I think a good sounding/running engine with a lumpy N/A cam, is a perfect set up for fun in that car.

And according to Richard's tests he can still turbo later on, if it's a good cam and makes power it will still make power under boost...Pretty much no reason not to make it sound absolutely gnarly.

Finishing up my LS4 / G96 (996) in my 81' Delorean as we speak. In my initial research stages I stumble across a lot of the Fiero swap material. Great thing about this engine is I think the Fiero and DeLorean guys are the only ones out there looking for them. Not super hard to find and not a ton of money. I'm really interested in throwing a turbo on mine probably after watching your video series. Great work!

I so remember back in the 80s when people were putting small block engines in these before LS engines were made! These new engines are so much smaller and will be so much easier to swap.Good luck with this should be Damn fun!!I almost bought one of these brand new in 86 or 87 and wanted to do this

I've seen several supercharged L67/32 swaps(3800 V6), and even turbo 3800s done to these Fieros, and they are incredibly crazy fast. I've been wanting to see an LS4 swapped Fiero for awhile now. Only heard talk about it, but no action lol. Trans is probably going to be the Achilles heel of this. Trans gets blown up a lot even behind the big V6 builds. Just don't throw a turbo on that LS and you'll probably be ok lol. Awesome bro

got to upgrade that transmission to a 5/6 spd trans. The later stock getrags have 3.7 final ratio gearing. When you get a trans, check to see what gearing it has to match the cam. What I am REALLY interested in is HOW you will do the exhaust around the subframe, or if you will keep a cat on it.

LS4 swaping in a Pontiac Fiero? Shoot people use to use a Cadillac V8 swap in the Lamborginni kit cars by extending the frame 11 inches for the kit bodies on Pontiac Fieros. I know this idea is going to work really good!

Not the first time this has been done in the 90s the guy who built and perfected the v8 swap for these was killed in an accident when the fiero he was driving went up and caught wind under it and went over. A roll cage and wheelie bars are highly recommended i built one with an Is for a friend it was fairly stock except we had the transaxle built used a 4000 stall and it went 6:70 6:60s in an 8th mile that was a motor making mabe 450hp ! We also did a 69 or 68 VW beetle with a Cadillac 500 in the back that was another dangerous car if you want an even more fun project those beetles work a lot better with a v8 out back

Over here in Europe American V8's aren't that easy to get hold of for cheap.
The LS4 shares the same bellhousing pattern as the Cadillac Northstar though.
The Northstar is actually affordable over here (about $1000 for a running engine, €600 for a HG failure) because they have the head bolt problems. This is easily fixed though with M12 head bolts or a stud kit.
You can use a combination of Chevy, Jeep and ford off the shelf parts to create a RWD version.
I was going this route with my project but an Mercedes OM606 turned up locally and I went superturbodiesel instead.

With the lighter flywheel it should rev up and down a bit faster than the larger traditional LS cars...with the cam and heads I bet it's gonna sound insane....Imagine that thing with ITB's...

Flat stone hone is better than ball by far. The problem with the ball hone is if you have and waves in the cylinder the ball home will follow the contour of the waves in the cylinder. The flat stone will stay flat and not cause anymore accentuation of any waves or distortion and show you where there may be any issues. Common mistake. Ball hones have their place but only light use and after you know there’s no cylinder wall distortion.

the stone hone is a much better option. due to the fact that it will completely flatten the side of the cylinder walls. The ball hone will ride in the depressions and just polish them, there is no resistance for a proper hone.

I agree with that, but there's also the problem that if the cylinder does have any ridges, it could ride on the ridge until its honed down and wear into the surrounding areas. Idk if I'm explaining it right. I've also seen the stones fall off and gouge into the cylinder walls. But each of them definitely has its own advantages

I know it’s an odd question but if this is the metric pattern does that mean it should bolt up to a 3.4 v6 t5 in a rwd platform? Reason for the question is trying to find a slimmer rwd bellhousing for my tunnel in a mgb

if you ever do decide to go the g6 f40 swap if you get a parts car can you let me know those are getting extremely rare being there was only 3500ish made, willing to drive out and buy what s left of the powertrain, cv axles, clutch pedal, shift controls, etc that you dont use as everything is discontinued with very little off the shelf aftermarket support . just mention me here or where ever. thank you, ps that is gonna be a riot to drive once your done.
