Brian's lift was incredible but Eddie's was even more impressive seeing as he has been retired a while and doesn't really train grip that much now i don't think. These guys are super human!
I wonder how much they are worth! Surely one should go to Brian's collection, and it would be fun to see how much one of them could fetch in a sports auction.
It's a shame juji wasn't on this episode getting to see those plates with Brian, seeing the two of them geeking out hard over the plates and the grip test would of been amazing 😂😂😂😂
“Nick used to train with these” “I actually did used to train with those” perfect lol Also, Brian doing those pinch plates was amazing since it meant so much to him and his grip is top of the top, and seeing Eddie do it was INSANE since he isn’t traditionally know for his grip, but he clearly isn’t someone to discount on this either.
kiddkaos1 maybe, but grip is weird. It fluctuates a lot with fatigue and day to day, and even attempt to attempt if you don’t believe you can do it. I think he could have but a small factor made him not rather than intentionally waiting till Brian did it first
I love how Brian succeeding sparked Eddie to want to try again. Even when they aren’t competing, and they are in a totally chill setting, that competitive drive is still there and I love that.
Even for as brutally strong as Eddie is, you can tell how much eddie was legit impressed with his response to Brian lifting that with ease where he struggled. That says something.
I met Paul Anderson I'm 1978 and he was a man with a great personality. Since I've followed strength & endurance from 1960s I remember seeing Paul's picture in a very old Strength & Health doing a near parallel back squat with 1500 pounds. His hips & legs very large for only a 5'8" man.
They might have done the heavy chalking up outside first because if youve ever chalked up inside before it can start getting in your nose and lungs and makes it difficult to breath. Then imagine doing that in a tiny basement!
I am so thankful that a series like this exists, because through it I'm being able to show my friends and grandparents the sort of thing that gets me out of bed in the morning! Many people consider those interested in lifting heavy things to be brainless Meatheads, history knocked it out of the park greenlighting this series! THIS is what strongman/powerlifting has needed for a long time!

Brian may honestly be one of the most legendary strongmen to have ever gone in the sport to be honest like the man has been 4x worlds strongest man he has been in the top 10s and 5s so many times and like honestly dude how many more near impossible weight challenges are you going to straight up walk all over like they are nothing jesus christ the man is a beast
Also won 3 Arnold Strongman Classic titles, at the hardest possible time to attempt the #1 place, during the almost undefeatable Big Z's reign. the greatest of all time who won it 8 times.
Successfully completing that feat of strength, in Paul Anderson’s old weight room no less. This is probably the absolute coolest strongman accomplishment I’ve ever seen! You guys rock!
It is so fantastic to see these guys paying tribute to a not too well known legend in the history of strong men. Paul Anderson was an absolute wrecking ball of a man.
Being from Georgia I am a fan of Paul Anderson. I delivered a tv to his wife before I knew anything about working out this must of been in the early 2000, it wasnt until later I realized how lucky I was to visit that home . His wife was very nice also.
I used plates like that too back in the day! Getting old😞... What great guys! And what a great tribute to Paul Anderson, who was undoubtedly one of the strongest ever!💪🏼
I saw Paul in person, he came to our Junior High School and did his feats of strength. I don't remember all of them, but he bent bars and put a hankerchief in his hand and started pounding nails through boards with his hand. Had a booming voice. I'm 66.
Seeing Brian geek out over those plates is awesome. It shows his genuine passion for the history of strength sports. Also goes to show you can be a geek for anything, even when you're one of the strongest human beings to ever walk the planet!
If Paul Anderson's York plates were already "priceless", they somehow gained even more value as Brian Shaw and Eddie Hall did that grip strength challenge. Brian and Eddie are legendary in their own rights.
Brian's little grin and thumbs up when he lifted those plates was so adorable. As was his reaction when he sees the plates for the first time. Such a fanboy moment.
Brian does a lot of grip training but addmitedly made it look very easy but it still puts into perspective how strong eddie is without training for it, huge feat of strength for both of them
When I was in Middle School or high school I don't remember which, Paul Anderson came to our school and did a show where he drove nails with his hand and picked up a table with 18 PPL sitting on it and damp some steel and other things that I can't really remember. He was larger than life that's for sure.
Paul Anderson was my dad’s hero & one of my childhood inspirations to get into strength training. Thanks so much to the History Channel for putting this all together.

Can you imagine how happy it would make Paul Anderson to know that 2 of the strongest men in history are lifting in his basement and geeking out over his stuff. This show is the best man.
Paul Anderson was an awesome strong guy. In his day, he was the best. He once broke a record for total weight I think at the Olympics while sick as a dog.
I think Brian has the best grip strength in history. The way he lifts the Thomas inch dumbbells, the way he lifted the millennium dumbbell as well. This mans hands have so much power
"In history" but you only mean to say in RECENT history. Angus MacAskill a foot taller than Shaw, bigger hands. Maximinus Thrax, 8 feet 6 inches, wore bracelet as a ring, way bigger hands than Shaw.
Paul Anderson once Lifted Me and five other people on a barbell in the early 70s he drove a 16 penny nail with his fist into a piece of solid Pine what an amazing kind man
What a great video! Entertaining, with the pinch grip contest, but by far going to his house, his family and his workout area was the high point for me.
Just finished watching Lasha Talakhadze at the Olympics and so this video is a treasure. I followed Paul Anderson while I was a 130 pound kid in high school (1954-1957). My favorite memory was reading that Paul won a foot race against some lower weight category lifters during a break in Tokyo (if memory serves). It was a short race. The explanation was that weight lifters had to have an explosive kind of power because they trained to use all that power very suddenly. But other stories said that Paul was a very fast lineman playing high school football so . . . maybe he was simply one of those people who are very quick . . .
One thing I especially liked about the series is that the guys called BS on the record when needed. Like the cannon carry, it was obvious that nobody just picked up 1100lbs to their shoulder. Cut to the Icelandics, and you can tell them that someone from Iceland lifted two horses with one hand in the year 938, and they'd all be "yes very impressive achievement, much respect from us all".
I love how these guys are fierce competitors AND great mates, so refreshing and nice to see, also it was great that Eddie went back and tried the lift again, I think everyone needs friends like that..that make you strive forward
Great job. Brian looked like a kid in a candy shop when the York plates came out. It's great that he knows all the history of strongman and it's equipment. Brian lifting those plates so easly, WOW!
