Nothing like coming home after a hard day of mowing over grown lawns and getting to watch something to look at mow over grown lawns lol Great video mike! I like your style! you make it look easy!
When using the mower (and I've done it many times with a Cheetah) to blow off driveways, roads, etc. I've found that putting the throttle all the way up, and not using the whole deck but only the chute while driving backwards, acts like a blower (not a vacuum) and works better than what you were doing. Not trying to tell you how to do your, but more like giving out advise. I haven't been mowing for as long as you have, but I've done this more times than I want to mention.
Looking forward to it!😀 Holy Maloney what the grass is growing in your area. Here in the middle of Sweden the grass needs to be cut one time in two weeks right now.
I know what time of year it is if I'm watching your videos. Very enjoyable.I got my riding mower stuck in a ditch the other day and I was trying to find videos that might help me with tips. I have a fairly steep slope I need to mow on. Not sure if you have steep slope vids. I do love your videos. Very relaxing. Love the Cheetah!
I have a couple where I was mowing at quite an angle, but it didn't tip. Basically I generally would go straight up and down a slope. But there are limits.
Yeah, it's tricky, because the slope is rather steep. I'd rather mow it by hand than get in a serious accident. I know it's more work but it's not worth it to me.
HAHA you took the before and after shot suggestion to the extreme! XD funny guy! i love it! It's been hot as hell lately! be sure to keep yourself hydrated!
That yard looks fun. Disbursing all those grass clippings looks like a bit of a challenge though. I finally bought a new mower. I didn't end up getting a Scag though. I was looking for a stander style mower, and I just didn't like the feel of the V-Ride. The way its set up, you kinda hang off the back of it, and it still kinda whips you around. It felt similar to the sulky. I ended up going with a Hustler Super S stander 36". The yards down here are generally a lot smaller, so I figured I would start with a 36" and get a 52" as I get larger yards. I will make a video on it tomorrow when I go pick it up.
Cool! You got a new mower! Curious to see that. I never really checked out the Hustler Stander. I know what you mean about the the V-/ride. I don't like that platform either. That's why I'm restoring the Super Surfer. The platform is between the rear wheels, and barely above the grass. Congrats! Anxious to see the vid!
Hi Mike, Another Great one.... I Think the Cheetah did Great..... You know it was Interesting to see the Tall Grass and cut grass just go right up under the Deck... I was Thinking it was so Tall that it would come up and over your Deck but Surprisingly enough it did not..... I'm assuming that is that Velocity Deck to blame it on Correct ? I have Seen Other Mowers Struggle Badly on Thickness like that but the SCAG did Great !!! Did you say you mowed it down to 4"inches ? The Weed Eater part was also great & Very Cool to see... Cleaned it right up..... Excellent Vlog !! Thumbs Up !! Friend :) Enjoyed That.....
I have that same grass and I mowe my yard every 3 days because it's so thick and I planted more bermuda last year so this year it should look even better
When mowing thick tall grass like this mow it up higher first then drop it a inch untill you get to where you want it will make the clipping alot smaller and when ur done it will look alot better also make straight lines and use the full width of your deck and cut one dirrection an turn around and come back you want to cut a nice even pattern ive been mowing for over 10 years never used a bagger and when im done it looks as good as any bagged yard
Good advice. I do that sometimes. Things are quite different in what you can do here in Florida though. If the ground is dry enough you can do that. But it's usually a bit soggy and that method would make ruts here. 28 years by the way doing this. I've learned to just do what I can.
Good afternoon, I'm from Argentina, your videos are very good, I made a query. What type or name of lawn is that of this house? From now many thanks and greetings.
Use a mulching kit. I'm in Florida also. With my toro in that yard. It would have mowed it down one pass. Then go over the clumps (if any) at full speed.
+Something 2LookAt yes. Not sure what region of Florida you are. Lawn care rookie loves his and has a vid on it. Stanley genedek runs them on his mowing crew. Bermuda is the only grass we have to consistently go over twice (second time to pick up clumps.) but those yards are few and far around the Clearwater region. Mostly Bahia / st Augustine. You don't have to be as cautious of which way you mow. No chance of shooting a rock out and injuring someone. Less debris to blow off. The biggest downfall is when mowing super tall thick grass. Like overgrown. It'll really bog the machine down since there is so much to digest. But that's not something I get into often. Or at all anymore.
Duane Sachon Ok, good point. And I would agree that on average height yards a big mower would be able to handle it nice. But you're not saying to run a mulch kit on the yard above are you? I'm in this stuff all the time. Sometimes big acreage. I really don't want those mulching baffles permanently on there. I might consider it on a mower that's never gonna see the thick stuff.
where is plain truth by gunner Olsen in the categories of adding commercial music to your videos? I'd love to use that track for a video, thanks mann you always do great work!
You know there's a search box there. Go to the Create tab and just type Plain Truth in the search box. Otherwise it's in the Dance & Electronic, Funky category. Hope this helps.
+Something 2LookAt sorry for the noob comment, I was used to only using the app on phone I didn't know you had way more song selections in the browser on a laptop/comp. One more question, I tried to add more songs like you did here and I couldnt, idk how to? It won't let me add another song its there but it takes over the original song and won't add as a second, any tips? thanks again
Your Favorite Lawn Care Lawn Care What are you just using UA-cam to do that? No, we download the songs and completely edit these videos in video editors before we even upload them.
Its kinda a pain, but in cases like on the side of a house in between two houses, instead of blowing on a house, I go at a angle then back up a little then do it again till I have most the clippings in the bigger yard then even it out. Especially when a little wetter clippings that stick like glue.
I've done the angle thing you're talking about. It works pretty good. It would have been a bit more of a challenge on this one. Ultimately the best answer is a mulching door and I'm going to make my own. If the grass had been wet or full of sticky weeds, I would have mowed the sides with my 33. It would have been slow but it would've done it.
I absolutely hate bagging grass- I dont even advertise that I do it. But, for the rare cases where a lawn is like this and we have to bag it or basically create a carpet of thatch I do bag but I charge 3x the rate of a normal mow. And, we dont haul off the grass either. Every year we get a call from someone near the end of May who hasn't cut the lawn yet.
I know what your saying. I'm looking forward to those first time May cuttings, lol. And yes, if I bagged something like this, it would be 3x the rate. But this customer doesn't have 3x the money. It wouldn't have happened. But I saw that it would make a good video so I did it and UA-cam pays me the difference. I would do it again. :)
Is that bermuda? whatever it is, it looks tough. we cant drive over our fescue more than twice or it will look terrible. sucks when its wet or overgrown, leaves few options to look nice.
This yard is bermuda, st augustine and bahia. I actually don't know what fescue is. I'll look it up. It might be in there too. This yard did tend to clump a lot. Is there fescue in Florida?
Thanks. Probably no fescue in Florida. Too much consistent heat. LawnCare Nut, when he lived up north, B&B Lawncare, pretty much in lawns north and midwest. cooler season grasses, deep green, thinner blades. cut heights range from 3" in spring to 4 1/4 in summer. any lower and it will force dormancy when combined with heat. we can grow bermuda and st Augustine here in Missouri, but its short season, starts growing in June, dormant in late September
I use to weed eat close and around the house, trees etc. first , and then mow so all of the grass got mowed, but everyone has they own way of cutting ..
Covering the same ground a lot to get a fine spread. The whole lawn would be yellow in a couple of days for up to a week with the cuttings if i done that here. cover the ground once and collect it leaving a near perfect finish. But if your custumers are happy and your happy all is good. I just wouldn't get away with that here on any residential work. I always strim first to either collect or spread further out.
This is Florida. What I meant when I said "Everything disappears" is that it composts very rapidly. The yellowing you're talking about does not happen. I get so many people saying that so I am going to include a "2 days after" follow up on my next cleanup. I understand what happens where you are, but Florida is an entire different universe. Which ironically is part of the problem. Customers know this. They know what these big mowers can do and they know we're just mulching into the yard and they know the whole thing will look like it was bagged when we're done. Thus, they have no problem stringing out the cuttings to save on money. And for me, eh, I'm having fun. No worries.
Jonxthxn No, never done that. I just use simple green and a brush. Ironically, I actually have a video up of me doing that. Here: ua-cam.com/video/pUR4bItRNUk/v-deo.html
lol, do you think it's a Florida thing? You guys are gonna give me a complex. :) Now I've got to figure out what I'm doing and why I'm doing it. ... ...and if we're all doing this in Florida. Ha.
My honest opinion is your using to big of a mower noticed some scalped parts of the yard. The biggest thing we use is a 55” in that’s for dried up retention ponds. Other than that we use 36” or 42” you should try the same. Remember bigger the mower= more weight more weight equals harsher on the yard.
I have all sizes. 61, 52, 48, 33. I prefer to use the big one. It's the strongest, fastest and I get to sit down. In 28 years doing this, my customers never said anything like what you're saying. And I don't get fired often. I don't think it's that bad and I don't think my customers would really even care. You are however correct. I'm just not gonna do it. :)
Hey are you still shooting with the Canon VIXIA? I was drawn to your channel by your first impressions video and stayed for the relaxing lawn care videos :) How's the VIXIA holding up?
I was thinking about when you said you've never used a UV filter on your cameras before. You could put one on just to keep all the flying lawn debris from dirtying your lens, might be easier to clean?
Daniel Pendzich Oh, I remember you now. Hey, I did try that UV filter for a bit. I didn't like what it was doing to the color of the grass. I was actually having to do the tint filter in the editor to make it look right. Otherwise you're right. Since the actual lens is recessed and hard to clean, the screw on filter lens would really help. I wonder if they make a completely flat and clear filter? One that does nothing?
Very nice work. Wheres your hearing and eye protection? If you hit a golf ball when cutting up against the house or a tree, that ball will ricochet and knock you out. At least protect your eyes.
Oh no, that Great Dane can't mow like this. The cleanups will still get the Cheetah. Ha, yes, it would be great to put a Scag sticker on there just to confuse everybody. I'm also trying to think of a way to leave the paw prints on the fenders. It will certainly be one of a kind.
James's Garbage Trucks And Other Vids No. But I also haven't looked at Hobby Lobby. They have like a million stickers there. There's gotta be some giant dog prints there.
It’s 2:29 am. I am tired. But I can’t sleep due to foot pain. Until the medication I have taken to alleviate the pain in my foot kicks in, I am watching this video. Ok update from 2:30 am, the pain seems to have died down. Still gonna watch the video though.
Ok, well, it does allow more string to come out if you want it, and it lets you get into spaces as wide as the head if you need to. And you do need to constantly. And no, it doesn't stress the machine. This 223L is about 3 years old under constant commercial use. I never installed the guard when I first assembled it. Original head gear, original engine, original shaft.
I know, it looks like all my yards are disasters. The truth is that most of my yards are weekly, well maintained beautiful yards. I'm only filming the disasters because they certainly have more of a "Something to look at" appeal. But I get that question a lot.
That's what I thought LOL. Either clog the deck up and keep the windows in one piece or open the chute and sweep up glass. Don't forget the air con units. Love to see dudes blow clippings into the condensor coils. Hey, not my air con unit LOL.
Get a ocdc chute blocker and you would be shocked how much it will help you, especially while mowing next to neighbor's grass. When you mow a yard you just kinda wing it with no real plan. Drives me insane! I must like being crazy because I keep watching your videos. Keep them coming.
44 mag I don't have a clue what you're talking about, "hatch"? Anyway I was just letting you know about ocdc because I wish I would have installed one years ago.
You know that is some THICK grass when a Scag leaves a roostertail! No worries - the second pass got it! Turned out beautiful! The Scag pulverized that grass. That lawn got fed! Would have been a shame to take all of that free organic nutrition away.
9:55 Good gawd!!! A prefab "designer" house with a vinyl-roofed LINCOLN TOWNCAR in the driveway. I don't think I've ever seen a more depressing neighborhood in my entire life. :-((
It's always satisfying to see a job well done.👍👏👏
Nothing like coming home after a hard day of mowing over grown lawns and getting to watch something to look at mow over grown lawns lol Great video mike! I like your style! you make it look easy!
LOL, happy to accommodate you you with a video to watch Mike.
You always do an awesome job. Your very good at what you do and don't be-little your work. Yard looks great! Thanks for sharing 😊
I remember this days when I run my lawn service business for 22 years , it's hard work !
great job on the lawn.
pretty bloody awesome I'd say.. great mower and a great job..

That high speed edging is very satisfying.
I enjoy your videos a lot. Mowing tall grass is so satisfying
ThiccBoi69 true
Man that Scag does a beautiful job. Nice videos man
Thanks for another great video! Your Scag is a fine piece of machine!😀
Glad you liked it. I still haven't posted the realtime version of this yard. But I will.
The grass and pink houses in Florida are no joke
Way better than what it looked great job!
Am I the only african American that loves watching people cut high grass with riding lawnmowers 🤔?
I love these videos!
Very good

Aha, so that was you who mentioned that. Yea, kinda neat ain't it.
Something 2LookAt yes it gives a much better gauge on how deep the grass actually was..love it!
The sign of a true professional is the willingness to adapt to improved methods and tools.
Well, maybe some day.

I think a shut blocker would do wonders on helping mulch those clippings up
That's some pretty, green grass :-)

Well the velocity deck does help greatly. And yes, the final height was 4" but the first pass was at 5". Glad you liked it!
Yes it Appears that it does Help Allot..... OK Good on the 4".... Yes I did Like It... Great Video, I will be watching it again tonight....LOL... :)
I have that same grass and I mowe my yard every 3 days because it's so thick and I planted more bermuda last year so this year it should look even better

That is a mixture of grasses. St. Augustine, Bahia, and Bermuda just to name a few of them.
@@Something2LookAt Thank you very much for the reply. Good date. Greetings.

the side chute cuts much better then mulching would at that length. Actually at any length for that matter.
A mulching kit, in summer?

Right back at ya man.
I like the before/after perspective

That scag is a beast!
You play the best music to go with your great videos!
Thanks! I really enjoyed putting music to these. I get a lot of criticism for doing it though, so I kinda stopped. Just mower sounds these days.
May I ask? Why do you trim AFTER you mow. I do it the other way around as to cut up the trimmings as I mow. I love your videos! Keep'em coming.
Do you use Gator blades? Cuts very nice👍👍👍
Yes. Thanks.
Looks better then before

Don't you know how hard it is on those mowers to run them at close to idle and mow thick stuff like this?
Just wondering why you go over the same spot 3-4 times?
Just trying to get it to lay down nicer.
Exactly. Waste of time etc. I would bag. Not sure why so many lawn care pros don't. It makes no sense to me
would you consider running a push mower for the part up against the house next time instead of the trimmer ..just to save time?
That would get it closer, but not neat as a trimmer gets it.
good video and excellent job also

LOL! Just now realizing that I did not!
Love you videos, really. Don't know what it is about cutting grass......
You run hot and cold don't ya. You say love my videos then criticized me pretty good there. Am I missing something?
hello how much do you charge for a yard like that, i am new on this business i new to get an idea thank you!
I use to weed eat close and around the house, trees etc. first , and then mow so all of the grass got mowed, but everyone has they own way of cutting ..
The neighbor's lawn looks in need of all those clippings.
What's a good edger to use? A weed eater or an edger
a rear discharge chute would be nice to open on the first cut
I agree
Nice job, a lot of grass to get rid of without bagging or leaving it looking a mess that would have took me like 3-4 hours at least
That was the goal, leave with nothing. Thanks

Water hose.

I blow it off after almost every yard. And it rains a lot here. I guess. It could be cleaner. It's about time to actually wash it again.

Jonxthxn No, never done that. I just use simple green and a brush. Ironically, I actually have a video up of me doing that. Here: ua-cam.com/video/pUR4bItRNUk/v-deo.html
Great job
@ 16:56, what the heck is a trucknap?? never heard that term. lol yea, i take it, its a storm or rain.

Hey are you still shooting with the Canon VIXIA? I was drawn to your channel by your first impressions video and stayed for the relaxing lawn care videos :) How's the VIXIA holding up?
Oh yes, this one was shot with the VIXIA R700. Great little camera!
Cool! The video looks great! I love what you're doing with it.
Daniel Pendzich What's really amazing about that camera is how hot it will let you get it. Shooting in full sun with no clouds, no problem.
I was thinking about when you said you've never used a UV filter on your cameras before. You could put one on just to keep all the flying lawn debris from dirtying your lens, might be easier to clean?

you can see a lizard run up the wall at 4:50 hes like oh shoot
I am just wondering how much is this ride on mower lol
It was right at $11K
You can get a new Corolla for that LOL WOW!!!
jim davidson
Does it come with blades?
Very nice work. Wheres your hearing and eye protection? If you hit a golf ball when cutting up against the house or a tree, that ball will ricochet and knock you out. At least protect your eyes.

lol. We had a long truck nap today in Florida.
I've never seen anyone hold a weed eater like you do? Is there a particular reason? Or just preference? Awesome vid btw!!
lol, I love this. Everyone says that. I have no idea, I just do it this way. I'm going to have to do a study on this. :)
lookin good bro!!
No flowering weeds? I get them right away if I let it grow a little.
can you do a video on your 2017 equipment?
Yea I have an idea for a 2017 setup video. I want to finish the Great Dane first so it will look good in it.
Looks like your deck's a little low on the lt side?
Wow, you can see that on a video? Well, I'll check it.
Something 2LookAt
So, did you check it?
Looking at the cut it left.
Something 2LookAt did you check it?
man, that scag is a beastly monster. love your videos. so calm, relaxing, and satisfying to watch. what blades are you using?
Thanks! In this video they are Mamba mulching blades.
before we now it we will see the restored scag mowing the long grass also will u be getting scag stickers for the restore ?
Oh no, that Great Dane can't mow like this. The cleanups will still get the Cheetah. Ha, yes, it would be great to put a Scag sticker on there just to confuse everybody. I'm also trying to think of a way to leave the paw prints on the fenders. It will certainly be one of a kind.
Something 2LookAt you could buy new paw prints and scag stickers :}
James's Garbage Trucks And Other Vids I've been looking for them, I can't find them. Looks like I'll have to leave them on and tape mask around them.
Something 2LookAt have you tired asking a sticker company if they can reproduce them?
James's Garbage Trucks And Other Vids No. But I also haven't looked at Hobby Lobby. They have like a million stickers there. There's gotta be some giant dog prints there.
Looks like Toby flenderson from the office!
lol, wow, yes!
5:00 I hate weedeating around them lights!!!
It’s 2:29 am. I am tired. But I can’t sleep due to foot pain. Until the medication I have taken to alleviate the pain in my foot kicks in, I am watching this video. Ok update from 2:30 am, the pain seems to have died down. Still gonna watch the video though.
Are u a fan of hustler mowers??? Great video.
Yes! The Hustlers are great!
I use Hustlers all day cutting parks. They're a beast.
What brand weed eater do you use?
I use Husqvarna exclusively.
Mow high first, then lower deck?
Yes, 5" then 4"
I would've pulled those lights out of the ground before starting to mow and I also would've used a lawn mower with a bagger
Well, that would have been emptying the bagger every 10 ft.
Just think of how good it would look though
+Something 2LookAt Either way I do enjoy watching you're videos. You do a great job.
He can’t just take them out with out asking the owner
Youd need to get paid extra to bag. That's a lot of grass to haul away.
Why do lawncare service guys never have a guard on their string trimmers?
can see better when edging
Ok, well, it does allow more string to come out if you want it, and it lets you get into spaces as wide as the head if you need to. And you do need to constantly. And no, it doesn't stress the machine. This 223L is about 3 years old under constant commercial use. I never installed the guard when I first assembled it. Original head gear, original engine, original shaft.
awesome camera work
If you’re gonna do yards Florida is the place to be! Year around work! It’s so damn hot though! I lived in Florida for 25 years! I don’t miss it!
I would have loved to see that edging. Just so satisfying to me
Sorry about that. I'm trying to include more lately.
Was that house occupied? I can't understand why people let their yard get to look so bad.
lol, yes, there's people in there. He had lost his job for a while.
Thanks for the clarification. It's sad when neighbors, friends or family don't step in and help someone in their time of need.
Do you have ANY weekly yards ?
I know, it looks like all my yards are disasters. The truth is that most of my yards are weekly, well maintained beautiful yards. I'm only filming the disasters because they certainly have more of a "Something to look at" appeal. But I get that question a lot.
Use an Edge-it Pro for the edging.
Yea you know, I gotta try one of those...
How many windows do you blow out per day?
Anyway I was just letting you know about ocdc because I wish I would have installed one years ago.
you have a radar so you don't hit lights under the grass?? haha that's crazy
He hit one, at 4:30 😬
Naw, it just blew the top off it.
Great job......
You know that is some THICK grass when a Scag leaves a roostertail!
No worries - the second pass got it! Turned out beautiful!
The Scag pulverized that grass. That lawn got fed! Would have been a shame to take all of that free organic nutrition away.
Exactly. And the composting process happens quick here in Florida.
Doesn't Scag have a baler kit? I think you need a hay baler kit. 😜
LOL!
He could be out harvesting the wheat fields with the Cheetah..
lol
8ftbed no you don't its a lawnmower not a farm tractor
That Skagg has pretty darn decent performance on tall thick grass.
9:55 Good gawd!!! A prefab "designer" house with a vinyl-roofed LINCOLN TOWNCAR in the driveway. I don't think I've ever seen a more depressing neighborhood in my entire life. :-((
how much you charge for that job?
Why not use a chute blocker ?
I haven't found one that I like. My plans are to make my own.
Nice job, but the grass looks too short imo. I would’ve kept the grass at 3 inches at the minimum.
Hard to tell from the video, but I'm cutting at 4 inches here. Optical illusion going from 18 inches to 4 inches, lol.
Something 2LookAt gotcha.
