it's crazy that even in written books the words were changed. honestly the way everyone collectively forgot about her was mindblowing, as well as a bit unnerving
written books, character voice lines and info in their in-game profiles, world quests dialogue, ALL OF THEM retroactively change. since this is a possibility now, and irminsul is fundamental to the existence of teyvat, anything can be real or fake from here on out.
literally, I checked as many of the in game dialogs or books that I remember had mentioned Rukka, and it was all gone, its impressive how much attention to detail Hyv has, it is unsettling and sad though, it had to be done but I felt like she deserved so much more...
It might be best to think of Teyvat as a virtual reality world (like Elysian Realm), memories = data. As the corruption of the abyss is now confirmed to be information (data). It is how even the 'physically stored information was changed'
The fact that back then Zhongli knew the traveler would carry the burden of knowing unknown/forgotten records of Teyvat (adding the fact that it is known that they’re a descender) makes me so intrigued how the other 3 regions would play out; We’re basically unintentionally changing history
Honestly, we already are a major part of history in all four regions that we've been to. We'll probably be a major part to tevyat's entire history itself at the end
Yes, I remember Zhongli talking about it in Guyun Stone Forest. I couldn’t understand stand it back then, but now it makes sense. “History records, but history may be changed. This incident proved that. Time is a mighty force, and histories twist in its flow... I need to find a better way of recording history in order to engrave its truth. Stone carvings were one such ancient method. But unchanging stone, immovable earth, even one such as myself... Someday, we may all disappear. Therefore, I thought of you, Traveler. You are one who crosses the celestial atlas, and who passes through countless worlds. If our history is engraved in your memory, it will one day accompany you into another world. As long as a Traveler like you is able to record what happened, then a backup of sorts will exist for times and tides of Teyvat.”
i dont understand the difference between rukkadevata and nahida. Arent they supposed to be the same person? I swear they was the same person in the previous archon quest and then in this one they somehow became two separate people. In the previous archon quest didn't we learn that Greater lord rukkadevata used up too much of her power and was reduced to a small form and lost her memories (and the smaller form is supposed to be the nahida that we know). So how is there two smaller forms or nahida
We learn that Rukkhadevata shrank after using too much power to take away the forbidden knowledge, but this happened TWICE. The first time is during the incident which causes King Deshret's death (we don't know when in time this happened iirc, but its before the cataclysm of 500 years before the game). Then, she used the experience she gained in this occasion to fight the forbidden knowledge when it returns during the cataclysm, but the damage done was way too big, because it affected the irminsul, and Rukkha, being connected to the irminsul, was then polluted as well. So, she devised a plan: she created Nahida out of the youngest branch of the irminsul (Rukkha herself was born this way as well but thousands of years before this) to make her the Dendro Archon in the "new samsara" as she said in the Archon Quest. Idk which samsara she refers to but its a bigger one than the Sabzerus festival one. And so Nahida would errase her from the world to finally stop the forbidden knowledge. Anyways, Nahida is a completely different entity because it wasnt Rukkha becoming smaller, like during the first forbidden knowledge incident, it was actually a whole new person (god?) being born, just in the same way. They are the same cause they have the same origins, but are actually different individuals. Rukkha died but created Nahida to errase her completely from the irminsul to stop the forbidden knowledge pollution. I hope this helps u understand, I'm not sure if everything I say is exactly correct cuz I finished the quest yesterday at 4 am and I was very sleepy
@@سمية-غ4ب Basically Nahida's choices or actions change the timeline like crazily, First when you go to the Archon statues you dont hear the: "world... forget me." And then the people dont have the ear things, And then people forget about Rukkadevata.
@@سمية-غ4ب yes, rukka became a child after the king deshret incident. But the corruption to irminsul during cataclysm was a greater threat, it would reduce her to nothing. So she plucked the purest branch and created Buer to be the next dendro archon. Rukka and the Irminsul are connected, so even though she died, her consciousnesses remained. Take Buer as her "offspring", a branch from the the same tree. But they are "the same" in the same sense as Avatar Aang is to every other Avatar.
Just one little point: Buer was always Nahida's name as Archon. Rukkadevatah also calls her "Buer". Her name replaced that of the old archon, that's all.
Basically not mother relationship or sister or etc, is just multiverse of her, at the end of all is just her self in different timeline with different memory, all is same person
This is such an impactful and tragic story It's not like she was just forgotten by time...but by the world itself Her existence has been completely erased And Nahida will probably always have this feeling in heart that somethings missing...but will never be able to know what it is that makes her heart ache so much...
imagine being sad for someone's death and you and everyone else forgor them entirely. you still feel sad but don't kjow why... it's sound really scary... and being forgotten by the entire world either as a form of sacrafice or because of the erosion of time is... also scary...
@@Elmithian she did say in her quest (spoilers) that she feels something weird that shes forgetting or something along the lines of that but she doesn’t need to know it which is why we decide not to tell her about it She also did say something like “We just saved the world, didnt we? So why am i crying?” So she definitely still feels it, she just doesnt understand why
I don’t understand why you so surprised: it awaits all common people - when you die, after some time, the world will completely and forever forget about your existence.
1. This is a very interesting turn but it FRUSTRATES ME that the traveler can’t talk to anyone about it. 2. Also, if erasing an entity’s entire existence is a possibility, what if there are many other cases that this has happened before the traveler arrived/awakens and some of Teyvat’s timeline is messed up and we don’t even know? Edit: My bad guys. I know that the traveler can’t say anything about Rukkha, unless they go back to their homeland or whatnot. But I just feel really bad for them. The fact that there’s this pent up feelings inside that they can’t really talk much about and they has to deal with some many people’s problems just really sucks.
You know about the forbidden knowledge that makes people in Sumeru suffer. If traveler talks about Rukkhadevata to anyone, the story of Greater Lord Rukkhadevata could just be another forbidden knowledge
I hope the game adds some one to whom we can always talk to or someone who know everything about your memories and the people you know. Or maybe some sort of special thing or book
In this case, it's the memories about Rukkhadevata that were erased, it didn't change what actually happened in history, people just think that it's Kusanali who did all the things Rukkhadevata did now.
Now greater lord rukkhadevata became the mystery only the traveller know the truth, consider this as a secret that the traveller from another world knows. Just as zhongli says, the traveller could be a backup for everything that have and would happen in teyvat. So if traveller start to talk about the greater lord, it would create confusion and also became something that could harm the timeline of teyvat.
It is very impressive that they basiclly had to write EVERYTHING twice in the game. The books, descriptions, dialog, everything. They sure do not shy away from putting in some serious work.
@@marclenraymagdaraog691 What they mean is still, even then, they'd have to be written twice during development. We're just not seeing them implemented during gameplay.
@@marclenraymagdaraog691 I did not mean they did it as it happened in game, but it still means they had to do the plot basiclly twice, especially for the parts that may or may not be completed before the big change.
I just feel sorry for Rukkhadevata and King Deshret One sacrificed himself but was labelled as Tyrant The other sacrificed herself but was forgotten completely
To unperson yourself as a final sacrifice - Sumeru was lucky to have Rukkhadevata. To the abyss and beyond - may you rest in peace in our memories Rukkhadevata.
There's also one more detail that changed and you forgot/didn't notice: Ever since the realease of the game when you approached a Statue of The Seven you could faintly hear a whisper saying "Shi jie,Yi Wang Wo" ("world forget me"),but after you finish the archon quest that sound is completely erased from the game.
I just finished the archon quest today and I've never been so disheartened and emotional. The fact that Rukkhadevata dedicated her life to protect the entire Sumeru and the world, and that she made the ultimate sacrifice that now she'd just be forgotten by the world and the fact that we the Traveler is the only one who remembers about her 😢 I'm still in a shock rn. But yes the Sumeru archon quest is my favorite now hands down
Well, that IS the ultimate price and the utmost selfless act. Self-oblivion. To hold great knowledge you must also be willing to come to terms to inevitable facts, and one of the beauties of knowledge is that it's ever so changing, ever so evolving, ever so lose, so many knowledge of the world left only to the whispers of the wind. Like a ballad that stops, knowledge ceases to exist at some point. It is beautiful, and sorrowful, yet you have to be wise to know what you have to do, even it'll only be null.
This is actually really sad, and the fact that Rukkadhevata herself wanted Kusanali to do this..her smile in the cutscene as she faded away was so saddening I swear- the Sumeru archon quest has to be the saddest archon quest that I’ve ever witnessed 😭
This is actually my greatest fear and one of the saddest types of ending to me. Death by oblivion, when the world doesn't even know you were there and the things you did.
Is anyone here like me? I stopped getting scared of jumpscares in games, or creepy visuals. But this form of "true death" where no one remembers you, every part of your existence being forgotten, brought a bone-chilling creep to me. I actually got goosebumps. And things like these are so so scary.
same goes for the opposite. alzheimers is such a terrifying concept to me. you literally lose everything, your relationships, it could even go as far as forgetting how to do the most basic of tasks like brushing your teeth.
Well, if it makes you feel any better even though no one remembers her, her sacrifices still exist, someone else just gets credit for them. They are just remembered differently. She was forgotten, not erased. It's kind of romantic that even if no one in the world remembers you, your actions still shape this world and their effects will linger long after you are gone.
Its used a few times in modern Chinese fiction, where villains use their mystical powers to remove the karma of a certain person and erase a person completely out of existence and memory. Usually those kind of enemies are the scariest for the protagonist of the stories to fight. But after seeing it a few times you get used to it.
@@mars9986 This. Credit doesn't matter. If someone else's name is on a statute does it change anything? It was still you who did it. If someone else has any intention of carrying on your work it doesn't matter who started it, it only matters that it continues. And Nahida/Buer? is trying her best. So it's kind of like a child not remembering one of their parents but still growing up to become a good person. Their genetics are set, and they did learn something from their parent even if they can't remember, or even if everyone says it was another person who taught them. The outcome of who you are doesn't depend on _who_ taught you, but _what_ you were taught.
Its nice that mihoyo adds these world changing details to the game and the amount of effort they put in changing these from dialogues to in game items is amazing
Its a bit change lore wise and the amount of effort to clean her name from every part of the game (even character stories) after her quest is Just impresive and shows the balls of hoyo
Now some things that concern me even after the Sumeru Quest: 1. What the hell does Collei's dream about Dottore burning the Irminsul signify? 2. There were theories that Dain (bough keeper => (main branch of a tree) keeper) has direct access to Irminsul since he also knows things without being present there 3. How on earth did King Deshret bring Forbidden Knowledge to Teyvat? 4. I wonder how knowing things like The False Sky and truth of the world is toxic enough to cause Eleazar, agony and make Irminsul sick? 5. What was with the Unknown God's Cubes floating around Irminsul? (a lot of people missed that) 6. Nahida mentioned that the Heavenly Principles became inactive after the Cataclysm, wonder what that's about 7. Dottore was completely fine even though he knows the truth and the Forbidden Knowledge, so why would the Sumeru people have various sicknesses after learning about it 8. In Nahida's story quest, we saw a small glimpse of our sibling when we went into the dream world. The MC thought that was just an illusion but that shooting star Nahida sees when are leaving the dream world could be our sibling. If you know about the leaks, there's a "special quest" happening next update, maybe that will be leading to it.
i'm still thinking about the burning of irminsul. so much happened in the quest that i almost forgot that appeared in the trailer. what the hell!!! i wonder if we're getting another quest in 3.3 about that? or maybe in 3.6 since that's when dain is predicted to return????
Either that was just foreshadowing of how wicked someone like him can be (burning the actual save file of the world “for funsies😁”) and not something hes gonna actually get to do, or it has future implications.
Me too I've been long waiting after seeing those trailers... I hoped this archon quest will all the answers but it turns out we are still left with so many more additional unsolved mysteries and unanswered questions instead.... I wonder when all these will be answered... *sighs*
i don't think the false sky is the same as forbidden knowledge. as rukkhadevata said, forbidden knowledge came from the abyss and even she couldn't understand it. the false sky is probably a secret being kept by celestia.
Damn, I didn't realize the extent of which the Rukkhadevata erase was implemented in Genshin. The fact that even the books and voice lines blur out her existence is an amazing implementation and sheer dedication to narrative by the devs, bravo to them.
I don’t think Rukkhadevata was erased from the timeline. It is as /if/ she never existed, as all memories and records are rewritten as if there was only ever Buer. But Irminsul is the /memories/ of the world, and Rukkhadevata’s actions still had an effect on the current timeline. It’s like that scene where Azar can’t see Nahida even though she’s in front of him.
You're absolutely right. Everyone's perception has changed (except for the Traveler), but actual physical reality hasn't changed. But one could make the argument that perception and reality can't be separated like that, and that something isn't "true" or "real" unless it's observed! Rhukkhadevata is Schrödinger's cat!
Yeah, Rukkhadevata still existed, the aranara are still here, the forest is still here. But everyone through history had their memories rewritten because irmunsul, which holds all the memory in the world, was altered. Kinda scary to think what else has been erased.... like... maybe Aether? I mean, again, Rukkhadevata still physically EXISTED. But no one, not even the world remembers she did. If a being was erased from irmunsul but was still alive, what would happen then? They would be forgotten, and considered a stranger, an outlander. dare I say, even a descender. But when that being was erased from irmunsul, they WERE in irmunsul and would have their own memories rewritten for the last time before being severed from irmunsul forever. If that makes sense. But that's just a theory, a GAME theory.
Greater lord ████████████ still exists and still part of teyvat's history. The only difference is no one remembers her and what she did in the past now, not even nahida or the aranaras.
The people of Teyvat have forgotten about Greater Lord Rukkhadevata and sees Nahida as the original Dendro Archon, that makes her as one of the original Archons among the Seven like Venti and Zhongli. The once who remembered her is the Traveler and probably the other Descenders since their not from Teyvat. Sumeru Lore was a crazy rollercoaster ride, I can't even think what we're gonna do in the next region, Sumeru has one of the best stories in the game
Nahida has always been the original archon. Dendro archon is kinda like the avatar, when they die, their spirit is reborn in a new body but its still the same avatar.
@@dhaniya7646 didn’t zhongli know that ei wasn’t the original? I’m pretty sure he said somewhere that ei was not the original archon of inazuma and that only he and venti remained of the original seven
In the end of the archon quest, Nahida said that the number 1,2, and 3 of Fatui Harbinger members has the same power of archon. Imagine how powerful Tsaritsa is when her subordinates are par with archon.
She doesn't have to be stronger than them, also the power of archons vary a lot. Venti and Nahida are no match for Zhongli and Ei after all, even Signora beat Venti.
She doesn't say that the top 3 harbingers have same powers as Archons. She merely said that they have the power to rival gods. We tend to forget that Gods are different from Archons. Example of Gods vs Archons Havria vs Zhongli Marchosious (Guoba) vs Zhongli Orabashi vs Raiden Thunderbird vs Raiden Andrius vs Venti But since Nahida is weak in combat (2nd weakest I think), she can"t afford to fight Dottore, thus, she had agreed to bargained with him instead.
@@tripple-a6031 that venti was weak from neglecting his position for hundrets of years making him nearly powerless. prime barbatos would have erased signora befor she could have done anything. and baal is the weaker twin of the replacement for the original electro archon and also not even close to prime barbatos. the original archons were on a completely different level from the rest and while venti was the weakest among them he was still above ei befor he left his position.
I have to say this, Sumeru's archon quests really got me going. The fact that it lasted FIVE acts is bizarre due to "standard" three-act quests that happened with the previous regions, it might've been the speculation that MHY's Genshin team really want it really to stick with the playerbase after what happened with Inazuma's third act and how that was received. Plus, this is considered to be the midpoint from Mondstadt, Liyue, and Inazuma to Fontaine, Natlan, and Snezhnaya. I'm sad to see Rukkhadevata be erased from Teyvat since we literally got to meet her by the end but glad to see Nahida get the attention she deserves, even if it costs a price to pay.
I like to think that we're getting twice the number of acts bc we met twice the number of archons in this region. I am also anticipating the next act to be the last Sumeru one (aka Truth Amongst the Pages of Purana)...
Sumeru's archon quests is stupid: it is said that Irminsul connected to all of Teyvat. It is said that due to its contamination, Withering Zones appear and there is a disease "Eleazar". But! Why ONLY in Sumeru??? Where did Terminsol's connection with the whole world disappear?
That means there's also a possibility that the other abyssal twin might have erased his existence as a descender from irmunsul, although for reasons unknown, while their playable twin wasn't awake.
@@redactedname8228 maybe he/she was the reason why khanreah was destroyed and to hide his/her fault and to atone for his/her crime in their own way, they did so i think.
@@redactedname8228 Maybe the forbidden knowledge is toxic by the laws of Teyvat but once removed from Irmunsul, one is no longer bound by the laws. Thus they can assimilate the forbidden knowledge without suffering from the same problems as the others. After all, the playable twin ends up connecting to Irmunsul right away when Hapaysia and everyone else who tries goes to the loony bin.
@@redactedname8228 I've wondered about it. Maybe they did it to trick the Abyss Order into taking them in as their Princess? It's clear now that the sibling has a higher power to answer to in the Abyss Order We also know the Order came to be AFTER the Calamity and is not fully aligned with the Abyss' true nature. Is it the former King of Khaenri'ah still? As far as we can tell he became a puppet to the Sages based on Peirrot's attempts to persuade the king away from the sages plans. Enjou seems actually loyal to the sibling as he is friendly with them and treats the playable sibling with respect too. So what I am thinking is that the abyss twin is making a sacrifice to help Teyvat against Destiny, by siding with the Abyss Order for its resources and reach in the world, Dainsleif wants us to stop her before she goes in too deep, to do that we have to prove to him that we are worthy of that task by defeating him in battle, this likely will be when we get Dain as a playable character, he will likely be a weekly domain boss that is added as a playable unit in the next version.
There's a theory that it's Dainsleif who's erased our twin existence (or obfuscated their fate) from the Irminsul, due to him being called the Bough Keeper. Recalling back from the Travail trailer, Dainsleif says at the near end, that we must defeat him in order to rescue our sibling....so it is possible. It is also possible that, there may be a Deja Vu like scenario when we reach the near-conclusion, we too will have to make a decision.
If this is how far mHY will do with their game and story, I'm all for it. The attention to details when a story calls for a drastic change in many aspect to the game's lore is just crazy.
IKR. The way that when they add in just one tiny more detail (like the irminsul remembering the abyss twin but not the traveler even though they are both descenders) it changes everything we've ever known for sure about the game
So Sumeru story emphasize that Teyvat's "destiny" could be an artificial loop due to destiny can be changed. I think this also might implies that there is another "real" world dimension above this "artificial Teyvat", considering Irminsul is some kind of memory card/storage for the current Teyvat world (surface land.planet). This story could be a foundation of story for the real or another story in the future..
Since Genshin is part of Honkaiverse, alongside their sister games Honkai Impact 3 and Star Rail, the implications are already foreshadowed. The traveller's abilities to take in elemental power, with abilities being the weaker versions of the Archons, is akin to the Divine Key, Key of Blankness. Being the only ones that carry the forgotton memories parallels Project Save, operated by Fu Hua, the primary objective is to preserve the Previous Era memory/knowledge.
Perhaps the sibling is trying to escape before we even meet Paimon as one theory we live under a simulation while the real current state of Teyvat is basicaly destroyed beyond hope.
That might be the truth of this world Albedo was looking for or the forbidden knowledge Nahida mentioned about no one can bear to understand. I think it's the same just different terms. Also I'm curious about the knowledge Dottore exchanged to Nahida, about the sky is a lie.
destiny can be changed probably because the sky is a hoax . its like how people back then and now uses astrology to predict ones fortune and stuff. since the sky is a hoax, doesnt that mean whoever thats controlling the sky could alter ones fate?
I love that although everyone forgot, even Nahida, it's the fact that the traveler still remembers that gets me. It's just like zhongli said to the traveler in his story quest with the God of salt. The traveler is the best way to record history in teyvat, cause thsy are from another world.
I have a theory: what if the traveler's sibling journeyed through the entirety of teyvat 500 years ago, hailed as a hero, but no one remembered her achievement or existence because it was removed by irminsul during the cataclysm
I was thinking about that too, the traveler (lumine for me) isn’t from this world so I definitely trust her memory more considering she still remembers rukkahdevata, she definitely knows that aether is her brother and that they’ve journeyed together for thousands of years and are not actually from teyvat. But considering irminsul has the power to just completely change everything in teyvat, it’s possible if something happened during our abyss twins travels that caused irminsul to contain records on him and make everyone in teyvat subconsciously aware that he “is not a descender and is actually from teyvat” when in actuality he’s not. It makes me wonder if our abyss twin also remembers rukka and that they’re not actually from this world (but then aether talks about reviving the “homeland” and with everything he’s said regarding his role as abyss prince it makes me think he might’ve also been somehow affected and brainwashed by irminsul to believe he’s from this world when he’s not - and if that is the case then *does* he remember rukka?🤔)
I doubt it, only because the aranara remember the "golden nara" that is clearly the abyss sibling but they forget rukka EDIT: After a bit of thought, crack theory. What is the Traveler is the one who was deleted from irmunsul instead of the sibling. It makes absolutely no sense that one twin would be of this world while the other was not. The traveler was alseep for years and we have next to no information on what they did before they went into their deep sleep. There's a general theory that Teyvat is the twins original homeworld and that they are simply returning to it after ages. Could something have happened to traveler during the cataclysm. Or if you want to get really out there, what if one was deleted from the system from the first time they left Teyvat originally? Sorry, 1 am crack theories.
Wait this is an interesting theory! What if, maybe the sibling did something so terrible to the people/archons that they removed their label as a hero in irminsul?
All I can do is imagine how sad it is to be the forgotten like Rukkadevata on Genshin 3.2 It just depressing thought that comes to my mind when I hear something like this But, eventhough forest forgot to remember her, we as a player still remember that there once a dendro archon, Rukkadevata that died and got removed by root access, directly from Irminsul tree itself
Now you know how zhiqiong feels from the chasm. But even this is extreme. Everything they had ever done was rewritten to fit the fact Kusanali is the only Dendro Archon.
Greater lord ████████████ still did a lot of stuff for her people and sumeru in the past for thousands of years. I must say we as a player will always remember that.
@@arnowisp6244 yep. Being erased directly on the roots of the world and basically never existed in it is really crazy man Zhiqiong still have something like those map that we received and her record will forever be on the irminsul The only ways you can make Rukkadevata not dissappear is by not doing those archon quest but you can't do that because the story won't go anywhere. Even the next limited time event need you to finish those 3.2 archon quest and that's basically the way mihoyo said to us that Rukkadevata need to be dissappear no matter what
It’s a bit scary how everyone’s memories were just edited without any of them noticing; even Raiden Ei, who created her Shogun to prevent erosion like this. This now implies that Zhongli’s long lifespan and his recollections of past events may not be accurate anymore. It goes without saying now that our traveler may very well have had their whole “escape from Teyvat” story edited at some point too: our twin is a puppet/ homunculus like Shogun/Albedo, and our adventures together across different worlds is all BS; it was only ever one of them.
Cat the reason Nahida is still called "Lesser" Lord is because of a translation mistake on behalf of the EN translation team. Her title is actually Little lord kusanali in Chinese not "lesser" lord kusanali.

@@azyo7101 they didnt say otherwise? Theyre just saying they carry a heavier meaning now that we have an example of someone being completely obliterated from history
True, I also thought about that. There is much more, in Zhongli's story he said openly that Traveller is a unique being, a "witness", that can preserve true history of Teyvat. He explained it to Xiao and Xiao later also called us "witness". Zhongli somehow is aware of changes in memories of the world.
I think that everyone wonders what a good story can do for a game and I'm happy to be able to point out Genshin Impact as an example. This is why RPG is my favourite genre, it is all about storytelling and living the adventure.
Things like this are much sadder than the death of a character, because when a character dies the other characters are able to mourn but Greater Lord Rukkhadevata has been completely forgotten by everyone and everything never to be mourned
I hope HoyoVerse make something like an item to keep the Traveler remember about Rukkhadevata (like mask from Inazuma). Its so sad to be forgotten, even in real life.
I think someone else also mentioned how the statues of the seven no longer make the weird noise when you approach them. Apparently those used to be Rukkhadevata's forget me line but it disappears after the archon quest
yeah before if you stand by the statue for a bit prior to completing the archon quest, there will be a faint "World...Forget me" dialogue can be heard.
I honestly don't want to accept that it is now all Nahida. I'm so sad to see Rukkhadevata go, and I feel that she was so fundamentally important to literally *everything,* and it feels so weird to just try to accept she's gone and reduced to the name of a tree. :( Goodbye Rukkhadevata, the world forgot you, but we will never.
I find it crazy and awesome to have put such a drastic change in the world. I'm not sure Nahida knew what would happen with the memories about Rukkhadevata but the fact that she was crying before and after doing it implies that she may have guessed. I can't say if Nahida's story or Ei's is the saddest, but as much as I was touched by both of them, Nahida prove herself to be far more resilient than Ei.
Obviously Nahida knew that. She were the one who delete the memories and it was very clearly stated by Rukhadevata. That's what deleting memories from Irminsul means, Irminsul holds every single memory of anyone who lived and lives in Teyvat world, except for those who originated outside of Teyvat.
Of Course Nahida is more resilient, Nahida can cook 😂 Jokes aside, the growth that Nahida had to go through as an Archon (a child Archon at that) was and is drastic as hell. Born as a “mistake”, trapped and forced to watch her people suffer, and working tooth and nail to fix it. She’s like the most interesting parts of all the archons we’ve seen so far. The Isolation from Ei, the protection from Morax, and the “trust” (if you can even call it that 🤷♂️) from Barbatos.
I don’t think it’s a matter of who is more resilient, as opposed to how they handled it. Keep in mind that Ei had seen MUCH more tragedy than Nahida; that, combined with her personal views, are what led her to doing what she did. Both are very resilient and strong-it’s not something that can be compared, not easily at least.
@@yourneighborhoodfbi7518 I don't say Nahida is more resilient the Ei to put on a competition between the two. Of course Ei has lived so much more tragedy in the past, but she lived it and then decided to shut herself in her own plane and to let her puppet lock her country from the rest of the world and take her people their visions, to the point it started a civil war. Nahida was locked since she was born (or for almost as much she can remember in the new version of history) and was discarded from her role of archon by her own people, well part of her own people that dictates the rest of it what to think, litterally with the Akasha. And she was outraged when she was freed, in her good right, but in the end she didn't put the ones who betrayed her in jail or to death, she just put them where they would learn humility. She bears no hatred and that makes her a truly fantastic character.
yeah, im sure she guessed that, especially how in her story quest she mentions that knowing there was a "warmth" there in the past, without knowing what that warmth was, is enough. but i wouldnt say nahida is any more resilient than ei, since ei has the burden of remembering the loss of her sister, while nahida, though she feels the absence, she now has no memory of rukkhadevata's presence. it's a lot easier to just move forward when you have no memory of ever having something to look back to.. just think, ei had to live for 500 years, and has to continue leading her people with the memory of her sister and singlehandedly uphold their now shared perception of eternity. meanwhile, nahida now believes that she was, is, and will always be the one that all of sumeru (and by extension through irminsul, the whole world) relies on. where ei has to live up to makoto's legacy, nahida is only living up to her "own" legacy; where ei may continue to have doubts and look back on makoto's memory for guidance and consolation, nahida has the confidence of thinking she was capable of doing all that in the past and therefore is capable of doing it all again as needed. in any case, so far every archon has suffered their own losses, and because in the end, they're just another type of living being in teyvat, they all managed their emotions differently, yielding different results and leadership types. idk, i must have over thought things hehe, but these are JUST my thoughts..
this part of the archon quest was truly unsettling. we now have a little more detail about how tevyat works, plus the fact that we now know that our sibling might just originally be from tevyat somehow, and how this entire world has forgotten the existence of the previous dendro archon, we might have so many memories of ours erased. this archon quest dropped a bombshell of info on us and i hope we're not left hanging.
It’s so amazing how this changes everything from sumeru. Rukkhadevata will never be forgotten by us and the traveller as she did good even in her final moments even as a memory. Changing history to show Nahida was always the dendro archon was such a big change and hopefully once the travellers journey really does end somewhere. Hoping he’ll recite the deeds that of a memory erased and gone from the world
I loved that they've done this so much, a literal in-universe retcon is such a cool and unique consequence. It's rare you get to see this sort of thing in any kind of story, and such a great way to take advantage of the medium in a way non-interactive media couldn't!
Honestly, the fact they put so much effort into it and changed so many lines and aspects in the game to reflect what happened is impressive and I respect HoYoverse for it.
It's crazy to think that Rukkhadevata was just . . . gone, from both the story but from every piece of record in the game. And since we were dropped a lore bomb that the abyss sibling isn't a Descender like Traveler, I'm assuming this is also another component that Irminsul had changed in this world. It is very possible that the Heavenly Principles has changed Teyvat's knowledge many times and only we would be aware of it.
When I first witnessed the small changes made towards the narrative of the game, I was awed on how far the developers would go. From the words of those Fatui diplomats in Mondstat, you can see the changes you have made, from Liyue and Inazuma. The Inazuma change was also nice, since before you witnessed and changed the story there, you couldn't even approach the Islands. But Sumeru's story takes the cake on how really far the developers would go to change their world. After looking at this video, I went to the Archives, clicked the Travel Log and chose Sumeru's Act 4, then the 3rd tab. There, Greater Lord Rukkhadevata is still mentioned, which makes sense since this Travel Log is the Traveler's. It's just sad that only the Traveler has access to this particular "forbidden knowledge" and can't share it with anyone, even Paimon.
The last scenes of the quest after the fateful battle made me cry. When rukkhadevata and kusanali met and hugged and rukkha did the ultimate aacrifice for her people. 😭😭😭
After getting Nahida, I’ve become a lot more curious about the Mare Jivari as well as it is from what I understand, one of the few places no Archon can reach
This story quest is just so beautiful but also disturbing at the same time, yes they're most likely are the same person but got resetted, the thing is that they're most beloved Archon is now a different Archon. Rukkhadevata saying Goodbye just breaks my heart
I got CHILLS watching this video So insane how even the tiny details got changed And it makes me sad how I'll never go through Nahida's story/voice lines to the way it was /before/ finishing the Sumeru Archon Quest
In previous archon quests you can feel you really changed that region for the better. But the Sumeru quest impacts the whole world. We’re now the only person in Teyvat who remembers the original lore. (Or perhaps the other 3 would as well?)
This gives me goosebumps, what if something similar happen 500 yrs ago with our siblings that people of Teyvat forget his existence?(except the dendro archon)
Ok so let's say the Time Loop Theory is true, the Sibling started their journey in Khaenri'ah, visited the remaining seven nations and used their power to fight Celestia, and in the last moments of the SoHP, the loops re starts. When the sibling notices the loop, they start making all the decisions the wouldn't never do and in the end, instead of trying to fight the SoHP, they go to the abbys. Somehow, our Sibling 'Descender' trait is replaced with 'Teyvat' trait, this could either be with SoHP shenanigans or Irminsul modifications. With the sibling NOT enabling the final end of their journey, the story continues and the Traveler gets the '4th Descender' trait instead. If this time loop shii is true, then it explains the course of action the Cryo Archon is taking, if the SoHP is now abscent and the gnosis represent Celestia's power over the seven regions of Teyvat, then maybe gathering all 7 gnosis would mean having same authority as the SoHP, the birth of another Throne of the Heavens... Ughhh...too many what ifs that are actually possible... One thing is for sure, Teyvat timeline is very flexible and too easy to modify
but the fact that zhongli's character story about the remaining archons after sumeru archon quest did changed a little but he didnt mention nahida at all, he only mentioned himself and venti as the first archons that still remains in teyvat (correct me if im wrong)
I love how they changed even things that are for the PLAYER only to read, like the descriptions of lotuses. This makes it truly feel like she wasn't just erased from people's memories, but from the WORLD. If not even the player can 'remember' her, she is truly gone.
It's sad that she is completely gone forever, I wonder if the Traveler is only can remember her what about her/his twin? . This is a big changes in genshin lore.
1:31 I think Buer is always nahida's name and not rukkhadevata's, because scaramouche and rukkhadevata herself called nahida as buer. It's ceritainly amazing that genshin took immersion to a whole new level with this sumeru archon quest.
BTW, there is no new timeline: Rukkhadevata was replaced by Nahida. There is no new timeline or rewrite of things, just a name change. They are both Irminsul's avatar, so you can think of them as the same "person/god/archon/whatever" with different names. In this matter the only thing changed is that all the things Rukkhadevata did, was indeed made by Nahida. And of course, Nahida remembers all the things Rukkhadevata did (but she thinks she did them). You can understand it easily if you think that Rukkhadevata is Buer, Nahida is Buer, Buer is the Dendro Archon, and the Dendro Archo is the avatar of the Irminsul tree (or the Irminsul will). So Rukkhadevata and Nahida are different personalities of the same essence (Irminsul). If you are a Doctor Who fan, you already understand this with the different Doctors, all been "The Doctor", but with different flavors. Anyways, is sad to know how Rukkhadevata sacrificed her existence in order to help the people of Sumeru and her other self Nahida, and no one knows. Luckily, the traveller (we as players) was there to witness her sacrifice, and to remember and acknowledge her.
finaly someone else that caught the sniff that the timeline itself is being altered and morphed, and the story as presented on the trailers and dialogues might not be the whole story.
This just absolutely messed-up. For all Rukkha did, she was basically deleted from the past and present, and imagine not being able to talk about this to anyone, not even to Paimon. Heck, not even Venti, Zhongli, and Ei were spared from memory alteration! Rukkha and Nahida deserved better... Traveler has saved Mondo, prevented Liyue's destruction, and reconnected Inazuma back to the world, but in Sumeru? This was their biggest impact yet, and there'd definitely be more to come.
If RD not being deleted her existence from tevyat it will endangered all living being, remember she got corrupted slowly that's why irminsul tree also got corrupted from it..
Rukkhadevata did show herself to be a self-sacrificing archon who serves her people above all, and thus if being forgotten by the world is the price she has to pay for saving them, then she'll glad do it in a heartbeat, and she did without hesitation. It's why the fact no one remembers her is such a tragedy, because she's yet another unsung hero whose deeds no one will exalt or pass down, except for the Traveler.
@@someguywhoenjoymusic1961 What greater lord ████████████ did is a worthy sacrifice. She finally removes Eleazar that's making collei and dunyarzad's life harder.
honestly this was probably the best archon quest we got, and man it was depressing. The scarlet king turned out to be a caring and kind god, that sacrificed himself for the greater good but was still seen as a tyrant. Rukkahdevata was a kind and caring archon, that wanted to protect everyone and rid the world of forbidden knowledge, but was unable to, because she was contaminated by it, and the only way for forbidden knowledge to truly vanish was to forget Rukkhadevata completly. Talk about a rollercoaster of emotion. Not gonna lie the story is getting pretty dark.
There’s also one more detail you missed: Check zhongli’s character Story 5, it says “2 archons now remain” even after the archon quest. Check the Description before the archon quest and the description after the archon quest, the “2 archons remain” still stays there, but the wording is more different. Meaning HoYo had noticed and let that be intentional.
Honestly I love this big change, this change highlights we are playing a role playing game where we are living the story in a present time. Not to mention genshin is like an anime story where upcoming seasons will blow your mind with new revelations. The fact they put efforts into changing every single rukadvada text with krusanali shows how much efforts Hoyoverse is putting in their story telling.
Iirc one of Zhongli's character stories still refers to the fact that only two of the original archons remain. I wonder if that was meant to be changed or if there was a reason why it wasnt. Edit: just a little thought i had, but it's really interesting to see that Venti, Ei, and Zhongli all have a voiceline regarding memories and the traveler. Ei says that if mc remembers her forever, she'll live forever. Zhongli says that if the traveler were to disappear, they would continue to live on in his memories and Venti when greeting the traveler in his voicelines expresses a little disappointment when they can't remember him. Now we realize people can be forgotten involuntarily, meaning they wont live on in memories forever. So - was that all foreshadowing Irminsul's ability? Foreshadowing the future past this quest? Ps. Happy to see you uploading again, Cat! That lore bomb about the traveler at the end of the archon quest was insaneeee
When I was doing the quest, I encouraged Nahida to do it because I knew it's the only way to save the world. But if I knew THIS would happen, I would've destroyed the world with my own hands.
Here's my list of most likely descenders: 1) The Primordial One (Probably the Heavenly Principles); 2) The Second Throne (Celestia/the ones who introduced the Sky Island); 3) I'll go into this in next paragraph; 4) Traveler. There are some others too: Aloy (unlikely as she is not included in this game's lore; Alice (I find her to be the most likely third); The Outlander who fell in love with the Seelie who ended up dooming the Seelies (This Outlander could also be the one who created Celestia, so could be the same as No. 2); The first princess who became the princess of darkness from the battle pass intro (Read asterisked paragraph at end); The second prince from the battle pass intro (read asterisked paragraph at end); Someone from the Honkai-verse (highly unlikely, but there is evidence that supports the two game universes being connected, and if someone from Honkai-verse visited they would be considered an outlander); * In my opinion, the most likely outcome is 1) Prim One; 2) Celestia; 3) Alice; 4) Traveler. Celestia was created by the Outlander who doomed the Seelies. *The abyss sibling is the first princess, the traveler is the second prince. To our current knowledge, Teyvat originally included Two Realms, and Three sources of power: The two realms were the upper realm and the abyss, ruled by the vishaps and whoever is in the abyss (It is highly speculated that the Seelies predate the primordial one's arrival, as seelies served as guides to humans, and humans were brought by the primordial one. I believe Seelies have a relation to the abyss, as the only power known to curse comes from the abyss, but this does not mean that Seelies come from the abyss), and the three powers are the elements (vishaps), abyssal, and ley line (irminsul). For Lumine to become "part of this world", she must have been injected with one of these three powers, and we have only seen elemental power and abyss power able to be used be used by sentient life (ley lines seem to not be able to be controlled). The traveller has been injected with elemental power but is still is seen as foreign, but the abyss doesnt just inject but contaminates/curses. The abyss can even curse irminsul and ley lines. Thus, it is highly likely Lumine has been contaminated by the abyss. *About the bp trailer: First, I want to clarify that the "first princess" and "second prince" probably are not actual princes and princesses, rather it is a story representation of what really happened. An Ashikai video speculated that Khaenri'ah wanted to borrow Celestial power (skyfrost nails) to stop the abyssal power. What if they found an even stronger power, the Genesis Pearl? The Genesis Pearl could be sought by Khaenri'ah to stop the Abyss, and Lumine happened to have visited Khaenri'ah. However, she finds the Genesis Pearl, but the Pearl is not what it seems. What Khaenri'ah thought could save them from the abyss, was the source of the abyss's power, meaning that the genesis pearl, depicted as a pearl in a clam (symbolizing the origin of something) encircled by a black viper with red eyes and poison dripping fangs (symbolizing the abyss i.e. the abyss protects the pearl). It just so happens that after first arriving to Teyvat, the traveler was in a deep slumber while Lumine was awake and ended up in Khaenri'ah. Two outlanders, why did the heavenly principles act to stop them from leaving? Because Aether was with Lumine, and to Aether's ignorance, Lumine had touched the Genesis Pearl, and is no longer and outlander, but one of the abyss.
"History is written by the victors" is what I think really happened, Rukkhadevata didn't seize to exist or the timeline was altered, but the core MEMORY of Irminsul is what changed. The previous lord did exist and that fact didn't or wont change' but what is remembered did change so everyone from Teyvat remembers is that Kusanali is the original archon. Hints of this are that they still call her "Lesser Lord" and as Nahida said "as if the writing was erased but the outline of the words can still be seen" during her story quest.
The saddest but also best present that the former dendro archon could've given to her people and the lesser lord Kusanali. But seeing how thorough the erase was, it puts a lot of historic events into a new perspective. Morax's contracts probably also have changed if he had any involving the former dendro archon.
The fact that Irminsol was saved is proof that the forest will remember. Her sacrifice was done to save the forest, the fact that its healing and the withering is disappearing is proof of her will. The Forest Never Forgets.
Not only was she forgotten, her existence was completely erased from time and space. Makes you wonder how many other parts of history had the same fate in teyvat and no one will ever know because there's no proof. You can't even try to look for holes in history as a way to prove that buer actually existed, because everything was rewritten to make the puzzle pieces of time fit together perfectly. That is incredibly sad and almost scary
To be correct, it's not a new timeline. It's just that the memory of everyone who is part of Teyvat has changed. That's why the Traveller remembers what truly happened. If the past had actually changed, the traveller would remember that past as well.
This is like how at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home everyone forgot about Peter Parker but still knew about Spider-Man. Here, everyone forgot about Rukkhadevata but can still remember the "Dendro Archon".
I really commend the level of attention to detail. It is impressive enough that the developers put such effort in writing those flavor texts in materials and NPCs, but to also change them after is highly commendable. I am glad their story writers and programmers are working hand-in-hand.
Cool video! It summarizes my thoughts on that particular Archon quest quite nicely while introducing a few new ideas I haven't considered. However, Rukkhadevata's erased existence is super interesting to re-consider after what happens at the end of the next Archon Chapter. [Spoilers for that, obviously] Even though history and the world itself had changed, the vase remained there. The writers even went so far to make that mysterious voice call out how important that vase is. So, what does it mean? First, I'd like to point out how it affects the Balladeer. Despite the Balladeer remembering something else, his previous "incarnation" actually makes him feel "more complete". He remembers how many people he killed, and now, he wanders to try and atone for sins. Nahida even encourages him to do this. This vase implies, that those people still died at his hand, and his entire story still happened -- It's just that everyone else believes a lie that he put there instead. Hence the Balladeer telling the Traveler to tell descendants of the Gokkaden "the truth" of him being the cause of their suffering. The mysterious voice mentions that the Balladeer, even with his divine power, couldn't ever erase himself. The voice, however, also mentions that gods, themselves might have been able to, without giving any certainty on the topic. Yet, we know from the tataragami, enkanomiya, and Xiao's curse that gods are never truly gone either. These challenges are why Rukkhadevata creates Nahida to erase her. Nothing can be left of her existence inside Irminsul or this corruption will continue. After all, she cannot erase herself -- even after dying. However, Rukkadevata was the one who created Nahida. Wouldn't erasing Rukkadevata erase Nahida too? Thus, it would create a paradox of time, space, etc. As we can see, though, Nahida doesn't get erased. Which implies that she was still created and born. Plus, Nahida still cries because she feels like something has happened. These instances (with the vase, mysterious voice, and Nahida's tears) all further implies that Rukkhadevata still died, even if the entire world doesn't remember her. Her actions still mattered, and her sacrifice still has an effect on Teyvat. Notice, though, that it must only have an effect on the world itself. Not anyone else connected to the world. So, the Aranara are actually right in this way -- the forest itself will always remember. Anything connected to the forest, though, won't remember. In this way, it makes even more sense for the Aranara to give up memories as if they aren't a big deal. If we assume this is all correct, these Sumeru Archon quests are so cool for the lore the Traveler. It makes it so the Traveler's existence and memories are the only real way to perceive the true world of Teyvat. They know more than the Gods themselves of what the world actually is. Perhaps this is why their sibling encourages them to travel all of Teyvat first? Only people that aren't part of this world can truly see Teyvat for what it is. Everyone else is tied too deeply to Irminsul to even notice when the perceptions of Teyvat change. Now, however, our sibling is too connected to this world, too. Which means it might become a battle of truths between the both of them. But we'll have to wait and see on that. TLDR: I would propose that the vase means this: The world of Teyvat itself never changes, only the memories and perception of it do. The Balladeer still killed people, and Rukkhadevata still sacrificed herself, and everyone else believes in a lie that is thought to be truth. This makes the Traveler the only one who could possibly see Teyvat in its entirety, which makes their whole journey so much more important.
I cant believe that irminsul had such great control over the memories of the beings in teyvat, to be able to make everyone forget if it's destroyed in irminsul, such great powers wow..., I wonder if rukkhadevata fought against the knowledge that shouldn't be known then all things about Khaenriah should be forgotten no? Or maybe I'm tripping
This makes me wonder if celestia used the irmunsul tree to rewrite teyvat many times after they had to destroy it because forbidden knowledge polluted the entirety of it or something like that.
The amount of lore and details connected to this archon quest is absolutely breathtaking. Hoyoverse really outdid themselves again! The final act was fantastic from start to finish!
Also, ever since the game release there’s been a faint voice saying “world… forget me” in Chinese when you stand near a Statue of the Seven, that was removed with the archon quest. It’s crazy how they planned out Sumeru’s story since the beginning
Wouldn't the weird feeling that Nahida felt at the end of her story quest mean, that deep inside she remembers something that she just isn't able to recall(for now). But if she does remember she should meet the same end.
I don't think Nahida remembering about Rukkhadevata means that she's corrupted with forbidden knowledge, since it's not the being Rukkhadevata herself that brings forbidden knowledge, but her knowledge
I was hoping you'd talk about Viridescent timepiece's description: A delicate device used for wayfinding. Legend has it that when the Viridescent Venerer walked barefoot on the fields, the grass beneath her feet would tell her what the birds in the trees could see, and the mud she trod on would tell her what the roots in the earth could hear. But it is said that ever since disaster struck, the grass and trees never spoke again. *For the God of the Woods had died in the disaster.* Since then, she relied on this device for direction when hunting. At the request of a boy she encountered, she ceased hunting birds and beasts. Instead, she made the monsters that brought destruction and suffering her prey. It still mentioned the God of Woods "dying", though this could be an error on the developer's side, it may even be intentional. I read this quote somewhere, "Even though the forest forgets, the wind will always remember."
I have the theory based on the dialogues where it is said that forbidden knowledge comes from outside the world and that it cannot be comprehend it Is possible that if the traveler transmits the knowledge that kusanalli is not the original archon dendro but rukkadevata is, and she existed, this will become forbidden knowledge since its source comes from outside this world and would contaminate the world again, it may be because it is a knowledge of another reality that at that moment is not possible or simply the source is form another world. In fact, the traveler has not said anything about the logic of other worlds or any kind of knowledge, the only thing he/she has ever said is that in other worlds alchemy is secret. The "origin" of the abysmal brother or sister may also have been modified in the irminsul because they transmitted some knowledge out of this world,(probably khaenri'ah knowledge) which contaminated the world, but instead of erasing its existence, their origin was changed so that it would not contaminate it and that is why their are not considered a "descender"even though we know that he/she does come from another world in the end sorry for all the text, farming mushrooms and naku weed did affect me
This archon quest have changed Tevyat entirely as a whole, only the Traveler remembers the truth while the world thinks there is only one dendro archon, Greater Lord Kusanali. Rukkhadevata knows this and will do it for her nation, her people and Tevyat.
Damn after this I appreciate much more the in-game text and NPC dialogues. Who knows some of them will one day be erased completely 😭I would feel guilty for skipping dialogues.
I'm pretty sure it is hinted before the "big change" that the Greater Lord and Lesser Lord are the same person, but she was turned into a child and lost her memories after using her power to stop the forbidden knowledge. The sages simply mistook her for a new god.
Sumeru's quest really hit hard for many players. Just imagine someone in real life getting entirely erased from history and memory, but you are the only one who remembers.
I think it's scary that even her name is gone from written books (that's printed and published before our journey to Sumeru happen). I think it's something that's not supposed to happen. Also, now Ruka's case is similar with Makoto then, they died, yet no one know they died and replaced with someone else. In Makoto case, no one know Ei existed back then so no one know she's been replaced, but in Ruka's case, her existence is annihilate totally brahhh. But I guess, Ruka and Nahida are basically the same thing, considering the fact that they're from the same tree. It's just like Dotore who can make clones of himself but they're stand alone. Anyway, considering this can happen. I wonder if someone rewrite Irminsul so that they can manipulate our sibling's data. If our sibling can still remember Ruka, it means she's actually like us, outsider, but someone was hacking Irminsul and faking her data so she can be classified as someone from Teyvat. Then our sibling learned about it and erased her name (which maybe why the rest about her is blurred). Just a thought tho.
I´ve heard that VV set still mentions the death of the god of woods, taking into consideration that they remove it from almost everywhere, could it be intentional?
Wait… isn’t Nahida’s real name “Buer”? Because when we were fighting scaramouch nahida and the others still remembers the greater lord and then nahida says to the MC that he is nahida’s or Buer’s first sage…
Remember how Makoto and Ei are both referred to as Baal, despite the fact that "Baal" is Makoto's other name and Ei's is Beelzebul? I think the same logic applies here with Nahida and Rukkhadevata
@Can'tthinkofaname No, Rukkhas demon name is also Buer since she and Nahida are technically the same Entity. Also, all archons are named after demons from the Ars Goetia. Samael/Samiel is not a demon name so it cant be an archon name.
@@dearestdoppio8554 They are different entities. Rukkhadevata created Nahida from a branch or Irminsul. The absolute closest Nahida is a clone. The true nature between Rukkha and Nahida is not what Marchosius is to Guoba and more what King Piccolo is to Piccolo Jr.
I feel we shouldn't think about it as everyone forgetting GLR (Greater Lord Rukkhadevata), but as merging her existence and achievements with LLK (Lesser Lord Kusanali), LLK was mentioned to be purest and least corrupted part of GLR, which technically makes it an extension of her. People forgetting GLR show us that past really doesn't matter if it doesn't affect present or future, because even removing existence of GLR - one of 7 original Archons, who had deep connection with Irminsul didn't affect the world a lot. You can think of GLR as past version of LLK, since that's what people of Teyvat accept right now. The only thing I see as suprising are the titlings of Rukkhadevata and Kusanali, as we know Kusanali was an extension, which makes her title of Lesser Lord appropriate. Weirdly enough after the events of Akasha Pulses, everyone still keeps calling her LESSER LORD Kusanali, I feel its either devs forgetting about that detail or actual mistery/part of the plot.
As people we al strive to be remembered for something or atleast by someone, that's why this hurts so much, because it's not like she was just forgotten, she was entirely removed. But in the eyes of the people who will never know, there is no pain. The pain is only felt by those who remember. So I say, let us be the anchor that holds her existence is atleast this universe, we wil remember. So that not all is truly lost.
it's crazy that even in written books the words were changed. honestly the way everyone collectively forgot about her was mindblowing, as well as a bit unnerving
I was Abt to say that
written books, character voice lines and info in their in-game profiles, world quests dialogue, ALL OF THEM retroactively change. since this is a possibility now, and irminsul is fundamental to the existence of teyvat, anything can be real or fake from here on out.
literally, I checked as many of the in game dialogs or books that I remember had mentioned Rukka, and it was all gone, its impressive how much attention to detail Hyv has, it is unsettling and sad though, it had to be done but I felt like she deserved so much more...
you know, it's scary to think that this might not be the first time it happened
It might be best to think of Teyvat as a virtual reality world (like Elysian Realm), memories = data. As the corruption of the abyss is now confirmed to be information (data).
It is how even the 'physically stored information was changed'
The fact that back then Zhongli knew the traveler would carry the burden of knowing unknown/forgotten records of Teyvat (adding the fact that it is known that they’re a descender) makes me so intrigued how the other 3 regions would play out;
We’re basically unintentionally changing history
Honestly, we already are a major part of history in all four regions that we've been to.
We'll probably be a major part to tevyat's entire history itself at the end
The foreshadowing he said "those who witness will remember it"
Yes, I remember Zhongli talking about it in Guyun Stone Forest.
Just curious how do y'all remember these lines of dialogue from so long ago? I'm completely lost rn
@@ConfusedWalrus73 google sir😂
At the start they made us feel sad for Nahida, at the end they made us feel sad for Rukkhadevata.
Dendro archons are bound for suffering...
Such is the price to pay for shouldering all the heavy truths of the world. There is a reason the phrase “ignorance is bliss” came about
i dont understand the difference between rukkadevata and nahida.

I don’t understand why you so surprised: it awaits all common people - when you die, after some time, the world will completely and forever forget about your existence.
1. This is a very interesting
turn but it FRUSTRATES ME that the traveler can’t talk to anyone about it.
@Can'tthinkofaname So like, there could have been a god before Rukkhadevata but that god was also erased for good. another iteration.

Have a smoke please

Now some things that concern me even after the Sumeru Quest:
1. What the hell does Collei's dream about Dottore burning the Irminsul signify?
2. There were theories that Dain (bough keeper => (main branch of a tree) keeper) has direct access to Irminsul since he also knows things without being present there
(a lot of people missed that)
6. Nahida mentioned that the Heavenly Principles became inactive after the Cataclysm, wonder what that's about
7. Dottore was completely fine even though he knows the truth and the Forbidden Knowledge, so why would the Sumeru people have various sicknesses after learning about it
Notice one thing. Thete was only ONE star shooting acroos the sky.
Damn, I didn't realize the extent of which the Rukkhadevata erase was implemented in Genshin. The fact that even the books and voice lines blur out her existence is an amazing implementation and sheer dedication to narrative by the devs, bravo to them.
Why does Rukkhadevata erased herself
@@LLL-uz1ki to remove the forbidden knowledge completely

Also I'm curious about the knowledge Dottore exchanged to Nahida, about the sky is a lie.
destiny can be changed probably because the sky is a hoax . its like how people back then and now uses astrology to predict ones fortune and stuff. since the sky is a hoax, doesnt that mean whoever thats controlling the sky could alter ones fate?

i completed his acts lately, that line hit me, in truth it also matters in rl
Zhongli said something like "History records, but history may be changed..." and "Time is a mighty force, and histories twists in its flows."
WHEN THE WORLD NEED THIS CHANNEL MOST, THEY WILL RETURN
I have a theory: what if the traveler's sibling journeyed through the entirety of teyvat 500 years ago, hailed as a hero, but no one remembered her achievement or existence because it was removed by irminsul during the cataclysm
Nahida was able to find record of their adventure in irminsul so i dont think so
I was thinking about that too, the traveler (lumine for me) isn’t from this world so I definitely trust her memory more considering she still remembers rukkahdevata, she definitely knows that aether is her brother and that they’ve journeyed together for thousands of years and are not actually from teyvat.
I doubt it, only because the aranara remember the "golden nara" that is clearly the abyss sibling but they forget rukka
EDIT: After a bit of thought, crack theory.

The traveler already still remembers her since she’s not from this world and has no connection to irminsul
We got a branch of the Irminsul after the quest. I think that was the item to commemorate Rukkha
Sumeru (and partially Inazuma's quest) is in line with what Dainsleif said about "Re-weaving fate/destiny" but we're already doing it!!!!
Yeah it was in chinese t ho
Of Course Nahida is more resilient, Nahida can cook 😂
Jokes aside, the growth that Nahida had to go through as an Archon (a child Archon at that) was and is drastic as hell.
She bears no hatred and that makes her a truly fantastic character.
yeah, im sure she guessed that, especially how in her story quest she mentions that knowing there was a "warmth" there in the past, without knowing what that warmth was, is enough. but i wouldnt say nahida is any more resilient than ei, since ei has the burden of remembering the loss of her sister, while nahida, though she feels the absence, she now has no memory of rukkhadevata's presence. it's a lot easier to just move forward when you have no memory of ever having something to look back to.. just think, ei had to live for 500 years, and has to continue leading her people with the memory of her sister and singlehandedly uphold their now shared perception of eternity. meanwhile, nahida now believes that she was, is, and will always be the one that all of sumeru (and by extension through irminsul, the whole world) relies on. where ei has to live up to makoto's legacy, nahida is only living up to her "own" legacy; where ei may continue to have doubts and look back on makoto's memory for guidance and consolation, nahida has the confidence of thinking she was capable of doing all that in the past and therefore is capable of doing it all again as needed. in any case, so far every archon has suffered their own losses, and because in the end, they're just another type of living being in teyvat, they all managed their emotions differently, yielding different results and leadership types. idk, i must have over thought things hehe, but these are JUST my thoughts..
this archon quest got to be the best one yet, cant wait for future quests that will probably surpass this one
Khaenri'ah will be the peak
this part of the archon quest was truly unsettling. we now have a little more detail about how tevyat works, plus the fact that we now know that our sibling might just originally be from tevyat somehow, and how this entire world has forgotten the existence of the previous dendro archon, we might have so many memories of ours erased. this archon quest dropped a bombshell of info on us and i hope we're not left hanging.
I got CHILLS watching this video
So insane how even the tiny details got changed
And it makes me sad how I'll never go through Nahida's story/voice lines to the way it was /before/ finishing the Sumeru Archon Quest
And dainsleif
It's sad that she is completely gone forever, I wonder if the Traveler is only can remember her what about her/his twin? . This is a big changes in genshin lore.
the twin does probably remember her too
but would the abyss remember because i dont think irminsul connects to the abyss
the abyss twin is not a descender, so cant remember
@@manasnair4898 abyss twin is connected to irminsul that's why it had their records. Anyone who isn't a defender will forget her.
If the twin is from Teyvat, then probably not. It really does seem that the traveller is alone here with the horrible truth.
And that is terrifying
@@heretical_cuttlefish Its okay, Aloy will remember too all is well
You know, Aloy, and the Unknown God.
The attention to detail from Hoyoverse is really incredible. This was an amazing archon quest all around, but also a pretty sad one in the end...
I'm sooo glad you're back! we missed you with your lore videos! Thank you for all your effort, I hope you are well and happy.
1:31 I think Buer is always nahida's name and not rukkhadevata's, because scaramouche and rukkhadevata herself called nahida as buer.
It's ceritainly amazing that genshin took immersion to a whole new level with this sumeru archon quest.
BTW, there is no new timeline:
Rukkhadevata was replaced by Nahida.
That's a really good explanation really, and it helps me a lot dealing with this. Thanks man.
I feel like people completely look past this. They are both one and the same, nothing changed.
finaly someone else that caught the sniff that the timeline itself is being altered and morphed, and the story as presented on the trailers and dialogues might not be the whole story.

Hyv forgor 💀
yeah but as a giant ancient tree instead of being the dendro archon
Rukkhadevata is now the name of an ancient tree, not the archon
honestly this was probably the best archon quest we got, and man it was depressing. The scarlet king turned out to be a caring and kind god,
that sacrificed himself for the greater good but was still seen as a tyrant.
There’s also one more detail you missed:
Check zhongli’s character Story 5, it says “2 archons now remain” even after the archon quest.
ZL's character quest canonically takes place before you go to Sumeru. So at that point, greater lord hasnt been erased yet.
@@dearestdoppio8554 yes! However, i am talking about his character story from his voicelines
When I was doing the quest, I encouraged Nahida to do it because I knew it's the only way to save the world. But if I knew THIS would happen, I would've destroyed the world with my own hands.
time to join your sibling in the abyss ;D
Here's my list of most likely descenders: 1) The Primordial One (Probably the Heavenly Principles); 2) The Second Throne (Celestia/the ones who introduced the Sky Island); 3) I'll go into this in next paragraph; 4) Traveler.
There are some others too:
Aloy (unlikely as she is not included in this game's lore;
Alice (I find her to be the most likely third);
The Outlander who fell in love with the Seelie who ended up dooming the Seelies (This Outlander could also be the one who created Celestia, so could be the same as No. 2);
The first princess who became the princess of darkness from the battle pass intro (Read asterisked paragraph at end);
The second prince from the battle pass intro (read asterisked paragraph at end);
Someone from the Honkai-verse (highly unlikely, but there is evidence that supports the two game universes being connected, and if someone from Honkai-verse visited they would be considered an outlander);
* In my opinion, the most likely outcome is 1) Prim One; 2) Celestia; 3) Alice; 4) Traveler.
This is so interesting! Thank you!
Genshin story writing and direction on the visuals has massively improved with sumeru. The story’s actually good now 😭
The saddest but also best present that the former dendro archon could've given to her people and the lesser lord Kusanali.
Man Your Theories Aree Really Something Else, Keep Doing It Bro!✨♥️
Tighnari and nilou’s character story quests also have some changes too when you finished act5 first.
This is like how at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home everyone forgot about Peter Parker but still knew about Spider-Man. Here, everyone forgot about Rukkhadevata but can still remember the "Dendro Archon".
it is literally like that
I really commend the level of attention to detail.
[Spoilers for that, obviously]
Even though history and the world itself had changed, the vase remained there.
I'm thinking that forbidden knowledge may be things that were permanently erased from everyone's memories. So having it back again causes corruption.
It isn't even just the memories...the tree itself literally bent reality to its will, rewriting anything and everything that mentions Rukka.
Look up the concept of World Tree. Irminsul is Teyvat
@@dearestdoppio8554 I winder if it's sentient
Correction: Buer is most likely Kusanali's name, not Rukkhadevata's, after all Both Scaramouche and Nahidas uses that name before the erasing occurs
"Let the past die, kill it if you have to" - Kylo Ren
I was hoping you'd talk about Viridescent timepiece's description:
A delicate device used for wayfinding.
Legend has it that when the Viridescent Venerer walked barefoot on the fields,
the grass beneath her feet would tell her what the birds in the trees could see,
and the mud she trod on would tell her what the roots in the earth could hear.
But it is said that ever since disaster struck, the grass and trees never spoke again.
*For the God of the Woods had died in the disaster.*
Since then, she relied on this device for direction when hunting.
I have the theory based on the dialogues where it is said that forbidden knowledge comes from outside the world and that it cannot be comprehend it
Is possible that if the traveler transmits the knowledge that kusanalli is not the original archon dendro but rukkadevata is, and she existed, this will become forbidden knowledge since its source comes from outside this world and would contaminate the world again, it may be because it is a knowledge of another reality that at that moment is not possible or simply the source is form another world.
I have a feeling that once we get to Fontaine, we will be judged in accordance to our interference to Teyvat's timeline. Quite exciting actually.
But no one remembers that the timeline was changed. Not even the gods
nobody in Tevyat realized that we have changed the timeline, if they knew something has changed we would probably get another sumeru story quest.
Because when we were fighting scaramouch nahida and the others still remembers the greater lord and then nahida says to the MC that he is nahida’s or Buer’s first sage…
since nahida is revealed to be rukkhadevata in a different samsara, they both are "buer"
