Thank you for this! You answered some questions I had (and some I didn't realize I had lol). I've been obsessed with soapmaking videos for the last year, and I would like to try my hand at making some one day when my life is a bit more settled. This was very helpful. 💗
Hi anne, i am a big big big fan, you are the reason that i learned in making cold process soap, i always watch your new videos, i am from philippines, a mother of two boys, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING YOUR SOAP MAKING...
Thanks for the information in this video. I have a question, can Oxides and Ultramarines be used in things that are completely oil based? Like a body oil?
My wife and I got a Holiday Gift from an Employee this year, she bought from a Soap Maker ( ETSY ) in Sacramento .We Love Barbara’s Soaps. I bought 12 Bars and Lotion . I sent some as a Gift t my cousin visiting from West Africa in Minnesota. She happens to be passionate Soap Maker back home. After reaching out to Barbara ,She suggested my cousin watch you videos . I have shared your video to Follow you.
Great video love making bath products especially salts and soaks with essential oils I use something similar to the la bomb colorants but they clump a lot and those clumps sometimes color my tub haven't quite perfected a good non clump bath soak
I've always been confused about mixing the oil with the mica. I don't understand if you have to recalculate the recipe or if the oil you're mixing with the mica is already part of the recipe. For example if the recipe calls for 9 ounces of olive oil would you just subtract some of that amount to mix with the mica?
I could use some advice. I have a problem with the colorant I am using not dissolving in the bath water in my bath bomb. The colorant is just sitting on top of the water. Would you mind giving me some tips of solving this problem?
Plz plz plz answer my question... i took 200 gms of melt and pour goat milk soap base to which i have added fresh tamarind pulp... can you please tell me which and how much preservative i should use???
You will want to verify the other ingredients in the eyeshadow to ensure they are safe to be added. If there are non-recognizable ingredients we would not recommend using them.
We use a little extra of a light carrier oil, like sweet almond oil, to disperse the mica. For cold process, we like to start with mixing 1 teaspoon of mica with 1 tablespoon of lightweight oil.
What’s the best way to color lotions? I’ve been using micas but they are draining my skin! I’m not using too much, just enough to get the colors I want. What am I doing wrong and is there a better way to color my lotions?
@@bramble-berry hi, thanks for your answer. I have tried food coloring, the color changes after a while and loses the vibrancy. Is there something specific for lotions and creams I can use?
Hi my name is Hinda I am new soap maker i like you all your soap decorating and how your anwer all questions I made melty clear soap but after I cut it, it started sweating. I'm not sure if the recipe is the problem. What I shall do? Thank you
can someone help me out. if we sweet almond oil / avocado oil isn't in our soap recipe but we still want to use those carriers to dissolve mica, do we still need to somehow incorporate that amount of carrier oil in our recipe? would it affect our recipe? im not sure if we are supposed to "borrow" oil from our soap recipe to use it to dissolve the mica?
I am having a hard time with the percentages or measurements of my colors, what if I want 5 colors in my 2 lb batch? I also don't want them equally split so maybe a bit of pink a bit more of white even more of red etc... knowing I can only use 2 tsp of colorant per 2 lbs of oils ?? ty
Mica is mined in India by children as their family doesn't die on in poverty. But there are charities that try to stop this. But there's a huge demand. Need to check for fair trade.
Some micas will contain ingredients that are not naturally derived. If you have questions about a specific colorant you would like to use our customer support team is available to assist via chat or email on our website, www.brambleberry.com.
Have you looked into using phycocyanin for your soaps? I have a friend who mixed it with glycerine to make a nice dark blue bar of soap. You can reach out to me if you want to know more.
Fantastic!! I was struggling so hard with colorants. This answers alot of questions. Especially why my sandalwood vanilla bars kept turning brown!!

You may want to try a liquid dye instead. We don't carry any but food coloring would be a good option, you would just need a drop or two!

Is there a way to prevent mica that is out in soap from coloring wash cloths?
We have found that keeping your usage rate at 1 tsp of dispersed mica per pound of soap will help prevent the color from bleeding from your lather.
Can you use colourants in perfumery?
Can I use mica in a shower gel?
Mica is mined in India by children as their family doesn't die on in poverty. But there are charities that try to stop this. But there's a huge demand. Need to check for fair trade.
Some micas are mined in unsafe conditions using child labor. Ours are not - we confirmed that with our vendor before bringing any colors in.

Is it safe to use mica in shampoo bars?
It is, we'd recommend using a small amount of mica to limit the possibility of transferring.
