I've got to admit, I think Uncle Bumblefuck missed the mark on this as well. He did praise much about the Hurcules, but seemed pretty stuck on the two brush setup making it junk, completely disregarding the motor being a much more efficient setup (like the Hilti).

To everyone who thinks I'm shilling for HF and that I just say that their tools are the best, I would like you to explain why, in my top drill driver list, I rated 5 other brands over the Herc and the Bauer didn't even make my top 10 list. In fact, neither did the Kobalt or Tacklife, both of which have set me free tools before? Also, why did I show my method, my tools used and then actually ASK OTHER PEOPLE TO REPEAT THIS EXPERIMENT TO PROVE ME WRONG??? Show me another reviewer who does this?
HF does not pay me, they have sent me tools for review. This is standard in the product review industry. And unless that would be enough for you to sell out your ethics then shut the hell up. The second you say that sort of crap all you are doing is screaming "I'm a fanboy for the product you just dissed". Grow up.

One year ago. And I do not know if anything was changed. I can tell you that none of the parts that he said were a concern are different on the equipment I tested from what he showed in his video. My clamshell did not have the fitment issues his did. I have three Herc tools and none of them show that issue. Not sure if they fixed the problem or if he just got a bad one.

I've owned both a Hercules and Dewalt, what I found was that the Hercules did better when new, the Dewalt batteries got better with time for a period, then over the course of two years started to get weaker. The Hercules took longer for the Li-Ion batteried to optimize but they were stronger when they did. The problem I found was that while the Dewalt batteries did die off after 2 years, they were still somewhat usable. The Hercules batteries died off all at once. They were good one day, crap the next. I also didn't feel that I got as much life out of the Hercules batteries per charge doing light tasks, like driving screws and other somewhat low load tasks. The Dewalt was much better at that sort of thing, while the Hercules was better at all out high torque work. I think it had something to do with the Hercules being able to get more power from its battery under demand.
Both of mine had a few durability tests, both had been dropped several times, the Dewalt took a fall from about 10ft, it landed on the front bottom of the battery. The battery cracked, but still worked and the drill was unharmed. The Hercules fell of the top of my truck's side box to the pavement, it landed pretty much the same way and the battery split apart, and the case of the drill broke above the battery where it flexed the most. I melted it back together and reinforced it with some epoxy inside and its been fine but the battery is relying on duct tape to stay together these days. The chuck on the HF has held up better, the chuck on the Dewalt is almost frozen and is hard to tighten and loosen already.
My biggest gripe with the Dewalt is that the batteries are shot and they cost too much to be worth replacing. I get the impression that the cost of their batteries is part of a planned obsolescence built into their whole game.
The HF battery needed to be replaced too but I could have gotten a pair of them for less than the cost of one Dewalt battery,
(I'm not even taking into consideration that the Dewalt came with two batteries and the HF only one).
I think Dewalt took more into consideration when they made the case out of the more flexible plastic, while its softer or more flexible, it is more durable if it takes a big fall, but alot of that has to do with how and where it falls.
These both have issues, they both have some good points, the real test will be how well they hold up over time and if HF continues to support these first models say four or five years from now.
I do feel that Dewalt has gone downhill in quality since the days of their first yellow tools back in the late 80's when they were still called B&D Professional. I still have various older Dewalt and B&D tools that still work fine and parts and batteries can still be had. I somehow doubt that we will be able to buy replacement batteries for these HF drills in say 30 or so years.

a Harbour freight rep once told me they chose to do the tools ala carte in order to be able to price them as low as they could. Usually Milwakee Dewalt, etc will sell a "Kit" at a loss to them to pull you into the eco system so you can then buy their more expensive tools so you can use the batteries you already have with them.

That's common industry marketing for cordless lines. Once they have some pieces in a kit it's an easy next step to buy more now you've got some batteries and charger. If they aren't junk people will by other tools in the line. That's how I got all the Ryobi stuff.

I retired as an industrial engineer charged with avionics support, from Boeing, some 20 years ago, after an 18-year stint with them. Most of my time, was spent at, or with the vendors who manufactured the various systems and/or devices.
With that said, just about every custom component was tested using a process which began with "the design of experiments" phase; an optical comparator analysis, before, during, after, and 'again after' comparator analysis phase. The numbers for all of the sub-assemblies, and their components were compared, and if within expected norms, the go-ahead was given for a trial production run, during which a butt-load of documentation, including "acceptable build procedures which avoid tribal knowledge, at any cost", were also implemented, tested again, and approved (if worthy).
While NOT defending AvE, and I really do agree with your teardown concept, and operation, prior to the inception of the trial analysis, AvE, does do a "sub assembly + electronic/electrical durability analysis, which appears to be effective, and fairly thorough', given the fact that his "can isn't planted somewhere within a million-dollar analytical laboratory'. Does there need to be a 'before, and after analysis??, you bet!, but my guess is, that economics, and the ability to gain a fairly acceptable analytical result is his goal.
Yours, is a 'functional analysis' which yields an "at this moment analytical result"; and that has merit. Very often, AvE's analyses attempt to determine "the longevity quotient", through "semi-destructive testing". That, too, has merit. Combine both, and receive a pretty good prognostication of how long it will remain on the shop wall, and its most probable effective usage.

I totally agree with you and as I said he is usually accurate, or at least accurate enough. But in this video, he drops the ball repeatedly. Calls Samsung cells generics. Complains about high-end MOSFETs without doing research on them (many people have called him out on this). Says that a Chinese made tool is using an overseas switch. Really? What does the Dewalt use? In fact, they are using an even lesser brand, also overseas switch. His comment on brushes is incorrect. You don't put on 4 brushes unless your motor design needs 4. It's work around design as adding more switches to push more current is a cost saving over a measure. It allows to you use cheaper parts on the motor and to brute force power at the cost of efficiency. As my testing showed pretty clearly.
I was the COO for a tech firm in Silicon Valley for the last 20 years and oversaw product development on both the software and hardware sides so I'm very familiar with product testing and evaluation. I'm sorry but when an engineer tells me "Oh that doesn't work" when I know other people are making it work I say "Fine, show me why". AvE does not do the way, he just states a fact and the problem comes about when he can't admit that he isn't as savvy in a field as he thinks he is. He showed a significant lack of knowledge when it came to the magnets and yoke design. Sadly that if a fairly typical affliction in these fields. Alph Tech syndrome. When someone can't admit what they don't know.

+Red Beard and The Den of Tools, many thanks for your reply. As an admitted "Analog Dinosaur, in a digital era", I've been nothing but impressed with the 'flood of change, with regard to everything electro-mechanical, brought on by rare earth magnetics. Small world declaration, I worked within the US Route 202 Aerospace Corridor; declared "The Silicon Valley of the East", during Reagan's 1984 visit.
I'm old enough to have been part of the drive towards Surface Mount Technology, and scarily remember the country's "scared s**tless" reaction to Jason Robards' "The Day After"; we immediately started to care about H.I.R.F., and recall the animosity of those who built backplane assemblies, after being nicknamed "The Ferrite Fools".
Finally, I can sympathize with your analysis of the makeup of the engineering mind. I've seen some doozies! Software engineers, many of whom were independent contractors, seldom stayed with a project more than six months. MCDU's alone, contained 'super massive amounts of code'; and the verification seemed to never end.
My daughter, at age three, while visiting my cubicle (on the way to a pediatrician's appointment, with the 'then' wife), literally made an a** out of Boeing's then big cheese, Phil Condit, who made the mistake of communicating in small-talk niceties, by asking her if she liked my office. Her reply, "it's okay, and you, sir"??? His reply, oh, it's wonderful here.
She concluded by stating "you must be lying, because nobody likes it here". Point/counterpoint, TKO, the winner, my 3 year old. Mr. Condit asked if she was available to travel to their Emirates negotiations. The next day, a courier delivered a DHL "Immediate Service" envelope, addressed to her, containing a $500.00 Toys-R-us gift card, and a PA-529 $2,000 Educational Savings Deposit confirmation. She also received an 'employee of significance' award.
A steadfast principle at Boeing, "only keep software engineers until they drool", was deeply ensconced within truth. I admire the interactions which you have with your family, for that is the true meaning of life.

"These are new, very expensive, compared to the MOSFETs used in the DW. They are extremely low heat by comparison and are being used EXACTLY as they are designed to be used. "
Do you have their datasheets? Also one note about the test - I'd like to see the current during the test. During full load I'd expect the MOSFETs not to switch on/off, so the only heat is I*I*Rdson. If the current is not high enough (low torque of the pump) - they will be able to dissipate the heat. High torque would require more current and hence more heat dissipation required. On top of that battery cells might be more effective at lower current, instead of being able to delivery higher max. currents. Don't get me wrong Samsung cells are fine but the test is far from conclusive in my opinion.

Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I am an older guy that has many physical problems, and can not work like I used to. Because of this I buy lesser power tools than I used to. What do I need a drill/driver that lasts all day on one charge when I only last an hour and then need a nap. Do I want the the best tool made; you bet, but I can’t afore it on a fixed income and really don’t need it. (Like need has much to do with it) after a bit of research the Hercules seemed like it might be like the professional Black and Decker line I bought years ago right before they purchased the Dewalt name as I read about it in triad mags. I have some tools that took the same parts, but are dark gray and say “Black and Decker Professional”, and friends would laugh at me for spending half the price that they spent for yellow paint. I was a bit put off the Hercules brand after watching the video you talk about. I thought the fella doing the video had a lot more knowledge than I, and I have learned that kind on bragging and his fowl mouth usually denotes someone not to be trusted. I should have trusted my hunches, but after your excellent video taking the tool apart and explaining things not just making some snide comments, I believe I will be in the market for that drill driver the next trip to HF. Thanks again, and thanks for keeping your channel clean and entertaining.

I also started buying the impact sockets and air tool impact drivers along with torque wrench and all size and drive size socket tools. You cannot beat them. I will never spend big bucks on hand tools as long as HF is around. Love me HF. Keep up the great videos Bear!

I feel that with the Hercules that the biggest problem one may come across is more so with the battery than the drill. Companies put more time and energy and money into the design and build of the drill and the battery being an afterthought.
As batteries age they get weaker with time and you don't want to be throwing a butt ton of money having to replace batteries.

Honestly, I feel the batteries are the least of your worries. Samsung cells, good frames and spot welds, and that heatsink! And the price for these batteries is the best you are going to find. Did you see my other video? Per mAh, no one sells their batteries cheaper than the Herc brand and most of those are not using the Samsung cells. BTW, I do quite a bit with that sort of battery and the Samsung is the top rated brand to buy, no question about it.

I don't know the specific P/N for those MOSFETs on the HF, but a carefully chosen MOSFET can have a very low ON (RDS(on)) resistance which means that if switch on saturated, it should not produce much heat, hence no real need for a heatsink. Remember the speed control is pulse width modulation. The wider the ON pulses within a given period the more power it applies. The wider the OFF pulses, the less power. When you hear that whining sound when applying low power that is the PWM signal.

Hey Bear, thanks for the review and tear down. Definitely interesting seeing the difference in performance and build quality. There will always be people who cast doubt on a review without reason or who are flat out wrong, so don’t let them get to you too much. Good for you for having a strong opinion on something and presenting the facts on why you feel that way. This Herc line is in need of more in-depth reviews like yours.
I have 7 dewalt 20v power tools and 5 batteries and really like them. When talking about tools I think a lot of people get stuck in a mindset and can’t see beyond it, like how some may say “HF is all junk!” Or DeWalt is the best!” It’s OK to admit your favorite brand lacks in a certain area, or that a brand you dislike is better than what you own. When HF puts out a product line that is better than the king of the hill (DeWalt) I think it’s a GOOD thing for EVERYONE. People get another quality tool option in their area, and it lights a fire under the butts of the legacy brands to up their product line. I’m happy to see HF making a big move into this market just like I’m happy to see Craftsman being revived. I think most people would agree with me on the Craftsman end, but for some reason, people just like to talk bad about HF even when it’s undeserving.

Many years ago I met a tool rep in a store catering to wood working professionals. He said that the tool business like a no holes barred endless death match. To remain alive one has to increase performance and often lower price to stay alive. The best tool one year can be a has been if it looses the performance edge or looses on price. Not a business where one can just keep doing the same thing and remain alive.

I think the point is that almost all of the 'name brand' companies make their tools in China, so there isn't anything secret about how they are made anymore. And most of these companies are 'value engineering' their power tools to be just barely good enough. That gives HF an opening, and they seem to be taking it. I have their 12in miter saw, and it looks and feels at least as good to me as any of the Dewalts I've ever used. And I got it for $300 including a 2-year warranty!
I'm hoping HF continues to move into this market, since I feel that the brands I used to trust have been letting me down, and they need some competition to make them get back to making good tools instead of just good enough. HF's Doyle hand tools are good - better than my old Craftsman tools from when Sears was still the big retailer - and while I'd say my Knipex pliers are better, they also cost a LOT more.

The elephant in the room(cave?) is that even if Hercules were amazing (And that's a big IF) the fact remains that they have a very limted offering of tools. Having the availability of tools you need or want when committing to a battery platform is of paramount importance when selecting a cordless tool brand. I was never a DeWilt fan-boy, but needing a new system to replace my ancient Crapsman tools, I went with DeWilt, as they offered pro-grade tools with a huge selection, at a decent price (But now that Stanley owns DeWalt, I'm sure they'll screw it up before long!).

I guess some items with multiple item #s come from different factories. Like Harbor freight puts it up for bid each year to see who will give the best price to mfg. I know hf is pretty much a factory direct to the store place but didn't know if the factories design the stuff and own the trademarks and patents and sell to hf. Or if hf designs and owns everything and contracts the factories to build the tools. Or a mix depending on the brand name.

Hercules is an HF house brand. As far as I know, all products sold at HF are house brands. China is not big on patents but I can tell you that other tools at HF, like the drill master brands, are designed by the factory and then just rebranded for HF. This is called white boxing or Private Labeling. I do know that the new prosumer lines were developed in-house at HF at their US offices. They literally decided who was the top maker in each market and then hired away people from those teams. As I said, when you have enough cash you can literally just hire talent.

The position was for developing professional (probably actually prosumer tools we are seeing now) grade tools and I was told it wouldn't be a design position but rather bringing in overseas company's products and putting them through an appropriate testing program which whomever was in this position would create. Basically setting the performance the tool would have to meet and teaching their overseas suppliers how to meet it. I was told there wasn't any US based design work. Now the test programs and demanding improvements and saying what those are is part of the development process but that's what HF does in CA, not actually designing the product. This Harbor Freight video about the tool quality issue reminds me of when H. Ross Perot was for a short time back in the 90's, on the General Motors board of directors.
At that time he recognized just how bad the product quality was at GM. He said the company should focus on making things better one step at a time and not through some kind of huge unmanageable program that would only fail. He was on the board for a short time and left but history shows that GM continued in its old ways and faltered eventually into bankruptcy.
It appears to me that Harbor Freight is taking Mr. Perot's advice and improving its products one at a time to become on par with the quality of the most popular mainstream tool products and even in some cases, exceeding them. Also, the Harbor Freight store concept is a real winner for many of the reasons Mr. Bear has pointed out in his other videos. I have one 10 miles away from me and my area is also serviced by a Lowes and Home Depot. I have been shopping Harbor Freight more frequently and really like visiting their store and finding what I need. I am developing confidence in their products built by my own experience with them, as it should be.

Fair enough test.. And I will agree. in this comparison.. The HF drill wins.. BUT... The Dewalt you are pinning it against. Is the absolute bottom go in their drill line up. So.. Yes.. And only slightly better?? You're welcome to you own opinion. But from my experience(And it's pretty extensive) Harbor Freight tools have very poor longevity. I've owned a few in my day.ive also ended up returning several because they stopped working. look.. If you're happy with buying Harbor Freight tools.. Great! I prefer to spend money on tools manufactured by companies that are willing to stand behind their products for more than 90 days... That warranty says all I need to know about the quality of their tools.

@@johnhandcock3242 At the end of AvE's video the reasons he gave for not recommending the Hercules drill had nothing to do with how the drill did in his torture tests. He compared Hercules's 90 day warranty to DeWalt's 1 year. He pointed out that the Hercules comes with a useless blow mold case that a lot of people (myself included) throw away as soon as the warranty expires because they are too big and cumbersome, compared to the canvas tool bag that came with the DeWalt that you can very easily add other tools or supplies to. I know people who throw away those blow mold cases as soon as they open the package, regardless of brand. He also said that by the time you buy a second battery for the Hercules, you are just about 10 Canadian dollars cheaper than the DeWalt, which comes with 2 batteries. He admits to not liking DeWalt at all in many of his videos. Just on warranty alone, the few extra dollars makes a big difference, add in HF's false advertising, and at least for me, it's a slam dunk.

      @PaganWizard 6 років тому +2

If you are unaware of what I mean by HF's false advertising...........in HF's flyer, they compare the Hercules to the DeWalt. Look on the back of the cardboard box on the Hercules, where they compare this drill to "the competition" and put an asteric there as well. Then look at the bottom of that same box and you will see that by "the competition", Hercules is referring to a different model Hercules drill. Hercules is not responsible for HF's advertising practices, but when the sole retailer of a product is false advertising that product, and they do nothing about it............that speaks more than just volumes to me.

I vaguely remember AVE's video on these two drills. From what I remember, the factor that gave the win to dewalt was that it came with two batts instead of one and if you bought a second battery for the herc, you were paying the same amount of money. Also, dewalt makes a ton of other tools that work with those batteries so until herc makes a bunch of other tools to go with those batteries, most people will probably prefer the dewalt.
As far as quality goes, let's face it, these tools are starting become copies of each other. I don't think there is much of a difference between a lot of these things anymore. Herc's best potential customer are dudes who never owned drills n stuff before.

Both tests were reasonable with different results. AvE has a much bigger axe to grind with HF for their deceptive advertising practices than he does with some of the tools they sell. Now sure, we could go further into the material qualities of Polycarbonate (or particularly Dewalt’s blend) and compare it to the material qualities, but suffice to say that saying “it’s better because it has glass fibre” isn’t an answer. Only issue I have with this test is yeah it’s a great simple test but it puts almost no strain on the tool. When you drill holes or run screws in (which is what the tool is designed for, not pumping water) it puts way more load on the tool and therefore more heat. Which is where you want the extra power of the four brushes, the bigger fan, the higher heat resistance magnets, the higher heat resistance plastic, etc. I think longevity is the most important thing when buying a tool and the herc/harbor freight just hasn’t proved itself like other brands have.

I hope this video isn't implying because HFs top line drill beat Dewalts lowest line drill that by some way this is a reflection on either companies quality because I can tell you HF has alot to be ashamed about in the quality category... I am a pro in the trades and I've bought HF and I've bought top line dewalts/milwaukee ect.. I can honestly say anything that takes a power cord or battery from HF is absolute trash(exclude earthquake from that, one exception for some odd reason), I can say this because like you said; I have real world have tested both. HF has left me stranded and hung up on more jobs because of their junk tools I was relying on to complete a job (that was bid on a flat rate) either just completely stopped working, or have actually burnt up& caught fire. Either situation has cost me money being out a tool/having to rebuy it, causing me to go over budget on small jobs and waste my time.
I have slowly replaced every tool I ever bought from HF, and yes I have replaced most all with DeWalt and have yet to be let down or worry about a tool black and yellow makes stop working on me mid-job.. If one did I wouldn't worry too much since the warranty isn't once I leave the store I'm screwed basically-they stand by the product a lot more than HF. There is a reason everyone overpays for DeWalt every day in the box stores, and it's not because of the fancy boxes, it's because they are a trusted reliable brand not self appointed by marketing but earned that reputation from people in the trades over many years. Something HF has squandered¬ even respected since everyone that's ever shopped there can give you a story of their "quality tools" hitting the garbage can.
This is way too long of a post so here is my main point to make 1) HF is for one time projects-the tools they sell are meant to be disposable for the weekend warrior DIY handyman; ex: someone doing trim work or flooring in their primary residence 2) DeWalt are professional tools you own a lifetime and only need replaced out of want, not necessity most of the time-and their tools actually have a resell value even used. They both have their place in this economy and will both deliver equal final products based on the user, but tools are a financial decision and you have to ask yourself where your money is better spent.

To answer your question, no I did not do those tests for two reasons. A. Other people have done them and the Herc wins in all of them. (by a lot). B. Those tests are not controlled. Issues raised are: Was one piece of wood softer, were the drill bits as sharp. Did you push harder on one and not on the other. If you want to prove a fact you need to use a test that has as few variables as possible. Water is often used as a baseline in scientific testing as water alway is... well water. It is consistent and unchanging.
As to the second part. I did not want to show all the water tests but you know damn well that if I didn't people would have accused me of faking it. And since it's youtube you can skip it if you want to the second part where I do indeed actually take the tools apart. That fact that you said that "at least ave" did this makes me think you commented without watching the whole video. But that would be silly right?
I think you missed the science involved. This does not test the battery so much that it tests the motor. It's the efficiency of the motor and how it uses that power from the battery that is being tested. It's like if you have two cars with 20 gallon tanks. But one car gets 20mpg and the other gets 40mpg.
And no, the B&D would not be able to do this test. I tried it with the Craftsman and it failed to even pump water.

So I own Matco, Milwaukee and Bauer tools and I gotta say, the Bauer stuff has really held its own for 2+ years in the professional automotive environment. The Bauer impact driver was one of my first power tools purchase in harbor freight and albeit not the strongest, it gotten the job done for me. With that my trust in harbor freight tools grew and I now use their hand tools as well. Really pleased with their stuff and IMO I'd rather head to the harbor freight down the road than wait for the tool truck to come next week.

    BTW
How does your water pumping test have anything to do with the actual use of these drills?
The actual torque and current drain while drilling a hole is much higher than pumping water up 1ft
You varied your test procedure substantially between the HF trial and the Dewalt. The discharge rest between cycles will substantially favor the HF
The HF drill motor likely is lower powered, will generate substantially less driving torque and so run longer on batteries of similar capacity.

    • @denoftools
      @denoftools  4 роки тому

The test, as stated in the video, was to test the efficiency of the motor and battery as per AvE's claim. And there was no deviation in the testing methods between the drills. As to the rest of your comments, that is just assumptions, base on zero knowledge and shows a clear bias. Do some searching around youtube. The Herc has repeated beat the DW in power. Hell in just my teardown you can clearly see that the Herc motor is a better-built motor that will produce more power and run longer. While the XR line of tools from DW are excellent tools the brushed line is junk that is being sold to people who see black and yellow and think it's all the same thing.

      Red,
The test procedure changed. For the herc, you pumped from one tank to the other. Stopped. Swapped tanks and then pumped again.
For the Dewalt, you pumped, then flipped the drill direction snd then pumped again. The pause was 1 or two seconds.
Im a 40 year accomplished Design Engineer and R&D Executive. I know a good deal more here than you on this subject.
You could not even structure a proper test. It at bedt tested motor efficiency at loads that are irrelevant, so it proved nothing.
Your blather about design details etc tells me you have no idea what you are talking about.

When I tested the smaller battery on both drills I swapped the jugs. when I tested the larger battery on both drills I just flipped the drill into reverse as you were commenting about. what you missed if I did the same thing with Hercules when it was running the larger capacity battery. Good job, but AvE probably won’t even acknowledge this video. I’ve seen both videos the only things on his that stood out was the heat sink for the circuit board. It to me looks like an after thought on HF part and could have been designed better.

Sorry, I need this comparison done with Ridgid included in the lineup and then a follow-up 4-5 years later. Oh wait the only one that is going to be repaired or replace 100% battery included is Ridgid. If Harbor Freight was serious about this lineup they would switch to a minimum 2-3yr full warranty or even a complete lifetime warranty like Ridgid and brushless technology. Unless you have zero battery power tools it doesn’t make sense to buy into the Harbor Freight line and even in that situation I would recommend Ryobi for variety of tools, price, longevity, and use-ability.

HF sells their warranties ala cart. Imagine if other tools companies did that? And did you see my top ten drill drivers list? I think you might agree with my results.

    • @ClientGraphics
      @ClientGraphics 6 років тому

Already saw your top 10 and didn’t really agree with it, but good points and all around informative nonetheless. Harbor Freights practice of selling a warranty separate is a policy that I feel most people don't appreciate myself included. If it's as good as any other brand(s), including DeWalt, it should last more than 90 days. If it's designed to be better and last at least 2 years, then why should I have to pay an extra $20-$30 incase it's not as good as claimed to be. If its compared to Dewalt then compare it and bundle all the same 1 to 1 and be done.
Still the DeWalt warranty beats it with an additional year warranty over what HF is willing to SELL you and Ridgid just blows them all out of the water with a full lifetime warranty and I personally have both.
So the normal HF price of $110, plus $25ish for 2 years of warranty, plus $30 for a second battery puts you around $165. You save $15-35 and have a tool with a year less warranty and total time on market of less than 2 years. It's going to be a very tough sell to professionals and pro-consumers.
The only way to close this sale to people already bought into other lines is a 2 or 3 year warranty included at the current selling prices. If they could have pulled off having interchangeable working batteries with say Dewalt that would have been a game changer end of story and people would have bought for that reason alone!

@@ClientGraphics I think what Mr Bear was getting at is that other tool companies charge the extra for the warranty like hf does but don't give you an opt out option like hf. $20 or so of the price tag on those big name brands are to pay warranty costs whether you want the warranty or not. Hf sells without the additional warranty price as a default and gives you the option to opt in or walk away with extra $20 or so in your pocket. It be like buying a dewalt at Lowe's and cashiers says for a $20 discount in price we can sell this as is with a voided warranty and no returns. The others have it tacked on by default and hf leaves it off by default.

I'd love car and driver to test that same vehicle after 150k. I want longevity. aVe tests longevity also. He goes through the circuit boards and switches and motors and explains why a certain tool is good or not. He raved about the stubby earthquake pneumatic impact wrench. Hes not brand loyal. He tells it as he sees it. You on the other hand are being paid by harbor freight even if only in free tools. I generally respect your opinion but not this time. As a home gamer, I want a tool that will last 20+ years. I want the upgradeability. I want a huge line up of tools that fit the same battery platform. I want a proven tool. Hercules hasn't been around long enough and I can not justify spending the exact same amount of money on that as I would a Milwaukee brushed or dewalt brushless. And dont get me wrong. No one can sit on a bench and tell you to matter of factly how long a tool will last. Anyone who claims to is lying to you. I've been in product development for over 20 years and I can tell you that is the one single indisputable fact. Even product testing is a guess compared to the real world. And I said quite clearly that I think this particular video was outside the norm for him. But as you said he goes through each and every component and explains them. But in his video on this tool, he either lied or was just flat wrong. The MOSFETs, the Magnets, the Yoke, the Brushes and yes, especially the batteries. Hell, he flat out claimed they were generic cells and not Samsungs. This was not an opinion piece, these are facts that you can go out and look up for yourself. And if you think I'm being paid? How much do you think he made on that video? Do you think it would have nearly 2 Million views if he wasn't absolutely slamming this drill at every turn? And he is brand loyal. Have you ever heard him say a single bad thing about Hilti? Hell, he totally blew a MOSFET on a Milwaukee and never said BOO about it. Yes, he has said good things about HF brands before and I'm not saying he is always wrong. I'm talking about one specif incident.
As to the running from the same tank. I thought about it but then someone would say, "Well the ____ drill was pumping the water faster that is why the battery didn't' last as long time wise". The test was showing how efficient the motor of each drill was and how much "work" you could get from each battery.

But that is a new Hercules drill and model, the dewalt shown is very out dated. The new dewalt dcd996 is one the be reckoned with. I really love Milwaukee's 5yr warranty and can vouch that they try their best to keep you satisfied! I really like dewalt tools but they are the worst for standing behind there tools!
