It was actually similar for me. When rewatching Rowena's death long after Cas' confession episode, there were only a couple of parallels I noticed at first, like the "Goodbye, Dean" / "Goodbye, boys" and the Empty / the spirits floating into them. I was actually worried at first if I'd find enough parallels to fill a video... and then it was suddenly like I struck gold because I had never realized before that SO MANY things were similar up to the smallest details. Even stuff like the "What?!" and "What are you talking about?", camera angles, smiles and tears are completely the same! Both of these episodes were written by the same writer, so I doubt it's a coincidence (accidents don't just happen accidentally, right?) Thank you so much for letting me know you watched and enjoyed this!
And these were only the ones in season 15! There are so many more over the entirety of the show that I'll have to make at least two other videos about them some time in the future. But currently I'm trying to *write* Samwena in a fanfic instead of making more videos, haha. I just *had* to make this video here first because it was like an eye-opener for me when I realized that the EXACT SAME WORDING had been used multiple times in The Rupture and in Despair. I swear, ever since then this ship has been driving me mad, lol.
Yeah, I was quite stunned when I realized just HOW MANY things were mirrored between the deaths of Cas and Rowena. So, so glad you liked this video and that you felt equally excited discovering all these parallels.
They did, yes. (And so did I!! I was so sad after both of these deaths!) It was heart-breaking to see both of them retreat entirely into themselves in their grief, and see Sam just stay in his darkened room, losing all of his trademark hope. And Dean sitting on the bunker floor, sobbing loudly while ignoring all of Sam's calls. Like, come on.
@@hidingamaranth yeah for real they both acted as if they were grieving the death of a loved partner (cause they were). I really wish that Sam in particular had been allowed to grieve longer and even express his feelings!
Finally, someone who noticed that Rowena helped save the world by having Sam take her life. She even changed hell. She was one of my favorite characters from this show.
Yes, she is a personal favorite of mine now, too. Quite possibly even my second favorite character (but maybe I've just spent too much time trying to get into her head for writing her, haha). It's strange how underrated her character arc seems to be, I don't see people in the fandom talk about her that often. I really love her, though! Thank you so much for leaving a comment, I appreciate that a lot.
I'm pretty sure they did. When we remember early-season Rowena who loved nobody other than Oscar, whom she was still willing to kill for a spell, and compare that with season-13 Rowena in "Funeralia"... Billie said Rowena never could have killed Sam, and that alone is already such a huge thing for her. Also what she said to him in "The Rupture", "We've grown quite fond of each other"--Rowena doesn't usually *do* fond. I take that statement together with the way she touched Sam's shoulder when she said it basically as a confession from her. The phrase "I love you" is something that traumatized her far too deeply back when she was pregnant and Crowley's father told her he loved her, only to leave her. So I think it tracks that she'd express her feelings with different words, anything other than that phrase that is cursed in her eyes. Rowena doesn't usually do comforting shoulder touches or hugs, but she also willingly fell into a hug with Sam before he killed her (heart-breaking for me to think that the only genuine hug we've ever seen her get in the whole show is the one that killed her). And the tears running down both Rowena's and Sam's faces before he killed her showed such deep emotion and connection. The way she touched Sam's face also spoke volumes to me. That just... didn't look platonic at all. And the way Sam locked himself in the darkness of his room for DAYS after her death, the way everyone around him, including Dean and Eileen's ghost, noticed how deeply he was in mourning. Also the way Rowena left all her belongings to Sam, and Sam alone, and created a warding spell that locked everyone else out, but allowed him unconditional entrance to her apartment, even though he was prophesied to kill her. How much she trusted him to actually find *comfort* in that prophesy instead of being scared of him. Also just the fact that someone as flirty as Rowena never tried to overtly seduce Sam the way she did with Gabriel or Ketch or even Chuck. She was just *different* around him, and treated him differently from everyone else. This was worlds away from her usual superficial sex thing with men she wanted to use for power gain. It became more and more obvious that being around Sam suddenly returned something to her that she hadn't allowed herself to feel for several centuries after how deeply she had been hurt. I'll never be over the fact that being around Sam was also what enabled her to finally feel love for her son. To me, this is a truly epic love story that's somehow horribly underrated in the fandom. (Sorry for the novel, I'm shipping this madly after writing their first kiss in Hell in my fanfic.)
You make me ship them even more. And as much as I love Eileen, i never truly could feel the desire between them. Saileen feel so platonic, Samwena feels anything but platonic.
I really love both of these ships, so I'm glad you enjoyed this, too. :) (Also, it's pretty crazy just HOW many similarities there were in Cas and Rowena's respective sacrifice scenes. And with both of these episodes written by the same writer in the same season, that can't be a coincidence.)
They did indeed! And they both came back to these men, too! (Yes, sure, we never did see Cas return. But Bobby said Cas helped! He's totally back, right? Right. Even the SPN wiki lists him as alive, lol. Though I would LOVE to actually see on my screen how Dean goes to the Empty to drag Cas out!)
I'm a bit confused about the comment. This video was never meant to be funny. If you mean it in the sense that it's incredible how many similarities the scenes had, then I agree.
How did I never notice these parallels?? Amazing video!

I never thought there were parallels, but nice 👀🔥😍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

The parallels are uncanny! Beautiful video

They all deserved so much more 😭 I love them, screw the writers, Samwena and Destiel were CLEARLY canon
Samwena and Destiel are both real!!
Rowena should have been facing Sam,Dean and Cass when she went over the edge,a last sight that was of love and respect instead of the ground below.
Both of these scenes are GUT WRENCHING and the boys grieved so much 😭

I always hoped that Sam and Rowena had feelings for each other.

Such a good video it so good
