"The fact that real human lives are going to depend on you one day, really scares me" This is so true, given the way people are taking education these days, the fact that these students will one day be the Doctors, Engineers, Bankers and Law makers really scares me.
So true... Once I gave my students a simple task (basic programming for chemists) - write a program that calculates the n in the equation pV = nRT, reading the values of p, V and T from the keyboard, using R as a constant. Most of the students wrote a formula for n such as: n = pV / nRT...
They actually made it a CS class. If you notice Prof Chu says. Oh Computer Science let's just start with how did we get away with calling it a science XD
Wow. Just wow. I've actually only met students for office hours after they've gotten bad grades on homework. I had one kid ask me to just do the problem for him. I showed him how to solve it, and then suggested that he be able to solve the problem himself eventually. He told me he wasn't paying $25,000 per year to learn how to "do it himself." And then N told him, if you want to be (fill int he blank occupation) and get payed, you'll HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO DO IT YOURSELF.
A girl who I know is a psychology student at the local university works at my local supermarket, when the register malfunctioned she could not calculate the change of 16:85 when I gave her a 20....it's not just the way people take education, it's also that people are pushed into education levels they just cannot handle by society/parents, and to make up for not 85% of their students failing (bad ratings, oh no!) way too many people succeed >.>
When I was doing TA (for 2 semesters), there's always one guy in both classes, asks every weird question he could think of, looked like a hard working person, and I had to HUNT HIM DOWN to get his homework two days after it's due...urgh such a pain
I don't know about you, but here at UBC CS some students complain that there are no TA office hours, even if the instructor has plenty of them... TAs are not as scary as some instructors...
Questioning him to find the solution himself only works if he has a clue of what he is looking at. In this case he clearly does not so it would be best if she would take him back to the basics. As that may be really time-consuming she may need to give him deadlined homeworks, an opportunity to ask questions for help and checks to make sure that he is on track.
classic problem of american education - get the answer no matter whether you understand the formula or not - theory doesn't matter - just use the formula and start plugging in numbers as soon as you can;
I guess what happens is that the bright ones don't need to come to TA office hours... Which doesn't mean that the average ones couldn't make good use of them.
I find it a stretch to see how complementing someone's appearance in a respectful way is sexism. If it's in an offensive tone, then it's just plain rude, of course.
I find all those comment about how the actress is "stunning" or how they'd go to her office hours to be sexist and disturbing. Please stop that. (I am a guy btw.)
Translation: Give me the answers to the homework so I can go home.

There's always that one student.

The TA is a physicist and they are talking about physics, but the problem sheet is ironically a CS problem sheet.
+Kabelo Moiloa Remember, if you say CS has nothing to do with a physicist, he/she will smack your head.
That could be part of the syllabus
simulations mybe. that is if they are studying cosomo
They actually made it a CS class. If you notice Prof Chu says. Oh Computer Science let's just start with how did we get away with calling it a science XD
@@kanding3369 and you got away from understanding what I said XD

she is beautiful.....
I love when smug pre-meds fail.

I thought he was gonna say "can I.... have.... your number?" :) I'd ask her.

I do agree. Now I know how did my lecturers feel about me, as I am assisting my Prof to serve his "barefoot" student(s).
My favourite lazy student line is “I have no idea what’s going on LOL”
She's beautiful(:
she's a real physicist btw doing Phd at Caltech, undergrad at be Maryland
Aryaman Mishra her name or IG @? for research purposes only please
She looks like a Disney princess.
shes so darn beautiful, but yes great job with these episodes.
Yea, I generally just get my grading done during office hours. Every once in awhile a student might actually show up.
I like that the problem ask for : " write de procedure rotate-left. " and the answer is a number !!!
they have just softened it. It happens during class, indeed.
she looks like piper perabo , im in love
wonderful... forgotten all this.. good to remember.
Sometimes they do but it is right before the midterm or final.
LOL how did he even pass entrance exam & stuff?
I don't have a TA. But the questions are the same. All the time.
Ah... I love her! I'd go to TA office hours, every hour!
"I didn't actually do any of it"
"Lmao, then gtfo!"
Alex Lockwood is the most profoundly adorable woman I have ever seen.
The guy looks like he's in a frat.
Damn this is so accurate😂 trust me these kinds of students need to be dealt with some real patience!
The question starts as write the procedure for something and the answer is 7. LOL.
I don't know about you, but here at UBC CS some students complain that there are no TA office hours, even if the instructor has plenty of them... TAs are not as scary as some instructors...
All kidding aside, teaching is a lot of fun most of the time!
I'd be tempted to ask questions I already know.
cant you release the movie for free please
This is actually hilarious. And real.
I had a student got mad at me and hit the desk because I said I don’t know.
It's seven dude.You are correct.
I know this feeling... from both sides now!
I guess this is how my chemistry teacher felt towards me :(
Priceless!!!!!

I want to watch this movie free online. Any help
Detlef Krömker brought me here.
Wow, I'm not even a teacher and this made me cringe so hard. O.o
I feel exactly like her every time I try to talk to a religious person.
Sounds like a medical student !!
wow awesome girl,, you are amazing,,
I made this comment before I even finished watching the video ... too funny ...
This is hilariously insane !
SO REAL!
I had to watch it again cuz the teacher is hot and funny
*correction, and then I told him

You're clearly not asking the right questions then.
Students are a pain...
He is so cute...
they do! ...the day before the test!!!!!!!!!
She's cute.

Alex
I guess what happens is that the bright ones don't need to come to TA office hours... Which doesn't mean that the average ones couldn't make good use of them.
what is she there for if shes not helping
Hahaha that's so funny 😂😂😂😂
100% accurate
Bad questioning!
Then again, I am probably just really bitter because my memory sucks and I lack people skills. ^__^'
I find it a stretch to see how complementing someone's appearance in a respectful way is sexism. If it's in an offensive tone, then it's just plain rude, of course.
AMEN!
dude...
This is me।😂😂
