I have had my two Milwaukee drills (corded) for over 10 years ... even went to an electrical outlet store to get twenty-five foot cords when I worked on remodeling my house (not many outlets) ... @@noclass2gun342 Haha, that's the reason why I switched from Milwaukee to DeWalt. I just kept having failures from Milwaukee. My 3/4 DeWalt smoked up the other day but it's nearly 3 years old & has been abused. Still lasted longer than both my 1/2 & 3/4 Milwaukee though
@@danielwatson1815 I agree. Dewalt is by no means perfect. But neither is milwaukee. I heard milwaukee triggers always gets fucked up. Dewalt is cheaper in price aswell.
Top setting location on the DeWalt is opposite from the top setting location on the Milwaukee. If both drivers are pointing at the camera, the high setting on the Milwaukee will be one slot left of the far-right (setting 3 of 4; 4 of 4 is a special setting to help prevent stripping screws in hard materials); on the DeWalt, high setting will be the dial turned all the way to the left (setting 3 of 3.) This has been the case with DeWalt for a while. During the testing, one can easily see the Milwaukee on that 3 of 4 setting due to the visibility of the light setting. The DeWalt setting is more difficult to see (black switch on a black field), but it can be seen in the 3 of 3 position (all the way to the left when driver is pointing toward the camera) at these timestamps during the testing: 8:15 8:45 9:07 9:40 9:43 9:52 11:52 14:52 18:03

A circular light, or circular array, helps you drill perpendicular to the surface. It becomes an oval if you don´t. One can even use different focal points of the LED´s to indicate the depth of the hole whilst drilling. In the $300+ range, I´d expect 4 lasers to do this more accurate and display the depth on the wall ;)
As a person who worked on the set of a highschool production of into the woods, i really like the dewalt drill, i worked for 6 hours straight and never had to change the battery, the 3 lights is nice but one light would work fine
Depends on how often you were using the impact what you were using it on and what size I've gone through a 4 amp hr batteries in under in hour building stairs with pressure treated wood
See how the 4 Inch lag and 10 inch lag look exactly the same in size? That’s what these women need to learn. It ain’t the size of the screw it’s the impacts per second.

I'm an electrician I dont use impacts at all. I dont get what people need impacts for when your just putting screws in studs. The only thing you might actually need an impact for is putting the screws in panel boxes.
I've had the experience of using a full contingent of Milwaukee cordless brushless tools (2018 models) and the same DeWalt tools for daily use as part of my job. Any brand has to be judged by all of the tools as a whole as you're committing to a battery platform. As of two years ago, DeWalt had a better impact driver, hammer drill, jigsaw, circular saw, reciprocating multi-tool, and radio. Based on this video, I'd say Milwaukee might have pulled ahead of DeWalt on impact drivers, but as a whole, I've been very disappointed with the head to head match ups as of two years ago.
If you think about it the DeWalt might have a better battery life but that extra time is used to drive the same amount of fasteners as the Milwaukee because the DeWalt is slower.
The Longest lasted tools made...I've had same pair of Dewalt & outlasts most other guys drills....do the Drop test with Dewalt for 10 years & it'll still run
All drills are good, some better than others for certain trades, most plumbers would rather have the Milwaukee fuels since they can get wet to an extent and still run like a charm. That’s what I use. And I had a couple buddies try dewalt and they barely lasted 6 months in plumbing
@@hshcjekxh2995 it all comes down to what drill has been better for you all brands have shitty batches of drills but once you find a good one it will last you for years
I have both Milwaukee and Dewalt at home and In my experience, the Milwaukee seems to have a little more power than the Dewalt. For example, I was removing the seats from my truck and started with the Dewalt and it wasn't having it, wasn'tmoving the bolt at all. Switched to the Milwaukee and came right out.
If you used the same drill bit for both of the wood tests, you could try it with a new drill bit each time. The bit might have been dull or chipped making it go slower
I have the same Milwaukee gen3 impact and my brother has the same DeWalt XR impact, both have their pros and cons. Both are basically evenly matched when doing deck screws and spaxs, I like the grip better on the DeWalt and my bro likes the feel of my Milwaukee, both have been used and abused and both still work like new. Also, I never came across the collet issue on the Gen 3.
I have had more dewalt and master craft drill and impact handles snap or fracture from pressing too hard or even a 2ft drop as where with my milwaukees I have dropped them from 10+ft in -20 workin gon big logging trucks and equipment and have yet to have the handle/ grip break. also milwaukee batteries tend to last better in colder temperatures than competeing brands from my experience not to mention longer battery health as they have fail safes to protect their batteries and impacts and drills from over heating, getting too low on charge ( as they are lipo batteries and running lipos dry is terrible for them) as well as protecting them from getting too cold. I have used many brands of tools and milwaukee is one that has never failed me yet as where many others have.
@@Jonah.the.moist.noodle i have had my dewalt for 6 years and it has spent days under water before and i still use it everyday. Also idk what in the heck you are doing to break the handles, that is just weird i have never even heard of a handle breaking on a dewalt or milwakee

if you looked at the specs between the two, i'd bet the milwaukee has more power, which we pretty clearly saw in the screw/bolt test, so its only natural for it to run out of battery first if its putting out more power. probably why the milwaukee comes with the larger battery than the dewalt.

I love the sound of the dewalt. It sounds mechanical. Kinda how some guys prefer the sound of American muscle vs a BMW exhaust note 😂
Usually his tests are pretty fair but on this one I think he definitely has a favorite I noticed this when he was talking about the different sounds of the drills 😂
Well yes, but countless people have proved the milwuakee better😂
I honestly feel like it's up to an opinion I've worked with both many times but to me dewalt feels a lot better but again just my opinion.
Can’t argue with the sound I mean your right he said he favors willfunkeee but did sound smoother and dewalt angers me with their odd lineups of power tools they almost seem to try trick you think you getting something you’re not they have premium premium brushed? And they all look similar but ones 10x better 3 different tiers of just xr’s Milwaukee straight up this brushed this brushless and premium fuel that what made me not go dewalt before i became professional as diy i only got dewalt but when i was ready spend real money on pro tools Milwaukee except that Sexyflexy grinder had go dewalt lol
@@Daniel-dg8hd if you like an impact that burns out in a week then sure lol
Not to mention it sure looked like he was starting the milwaukee the slightest bit earlier and stopping it a little later... This really requires a slow-mo camera and individual runs to be fair.. Also the screws were practically never the same height. But it was fun to watch haha
I work in carpentry and I must say I find dewalts are considerably more durable than Milwaukee and that battery life does make a difference
I have had my two Milwaukee drills (corded) for over 10 years ... even went to an electrical outlet store to get twenty-five foot cords when I worked on remodeling my house (not many outlets) ... I would NEVER dream of battery packs for any tool ... saw too many workers who kept asking to recharge or had to use many batteries to get the work done. Love my Milwaukee tools

And ill watch it all over again
Ahem it’s 25 minutes and 37 seconds my good sir
That's still less time on crotch shots than the movie Cuties
@@Treddian You watched through all of it LOLLLL?????

As long as the D Walt gets the job done and I get paid I'm happy
One thing I can add is that I bought the first gen Milwaukee impact driver when they first came out along with batteries. The batteries may have gotten a bit weaker over the years but I haven’t had to buy a replacement for either. I’ve had them for at least ten years or more.
I've caught many dewalt tools on fire or smoked like a chimney lol but still reliable as all heck lol
I've burnt up more dewalt cordless tools than I have harbor freight tools.
What the hell do y’all do to your tools good lord I’ve been running the same couple drills for like 6 years and they might look like hell but they still work like new
@@Whimpykids2 hard daily use. No more than I expect a professional quality tool to be able to endure. Hence why I switched to milwaukee.
Pretty sure he didn’t put the drills on the same setting. I think Dewalt was left in 1 and Milwaukee was on 3
Holy shit your right

Is nobody going to point out that the speed settings on the Milwaukee and the Dewalt are on different numbers?
Top setting location on the DeWalt is opposite from the top setting location on the Milwaukee. If both drivers are pointing at the camera, the high setting on the Milwaukee will be one slot left of the far-right (setting 3 of 4; 4 of 4 is a special setting to help prevent stripping screws in hard materials); on the DeWalt, high setting will be the dial turned all the way to the left (setting 3 of 3.) This has been the case with DeWalt for a while. During the testing, one can easily see the Milwaukee on that 3 of 4 setting due to the visibility of the light setting. The DeWalt setting is more difficult to see (black switch on a black field), but it can be seen in the 3 of 3 position (all the way to the left when driver is pointing toward the camera) at these timestamps during the testing:

8:45
9:07

You know that the Dewalt impact driver, is from 2015, right? It’s also about to be replaced.
That’s why they’re literally giving them away this holiday season. You can get it for free, if you buy a battery kit or tool kits priced at 200.00 or more from either Lowe’s or Home Depot.

In my company DeWalt is standard
I’m an electrician and prefer my dewalt. Has lasted 3 years longer than my Milwaukee ever did. She ain’t pretty, but she still works haha
Electrician here as well, Milwaukee is the way to go. The only trades I see regularly using dewalt are the carpenters.
I'm an electrician I dont use impacts at all. I dont get what people need impacts for when your just putting screws in studs. The only thing you might actually need an impact for is putting the screws in panel boxes.
Fuck yeah, up the sparkys
At 4:30 in the morning i'm testing drills.... DeWalt feeds the chickens and Milwaukee plows...
Amish paradise reference
Would have been nice to see the specs of both. May have explained the small differences.
I’d still rather use DeWalt. Have fun cleaning up the sawdust
Idk my dewalt impact outlasted 2 of my partners Milwaukee’s lmao and I use mine more.
The Longest lasted tools made...I've had same pair of Dewalt & outlasts most other guys drills....do the Drop test with Dewalt for 10 years & it'll still run

For example, I was removing the seats from my truck and started with the Dewalt and it wasn't having it, wasn'tmoving the bolt at all. Switched to the Milwaukee and came right out.
I’m a Milwaukee guy the desalt could have loosened it
Dewalt has a tension sensor. It changes speed as it gets tighter but Milwaukee seems to have no control and might rip through.
I feel like dressing as an Amish farmer while using electrically powered tools is probably a sin.
Keep in mind that he paid 503 dollars to make this video for us so why not like his video and its probably cost even more to do the tests
oh no, not $20 or less in screws and bits. Besides, the ad revenue is gonna make a lot more than it costed
If you used the same drill bit for both of the wood tests, you could try it with a new drill bit each time. The bit might have been dull or chipped making it go slower
He used new bits in each
I have the same Milwaukee gen3 impact and my brother has the same DeWalt XR impact, both have their pros and cons. Both are basically evenly matched when doing deck screws and spaxs, I like the grip better on the DeWalt and my bro likes the feel of my Milwaukee, both have been used and abused and both still work like new. Also, I never came across the collet issue on the Gen 3.
Exactly a DeWalt being 0.04 seconds slower then Milwaukee isn’t going to make your job any faster
Milwaukee is great, but I’ve never had one last as long as a dewalt

They have a single light, but a translucent ring around the driver head that diffuses the light to create 360 degrees of lighting on the fastener you're driving. It's actual genius, and I'm very surprised more tool manufacturers aren't doing this!
I have one question: How long did it take to charge both drills
About the same, I've got both and when I go to grab em off the charger they're both done. Just a little over an hour without a rapid charger.
Depends what charger you have, Im pretty sure the charger on the dewalt takes about an hour

You will see while looking at it from the way we are, “1” is on the right and “3” is on the left. Are you seeing anything different than that?
Usually you’d use a drill to drill holes and a driver to drive screws
True but the impact driver can be used to drill in a pinch
You old fashioned so and so.
if you looked at the specs between the two, i'd bet the milwaukee has more power, which we pretty clearly saw in the screw/bolt test, so its only natural for it to run out of battery first if its putting out more power. probably why the milwaukee comes with the larger battery than the dewalt.
It’s not about how fast you can drill 255 holes. It’s about how many (278) holes can you drill on a single battery. Go Dewalt!
Yeah he said 32 hole difference but 278-255=23
