  • Margaretta Local Schools, a small district in Erie County in far northern Ohio, began revamping its literacy instruction in the wake of pandemic school disruptions. Adopting curricula based on the Science of Reading, which emphasizes teaching phonics and decoding skills, was simply a best practice in their view, and was one of many ways they were going to help their students catch up after Covid.
