A little known fact about that council office block in Aylesbury is that it was the design inspiration behind the new BMW GSA 1300.
Now that makes complete sense!!! 🤣
😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
That's mean, architects worked long & hard on, oh, uh, wait, yes, I think you're probably right....
I have the dubious honour of working in that building every now and then. I was told it’s not actually listed, that’s an urban myth. I suspect it’ll be demolished at some point to facilitate town centre regeneration. Hopefully.
Yor biker scrans are always a favourite of mine, always interesting and when your with such good company what's not to like.
Aww thank you….
I vote to keep the Biker Scram a “Boys Day Out”, and add another “series” to your repertoire of caff rides of just you and Carol 😃👍!
Yes I’m with you Dan (I’d already been thinking of a new cafe series with Carole). There’s defo room for a boys only trip….
Absolutely excellent video, you can talk about vintage aero engines as much as you like! Thanks boys.
Our pleasure!
Aeroplanes, bikes and food ticks all the boxes. That sopwith is worth a vid on its own.
Agreed!
This is second favourite to the Bike v Plane. Great combination of bikes and planes. Flown into Turweston a couple of times and spoke with Chris and also visited by road a number of times. Often treated to something other than aircraft going down the runway. Never seen inside the hangars so this was a treat. The WWI Sopwith is amazing!Great place. Interesting to know Geoff is a pilot too as well as a biker! Loved the vid. More like this please 😊
Delighted you enjoyed it! Remind me what you fly and where from…??
@@TheMissendenFlyer Warrior II in Lincolnshire
As always, enjoyed the video and you can never go wrong when you’re around aviation.
Couldn't agree more!
Well, Mrs Flyer has now plummeted down my favourite list😮 I am currently on my third Moto Guzzi and absolutely love them😊
On my fifth Guzzi. The new Stelvio is anything but Gutless. A GS sheep wouldn't appreciate it
What does Mrs Flyer know about bikes!!!
Bikes, food and aircraft, perfect 🤗 Great video.
Thank you very much!
Here in the land of Oz { at least where live }, we have a local airfield/museum, known as HARS. They provide a complete guided tour, of around 100 aircraft, many old, and historical for a few Oz bucks..$20.00. They also have a great cafe, with great food, at very reasonable prices. Couple that, with two tarmac days, and you have, what they say, a true reflection in aviation history. Love the place🛩😀
Sounds like my type of place!
Nice, Bikes and Airplanes. Enjoyed the tower.
Thanks for watching!
Dan should do his own series, there's a really good sense of humour always bubbling under in these biker scran videos!
Yes Dan is a very clever fella with a super sharp sense of humour that goes unrecognised most of the time...(I hope he doesn't read this comment BTW)
Always great to watch you and your mates hangout and have fun.....great stuff!!!
Thank you for joining us!
Great video....I love when you work in some aviation!....given the reduced turning radius of my neck at 59 I would have to remember to take a handheld mirror with me to check my airspeed when flying the Gypsy Moth.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love these videos of you guys. Such good fun being on a bike with your mates. Will have to make a visit to this place with my friends.
You should!
Great video. Always good to have a little variation.
Interesting to see the ATC. Very spacious. I recently had the chance to go up the Heathrow ATC tower and it's was probably only twice the size despite being 360 degree visibility and of course a lot busier.
Yes, I have to say the Tower at Turweston is not typical of a GA control Tower!
Another brilliant Biker Scran, I love the detail you put into what on the face of it is 3 friends having lunch, I love the cut in photos showing what you are talking about. I saw Dan at the ABRF, but didn't want to disturb him.
Quite wise he can be a miserable sod when caught unawares 😜
You come for the bikes and leave with the planes, nice!
I similarly flew to Turweston many years ago during my PPL days. . Never been there by road so always interesting to see a different perspective!
Yes - quite different to arrive by road!
That GS is a fantastic bike Andy. My 2009 is just under 37k miles and at 15 years old I'm still loving it!
Good to hear!
Great episode again Andy. I’m a motorcycle and aviation enthusiast myself and this one ticked both boxes. Best regards Norman
Pleased to hear that Norman!
Just love these Vlogs. Great guys all three of you
Aww shucks Nick!
@@nickturnbull4302 there were 4 of us in this vlog lol
Loved that one as a biker and a microlight pilot. There are some amazing cafes at airfields. I would thoroughly recommend the breakfast at Meg’s cafe at Shobdon airfield. There’s generally a row of GS’s parked up outside most weekend mornings. 👍
Yes I have tried that! Great place….. time I revisited!!
Excellent interesting video. On a tour of the museum at RAF Coningsby years ago, chap told us of a scrapyard just after the war where aeroplanes were cut up , including Spitfires , and the owner on a whim decided to sit in one just before it was scrapped, and noticed the pilots log book which belonged to I believe , Johnny Johnson or someone equally famous. Suffice to say, we were stood looking at it thankfully !!!!.
Great story! Can you imagine a scrap yard full of Spitfires!!!
Wow great to see the old planes in the hanger especially that ww1 aircraft.
Yes cool wasn’t it! My type of day out….
Excellent episode. I always enjoy your "biker scran" segments, and found the tour of the airfield very interesting. Thanks gents!
Our pleasure!
I met the owner of the Scout at flying club last month, he’d just taken it to New Zealand and Australia, interesting story! Can’t remember the size of engine think it was 50ltr, but it was the oil consumption that was the main factor in cost per hour to run!
I flew to RAF Valley last year and they don’t have ADS-B capability at all! Glad to see more airfields using it.
Cool!
@@TheMissendenFlyer 7ltr per hour of oil it uses, castor oil !
Well Andy got to say for me one of the best biker scrams to date, love the location the fact you got to have a little tour round the hanger, big 👍 up. Such a shame about on yer bike, stubbornness has miss them a great opportunity I think.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching…
Cheers , loved that one
Glad to hear that!
Great to see you back with the boys looks a very interesting place Andy have to get carol on the next one now she’s got her own bike 👍
There is one of the rotary engine planes at the Aerodrome in Rhinebeck, NY USA. We had our BMW Nat'L Rally there circa 1999 or so,
I imagine there are several there! A legendary place.....
Aylesbury also famous for its duck…
Entertaining and informative scran vlog Andy and that eaterie added to my must visit by bike list..Atb..Alan
Cheers Alan!
Back in 2001 I had a similar experience with OYB. The sales guy was very helpful and arranged a test ride on a 900 SS. The following weekend we returned with the intention of making the purchase. The sales guy was not on duty that weekend and those that were were just not interested in giving me any of their time. So we sat in their car park and placed my order for a new 900 SS with what is now Ducati Manchester. The bonus was that the bike I bought came with the optional Ducati Performance cans and replacement ECU. So winner, winner but OYB didn’t get the chicken dinner. I still have that bike and love it to bits but the years are passing by hence my more recent purchase of my Striple R. Regarding biker scran with an aviation theme I can thoroughly recommend the cafe on the first floor of the London Gliding Club’s clubhouse at Dunstabubble. A good view of the airfield is to be had from your table, and very reasonable prices.
I didn’t know about the gliding club cafe - I take it it is open to anyone??
@@TheMissendenFlyer Yes it is. I have flown from this airfield two or three times many years ago as a passenger in a glider. Absolutely loved it.
Great episode Andy 👏
Glad you enjoyed it!
I too purchased my H2SXSE from Tony at OnYerBike, lovely guy and yes he is a cafe boff! Gonna try the Flight Deck Cafe next time we’re out for a jaunt👌🏽👍🏽
'As i was going to Aylesbury all on a market day a pretty little Aylesbury girl I met upon the way......' Immortalised by Steeleye Span in the song 'The Ups and Downs'. As usual a great scran with the chaps. Thanks.
North Weald and Stapleford have great cafe's too. So does Booker though it's been 20 years since we flew in there!!
Indeed - I’ve enjoyed them all in my time!
Yeah this one looks to be a good ride out. Will have to add to the "Places to go" list 👍
Always good to see Geoff and Dan. I'm not sure if I mentioned it, my Uncle flew B17's out of Thurleigh during WW2 and my Dad was a fighter pilot flying out of Goosebay Labrador (mostly) during the Korean War. Andy, have you ever been to the 306th Bomber Group museum just North of Thurleigh? Anyway, aviation has always held a certain interest for me. If I had more disposable income and time, I suppose I would take a shot at getting certified as a pilot. Not far from where I am, there is the Old Rheinbeck Aerodrome in Red Hook, NY. That has been a summer/fall destination since I was a kid (and even predates me a bit). Anyway it features WW1/Golden Age of Aviation aircraft as a museum and has a great airshow. If you are ever back this way, you might check it out.
Oh yes I’m very aware of Old Rheinbeck kind of analogous to our Old Warden (home of the Shuttleworth Collection)…..and no I’ve not heard of Thurleigh I’m afraid, where in the country is it??
@TheMissendenFlyer The museum shows that it is just North of Bedford. Between Northampton and Cambridge. It appears to be relatively small from what I see online. I always knew his plane had a giant H on the tail, but I didn't know what that meant until a few years ago when I went to a museum in Arizona. Anyway, it shows as an 88 minute drive north/northeast of Great Missenden... am I smelling a day trip? 😉🙃🏍
.....why drive when I can ride or fly there??? :0) ....and yes the aerodrome itself is quite small but the collection of vintage (incuding Edwardian aircraft) is quite large.
Nice to see the old girl out for a run 👍🏻
I thought this was a non- binary bike!
(Please don't open this can of worms)
He didn't take his wife did he?
@@oldguzziguy I don't do binary or none binary crap mate, I'm too old for that shit! 😂😂😂😂😂
Yak 18t is fantastic, but a bit thirsty. I think there are even 6 seaters available. Nowadays, they are rebuild in Lituania.
Aha - thank you for that Peter....
The Whitchurch Morris men are a well known Morris team who have been dancing Cotswold Morris in the Vale of Aylesbury since 1948 .There are a few morris tunes that mention Alesbury in their name ....:)
Oh dear!!

Video idea: Nutritional breakdown of the optimal biker food
Hmm, not sure that would end well….
Yes yes yes 🎉🎉🎉
Onyerbike is a great dealership. Personally bought a couple of bikes from Tony in the past. Great bloke and always has time for a chat. Not one of those salesman who forgets you as soon as he’s sold you a bike.
Yes a top fella is Tony….
On yer bike? IMO, they are unprofessional as it gets. I went down for a test ride after confirming they had the bike on demo. Arrived after an hour on the road to be told they didn't actually have it (Z650RS) as they'd sold it the **week before** and the clowns didn't check. Anyway, they promised to follow up when they got another one. I never heard from them again. My money went elsewhere. Awful customer service and I'll never recommend them.
As I am sure you three should no chilli chips is a great one to go for at the Ace Cafe
The Yak is Romanian and has a Vendeneyev M14P 9-cylinder geared supercharged radial. I used to have a share in a Yak52 (2-seat tandem, same engine as the one you saw). It's more warbird than GA, being aerodynamically unlimited (you cannot break it unless you hit something!). It sounds glorious and when you roll it it bangs your head on the canopy on one side at the commencement of the roll, and on the other side when you stop the roll. It's an absolute delight to fly. It lacks the unbeatable control harmony of the lovely Chipmunk (pretty much all aeroplanes do!) but does have a faster roll rate. Everything works by compressed air - the flaps, gear, brakes, and engine start, the latter using an air distributor to rotate the engine. The massive prop has a CSU of course so once ready for aeros it's full power, 98%RPM, and both hands on the stick - then do anything you want (except hit the ground - it will spin readily and without much if any warning inverted, erect, nose-low or flat and you DO need to know how to recover. Quite a few have been lost in spin accidents).
It has air operated systems because in a Siberian winter batteries will just die, and metal becomes brittle so an inertia starter like the Harvard's would probably snap its shaft when it engaged to the engine.
Stampes are Belgian and have a Renault engine as standard. It has 4 ailerons whereas the Tiger has just 2. It's what the Tiger Moth should have been, with lovely handling - the Tiger being an awful thing to fly as Chris alluded to (having flown them I know they handle really badly with almost ineffective ailerons - use the rudder!) but being a characterful open cockpit biplanes we forgive them that!
Vince
Great info thanks Vince - and yes I have flown a Tiger Moth myself so know exactly what you mean….all great fun though eh!
Agreed on the manuverability of the Stampe; it's why they were so successful in aerobatics competitions, such as the Lockheed International, back in the 1950's. The Bucker Jungmeister was perhaps arguably better, but then the Zlin Trener and Akrobat models came on the scene; they were the go-to until the Pitts Special arrived.
@@chrisweeks6973 Ah yes, the Jungmeister was superb. I only flew one once but was very impressed. It is one of the few aeroplanes with control harmony up there with that of the Chipmunk, but aerobatically much more capable than the Chippy.
The Pitts (which I haven't flown) was in turn out-classed by the likes of the Extra, and I think even that has since been eclipsed in aeros competition flying.
You should try the chocs away cafe at hawarden arfield, flintshire. Flying or riding... Exc food
That’s one I haven’t yet visited….and there aren’t many airfield cafes I’ve not done!
Just watched your latest biker scram 👍
Can I suggest AV8 at Cotswolds airport south West of Cirencester just off the A433
I've been there a few times great food reasonably priced great view of the airfield too😊
Yes I love it there - have visited many times in the aeroplane but never by bike....must put that right!
Ah the Tobago, or the Ta Bag O shit as I used to joke about the airframe back in my flight instructor days. I’ve flown the TB9, TB10, and the TB20. I must admit to being quite partial to the TB20.
Me too, though wobbly wheels are bad for the wallet!
That Manor House looks a lot like the one that went up in Smoke in the 3rd Series of You . Done it up well if it was lol ..anyway back to the vid
Must congratulate you on the correct pronunciation of the the word caff not the posh version 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks for that!
Nice to see the food squad out again! Also nice to see on yer bike looking as well stocked as ever … thanks TMF… next time bring Mrs F too !
Great film … lots in common .. I was Chairman of Fenland Aero Club and grew up near Aylesbury and was my first motorbike stomping ground … Sorry for lack of comments lately but been very unwell but on the mend now .. Quick question: Do you bother with a screen protector on your BMW sat nav screen ????Thanks for great film .. 👍👍👍
No I don’t - probably should! Sorry to hear you’ve been unwell - get better soon!
And Aylesbury Duck? This could turn into the Monty Python Spanish Inquisition. 😉😉
Nice but different video, i personally like it my best wishes to you from the Philippines ❤️💪👍🙂😉😀😁🏁🛺🏍️🐑🇵🇭🏴
Best wishes back!
Coincidentally I have a propeller from a Gypsy Moth in my house which I inherited from my grandfather.
He salvaged it from our local Airfield when he was in the RAAF during WW2.
It was always in his house when I was growing up and it reminds me of him and his service.
Thanks Andy. I've learned how to drive on the left side of road watching your videos!
Glad to help!
It was mentioned that the WW1 Sopwith ran on Castor Oil and it was a total loss lube system. As Castor Oil is a well known laxative this required the pilots to visit the loo very regularly, if you know what I mean. 😱
In the 90's i was serving in army and we had a really long runway at side of the camp at Wimbish near Saffron Walden. I had to go and explain myself to the rsm after being reported for wheelspinning my car, ha said i should go up and down the runway where its safe. 2 days later i nearly run a jogger over at 140mph running acroos the runway, it was only the bloomin rsm!!!!
Whoops!
Not seen a scran ride before, good variety! As for the tower and hanger walk, good insight for people.
I'm ex military aircrew (30yrs, 8k hrs and 14k sim), inc a tour in the UK (nimrod and SaR heli), didn't shoot an approach to turwest. Plus I'm obviously avid biker! So well done TMF, great combo.
Nice one!
Andy here is some incentive to get to the east coast of Australia. I live at the start of the Great Dividing Range. Have loads of roads up the mountains all across NSW and further. It is winter here and we just had 31 degrees (bit unusual I'll admit). Love your video's. particularly your tours and new bike reviews. Thanks for keeping us entertained with your insights and knowledge. Your bike may be called FOAT, mine are called SAAF 2 and SAAF 3. My fiancée is SAAF 1. I'm sure you can figure the rest out lol
I've plenty of incentive - just lack the time and funds to get down there Steve!! Thanks for watching and for the kind words....

Oh, don't worry, i worked for a big company (Multinational, sector leader...) and i always thought that they treated e-commerce as a bit of a joke (mind you this was 2022-ish), this was confirmed in 2024 when my manager told me that the company discovered that e-commerce was not a fluke.... go figure it out....
Things move on don't they.....
A look around the hangars....oh matron....
😮….what about Aylesbury Duck!
I hadn’t heard of it before I put this video out!
Excellent video TMF, thoroughly enjoyed it! Goodwood is just a few miles from me, so i often bimble in there . The Spitfire and the Harvard are often warming up just outside the cafe. So much motoring history too. Hope alls well with you, cheers Steve
Glad you enjoyed it - and yes lots of goodies at Gooders!
Ah I miss my U.K. rides…😢
I really don’t understand dealership mentality. I have to say I purchased all of my bikes (6 brand new bikes in 5 years). All have been purchased on the back of reliable You Tube reviews. Let’s rewind 20 years when You Tube didn’t exist. I’ve always maintained that content creators reviewing motorcycle are unpaid sales reps, so why wouldn’t dealerships take advantage of this FREE marketing… doh
We’re getting “noshing”… classic 😂😂
Yes I would have thought I was a gift horse (extensive free and favourable publicity) for OYB - but they've decided to not capitalise...their loss I say!! Despite the odd attitude of the Dealer Principle to Social Media value, OYB is still one of the better dealerships I have dealt with....
Deary me. That manager is behind the times. All those subscribers into bikes. Bet he gets some flak. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Yes a bit of an odd one - don’t let that put you off the place though, OYB is a good dealership in my experience….
The finish on the cowling of the Scout is known as Planishing, it is achieved by hammering. As well as the aesthetic finish it hardens the surface. This was on the curriculum in Secondary Modern schools metalwork. Great video. Thanks. PS there is a Wellington exhibit at the Brooklands Museum. Well worth a visit.😊
Aha yes that's the word - I knew it was called something, forgot what....thanks for the reminder.
Andy, I do love these vids... I may even start my own monthly meet up with some pals, over here in the Netherlands Mind you, the café food over here isn't much cop.... Perhaps we can ride to England each month to find a proper cafff hahahaha

Cool clouds! ....and yes I have been to Compton Abbas many times (as you may expect from a PPL).....
Come on down to Biggin Hill airport, there is the Lookout Cafe which you might like

Great video and local to ne so on my “to do/ride” list. Disappointed at the dig at Motto Guzzi bikes, not sure why you have a negative view of them. I have a V85TT Travel which I purchased recently having returned to biking after some 30 years.
I have nothing against Moto Guzzis personally - I apologise if it came a cross that way. My Mrs calls them “moto gutless” and that one having DNF as a number plate was unfortunate!!
