- We decided to trade our Airstream 22FB in for an Airstream Basecamp X. The main reason was that the dinette area was too small.

At first I didn’t care at all for the Airstream base camp. I thought they were grossly over priced ( which I still do) But on second thought after a while they do grow on you. Especially the sixteen footer with the front kitchen. I love how much diversity it has , the different way configurations it has to offer. One could use it as a toy hauler, a weekend camper with all the amenities you need. It also be used as a utility trailer if need be. The only down side for me is there is no closet. I am a closet person for storage and hanging clothes. But that is no longer a deal breaker.after I came across a lady who lives full time in hers with a large dog and cat. She has been a inspiration for me. Now the once not at all considered basecame has be one of my favorites.in Airstream products.
We are new friends here. We recorded our tech''s info as well. I did not know about the propane line distance to get the stove started. That answered a lot of questions for me. 😂 He didn't mean a normal surge protector, he described and EMS protector. We dumped the AGM's for Lithium Iron Phosphate (LifePo) batteries so that you got almost 100 of the use of the wattage instead of 50%.
Like us, we never expect anyone to know who we are. I feel for you on that viewer saying, Hello. I guess we both need to pay attention to that in the future. Your rig is so sharp looking and loved all the little storage spots and the wire hiding areas. Once they left you out at the overnight spot, I wonder if you shouldn't have just turned around and pulled in the other way. That was really strange. Loved the Frog City comment. Nice. I've seen these on the road and I always thought they must be for weekend use only. But I can see how people might use these for extended trips. Can't see full time living but some are minimalist.

I was going to say the same thing. Most of these salesmen have no business in that roll. Obvious nepotism. I an the market as well and I can teach these guys a thing or two. Airstream dealers near me know almost nothing. They just state the Obvious like this guy. Make sure to do your own check before taking it off the lot.
Tons Airstream Basecamp in the used Market, still premium priced even as used. People buy these and just roll it over after just a few miles, weird.
Congratulations! That Base Camp should be a little easier for your Pilot to tow than the 22.
I am averaging 20% water usage for a shower using the shower head on and off switch. The problem areas on the 2019 BaseCamp X I have are the roof plastics surround piece can crack and allow water inside the BaseCamp X. I fixed mine with Rust-oleum Leak seal to stop the leak. I also had a front center window where the roof crack allowed water running down the center window inside and during the winter it froze and busted my center window. That was a $2,000.00 repair I paid out of my pocket because I could not figure out at the time why the center window busted and did not file a claim on my insurance. Another area to watch is at the rear door bottom latch water collects at the bottom latch every time it rains and eventually will rust the latch. The Truma heating system works great I like the gas heater/water heater. Overall I am very happy with my purchase of my 2019 Airstream BaseCamp X and yes I would recommend others to buy the RV but learn from my challenges so your RV trips are less hassle. The one improvement I would want to see on future BaseCamp X models would be more solar batteries and more solar panels built into the RV. I added a third Zamp solar panel and it helps keep batteries around 65% charge using the onboard ceiling fan all night in the summertime. I purchased my 2019 Airstream BaseCamp X new last year and I actually had no idea Airstream even made an off-road version but I am glad I found this one model that fits my needs.

Any insight as to what kind of MPGs your Pilot gets pulling the airstream? I think you folks are in California so I recall that trailer pulling means a 55 or 60 mph speed limit - that that would help stretch miles between fill-ups. I am contemplating a new BaseCamp too and hoping that my 2014 Pathfinder would get better MPG than with the larger trailer I currently pull.

Try looking into the sewer solution hose by valterra. It’s a bit more compact and a cleaner process than the traditional stinky slinky.

Question: Do you have any issues with the hot water heater while you’re taking a shower? Asking because I understand it only heats while water is flowing and I imagine you do ‘Navy’ showers where you wet down, turn the water off, soap up, then turn the water back on.

Are you still towing with the Honda Pilot? I bought a 2019 AWD model to tow a forest river Rpod 177. I had the dealer install the transmission cooler, and brake control. We are in Alaska so we just travel to camprounds around the state. After 3 camping trips, my transmission broke and my camper is only 2700 lbs dry weight. Thank God the warranty covered all repairs, but now I'm worried about towing the rpod. The mechanic told me to limit towing to 3500 lbs, even though, I have AWD with transmission cooler. From your videos, sounds like you don't have issues towing with your Honda pilot. I didn't get weight distribution o sway bars, since my camper is small... do you think that would help?
Now that you have had the Basecamp for a little bit. Is the Equalizer anitsway necessary?

I drive an 2005 Equinox Chevy. Can It tow the Basecamp?
Basecamps weigh about 3500 pounds, so a tow vehicle should have a towing capacity of around 5000 pounds to cover the added miscellaneous weight added with gear, water etc
Saw the new 2021. base camp 20 X today and really looks nice. . Any build quality issues noticed on yours so far ?
