Out of all your videos...I like this one most....the country life is it....and the music is the bomb!!! Keep them coming, I look forward to your videos!
I watched like 20 of your videos earlier today wishing you would upload and then you uploaded. I am so lucky. Your videos are great and I like your relaxed style unlike other channels that treat their channel like a business like their lawn service.
You're very good at this. I'm looking up sunhats, Husqvarna equip (trimmers, etc.) and mowing strategies because of you. I enjoy watching your channel and learn from it. Can't really ask for more than that. Keep it up.
Hey Mike, That was Great Footage .... Man those Blades really did a Fantastic Job, you can see the Quality in the Cut ..... That Slow Motion Shot really let me see how much of Quantity of Grass that "SCAG" can really put out.... "Very Impressive"... Thanks for Sharing and Looking Forward to the Real Time Video .....
From what little of the seed heads I could see, the type of grass is known as Crows foot grass, the seed head grows up on a taller stem then branches out with 3 stems that has the seeds along each of the 3 branches and when at that stage it is tougher than wire to cut.
My yard, in town, with plenty of trees & landscaping, is roughly 1.2 acres and I cut it myself. With a riding mower, it's rather enjoyable. Trimming isn't as fun, but we get it done. I often cut my neighbor's yard (1/4 acre) as well. He's older still and not in the best of health, so I don't charge him anything.
I remember a house I lived in up in the Dunedin area of Florida. This tiny 400 square foot house on a 2 acre lot and all I had was a 20 inch troy bilt mower. That grass in the rainy season needed to be mowed once every four to five days. If I let the grass get taller than three inches I could expect to spend six hours mowing instead of two.
They call that water grass in the Midwest. Everytime it rains it grows whenever it's hot it dies is like ryegrass. When it dies it leaves a big hole in the yard. It's like it's just summer grass it's not heat resistant but all it needs is a little sprinkle water in his back to life and working again taking over the yard I think it comes in every bag of grass. I think crabgrass is in every bag. Every time you see the yard crabgrass comes up so you got to get Crabgrass Preventer or some weed control
So I know this is like asking a doctor to diagnose me over the phone, but here's my situation. I have a 36" Big Dog Alpha (residential model) with fabricated deck and 15HP Kawasaki engine. I have a horrible time with Bahia. Like, seriously, no matter what I will always push them over instead of cutting them, or maybe cut it half way up so it is now 9 inches instead of 15. EDIT: To clarify, I can cut MOST of them, but there will be a straggler every few feet, enough that I need to do a whole other pass. Is the fault with my mower? deck? under-powered engine? blades not sharp enough? all of the above? Just looking for your best guess. I am leaning towards not keeping the blades sharp enough, simply because that is the variable that I can guarantee is the worst (I stretch them out a bit longer than I should in between sharpenings, I think). Thank you for any help, and so thrilled about the great dane!
Check to see if your blades are level with the bottom of the deck. Sometimes depending on where you have your spacers, the blades can be recessed. So when the front of the deck pushes the tall stuff over, the blades are up too high in the deck to get them. Those longer vegetation just spring back up when the deck passes. If the blades are all the way at the bottom, they will get them.
Are spacers something I should have had from the beginning? I don't remember having any when I changed blades (but could have just forgotten). If it turns out I don't have any, are there special spacers for each mower, or just get some washers that fit over the spindle?
Great stuff! I mow about 3 of my 4 acres with an old 50" Dixie Chopper I've been nursing along. Still plows thru but I'm giving up on X blades and putting on some Gator Mulchers soon. Heavier areas like the leach field can really bog it down. It was interesting to hear you talk about large lawns and striping and mulching. I constantly deal with a layer of brown grass clipping covering most of the lawn. Actually not "deal with" as much as shield my eyes from. Your method is much more random than mine which is more about striping, maybe that's my problem? About your trimmer: I've noticed several of you guys remove the shield so I did today from my Husqvarna, a trimmer I've had for a couple years and like a lot. I also have a Tanaka head so I precut my line and head out with 4-5 in my pocket. With the shield off I guess I can use longer lengths of line. What do you use?
Great video. Can't wait for the Great Dane videos. What trimmer do you use? I finally tried after years of debating it, running without the guard. I love it but it seems my FS90's are not fans of it. I don't believe they have the power for the extra length string.
Randy, you know the Great Danes. I am mowing with it and filming now and it is mowing better than ever. The replacement engine is stronger than the original, 23 hp to 27 hp. Videos coming soon. Busy mowing then sleeping. lol. Backed up in the editor. Glad you tried the weedeater without the guard. You get used to how much line you can let out without it bogging down. I use the Husqvarna 223L.
Something 2LookAt I found a couple on CL I've been looking at.... might be one in my near future. You know I love that machine. Glad to see you're out of your drought buddy.
Nice video! Just a couple of treatments of selective herbicide would really turn that lawn around. That stuff looks similar to crabgrass/johnson grass that we have here in Texas. Five minutes after mowing that stuff and you have antennas sticking up. Nasty!
Brent Meister hell even dallisgrass I think was a creation of the devil, luckily I have a couple of weed killers that work but one of them I can't use over 85 degrees so in texas I can hardly use it but the bayer one doesn't say a temp so I just use it
Looks great. Is the drought over in Florida? Think I have seen some rain in that area recently? I am in SC it rains here almost every afternoon in the summer.
Great video! Out of curiosity, what do you charge for properties like this? I have a fee new clients with 1-3 acre lawns. Do you charge by the acre? By the hour? Or just a flat job rate? I'm not sure how I should approach this. Thanks!
I try to get $75 per acre. So I ask how many acres they have. They often tell me less than they really have once they know they're paying by the acre. But I double check them online. :)
In most of these videos it's hard to tell, but in this one I can see a bit better. Looks like there's a lot of clippings left on the lawn. Am I right or is the video deceiving? I've been mulching my lawn for 27 years and I can't stand visible clumps of cut grass left lying on the lawn. Most vids I've seen with zero turns nobody mulches or bags. Does a second pass disperse the clippings sufficiently? With my mower all that does is move the clippings around. Just curious, not meant to be derogatory.
It's ok. And this is Florida so everything is different. But even visible clippings will disappear here by the next cut. As long as it's not too thick, i.e., 6 inches thick in clumps will still be clumps in 2 weeks. Thus all the extra passes to get it all to lie down nice. Composting happens very fast here.
Love your videos. I could watch them all day. Especially when it's raining
Thanks!
Out of all your videos...I like this one most....the country life is it....and the music is the bomb!!! Keep them coming, I look forward to your videos!

All those grass clippings gives my Case IH Puma 240 CXV a mighty chubby
Glad your back been a while

Yes. And I'm mowing and filming with it now. It mows awesome!

Long time no see! Missed seeing your mowing videos. Can't wait to see the "Dane".
I love cutting with new/sharp blades, so satisfying!
Bahiagrass. That seed stalk is like a wire.
cannot get enough of yah XD
Your videos are the best mowing videos. All the other guys do too much talking and not enough mowing footage.
Marcus Weaver You do realize that 1/3 of the video is him talking right?😂😂

YEA! (comment/like before even seeing the vid 👏🏻👏🏻)
lol, cool. Thanks!

9:09 should be a Scag promo! Very awesome
Amen to that. But Scag barely talks to me. :( Thank you though.
an "acre" is a "big one" lol. Just bought a JD 915E and knock out about 4 mowable acres on my property in hour and a half every time.
Thank. You. About. Time.
great job no grass in the highway
finally! You're back! :)
I would say that pasty grass was most likely ryegrass.
17th! good video and work
I have a toro zx6000 Titan and its coming to the time to where I need to change the blades what would you recommend?

@@Something2LookAt I wish i could be with you until i'm 18 and i'm bringing my first mower troy bilt and we can both mow
Do you ever collect the cut grass at any of your customers properties?
Nice video! Just a couple of treatments of selective herbicide would really turn that lawn around. That stuff looks similar to crabgrass/johnson grass that we have here in Texas. Five minutes after mowing that stuff and you have antennas sticking up. Nasty!

How much off of that yard? Just asking cause I was asked to do one as big as that and I just wanted an estimate on what I should charge!
For a lawn that big about how much you charge and how do you price your cuts and extras?
One thing that i think would look rilly good a specially on that yard would be if u faced the lines toward the road
Wow, you know, you're right! Hmm, I just mowed it yesterday. I'll take a look at that next time I'm there.
Looks great. Is the drought over in Florida? Think I have seen some rain in that area recently? I am in SC it rains here almost every afternoon in the summer.
Oh yea, the drought is definitely over. :)
How do u like the Great Dane I was looking at one?
Love the Great Dane! It is strong and agile.
Nice big property, and that grass is a mess
Great video! Out of curiosity, what do you charge for properties like this? I have a fee new clients with 1-3 acre lawns. Do you charge by the acre? By the hour? Or just a flat job rate? I'm not sure how I should approach this. Thanks!

How long does it take to mower a one acre yard
Have you ever thought of putting lines in the yard to make it look really professional? But it looks good though nice work!
Yea, I want to. It doesn't work really well here in Florida.
Was he going over the same area twice?
I notice you took the deflector flap off, you don't have an issue with the grass blowing up at you.
Maybe this type of grass needs more water to inflate the fibers in it.
They would be esaier to cut then ?
If it were wet then it makes even more of a pasty mess. Terrible grass type.
Folks in Tennessee call that stuff Dishwater Grass. Tends to grow where the soil stays damp.
Thanks : )
About what does a job like that cost? I have a very similar property.

Mowing starts at 5:23😂
parker hartsell what’s the 😂 for?
Finn Campeau idk
Where did u get the cheeta feom
Haven't made a video in while
Mowing starts at 5:23
how much do you charge for this lawn?
Michigan here. Anyone know how much those Florida screen rooms are?
How do you get money from a large yard
Wow, over 100,000 people watched a video of a guy cutting grass.
LOL! Yes. Look for my pressure washing videos. Even more boring and they get over a million! :)
so you just leave the cuttings without c ollecting them?
wish my gf would let me do that but it looks so bad
clippings decompose and add nutrients back into the soil. Follow the 1/3 rule and you shouldn't have any issues with thatch.
Where are you located? It looks like Florida
Yep. East Central Florida
that's a really big yard lots to mow. did u have to refuel or did it all get done with one tank.
This mower holds 15 gallons. I could mow about a dozen of these without refueling.
Something 2LookAt 15 gallons? I think a Honda civic has the same size tank. Maybe smaller lol
A Hippopotamus mailbox holder!
Looks more like a manatee. Hippos have legs.
It's handicapped.
I received an email, it was an IED. Thank you for your service manatee.
The mannate mailbox is cool but mine is a 🐬
New vid 👍
How do you like scab cheetah thinking about getting one ?
It's a tank. I've been running it hard for 6 years and nothing's ever broke!
Something 2LookAt nice might be investing in one soon thanks 👍
How many Hrs? Your cheetah looks super clean!
About 950
This would make me lose my mind having to double cut everything.
Considering how tall and thick it was,it could have been worse. I'm sure there is worse, but this was a good one!
are they 3 inch wide blades
They are wider than normal. I'm afraid I don't have the measurement.
.. A+..
Do you stripe?
What happened to the GoPro mounts
Ooops, I forgot to do that. Then I also gotta figure out a way to mount one to the Great Dane. Thanks for reminding me.
Something 2LookAt sweet thank you it's going to look really good on the Great Dane do you know when the next video is
