There's something about these players that just... makes me motivated yet rather jealous. They are around my age, yet doing so much more. They are sponsored and making big money from playing a game I've been playing for almost 4 years. I haven't made any waves in my local scene despite how many hours I pour into this game. I think it really goes to show how amazing these players are. We can rant about Snake or Cloud, how they are broken or whatever, yet we ourselves (myself very much included) will never bring out the brokenness at top level. I've come to better understand how tough this journey is to the top, especially now. Sparg0 and Hurt deserve to be where they are right now. No amount of jealousy in my heart will change that. I'm very appreciative of this scene. It's very messy but there are some gorgeous pictures hidden under the rubble. I don't think I'll amount to that much in the end of it all, especially now that I'm just that "lame hopeful Corrin player," but I can at least appreciate the players who bring us these great sets and make these events so much more wonderful to watch.

It’s like me saying Shuton easily beats NA players like Light, Maister, Dabuz, MkLeo, Sonix, ShinyMark, Zomba, Onin, Marss, BeastModePaul and Riddles and that’s 95% of NA top players

We know that Japan is better than NA but that doesn't mean there needs to be this constant comparing lol. NA players are more than capable of making top 8 and already have several times... not to mention the winner of this tournament has won Japan's most prestigious tournaments. Everybody should just be humble and play the game.
Rankings are determined by several tournaments over an extended period. We started a new season very recently, and this was one of the first tournaments of the season. So, Sparg0 winning this puts him in a good position to be ranked number 1 for the first half of 2025, but it doesn't automatically grant him this rank. However, Sparg0 was already the number 1 player before this tournament started, because he performed the best out of anyone during the second half of 2024. In addition, the person he dethroned wasn't Mkleo. It was Acola, who dethroned Mkleo back in the first half of 2023. So Sparg0 is the third official best player in the world in this game's competitive history. Mkleo: number 1 from the end of 2018 to the end of 2022. Acola: number 1 from the start of 2023 to the halfway point of 2024. Sparg0: number 1 for the second half of 2024, it remains to be seen if he'll keep that title.
I think Sparg0 is finally the definitive best ultimate player of the current era. That being said I really hope at some super major, Leo and Sparg0 are in grand finals so I can make an obligatory, "Strongest in History vs Strongest of Today" comment. Preferably, Leo goes through losers brackets while beating other top players. I wanna watch this imaginary tournament so bad. It'll be so hype
