    My dad was in the Air Force in 1981-1989. He still folds all of his clothes according to code. It’s actually hilarious. He fights my mom on how she folds his clothes to the point where she just gives him a basket full of all of his stuff to let him do it himself. He also made me fold all of my t-shirts the way you folded the Sand Tee. He didn’t do a full check but he did adjust them if something was “off.” I still do it because it saves space.

      Different strokes for different folks. 1981-2007 here and never folded anything after Basic. My OG 507s and subsequent uniforms got heavy starch at the cleaners and that was it. We did measure everything we folded in Basic of course.

    You two made my evening. I was in AF from 75 through 79. Got a demerit for a hair in my comb. Will always be grateful that I served. Thank you both for your service. Enjoy it and travel as much as possible. When you get older, you'll be glad you did.

    I enlisted into the Air Force on 7 Jul 1972. Yes, that was quite a few years ago. To this day, I still fold my underwear and socks the same way as in BMT. Thanks for showing how to fold/roll T-shirts. Will definitely come in handy to save space. We did not have any T-shirt type items back in the day. I absolutely love your uniforms compared to what we had. Thanks again, and thanks for your service.

    Just a heads up. The sand t initial fold was incorrect. Your laundry mark has to be down so when properly displayed it needs to show down and to the right in the drawer.

    You two missed the main point.... Tell everyone "WHY" the Air Force has you do things like this? Do you even know why? The truth is, the Air Force really doesn't care how you fold your clothes after Basic Training. This is basically 'Brainwashing" The Air Force wants to TRAIN you to..... "PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL"... YOU MUST BE A MACHINE... YOU MUST PAY ATTENTION TO EVERY DETAIL..
    Reason? You might become a maintenance tech on an ICBM... oops, you "FORGOT" something... oops, you blowup half of Montana. oops... PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL ! Clip those loose threads ! Line EVERYTHING UP STRAIGHT !! "DO AS YOU ARE TOLD AND INSTRUCTED" You might be working on an aircraft one day, that pilot is putting HIS LIFE in your hands... PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL !!!
    The MOST IMPORTANT thing you can take to Basic Training and Tech School.. is.... "PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL"
    That is all... as you were.

    A Lil secret bout clothes in basic is to fold n space all clothing then don't touch it again. Live out of ur laundry bag, wear 1 of each n keep 1 of each in laundry bag n wear n wash the 2 till u graduate.Ull nvr be able to get all the edges flush again if u wash all ur stuff.

    • @kaam..
      @kaam.. 6 років тому +5

      Shon Seibert so only wear 1?

    • @amak1131
      @amak1131 5 років тому +2

      @@kaam.. Or a few. It has been a while, but I recall our TI had a "minimum" in our drawer for inspection... and conveniently, it would give us enough for a laundry day. Besides undies, maybe wear some things twice and you always had a "display" item that never got touched.
      Now, at home you may go "ew, they'd reek" but... everyone has the BMT smell, it doesn't matter :p

    • @krisk9863
      @krisk9863 4 роки тому +6

      Depends on the TI. Some TI's like to sneak items like pennies (or hair pins) into folded clothes. If they find it during next inspection, you get a demerit.

  • @genewilkerson8528
    @genewilkerson8528 4 роки тому +9

    In basic we had everything folded. We wore one item while the other was in the laundry. We went through those 2 items the whole time during basic so we did not have to fold everyday.

    When I was in basic training (1990) we split up in the evenings and people broke into groups, some people did beds, other clothes, I personally (with two other guys) shined everyone's boots. I never folded clothes and rarely even did my bed (but sometimes you have to if you're on the spot) - I shined boots, all the boots all the time. I really good at it, and could do it quickly as was the case with the other people who did their respective jobs. Even arranging it in the locker was a job that only a few people did, and they did it for everyone. If you're going to BMT bring it up the the dorm chief and maybe you can do it that way also. We exempted the latrine queen and his guys because they had a shit job and were awesome at it and everyone paid extra attention to their shit. Basically, it was an assembly line of evening tasks and it was very effective. Good luck, it does suck, but it's only 8 weeks. The rest of the time in the Air Force is basically hardly different from having a civilian job.

    WHAT! They have gone soft apparently. What happened to the hours spent with tweezers to get the edges of your shirt perfectly even and in a 6 inch square? None of this would have passed when I went through. It would have all ended up in a pile on the floor and you would have latrine and KP duty for a week. I will say I loved the time that I served. Goof for you guys for trying to help others out. I am a proud retiree. Keep up the good work Airmen.

      I remember the 6 inch square t-shirt folding and plucking the edges with tweezers. I went in 1990. We had an airmen that specialized in everything from polishing boots, to folding clothes, and making beds. We helped each other out tremendously. I miss those days because we really bonded.

    When I went through in Dec 92-Jan 93. Some things have changed. One thing my TI told us once you get your display folded correctly do not touch that's all I look at in depth. Just make sure the daily ware make isn't sloppy or I will inspect everything and toss what is wrong onto your bed and floor. Also we had no pt suit we did pt in our bdu's however we did have cheep track shoes though. We did have one guy if you couldn't fold worth the crap he would do it for a favor to be named later.. Like during base lib he would have you buy him some supplies. If you didn't better watch out cuz while on dorm gaurd and everyone is out on pt he would mess with your stuff just to get you busted. (I kinda liked my TI cuz we where his last flight before heading off to OTS so the last few weeks he got a little soft)

    When I went through in 1978, I had my wall locker display, I lived out of my laundry bag

  • @rishibeauty8889
    @rishibeauty8889 4 роки тому

    Skipped right over folding the bag. That was my job. It’s the hardest to get flushed- used tweezers. I was the bag lady. I did every bodies bags but that’s all I did. Gradually I ended up doing everyone’s a couple times. I slept on them to get them perfect. TI knew which ones were my fold and told the sloppy girls to trade or be nice to me to get the proper bag fold. When I heard that- it was a HUGE compliment.
    Our flight lost honor flight because brother flight was so terrible. MAJORLY unfair, but that’s the way it was. The females were told to go in the male side and we were buddied up. The females outdid brother flight in everything. But we lost honor flight because of their f ups.

    Just to note in the older squadrons,322 at least anyway, the PT display is different, it gets hung on the end of the bed not on the locker.

    • @MartinProductions
      @MartinProductions  8 років тому

      Since most older squadrons are getting closed eventfully that information will be irrelevant to about 75% of the people who watch this

You got 4 uniforms, you wore it one day, then tossed it into the dirty clothes bag... to go the the cleaners, to be washed and STARCHED AGAIN... You wore that uniform EVERYDAY.. even in PT Physical Training. ALSO you wore heavy 100% leather combat boots to run in. YES RUN. Fully STARCHED uniform and black combat boots, in that Texas heat and humidity.

    Back in BMT when someone messed up bad, we would take an unfolded sock and put a rolled up sock inside and beat the shit out of them at night when our MTI left. The punishment always seemed to be effective.

    What do you do with your civilian cloths once you get to BMT? Do you fold them up with the rest of your stuff, or just keep them in your suitcase, or something else?

    • @SalvadorVlogs
      @SalvadorVlogs 8 років тому +6

      They're kept in the bags you brought with you to basic and placed in a secure location(closet that might be in your dorm that your MTI has the key to) and you'll get them back when you're done.

    • @RowdyBrian17

    • @SalvadorVlogs
