Thank you for sharing your informative blog. I have been watching them for years now.
I like the way you explained.
Precise , clear and straightforward.
God bless Grandpa Blogger.
Another very informative and helpful advice...thanks grandpa!
you're way smart, grandpa ! papi and i love you both ! you give out practical and smart advices!
Great job and info! Thanks.
Maraming salamat po, it's a good idea. My trip is coming up.
Thank you sir, I actually used your recommendation...there very kind representatives. God bless you 🙏 & you family
Ots true Grandpa, this is a very good solution, thank you..
Thank you for helping us! 🙏 🙏
Hi grand pa, I read from subscribers that even if you buy travel insurance the hospitals in the Philippines will not honor the insurance you bought and has to pay the hospital bills out of your pocket then you have to call the travel insurance for reimbursement, what if you don’t have enough money traveling in the Philippines so what is the use of getting travel insurance if they don’t even ask for travel insurance card upon admission to the hospital. This is ridiculous.
Thank You Po ! Ingat Lagi ! I Hope You Have A Wonderful Day ! 😊😊😊
I agree play the game , thanks a lot for helping us.
Thank you Grandpa Godbless
Thank you, good info.
Thanks so much for the information. You're awesome 👌
Good idea Granda! 🙏🏻❤️
well done sir its so info for me
Thanks Grandpa for a valuable information on purchasing a travel insurance. All travel insurance premium I’ve found through google search were so pricey. Now I know where to get mine and my husband’s coverage. Take care and more power to you!!!!
Thanks for the info.
Excellent idea, grandpa
You are absolutely right 👍

You're great 👍
Thank you grand pa, sana meron d2 sa canada
Salamat Grandpa for the good advice and the link. I am shopping for travel insurance for our trip to the Philippines next month, for peace of mind just in case. I am dual.
Just for your information, duals are not required to have travel insurance. But you may want to get one if you need protection from sickness just in case.
Let's play the game, even though we know, we're being scammed, but game on!!! Salamat po sa pointers👍🏾🇺🇲🇵🇭
Im glad i dont have Family to Visit to the Philippines no more Hustle , some Country they Promote Tourism but in the Philippines they give to much Hard time to the Pilipino American Tourist to enter the Philippines ....
You said it. The individual should/must read it, instead of just hearing what they want to hear
Just waiting for the ridiculous insurance to go away before we go home!
You can get travel ins from ALLIANZ TRAVEL INS for only $55 dollar for 62 y/o 3 months stay in the Phil. It includes Covid 19 and $50,000 coverage. I know that...'coz I just did it.
Do they give you the proof of insurance and how much it covers? Also how long did it take them to send you the policy?
Yes. They will send u the policy thru your email within an hour. Then before hanging up tell them to give u a letter stating Covid19 is covered and $50,000 coverage.
Good info, thanks. I also have world wide coverage through my regular insurance but the statement of benefits is not in the format required by the Philippines, so this scam continues. Great for the insurance companies because Omicron is milder and they know most customers buy a policy with no intention of filing a claim. I found a policy for$54.00 with a $25 cancelation fee. Just another way for a country to extract more money from tourists, lol.
Thanks for the video. 30 days of travel insurance for $100 or less not worth worrying about.
I have Plan G supplement with Aetna. It gives me 60 days of coverage outside of the USA. I think all Plan G is standard coverage dictated by Medicare...only premiums change depending on the insurance company.
I also have a BDO bank account. I keep well funded with a bank wire from my USA Chase account upon arrival for emergencies during my 6-month stay.
As far as proof of insurance after arriving in the Philippines, I have heard on rare occasions that it was asked for but never when extending your visa.
That’s a good idea ❤️
Love this. Glad you thought of it. I heard one old man bought travel insurance and told them he was 21. I like your way better.
I'm thinking of the same idea, I just wonder if the airline will check his age and reference it with the insurance age??
love watching your vlog Grandpa, for less headache, just bought myself a travel Insurance from Squaremouth, for $49, covid are covered, to 50000.
Hi, just interested. What's the name of the company please. I'm travelling to the Philippines too. Thank you
I checked and they were all in the hundreds for a 3 month stay
You’re right play the game they want, coz the government don’t mind it, but the carrier monetized that insurance requirements
some travel credit cards provide travel insurance including medical treatment and medical evacuation. check your travel credit card benefits if you are already covered.
Hi Vlogger Grandpa, I finally got my travel insurance today! 14 days before my flight! It was a freebie courtesy of my credit card company (Latitude Financial in Australia). It’s a complementary insurance cover up to $Au700,000, and yes they clearly stated COVID costs as well. I’m actually dual citizen, but I could not find in the Philippine Embassy/Consulate websites stating "dual citizens are exempt from travel insurance". I did not want to take the risks of turning up at the airport (especially with an expired Philippine passport!), and getting turned away because of the travel insurance.
If you want to verify, call your airline.
I'm a advocate for rescerprocity for what ever country you are from! For property ownership, voting insurances, human rights!
Also grandpa look at Squaremouth travel insurance. Looks good am in Washington state. Seems alot of the companies on your site wont accept certain states like Washington.
Thank you for your very informative video.
According to the informations you provided, if someone is planning to stay 1 month or more in the philippines, there is also the possibility to buy a onward return ticket with a date of 1 week after your arrival (legit ticket valid for 48h, it cost 10$). Then buy an insurance for only 1 week, it will cost 20$.
The only question I have, do the immigration will check the return ticket and will give a visa for a week only, or automatically 30 days ? I think it will be 30 days, but if someone has a confirmation about it, it will be very welcome.
Diskarte AF!!!
This what I'll probably have to do. I can't get any document stating "covid 19 coverage" even though I have it though my provider and is more than enough. Thank you for this.
Yep true..lets play the game..
Good information. I still say why do they want covid insurance if you are fully vaccinated and boosted? Not to go to hospital isnt that the reason?
Salamat Po Lolo, I have excellent medical Insurance and it even stated it covers Covid 19 during travel 100%, but it did not state the actual $35,000 and above (it is actually unlimited) . I opted to pay $23 and have the proof
what medical insurance do you have po?

I want to share this because I want others to know this is not hopeless. I just put my mom on Singapore Airlines tonight and they accepted Kaiser's evidence of covereage letter that I requested from Kaiser. They did not even ask to see her card. Kaiser wrote that this was an evidence of coverage verification and that she was a member and had been one since 1999, continues to be a member and they listed a telephone number for anyone to call to verify the information They did not delay my mother at the check-in counter. I think they understand "coverage" and "insured" over at Singapore Airlines. Sorry PAL, my mom is too old for this; thank you Singapore Airlines for treating us right. Please tell me who is getting away with anything? She is insured for everything anyone can get and she has no "max" and Kaiser was not willing to state some random number that I provide. We went to an airline that understands the language of the letter from Kaiser. Who knows, maybe they also have Kaiser as an option for healthcare at Singapore Airlines (possibly their local employees). I think it is shameful to extort poor old seniors on fixed incomes. I think that is what you do when you hold this over them causing them great anxiety. Shame on you who do this. I also used a travel agent who advised me all they way to the travel date. She was great! I am happy to recommend her.
We’ll, There is a pretty wide gulf between the operational culture between PAL and SQ.
There is a reason why SQ is the best airline in the world. every other airline that wishes to be admired in a better light, should try and learn a thing or two from them.
It's all in the training..check in staff don't fly the planes .again ,I say, it's the training or lack of it ,at PAL
Thank you for this information. I called kaiser and yeah they will not put any amount and they offer me the evidence of coverage. I was thinking of flying with Pal but now i am going to check singapore airlines.. Thank you..
GeoBlue Insurance po mura pero travel insurance walang kasamang refund ng ticket at saka dapat may primary health insurance ka po.
Dear Grandpa Vlogger
I truly appreciate your idea of buying the most affordable travel insurance that covers $35,000. for Covid 19 treatment to satisfy the requirement as long as I have a real coverage that will pay for my treatment. I searched and found one that covers $50,000. and is priced at $131.50 for both me and my husband. It is indicated though at the bottom of that price “secondary coverage”. When I checked, secondary coverage means if I have a primary insurance, the primary insurance will cover first, and any remaining balance will be covered by the secondary insurance. I understand that this doesn’t matter anymore considering that in buying this insurance I only need a paper to satisfy the travel requirement. But I need to know if “secondary coverage” will be accepted at the check in counter. Thank you very much, Grandpa (me and my husband are grannies too at 72) you are a big help for people who are confused with government administration and regulations.
Primary or secondary does not matter. The airline will just want to make sure you have insurance. I understand it does not even get checked by immigration officer.
Nice Strategy Grandpa hahaha...
It. Simple just get the amount want, it got all amounts. Always get 3 times more then tbink may need. , it just may save your life
For the benefits of Philippines government, this COVID insurance should be issued in the the Philippine airports, so, at least they also makes money and no hustle . Travelers are willing to pay the amount as long it is specified before you get your ticket. The same thing with whatever this test they required.
I looked at that site you spoke of and I am currently in New York and it says not available to people in NY why is that i have found this many travel insurance Co.
Hello Grandpa, I just subscribed your channel . It's very informative finally going home next month. Can you post that link for the travel insurance that you mention , that's will fit my needs just need to show i have insurance. Thank you.
www.visitorscoverage.com/
Be aware that even if you have Medicare Advantage insurance coverage for international travel, the insured has to pay cash first at the point of emergency service . You claim reimbursement from your insurance (some will have deductible and coinsurance) when you return home. Always check your coverages and understand your policy.
Grandpa don’t get the visitor secure even though it’s the cheapest when you check on the sample id card and visa letter and you will click on it you will see on the overall policy maximum limit it says $0 zero US dollar. So they better check the insurance that will indicate on the overall policy maximum of $50,000. But you’re right too just increase the deductible and the premiums will go down since you’re not going to use it in the Philippines coz you have your own medical insurance.
@Vlogger grandpa do you think Philippine government makes money from the health insurance requirement? serious question
Someone also recommend that travel medical insurance site and will follow your advice. There's also a popular proposal to replace RT-PCR to Antigen test says DOT Sec Romulo hope it get implemented by IATF in the coming weeks.
Wonder if it be ok if use these home antigen tests?
@@batchboy999 not the self test kit. Should be lab results.
loook for direct payment agreement between your insurance and each hospital you may use..or contact your ins and find out from them..
Direct pay is a hospital decision. Ask your insurance if they have direct pay arrangement with specific hospital.
For the UK you can use money supermarket insurance site. Just put single trip 30 days for a 55 year old =£25.
Does it indicate CoVid treatment and hospitalization while on travel outside the UK?

Thanks Grandpa for good advices. I live in Italy and I have an existing insurance active for many years. Upon reaching the age 73 my insurance agent advised me to change for better coverage of health benefits as I'm already old...stating that I am cover of sickness, disability and Pandemic cases, increasing also my premium.
I'll be going to Philippines April 11, (less a month) do I have to buy another travel Insurance that cover my duration of stay in my country?
Yes. Or, if you wish, you can try to get a letter from your existing insurance carrier that states you are (1) covered overseas, (2) including covid-19, and (3) for at least $35,000. If you can't get that in writing, you might want to buy travel insurance. However, in case you need to use it, in most likelihood, you will need to have cash to get treated at the hospital and file a claim yourself at a later date.
Dear Vlogger Grandpa
Just wanted to let you know that I was able to get a letter from my medical insurance provider in the USA (Blue Cross Blue Shield Premaria) with no difficulty whatsoever. They said this was common and the letter stated a dollar amount , Covid , period of coverage and international travel including Philippines.
Thanks for pointing this option out!
Regards
Frank
I have the same medical insurance provider (Blue Cross Blue Shield). I requested for a confirmation letter from them and they sent me one which describes my coverage of over $35000 here in the US and outside the US. It includes covid coverage too. I took the letter to the pal office just to check if that confirmation letter is enough to satisfy the philippine government medical requirement and they told me "that was not enough to meet the requirement". The pal person told that the confirmation letter should have stated specifically "TRAVEL INSURANCE". Instead they gave me a list of insurance providers that I can buy the insurance from. I tried to argue but they didn't budge. Naging manager na dito pal hindi maka-understand english. LOL.........
@@yojcobile3585 I got concerned when I read you reply so I reread my letter from insurance company.
The title is: International Statement of Coverage.
In the body it states the coverage amount is unlimited and exceeds $250,000
It says it is valid in all countries including the Philippines and does cover COVID-19
It seems to cover all the check boxes. Surely this meets their entry requirements. At least I hope so cause it is what I plan the bring on my trip. Thanks for your reply and getting me to double check. Also the insurance company is Premera Blue Cross.

@@franktirelli You better go to the pal office and show them that letter before your scheduled flight. They might tell you the same thing what they told me. Good luck

I have BCBS of Illinois and the two letters I got didn't state anywhere of anything covid related coverage even though it says I'm covered internationally for basically unlimited amount.
Sir, you miss to mention the name of the insurance company.
luvelyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy sir.
Will my CDC card from Walgreens get me in the Philippines ?
The hospitals do not care about your insurances no matter what type, you will pay and then ask your insurance for refund or reimbursements
True
Why buy travel insurance if we don’t need it?
But i think its also better not to cancel it .just do the cancelation when you get back home.
Go check Travel Guard they will send you a letter to satisfy Phil requirement
Grandpa after around 30 emails and calls I was able to get a document from my heath Insurance that states:
"Here’s what your plan covers
Our records show that your coverage under the xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (XXX) became
effective on 01-01-2022 until 12-31-2022. According to your plan, you are allowed coverage for emergency-related services including Covid-19 while travel out of the country for an amount of $50,000 dollars."
I am on this since January 31st, after receive 10 different letters still can't believe, this last one is what I was looking for, just to show you it is possible. I think with this I don't need anything else until next year. What you think?
If you can't afford $82, you probably shouldn't be leaving the house.
What if there are 5 of you in the family traveling? What if you need 6 month's worth of insurance? That's big money! I did not want to complicate it and that's why I only used one traveler and for 30 days.
82.00 , wow if only we were all 21 again, $700.00 for an adult is more than most can afford.
Grandpa, I am a retired dual citizen and now residing in the Philippines, am I required to go back to the USA every year? If so, what are the penalties if I didn't come back to US more than a year?
Hello Grandpa Vlogger - my sister-in-law is going to Philippines this coming May and because she is dual citizenship she is not required to get a travel insurance.
Correct.
Hi I get what you say but when I leave the Philippines 🇵🇭 to go back to 🇬🇧 uk will immigration it the airline ask for the insurance again when I leave the Philippines 🇵🇭 wait for ya answer thanks very much 🙏
I almost bought airfare for myself and my son yesterday but when I found out we’d be required to have travel insurance on top of RT PCR tests when we arrive there, I backed out. Airfare alone will be close to $5K for all 3 of us. Having to pay for those extra expenses is too much.
Antigen is now gtg, unless you and your kids are not vaxxed
@@THELOST8707TRAVELER Yes we’re all vaccinated with booster. I actually found cheap tickets on ANA and was able to buy then.
@@whereisnemo9272 That's good to know. Have a safe flight
What if you hold a resident visa I don't think you need insurance. The insurance company's that your showing us the need to cover you for covid and not just any old health insurance cover.

Thank you for your thorough instructions. You mentioned that you have dual citizenship and having two passports (both of America and the Philippines). So technically you don't need this Travel Insurance. Do I get it right? Now, I am also a dual citizen: a naturalized American citizen and have been sworn back in as a Filipino citizen. I have all the papers of my Filipino citizenship on file. I don't have, however, a Philippine passport. Will the airline accept the original documents of my Filipino citizenship? Thank you for your help.
If you are a dual citizen, with or without Philippine Passport, you are considered a Filipino citizen and not required to buy travel insurance. Whether or not the airline is trained to understand that I can't tell you. But if you are flying PAL, they will most likely understand that.
@@vloggergrandpa2707 maraming salamat po sa inyong tulong. Your vlogg is greatly appreciated. God bless and stay safe.
Hello Vlogger Grandpa , how about this ,,, before canceling insurance ( in 2 days ) extend your visa , because you can do that as soon as you leave the airport , " or within a few days " then insurance is not required , i think that would make it closer to Legal

What was the insurance the lady on the phone suggested again pls? Wasn't clear, was it travel secure? Thank you.
Secure something. I had it on the video.
Grandpa should I buy the whole duration of my stay in the Philippines or 1 month of travel insurance is good enough for compliance. ?
Some viewers say 30 days is enough. Unverified.
I have a Medicare Advantage Coverage through Kaiser Permanente that provides emergency medical hospitalization coverage but does not specify covering Covid-19 at $35k. I haven’t tried getting a letter specifying Covid-19 at $35 but I can present my Medicare ID, Kaiser ID and policy specifying coverage of medical emergency while traveling internationally (outside of USA) or domestically, would this be acceptable to the airline personnel or would it satisfy the travel insurance requirement of the Philippine government?
BTW, In case of medical emergency, I would pay the cost and get reimbursed by Kaiser Permanente.
This travel insurance is one hurdle against traveling to the Philippines right now but most recently I noticed that airfare from San Francisco to the Philippines have been going up every 2 to 4 days I checked since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Anyways, the latter development has all but dampened if not shelved my plans to travel to the Philippines in May of this year.
Thanks & more power.
As I stated. It will depend on the airline. You may be risking it if you have no letter specifying what is required.
A friend of mine wants to go home to the Philippines for a short vacation. She's on Full Medicaid here in the US. Is she covered by Medicaid while in the Philippines? Thank you for your reply.

Dual citizens are Filipino citizens. Green card holders are also Filipino citizens if they are Filipino. Filipino citizens are NOT required to have travel insurance.
What I don’t understand about this travel insurance is, why do you need travel insurance when if you get sick in the Philippines you have to pay in cash and your insurance will reimbursed you when you get back to the US. What I know is insurance companies in the States don’t deal directly with hospitals in the Philippines. That is the reason why you have to pay in cash and get reimbursed when your back in the States.

@@danger26102 FYI.
Bahamas need travel insurance also. They called it Travel Health Visa.
Grandpa what about if we don’t have an international coverage on our insurance?
Then you have to get travel insurance. Also, be careful in case you get sick in the Philippines.
Maybe in the Philippines they want the money up front, and then you file with your insurance, and they reimburse you.
