Update. I was struggling deciding between the Subaru Forester 2.5X Premium 5spd manual and the Volkswagen Tiguan S 4motion with Sunroof... Forester comes with a sunroof also. Comparably equipped, the pricing was close enough to be equal. In the end, the interior finish of the Tiguan and my own prior history with VW cars, won me to the Tiguan. I now own the Night Blue 2012 Tiguan S 4motion w/ Sunroof. The manual override feature is great since manual was not an option.
I did a lot of research on this car since I'm seriously thinking of getting one. The issue with the transmission is fixed in TSB 01-12-13, so look for that online, and talk to your dealer to see if you want that installed. It updates the firmware on the transmission, the shift pattern. Plus I have heard this car requires a break in period when the car is learning your driving style. Not sure on that last bit. Agree with you on the sunroof screen, and colors on your mode. :-)
I like the car quite a lot, although I still wonder if i should have gotten the Forester or the FJ or the Wrangler. I'll stick with the Tiguan i think. It drives well, i was able to get 31mpg on mixed driving with highway construction and traffic. Will see if I can get a decent gauge of what mileage to expect this weekend. Panoramic sunroof is great, even though I haven't opened it because of rain. I might try to get the RNS 315 stereo nav unit aftermarket. Not an option in the S model.
TXLorenzo I know i worked at the vw dealership and i have never seen a dsg tiguan But the guy making the video is in us and saying this is a dsg bit its not
