Hollywood Sign: 7 Earthquake Scenarios! (simulated)

The Los Angeles area has many faults. Here's a research simulation I made that shows what kind of shaking to expect depending on the earthquake magnitude and how far away you are from the fault rupture. The simulations were created in Blender + Bullet Constraints Builder + Fracture Modifier + SeismoSignal.

I love how you showed the ground movement in these and the direction. I did not know that the Hollywood Fault is a left-lateral fault. The accuracy is also spot on. I noticed the shaking was as strong as in other videos because we were up on a hill with more solid ground. Those low flat areas often have sandy ground or fill so they shake more violently. Living in San Diego, that Elsinore Fault was a little close to home for me haha.

This might be crazy but this video makes me want to come to California even more to see three of California’s greatest sights such as, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Hollywood sign, and the San Andreas Fault line

@@EarthquakeSimI’m curious how or if you’re able to set higher shake intensities and if you can adjust for the difference between a strike slip fault and a thrust fault. Thrust obviously being the more destructive like the northridge 94 quake

Huh, I didn't know they had a parking lot and a seating area that close to the Hollywood sign. Last time I saw video of it, it was a Huell Howser episode, and it's rough country around the sign.
