Long blurb ahead. Something fun that I noticed is Charlotte's wardrobe along the series. You'll notice that before she became a mermaid, she mostly wore skirts and white shirts. The skirts could be a reminder that she is rather feminine and girly, and the white shirt could mean that, having just been introduced, she is still a white canvas that can become just about anything. Then, as soon as she's become a mermaid, her wardrobe doesn't change drastically but you can definitely notice that it's not the same anymore. She starts interchanging between skirts, both long and short pants, and dresses and most notably you will notice that she has worn every color the other girls have worn - red for Rikki, blue for Emma and pink/purple for Cleo, all up to where she predominantly wore pinks and purples. To me, this just shows that Charlotte didn't really have an identity of her own, she just took bits and pieces from the other girls until she ultimately tried to become and replace Cleo, the person that she despised so much. Then, once she's stripped of her powers and goes to apologize to Lewis, she's wearing a black shirt, the complete opposite of the white shirt she had when she first met him, thus symbolizing that she has grown, learned from her mistakes and changed. Maybe I am looking too much into it but it was actually fun coming down to this theory.

Im not siding with Charlotte because she turned really awful and power hungry. But can we all agree that the girls wasnt so nice against her aswell? especially Rikki. She was really awful. Charlotte wanted to belong in the start and the girls didnt really let it happen. If the girls treated me like they treated Charlotte even before she was a mermaid i wouldnt be nice to Chloe, Rikki and Emma either.
I agree 100% as I rewatched I saw that cleo had taken her diary and read it out of jealousy that Charlotte was hanging out W Louis even tho cleo broke up with him and the fact that riki was also just plan awful to her like the way she just death stared her when she found out she had her power and Emma’s power to. So in a way what happened could also be considered just as much the main girls fault then hers (so in a way it was in fact all of their faults for what happened)
The only reason they were against her to begin with was because cleo didnt trust her. Naturally, her friends are gonna stick with her simply cuz she was making a move on Lewis even though even Charlotte could see that Cleo still liked him- even after they broke up. They never hated her in the beginning, she was disgusting in her behavior, especially when she wanted to be a mermaid just to get Lewis' attention and time of day
The main girls always get a pass for their behavior because they're "the protagonists" and i'm i'm sick of it! Most of the time they're the awful ones! Same in the seddle club! Veronica wasn't wrong for being awful to the 3 main girls because they were always jerks to her!
Charlotte wasn't wrong to be a bit paranoid, though. Lewis WAS hanging out with Cleo a lot and they did still clearly have feelings for one another. It's just Charlotte's bad luck that her character was always meant to be the antagonist in the Cleo-Lewis romance.

She just wanted to be a part of the girls but unfortunately they completely disregarded her thus fueling her anger and taste for revenge. She could’ve had a good character redemption but her story lived shortly.
I understand this to an extent, but she's not a victim, her actions were solely bc of her, yeah the girls may have treated her not so nicely, but that doesn't give Charlotte the right to do what she did. Like if I was treated like Charlotte, I wouldn't have gone to the extent to get rid of those girl's powers, I think the girls treating her not so nicely was just a little push for her real feelings to come out

I rewatched the series and honestly... i guess the girls are also guilty for what happened to Charlotte . Just remember Ricky who didn't want accept Charlotte from the very beginning and was quite mean to her. And moreover, we can see that the girls were angry at Charlotte when they got to know she had 3 powers and i guess it was envy .. Charlotte also didn't deserve such a bad attitude. and we may suppose that it wasn't the first time when she was treated like that. her soul was just so broken . unfortunately, i didn't understand her at all when i was a 9 year old girl watching these series but now i can see the problems
Charlotte was a terrible person! They weren't acting that way toward her for no reason. You can't excuse her nasty behavior and call her victim that's such BS
Charlotte was very reckless with her powers and has a lot of close calls of someone seeing her. She didn't deserve to be a mermaid. Also she was no match for Cleo, Emma and Rikki during that fight. She may have had all their powers but its was 3 against 1. Plus she couldn't do lightning like they could
Cleo, Emma, and Rikki were messed up for doing that to her tbh. I don’t care how mean she was to them she only became that way after the things they did to her. Growing up and Rewatching The series for me is realized that Charlotte wasn’t exactly wrong for some of the stuff that she did in retaliation to them.
Emma and Rikki were indifferent to Charlotte at first. It wasn't until she kept getting into their business that Rikki started to dislike her. After, it was how Charlotte kept pushing and controlling that Rikki really started to hate her, and Lewis's birthday is when Emma began disliking her. Cleo disliked her because of how Charlotte went after him so quickly and then how everyone else seemed to love her. That tends to happen with teenagers.
Let's be real Charlotte was only cruel because of the power that she had which made her selfish and cruel and use her power for herself she was just power absorbed
After Zach being a merman was hereditary and hidden and activated by the moonpool, my theory is that Charlotte is the same. When you have an ancestor who is a mermaid and your transform, you get the full package.
Charlotte shouldn't be seen as a villain, but rather as a victim of mistreatment. The girls rejection and coldness towards her pushed her towards that dark path, not herself. When she was first introduced, she was so kind and generous, and had that warm spirit about her. Her initial interactions with the girls were only her attempting to be friends with them and be accepted. Because remember, she was new and didn't have any friends yet. However, the sad reality was that instead of trying to be her friend and make her feel accepted and welcomed in a new place, especially as a mermaid and accepting her into the group, they just decided to be mean and bully her. It was their dismissive attitudes and refusal to accept her that set the stage for her becoming a villain. And yes she had a crush on Will, but did she try to steal him from Cleo? No. She just had a crush like a normal teenager does! And the whole Cleo reading her diary should've made me see from the start who the real villains were, because wtf was that? Watching it again, all the girl did was breathe and it was a problem🤷🏻♀️ And to add, because I saw someone call her manipulate, answer me this. Was she manipulative before or after Cleo read her diary and became a jealous as-hell ex-girlfriend every chance she got? That's what I thought. They didn't get Charlotte as an enemy, they MADE her their enemy.
I'm sorry but this is not a fair analysis she did a lot of mean and cruel things and as it turns out she was totally evil the girls were cautious. She is in no way a victim
I really like Charlotte she just wanted to fit in with them, it's just that she take them differently when they've been trying to help and get close to her. She's so powerful she can even do telekinesis without a moon ring. In Mako mermaids you can only do powerful magic like the ones she does if you have a moon ring.
The full moon comes. Charlotte walks in Looks at picture Jumps in The next day...... Charlotte: Lewis, look. Jumps in water Lewis: Charlotte? She comes up. Lewis: 😨😱
There was nothing with her wanting to know why her grandmother's things are at Cleo's, I hated how she behaved as if the others aren't allowed to dislike her for being nosy and being jealous all the time and use stuff against them when they were only trying to help to begin with

Charlotte lowkey had a point if i found out my grandmother was a mermaid I'd love to be one too
Honestly yea I can agree with that. Also since he know that when the planets were aligned you loose your powers dose that mean the same happend to her grandmother?
@@xx_emma_xx4357 from the little we know of the old mermaids
Charlotte grandmother gave up her powers to become “normal” so yh
I agree. The problem is that Charlotte also did it out of rage and jealousy
@@maria-vw4bb that’s very true considering the first thing she did was show Lewis I assume she did it for his attention
Same lol
@@xx_emma_xx4357 I agree with you the main characters are just as much to blame for Charlotte turning out the way she did (besides herself)
Agreeee so much Charlotte became mean because of the girls, she was so sweet at the start
Charlotte was the only good character here. I hated Lewis and three bitches.
@@roxytirnanog1003 she was not, all of them were not good in this season, they all did petty stuff to each other, leaving tension btw all of them

@@bluud6 Exactly. I don't hate Charlotte but I hate the fact that she was made into a villain.
As a child I hated Charlotte but now that I finished rewatching as an adult, I see her as a victim with a terrible downfall - she was so nice to the girls in the beginning and sure she had a thing for Lewis at first but remember that it was Cleo that dumped Lewis for being too lovey dovey. She just wanted to be a part of the girls but unfortunately they completely disregarded her thus fueling her anger and taste for revenge. She could’ve had a good character redemption but her story lived shortly.
ikr! Growing up is realizing that charlotte is just a victim!
Paranoia gets the best of people in the beginning
@@didintleangelramolefe4437 that's Cleo and Rikki
I understand this to an extent, but she's not a victim, her actions were solely bc of her, yeah the girls may have treated her not so nicely, but that doesn't give Charlotte the right to do what she did. Like if I was treated like Charlotte, I wouldn't have gone to the extent to get rid of those girl's powers, I think the girls treating her not so nicely was just a little push for her real feelings to come out
@@roxytirnanog1003 yes...Emma had tried to integrate Charlotte in their group, but everyone was against her, especially Rikki who is such an introvert person that doesn't like to meet new people!

Yea when I rewatched it I remember when cleo took her diary and read it. when charlotte was introduced, when she became a mermaid and when she became so cruel every episode that showed charlotte i was literally yelling😅 that’s how u know she’s a good actor but ofc i don’t hate the actor she did an amazing job !!
At first, I liked the way that there was a new mermaid in the group and with all the powers. But by watching the whole show, Charlotte became an evil character and I was really dissapointed. She could be Emma, Rikki and Cleo's friend if she hasnt broke Cleo's heart by dating Lewis.
More like being possessive of Lewis. Cleo broke up with Lewis. And yeah I am disappointed that Charlotte was evil.
I agree with everything except the dating Lewis part, he wasn’t with cleo anymore so she had a right to be with him but not get so jealous and controlling
I agree
They rejected her friendship! that's why they wasn't freinds.
I liked the fact that the girls were always ready to help where it was needed she just didn't let them bcoz she thought she was better
She was OBSESSED and clearly toxic with lewis, if it wasn't for that I might have liked her she had all threepowers 👁👄👁
Honestly same I really do get some of the points ppl are making about that she shouldn’t of been a villain but bc of how controlling she was and toxic she was towards Louis I can’t like her or 100% agree with them
He never even cared for her...you can't blame her. Also she had every right to act as she did.
This!!! they Always bullied charlotte; they stole her grandma's necklace and she charlotte deserved to be a mermaid, cauze her grandma was
Charlotte was a terrible person! They weren't acting that way toward her for no reason. You can't excuse her nasty behavior and call her victim that's such BS
@Onestamente so excuse the fact that she's a huge b word who had disgusting behavior?????? Yall are so.....
Charlotte was very reckless with her powers and has a lot of close calls of someone seeing her. She didn't deserve to be a mermaid. Also she was no match for Cleo, Emma and Rikki during that fight. She may have had all their powers but its was 3 against 1. Plus she couldn't do lightning like they could
They reason they could do the lightning and she couldn’t was because they combined all three Powers. She could only use one at a time
Power to truth
BEST ANTAGONIST!!!!
I don't understand why everyone hates Charlotte! At first, it's Cleo and the other two who are mean to her.
8:31 THIS WAS COMPLETELY EPIC ELITE ENTIRELY AMAZING
I LITERALLY WATCH THIS EPISODE EVERY DAY
The actor of Charlotte is so good for making us hate her character so much
Let's be real Charlotte was only cruel because of the power that she had which made her selfish and cruel and use her power for herself she was just power absorbed
After Zach being a merman was hereditary and hidden and activated by the moonpool, my theory is that Charlotte is the same. When you have an ancestor who is a mermaid and your transform, you get the full package.
Boa 😃
What about mimi? His girlfriend, she got the full package as well
@@Thesolutionist77Mimi is his sister, and the girl's name was Evie
Charlotte has always been my fav! Queen evil Charlotte period❤️❤️✨
I really like Charlotte she just wanted to fit in with them, it's just that she take them differently when they've been trying to help and get close to her. She's so powerful she can even do telekinesis without a moon ring. In Mako mermaids you can only do powerful magic like the ones she does if you have a moon ring.

They all do their powers without a moon ring and mako mermaids is based on this show but they changed somethings

Something I never understood was how this was even possible. Like weren’t people only able to become mermaids every 50 moons? And there’s one moon per month. And by this Time in the show it’s only been a little over a year since they became mermaids.
The every 50 moons is more related to Mako Mermaids or to the every 50 years the moon and planets align to make a powerful force that will take away a mermaid's powers if in the moon pool under the full moon. A person can become a mermaid any month if they are in the moon pool under the full moon.
