Is that the only camshaft sensor for a 2.7, or is it two, one on both sides.

I have an 07 dodge charger rt radiator cracked ... replaced the radiator went to turn it over and it putted like it was gonna die .. it idles rough and eventually dies I haven't driven it cuz it's still up on Jack stands so I replaced crank sensor and had a code for knock so replaced that.. as well I had a p0300 code for random misfire so I replaced all 16 spark plugs check engine went away for a few minutes.. car is still doing the same thing except now I have a blinking check engine light and it smells like it's burning rich I'm told... cannot pull codes with blinking check engine light.. no smoke from anywhere fluids look good not mixed... it's got 113500 miles any ideas

rayg125shayd613 I had a 300C that did the same thing. It was a blown head gasket on the driver side. It was crazy because nothing was mixing like you think it would. I pulled the reservoir cap off and the exhaust was blowing back through the cooling system.

Ocie Carlisle did you have exhaust still coming through the pipes I have good pressure still coming through the exhaust

Appreciate the response hoping it's not anything big like that I've also been pointed toward valve springs and seats just bought the car in Feb I hope it's nothing serious

rayg125shayd613 I hope not either. But try doing that first with the cap off. Make sure the engine is cold. If the head gasket is broken on the exhaust side, when it starts up it will blow bubbles through the coolant in the system and you will smell the exhaust (raw gas) and white smoke.

Wats the difference between the camshaft and the crankshaft what are the symptoms

    • @ocarlisle

Amber Holloway camshaft and crank sensor both deal with timing. Crank sensor also controls what you see on your RPM or rev counter and is normally situated near the bottom of the engine. Cam sensor sets the valve timing and can advance or retard timing depending on engine load. Cam sensor fault usually has difficulty starting and crank usually won’t let it start.

Reggie Lamay did you do a trouble code scan by chance when you put the new one in? It could be just stuck in the computer of the car until it runs for a little bit.

Ocie Carlisle ive had the code from the key dance and replaced the cam sensor reset the computer by disconnecting the battery. But cam sensor code still there. My car starts then dies then starts up on second crank

Reggie Lamay did the connection look corroded on the plug? How does your battery terminals look? You could have a short circuit in the back of the plug itself as well.

Ocie Carlisle terminal looks good. But wires for cam sensor are exposed near the engine it looks like the wire loom took some heat off the engine. But wires are still looks okay noting burnt.

Reggie Lamay you will probably need to check the voltage on the plug to make sure it's sending the correct voltage through the system. That's probably why it's not reading it in the ecu.
