  • After 3 years sitting of the road my favorite V12 Jaguar, my 1977 Jaguar XJ12, is finally ready to be back on the road! In this video I tackle the fuel leaks in the back, reassemble the car and fit different tires. If all goes well the car can be inspected in a few days!

    I forgot to mention that this car has a name now, Stevie! It’s from Stevie Nicks from Fleetwood Mac. I read somewhere that she has an XJ12 in the same color and year as this one

    Nice job. I would find it hard to stop driving that wonderful car, how can you not love a V12? Like the name too.

    Scotty Kimble calls her (Or for that matter, any Power-Prety-Cat) a Money Pit but I'm one hundred percent with you in Calling her a pure "Class". A Gem. A treasure. That is only if you have ever rid it once!

    Hi Adam. Happy days ! That garbage truck was probably a blessing in disguise , (the gearbox) but l had to chuckle as it drove past in your rear view mirror ! I think she looks terrific dressed with those whitewalls and standard wheels .l think l prefer these to the Kent Alloys. I was fortunate enough to drive a number of these back in the 70 's /80's and repainted the exact same car . They are superb works of engineering , although at times frustrating . Thanks Adam.

    There's 12 reasons to like Stevie and they are in the front turning the back wheels. Does that spaghetti fuel system design seem to have a purpose other than simplified manufacturing? I can think of a few things that could be done to clean up the placement of the lines. I'm thinking hoses are cheaper than tubes by the foot.

    • @LivingWithAClassic
      @LivingWithAClassic  2 роки тому

      Yes there’s 12 reasons! Not sure if they could of made it much simpler. It’s early days of fuel injection and pretty complicated with two separate tanks that both need separate returns

    Great video! Rubber fuel hoses with a slight smell is definitely an issue with my custom tank on my XJ40. I will probably have to replace these hoses of the finest Amazon quality with true quality hoses.

    Hi Adam
    my 69 E Type OTS boot stunk of petrol. Bad enough on a long trip to give me a headache. On short trips my clothes reeked of petrol.
    The fault was a badly perished fuel filler rubber connector hose to the tank -- I replaced it with a Gates hose and now there is no smell. As a maintenance precaution I also replaced all the fuel line and tank air vent hoses and tightened all tank/ fuel pump connections.
    Happy ending.
    Grace Space and Pace !

    Great work Adam well done! I personally would rather normal tyres on the Kent alloys than these white walls

    • @johnmoruzzi7236
      @johnmoruzzi7236 2 роки тому +1

      I agree, the Kents are sporty… the whitewalls are more suited to the white ‘luxury’ V12 car but don’t quite look right with those silver-grey steel rims… with the white circle, black inner tyre, chrome trim ring, silver wheel centre and chrome hub cap there is too much going on. Ideally (for me) this car would get some lovely ‘Vanden Plas’ chrome rims (see the Iain Tyrrell video) but these rims could be trial painted in white to remove one extra colour ? In any case I’d like to see the green XJ6 on the Kents this year with whatever spare tyres are available !

    • @Thanos.m
      @Thanos.m 2 роки тому

      @@johnmoruzzi7236 considering the XJ12 was the "sporty" model I think the Kent's are a great fit for it. The luxury model was the Daimler double six which I think was what Ian Tyrell had at his shop. These white walls on these wheels on the white car give me a bit of a weding car look personally

    Without a detailed schematic to study, this comment may be an ignorant misconception, but whovever designed that fuel system didn't seem to be thinking "Simplicate and Add Lightness". (or symmetry, either). It looks like something thought up by a horny octopus.

    • @LivingWithAClassic
      @LivingWithAClassic  2 роки тому

      I wouldn’t want to meet that octopus!
      It’s pretty early days of fuel injection
