Another beautiful video! Thank you for sharing your life with us… And thank you for being honest about not being ‘up’ at all times when the duties of homesteading await… But, like a real trooper, you rallied and graciously created some wonderful treats that will be enjoyed when the snow is flying and the ground is resting. Hugs from Ohio
Kelsey, so glad you mentioned not feeling it sometimes. Also, so glad you listened to us about the “moving” cutting board!. A friend of mine cut herself badly.
I wish our little strawberry plant was producing more than just 1 strawberry at a time!😂 We tried buying some from our local nursery and garden centers but apparently we were late comers and everyone was sold out! But NEXT YEAR... We'll be better prepared🙏🙂 Great job Kelsey, you are so good at being prepared! ❤
So lovely to watch you! I appreciated your honesty about not feeling like doing something, but pushing to get it done anyway! I always enjoy your realistic approach and just love all the recipes you share!
Kelsey, Your future self will appreciate all the work you put into preserving today. I think we should make a short video of enjoying the fruit of our labor and show it to ourselves on those days when we are overwhelmed with produce and the task(s) ahead. Mary Born, ND
I had an extremely hard time battling the bugs and critters in my garden in California it was so much work just to try and have a small harvest of anything. But now living in an apartment without a garden is so sad, I miss the joy of getting any harvest.
Kelsey, I’m always so encouraged by the variety of recipes you try. I am a very simple, less than creative eater or cook. However, I find myself more open to trying new things when I see someone else actually make something that appeals to me. We LOVE strawberries around here and strawberry jam is a staple for sure. The strawberry recipes you did today are creative, look beautiful and I am certain will be delicious! I will be giving some of these a try for sure! Thank you for sharing with us and I hope you and the family have a wonderful weekend. God Bless You!
Oh YUM! The honey butter looks amazing! Slugs got my sparse berries but found every single one for a nice big slug shovel of a crater missing in each. So happy for you getting enough for all this for your family for winter.
Oh man, those strawberries look so good! I’ve only had a few to eat from my plants. I should plant more! I love pb and banana sandwiches and eat them regularly.
When canning difficult to distinguish items together, I write on the lids with sharpie markers. I can a variety packs alot and have no issues with my marker washing off, even in the pressure canner.
Such bounty! I wish I lived close enough to come buy some of those beautiful berries. And I could sit and hull berries for you. 😊 Everything you preserved looks amazing. ❤️🙏🏻Val C
Now that's a harvest!! This is the first year for my strawberries, i can't wait until next year. I put out 100 plants this year. I have actually gotten a few off them this year and they are so good.
I'm making strawberry jam today too. I didn't get 40lbs of strawberries off my plants...yet. but, I got enough for two batches. This is only my 2nd year for growing strawberries
oh my goodness! that's amazing! i'm barely getting anything, i'm in zone 9b. i tried hand pollinating one spaghetti squash and it failed. now i am only seeing male flowers on the squash plant...so frustrating!
2yrs ago no didn’t have time to preserve so I cleaned the berries and ran them through my food processor to the desired consistency and froze them I had time as well.
Gonna have to try that strawberry vanilla jam. I’ve made Cantelope vanilla jam from a recipe I found online for two years now and it’s one of the best things I’ve ever had.
Hi Kelsey! Loved your video. I am currently working through my pantry. I have a question for you regarding canned products in general. All of my pears that lasted until now have molded on the inside top portion of the jar and on the rim. The seal was good but do you what could have led to this?
You can write on the lids w/permanent marker before they go in the water bath to distinguish contents. =) 30:06 I may need to try making some strawberry butter. That sounds like it would make excellent Christmas gifts. =)
Do you know what kind of strawberries these are. I have tried and tried strawberries, after a winter they die, I cover them with straw but they still died. I bought my strawberries last year from m igardner, reputable place, they had great runners too. Nancy from Nebraska
Your voice is so calming in such a messed up chaotic world. Thank you!
You can freeze dry and freeze strawberries for baking and making shakes and smoothies
Yes! We love using them in smoothies!
If you do mixed batches you can use a sharpie and label your jars before you process them, so they don't get mixed up.

We have made strawberry rhubarb butter the past few years & it’ll be a staple for years to come. Congrats on such a beautiful harvest 🍓

I have never heard of Pomona’s pectin before. This is wonderful, I’m glad I stumbled onto this!

Lucky you!
❤️❤️❤️ I wish I could share with everyone!

If you are one who likes to order bulk things or use Azure Standard - they have pomonas in bulk.

Loved seeing the chickens enjoy the trimmings, but was sad for the other who seemed to miss out.
She got some lol, she seems to forget how to get out of the coop sometimes and into the run!
❤
Kelsey, you are so great with educating us in all your canning and cooking videos. I am so appreciative. Thank you
You are so welcome! Thank you ☺️

That’s awesome! I never imagined growing this many! It’s been many years in the making.

OH MY GOSH I WISH!! I thought you bought them at first!! well done
My husband and I were giggling in delight and amazement as we picked 😂
Lovely!! Wow I love your amazing turn out preserving. They all sound very delicious!
Thanks so much! 😊

It all looks so yummy! I don't have a garden this year but that strawberry butter looks so good!
Thank you! Maybe you can secure a good strawberry buy locally.

Ohhh that sounds so interesting!
Amazing. I thoroughly recommend making Strawberry Top Cordial with your strawberry tops. It's delicious!
Ohhh I’ll do that! Thank you!
I make strawberry vinaigrette with the tops
Yum! That’s a great idea! Currently I’m just supplementing chicken feed with any scraps!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You can make strawberries dipped in chocolate with fresh and freeze dried strawberries
I might try that!
I’ve seen someone powder their freeze dried strawberries and use it in lemonade and sugar cookies

I can't remember if you order from azure but if you do they do have pomonas pectin in 1 lb bags.
Good to know! Thanks ☺️

Ok good! I wasn’t sure if it would stay on or not! Thank you!
😋🤤
❤️❤️❤️
I'm number 225. Hugs from Esquimalt
🤗
You could freeze them until you in the mood
I wish but I’m out of space!
Just do it! 😅
❤️❤️❤️
Can you use brown sugar instead of granulated sugar?
I believe that should be ok!
Do you know what kind of strawberries these are. I have tried and tried strawberries, after a winter they die, I cover them with straw but they still died. I bought my strawberries last year from m igardner, reputable place, they had great runners too. Nancy from Nebraska
I get all my berries from Nourse Farms. The variety is Evie2. I don’t cover mine or really do anything with them!
Did you make strawberry syrup out of the strawberry tops?
I decided to make them chicken food ☺️
I’d freeze dry them
What else comes in will all be freeze dried! ❤️
Soooo.... You have a few strawberries to work with 😂🤣😂🍓
It's a shame that the strawberries float.
😂 I knowww, such a bummer!
I just noticed that you named your freeze dryer Gandalf. That's awesome 😂❤
I gotta ask…. Why does your freeze dryer say Gandalf 😂😂
It’s his name lol. I mean it does perform wizardry 😂
😅
❤️❤️❤️
