The Panda Garra is amazing. I just introduced two to my tank recently and cleaned up the algae on the glass in a short time. They are very entertaining as they are very energetic. Plus, they only cost me $2.50 each. Cheap entertainment.

Years ago I fishless cycled a tank (with ammonia) and when the cycle was complete, about 3 weeks later, I had a ton of hair algae throughout the tank. I purchase a few platys and put them in the tank. They drilled through that algae like it was cotton candy. It was a riot to watch them eat it. Within a day or two, they gobbled it all up, and I never saw it in my tank after that.

Excellent video, thank you very much for this information I hope you download more of these videos that contain this huge amount of information. Keep going.❤
I always hear people say Chinese algae eaters get aggressive and stop eating algae but I had one for years in a 55 gallon and I had people asking if my tank just got cleaned when it hadn’t been cleaned in three years and it was never aggressive towards any of my other fish🤔
Mystery snails are generally considered to not eat live plants but I have an absolute devil of a mystery snail who ate every. single. plant. in my tank. Every single one. Total annihilation. He even killed the pothos and houseplants that were feeding at the top. And this is with me feeding him regularly. He is my worst enemy
So true regarding common pleco. I got one when I first started out thinking it was bristle nose pleco. after 1 year in the tank that baby started growing crazy and some fish here and there go missing. the biggest issue I had with it is the amount of waste that fish lays made my planted tank looking ugly as hell. full of algae and later one developed cyanobacteria which made me tear the whole amazing setup I had in it.
My Cherry Barbs eat just as much alge as the Mollies do. Neither are going to keep any blooms under control but between them and the brislenose pleco I really don't have have any problem.
I have a clean up crew that late at night you go out and you see them crawling all over the glass. 1 10" Common pleco, 1 bristlenose pleco, 1 other pleco(not sure kind but hes small) then I got bladder snails, black nerite, some cone snails. Then for substrate the corys, loachs, and some snails keep that tidy. I have a 75G for all for the fish. My main problem im trying to figure out is why there is foam on the top corner. Im thinking it might be either from a peice of drift wood I added or from the nutrient block i added on with a slow timed release food. I did a 70% water change once I got home and it came back. So i think il do another 20% in a day or 2 while watching the peramiters of the water to see what changes every day.
I keep chinese algae eater in my cichlid tanks and ponds and they are great at doing their job and always keep in check by the aggressiveness of cichlids
Honestly, I’d be giving ghost shrimp a D or F, at least for the category of algae-eating… because they won’t eat it! 😂 They’re not Neocaridina shrimp. As you said, they’re definitely good at being organic and food waste janitors…and of course they’ll feast on any algae wafers, and they love to eat any fresh or blanched vegetables that you want to add in. At times, I’ve seen that they’ll dominate a cucumber/zucchini slice, green bean or piece of lettuce and not let ANY fish near it! But that being said, they will eat fresh veggies but not any developed, or built-up algal growth or film. They just don’t care about it. Lol.
my ex had a 10 gallon fish tank with a chinese algae eater and a mystery snail and some glowfish. the algae eater would beat the shit out of the snail all day. i told her to move either one to another tank and finally after months she moved the snail but didnt acclimate it and it died...
Yeah I've had 1 for 3 years, not necessarily great for cleaning glass but great and clearing scraps on the floor and on decorations. Also have that cool glow when they're in the mood.
Due to old lead pipes in my city, I have to buy springwater for my aquarium. Anybody have any idea ideas as to which of these would do best in aquarium with a huge Cory gang and River danio? The octos did not do well...😢
I have a 120x60x60cm tank that I deliberately placed near a window on the sunny side of my apartment to maximize algae growth and after nearly a month, I still had no algae at all, minus a few crevices that were too small for any fish to enter. I finally had the idea to remove my solitary adult Chinese Algae Eater and the difference was like night and night. My tank exploded with algae in just over a week, to the point that I now have to manually scrape algae from the front pane about once per week. For the past several months, that Chinese algae eater has been living in a 150cm aquarium and I have never found algae in it. I definitely don't think F tier is justified.
