RhinoRack 270 Batwing Awning Review

I've had my 270 Batwing Awning from RhinoRack Canada since this past summer and it has been an integral addition to my rig. It is quick to deploy and just as quick to pick up! Best part is the amount of coverage you get - protection from the hot sun or those rainy days!

All the other videos mentioned the weak hinges, but you are the only one to say that it is intended to break to avoid major vehicle damage in high winds...makes sense, the canopy is one big sail. Thx.

Great review, thanks for the information! Did you mount the awning brackets on the under side of the pioneer platform? Are they the standard mounts?

It's been about a 2 years. How's it holding up? Would you recommend it? Could you do a 2-year review and maybe address any downside or negatives?

Hey, I switched things up to the QuickPitch 270 Weathershade awning. Ran the RhinoRack on the trailer for a bit and then when I sold the trailer, I also sold the RhinoRack awning. It was awesome! Never had any issues at all. Just wanted an awning that could be deployed without legs and could stand up to some decent wind worry free.

Did you have to drill through your Pioneer Platform to install your roof top tent?

Hi, yes - I did drill into one of the platforms for the left side routing brackets and bolts. It's aluminum so it won't rust.

How is it in the rain?

The awning is great in the rain! Keeps you dry! If heavy rain you want to make sure you add the guidelines in between the poles to help with drainage.
