed a little bevel thinning to have geometry fitting a small knife like this. The handle, unlike the TRC version is much thinner, making BPS more of an EDC knife than a bushcraft knife. I would also consider Terävä Jääkäripuukko for the same $50 since you need anew sheath anyways.
Check out joker knives from Spain. Very nice knives and you can them with matching fire steel for a little over $100 US dollars. Comes with a good sheath with dangler. Good steel to. Just something to look at….it’s an option. Good video.
@bryanlunsford3658 I am a huge fan of joker, but I actually prefer martinni knives. You can get the stealth, fire starter and a sweet bushcraft blade with a edge that js scalpel sharp for between 5 and 70 bucks.
I just bought a BPS knife and the sheath is outstanding; best sheath I’ve ever had on a production knife. I agree, this black sheath design is odd considering what they normally produce. I might get one of these knives and pair it with one of their normal sheaths
I didn’t realize before the scales are pinned on. I have the adventurer which you can unscrew the scales. BPS had the best edge I’ve ever got from a production knife. My question do you think the adventurer or this bushmate is better? I love the design an 1066 is a Russian spring steel about the same as American 5160. I think the adventurer is a better outdoor knife in my opinion ( that is without using this knife) . I might need to buy it just to see.
The BPS Scandinavian edge is very well done. The full flat is left a little sick imo. If you have the equipment and skill to thin this edge it will be great. I posted another video where I reground the edge and it’s super sharp, but it’s a little work intensive.
@@dmitryk754 it’s a nice knife for sure it’s just a rake over the coals too expensive. I just got a BR bravo 1.25 in crew wear and it was 150 less… I get the hype tho it’s DBK. The cheap bastard side of me cringes tho. lol
Thank you for the video!

I think for the price it excellent. They cold have done a better sheath w/o any extra cost to them though.
I can't wait for you to release it!
Hey dyslexic it’s bps not brs
@@Moolahmann I'm sure you can find a way to let him know that without being a total asshole

Good knife, dodgy sheath. I have the small hunter with recurve by BPS. Thanks 👍
Agree
I like the BPS one.
They should have kept the original BPS sheaths. They fit better. They also shouldn't have switched to pinning the scales. The originals screwed on.
I agree. Not sure what the thought process was there.
Who is BRS? I only know BPS Knives.
You know what I mean 😉
DBK. 😊
DBK made a gunny in Elmax and charged $450…..
No exact the same, DBK knife is more like a bravo 1 LT than a gunny. Much more attention to detail in fit and finish too.
