Guys listen. YES!! I KNOW!!! Vincent's Death Penalty has a OHKO glitch. Anybody who's ever played this game knows that glitch. I specifically stated in the video, " it takes a long time to power this thing up." By the time you power that weapon up to that point, I could have Killed Emerald Weapon over 50 times. And it doesn't even work on Ruby weapon. Why is this so hard for you to understand??
Darkkefka hey, I'm replaying FF10 HD. I'm on the calm fields or whatever the fuck they're called. Where can I get steal for Kimahri? I need those lvl. 3 spheres.
Look at the sphere grid and find steal. I believe you should have Rikku by the time you hit the calm lands, so it should be easy to locate. Now farm with Kimahri until you can get him to the steal sphere and learn it. That's how the game works. You "level up" your characters and learn abilities by running them through the sphere grid
All is all it's a guessing game. Surely you will find characters more useful than others but another challenge is to turn a disadvantage into an advantage. Trying to win with something weaker tops peoples lists.

Nicholas Randall I like him cause he was different from all the others. Plus he actually becomes quite humanized when you realize he was only showboating and isn't as confident as he seems.
Although my wife will severely disagree, unlike other characters, Vivi basically sticks to one thing which is offense. In my own experience Vivi is only useful in "Challenges" ("Level 1 Challenge", "Excalibur II", etc..)
Fun Fact: In FFIV the After Years, a unused Blue Magic command was found in the game's code. Many fans think it was supposed to be for Harley, because of her statline and equips. Imagine if she really had Blue Magic!

Yeah sadly Vivi is not that useful even when you play level 1 or excalibur II challenge although he's useful when the game force you to use him. I actually try to use him on my level 1 playlist because people don't know how to use him, similar to Kimahri..
Kimahri can be taught to be pretty much any kind of fighter from the start because he has access to pretty much everyone else's sections of the grid, but because he starts going there later than people their own sections, he'll probably lag behind them. The thing is that his base Magic is higher than Lulu's, so he works wonderfully as a mage. I taught him black magic, used Black Magic Spheres to teach him more powerful spells that Lulu had already learned and managed to teach him Doublecast before Lulu or Yuna, so he actually turned out to be a complete game breaker throughout the story. Especially after Bikanel because he could hit hard with his spells and also use Al Bhed Potions to heal. Well, that and the fact that he could be taught Steal and Use early on, as you mentioned. Although once you get the airship and start doing optional stuff, yes, he becomes pretty much useless and his Overdrives do suck. Except Nova, if you get it before you can reach 99,999 with the others' Overdrives.
I always thought it was apparent (at least to myself it was) that he was a jack of all trades, but a master of none type of character. At least until you train him up to be a master of what ever you wanted. He was always in my main team. Kimarhi, Auron, and Tidus where my "A" team. ^_^
I just stuck evade & counter on Auron and had him in permanent cover, he was my main sweeper until omega dungeon. and not sure if it was a glitch, everytime he went to cover an ally he dodged it which triggered his evade & counter, so not only was he hitting hard very quickly from cover counter combo he was also dodging everything and taking no damage
Auron and Lulu are too slow to use I once switched Auron in to use the overdrive with all the status effects on the final boss but he was so slow that I wasn't able to switch him out before being killed

It was entirely based on his experience with the character and the game. Anyone that make Top 10 video always make it with their own personal preference, except some of WatchMojo's Top 10. There are some characters that he likes in the series, but he had to put them on this list because they are useless (to him).
The saddest thing about Kimahri is that his setup depends on the player’s choice. The only thing that belongs to him specifically is Lancet and its pretty useful in the early stages as you can get a lot of useful overdrives like Stone Breath and Bad Breath. But when Rikku joins the party he pretty much becomes useless. The best way to use him is as a thief to get the sphere grids when he fights Biran and Yenke.
In FF7 8 9, main protagonist is forced to be in party, imagine, squall dont have Lion heart, Cloud dont have Omnislash. Now you stuck with sucky character.
Nobody’s calling him a bad character, but being a great character doesn’t necessarily mean being useful in battle. I do have to disagree with him being the most useless character in 9 as Amarant is undeniably far worse than anyone else.
Lol, I did the exact same thing. You’re probably talking about the materia keeper (I think that’s its name), the first boss you fight after the earliest point you can get Vincent in the party. It really is stupid that the game actively discourages you from using your brand new character right away with that boss.
On the topic of most useless characters, how about a "Top 10 Useless Summons"? That should be fun Can already think of one: Carbuncle in FF8 (reflect is such a useless status in that game, there's pretty much no reason to EVER use it)
I don't know, man. I thought the same thing the first time I played the game. I thought Lulu was great as well. Over the years, I've realized it is the opposite. Lulu is useful for a portion of the game, but her reliance on offensive magic makes her weaker. Rikku or Yuna can get her key spells with other spheres and then do other great things. You could argue that she could do the same with their spells, but she is much slower than both of them. Now, Kimahri's limit is junky compared to most others in the game. However, he starts very close to Titus on the sphere grid. I don't think many people would contest that Titus is the best in the game, whether you're talking the normal game or going to max out your characters. His speed and strength are essentially equal to Titus. Kimahri can quickly get in Titus' path and get everything he gets, just about 10 levels behind. So, double delay attack can make it so many early bosses never even get a turn, double haste + quick attack later in the game means you get about 20 turns before the enemy gets one. It's nuts. If you're going to max your characters, Kimahri loses it over time since anyone else gets the same benefits and his limit weighs him down. Either way, he's not even close to the worst guy in the game, and even further from the top 10 worst FF characters.
In The After Years, Edward's actually an awesome party member, beating out even the best of the games' White Mage's as a support. He can Salve items like Dry Ethers to restore the MP of every party member for price of one Dry Ether, and items like Phoenix Down can work the same way. Not to mention Bardsong, which has a chance of casting Shell and Protect on all party members at higher levels, and Hastemarch which casts Haste on all party members, both of which requiring no MP. He's no longer forced to hide when his HP is low, making him very handy for the many hard-hitting superbosses. If everyone else gets KO'd in one attack, Edward can come back, and thanks to his great speed he can Salve Phoenix Downs then some X-Potions for the whole party. Not to mention that his passive Item Lore ability doubles the power of items. He's not broken like he can get in the original game, but he's still easily one the best characters in the game, and I use him gladly over any White Mage. Again, just in The After Years.
Yeah, in After Years he's a complete badass. While the rest of the game callously recycles plot beats from the original game and wastes a ton of your time doing so, for me it was totally worth it to see Edward's growth. His and Kain's arcs in that game were the two things that felt truly new. And that scene where he stood up to Kain's dark half, holy shit. Balls of steel.
I had a feeling Cait sith would be high up there. I have only discovered one use for Cait sith. his dice limit break actually is useful for speedrunning but that's it. I do indeed plan on speedrunning that game the next time I stream so you will see what I mean
You can actually manipulate his second Limit, once you get how to do that he is actually OP and can One-Shot everything in the game, so personnaly I think he is more like Kweena and Rikku a very strong character which is very underrated, tough like DK with Kweena I don't use Cait Sith because I don't like him at all.
JOC217 supposedly, there is a set up to allow Cait's slots to always destroy the enemy (it involves auto-reviving after death joker). Also, it got better in FFRK, where its a dancer and bard.
What's funny is that if there was no damage cap, Kimahri would be the most consistent person to deal tons of damage (Max Magic Nova overdrive and crit deals near 5 mil.)
Darkkefka Yeah. Kimahri just got the short stick. His Celestial Weapon didn't save him from being always shafted, either. At least he's incredibly helpful early game, especially in NSG, with the second highest HP and having Piercing.
Not gonna lie, honestly thought I'd find Penelo from XII on here, literally only ever used her when I was forced to. Honestly had no idea what she was even there for. As for Vivi, just whhyyyy? I'd personally swap Vivi from your list with Amarant, another FF Character I never ever, ever used. :P
Finally someone said what I have been saying about Vincent for years. He is worthless. Mostly due to his limit break. Yes cait sith is worthless but he was a joke character to begin with. So little expectation from him. But Vincent was portrayed as a bad ass. And he sucked. I played with cait sith I'd I wanted a challenge in the game.
Kimahri is in the very fucking middle of the sphere, he can go down any other characters level path at the very start, you want to have the power of Auron before you get to Luca, send Kimarhi down his path, want a second OP healer/spellcaster, have him follow Yuna, fighting support? follow Tidus, he's THE MOST VERSATILE CHARACTER PERIOD!
The fact he was chilling by an ultima spell made me grind him at level 1 and just get a bunch of locks before I invested in him. I ran lulu towards double cast, and holy, and then I used the friend sphere on them to move them around, then warped back. It's safe to say that he was my pride and joy. He mopped everything with OP spells, and I'm happy they let people use a little know how vs luck.
+LucidCharade except in FFX, the so called "red mage syndrome" (whatever the fuck that is) isn't really an issue because you can get all skills and abilities, theoretically you can run every single character through the entire level sphere and get every single ability and stat power up. it's not like a red mage that would only get select spells and abilities from black and white mages, you can literally get the exact same shit as anyone else
honestly kimahri is not that bad if you train him up properly. like taking him on routes of Auron or wakka on grid can make him cause some pretty damn damage to fiends.
On one hand, I want to object to Selphie being here at all (I'm admittedly a Selphie fanboy)... but after watching the entry for her, I can't really deny it. Zell gets Armageddon Fist, Quistis is the Blue Mage (and this was the era where Blue Magic was insane), Irvine has Fast Ammo, Rinoa you can pretty much rig to have stupid chances of getting Invincible Moon or Wishing Star (and even if you don't there's always Meteor Wing), and Squall's Squall. Selphie? ...Your best bet later on is to que up Eden and Bahamut, then hope you get something during those animations. She's awesome when she strikes gold, but.... yeah, even I'll admit she's too random compared to the other five. Overall, solid list.
When I think of Useless characters. I take the story into account too. Like Khimahri, but lets be real here. You could remove the Ronso from FFX fully and the story wouldn't charge at all. They play no important role but to make Seymour Flux and that's a unforgivable sin all together. Everything Khimahri does important to the story. He does 10 years ago and we don't see it. That is why I would put Vaan because of how completely USELESS he is to the story. I mean would any of you of care if Ashe was the Main Character in FF12?
in 12 techically everyone is a main because everyonr has their own arc but vaan isnt useless in the story because if u think about it ashe would be dead if it wasnt for vaan
not really since in the begnning it was vaan who save ashe from the nights so those event would have stilled happened the only that would have changed if if vaan and them would have been there but since vaan decided to sneak into the castle the story is only possible thanks to him
Vaan is awesome. He's probably the most well-balanced for all the characters. I know I know, he gets a lot of hate because he's kinda bland, but he is no where near useless. If you wanna go for useless in FF12, it's gotta be Penelo.
I was trying to make a point about Khimahri when it comes to the story. Funny how indoctrinated FF12 fans can only see Vaan. Clearly I was talking about the story. FF12's combat is another form of Cancer we can talk about at a later date
I came back to this list after doing some research into After Years, and I found some things to point out about Harley: 1. No, she does not get any better in late levels. In fact, she's still terrible. Her Max HP never goes above 5,000 and all her stats besides MP only get to low-mid 50's at level 99. 2. She does actually have some other bands she can use that don't require Edward to be in the party, but they require having Rydia, Izayoi, and either Leonora or Rosa in order to actually use the bands, and even then they don't really seem that useful.
"And don't even think for a second that Rikku will be on this list. you just don't know how to use her" ...Well, one could use this same sentence against you. Specially Kimahri! He can be the best character without any grinding at all. He only get behind in the optional content because of the lack of multi-hiting overdrives.
Jack is my kryptonite. I think Cinque is way better. Once you get her charge swing move, (could be called Homerun) it's easy to get kill sights. Actually, It's just that I haven't used him much I guess and because I can't solo with him. Cinque I can do that with from the first try.
We're going to have to agree to disagree on Vivi. He was one of my main party members. But as you said, it depends on HOW you play. I usually have wht mage, blk mage, thief and warrior in any FF game. Steiner and Vivi make an AWESOME team! I do agree with Cait Sith though (the traitor). And Khimari steals abilities. You steal the right ones and he is OP.
Awww Selphie is one of my main characters to go to. Full cure saved me when I was in a pickle and the chances of getting The End may be hard to get but when you do on a boss without freezing the game it's awesome. I've got it before the 3rd form died and then was used on ultimicia and she started talking which means she does already. Also, in FF8 I use all the characters evenly...junctioning everyone with GF and stats and fight ultimicia with any 3 characters she picks first.
Nope your are dead on about it, I was 10 and I try 12 hours just to get that last slot. I'm still getting use to Final fantasy franchise so far I like it also I want to thank you if it wasn't for you I would have never get into the franchise.
Well for my part I used it to kill both weapons on my first play through of the game when I was about 11 and youtube did not exist but I used it from what I remember it makes a reaper appear and it give a scythe hit that instant kills anything except if emerald weapon does not have his hand in the sand. I had to practice my eye a lot and my timing but when i got the timing right and memorized the other of the figures I got it almost any time. It's hard but doable
Well, when I was in Junior High there were a few gamer girls (yep, believe me) that liked him/her/it? because uhhh "cute".... I used to spam (or use a turbo controller or macro on PC) the square button but even with that the computer is being a d*ck that it skips the last picture, I meant "duck" Other than using GS, it ain't easy. I've only got that to appear once in my lifetime and couldn't do it again...
dude amarant is more useless than Vivi and Vivi kicks ass. I disagree with you so much on this subject it's not even funny. leaving vivi out of your party also totally nerfs Steiner. I agree with the rest of your list, but I can't fathom choosing vivi over amarant.
There is one other factor to take into account when choosing a party in FF7, and that is triple material growth weapons. Cloud and Cid each have one, as well as the best limit breaks, so these two are shoe-ins. For your third party member, the choice is between two candidates with very good (level 3) limit breaks: Barret and Yuffie. They both do about the same damage with their multi-hit limits, but what puts Yuffie over the edge is that her ultimate weapon allows her to morph an enemy with the full power of a regular attack, instead of its default diminished damage. I also don’t use Vivi. I love him as a character, but other characters can also deal great damage for far less MP. And you don’t need to memorize or look up what enemies are weak to which schools of magic. Just smack them. You also don’t need him for Ozma. Just do your gem-trading right and you can smack him at melee range.
I just have her spam al bhed potions at that point. They're fast to stock pile and heal 1k to everyone, they also remove petrify which helps a lot on that boss you fight without Yuna.

Howcome you didn't pick Amarant? His ultimate weapon sucks and is normally the last one for me to obtain outside of EX-2 and even Ragnarok is stronger anyway, and all his abilities are weaker than everyone elses, the only person with a worse trance is Quina but Quinas regular abilities are better than his in trance anyway. It's a shame really as I kinda like him as a character, same with Selphie, I tend to use her and Quistis as they are my fave chars, Rinoa kinda started to tick me off after like my 50th playthrough.
In your party perhaps, but if you max out every single character he ends up bringing the least to the table, and everyone can do consistent 9999 damage except him sadly and a non-trance garnet, he's like a cross between freya and quina with worse abilities and relegated to the front line unless used for support, and as support why would you use him over quina, eiko, garnet or even vivi with a healing doomsday build whom can all outdamage him. It's sad as hes my fave character outside of combat; my least fave being eiko and freya and freya is the best in combat out of everyone, low cost constant 9999s even against mobs with protect from the back row without need of any stones wasted on "Killer" or long reach plus heavy armour and jump as icing, I find it hard not picking her in my lineup unless doing a challenge game.
No they do not depend on "How you use them" that is personal preference; the accepted most efficient method to get through bosses is burning them down as fast as possible thus making highest damage dealers the "Most useful" if you maximise all characters then amarant is the weakest character unless you somehow have an unlimited source of wing edges; which are far more of a pain to farm than anyone elses minigames/mechanics or spend a fortune on a char to do what everyone else can do a limited number of times.
I agree that most characters who have slots as their limit breaks/special ability/overdrive/whatevers suck ass, but the one huge exception to this is Wakka. Damn are his attack slots easy to unlock, and incredibly easy to stop on the correct choice to get 12 hits per use. With the right Overdrive set up you can get multiple uses in a single battle, plus have other characters keep transferring their Overdrive bars via Entrust...I hate slots, but at the same time, Wakka's attack slot is one of the best attacks in the whole series.
Vincent seems like an odd pick. I beat the game using him on my first try because I hate the personalities and/or designs of Barret, Cait Sith, and Yuffie. Red XIII, Cloud, Tifa, and Vincent were my front runners for sure, in terms of designs and backstories

Should be a bit higher though, but I never had the versions of the game where he apparently got better so I can't judge. #9 On the hedge with this one, I used Vincent a lot because I noticed that he was the most consistently powerful Mage for the party, so I had him setup as my parties Mage. All things considered though, I can see why others wouldn't use him at all, a very finicky party member (but nowhere, NOWHERE near as useless as Cait Sith, fk that cat! Insta team killing sunnuva-!) #8 Hrm, Vivi was a mainstay for me, I like my mages XD. Amarant/Eiko were the ones I'd say was least used, Steiner brought better utility and combined with Vivi well (I liked their whole synergy gimmick, it was fun ^^), and Garnet was better setup than Eiko. #7 Ain't played, can't judge. #6 Agreed, Kimahri has insane versatility, but he's a poor jack of all trades, master of none, all others can be matched up to cover those roles and do it way better than he can. #5 Agreed, although FF8 characters were all kinda indistinct due to the way the junction system worked, Selphie's limits just weren't realistically good enough, and when limits are really the only thing that tell party members apart, that's bad. #4 Ain't played, can't judge. (well, I did, but only got about 10 hours in) #3 Ain't played, can't judge. #2 As I said earlier, fk Cait Sith, deserves number 1 IMO #1 Ain't played, can't judge.
Zissou Squadldr he don’t know how to use kimshri. I got his magic in the high 70s and his strength in the high 80s. He knows mug 3rd level blk magic flare ultimate double cast triple threat which causes silence sleep and blindness for 3 turns. He does damage in the high 9000s attacking and 7000s with magic and he knows hastage. He’s solid for me and his leaching ability.
well on cait sith it is very rare to get death joker it is actually easier to get game over and when I played ffvii he was the only character I maxed out. it is annoying to do the slots yes but they are fun to use. and helpful in some situations. but I do agree with the Vincent placing on this list.
Gogo not dope. It can use the combination of all the other character abilities combined. You have to equip them though. Gogo is perhaps one of the better characters.
Gogo is great because you can have him mimic someone like Celes after she casts Ultima twice. Which he can do for free. He's not as powerful, but you just put him in a party with powerful people. Umaro is never useful. Unfortunately. Honestly, without the Imp glitch Cyan is probably the second most useless. He's just slow and his Swd Tech is also slow. He's bad a magic and because Stamina is bugged and Vigor really isn't that big a deal later on, Cyan just sucks. Which is too bad because he's one of my favorite actual characters in the game.
It's not really character that are dope Magic is just extremely OP in FFVI you can beat nearly the entire game by just spamming magic, so by just equip espers that raise Magic and learn strong spell every characters except Umaro is awesome, their personnal skill for the most part completly pales in comparaison to magics.
My list (these are the only FF games I've played so far): FF4: Tellah. Damn DK did you forget about this guy? Lol. I think he's even more useless than Edward. Dude's stats GOES DOWN when he levels up. His MP never goes over 99, so if you use a level 3 spell you'll have to waste an ether to replenish his MP. Oh yeah, and can never use Meteor in a regular fight. At least Edward has Life Anthem and that's a free HP recovery. Other than providing a timeless insult, he's the worst and most useless character in all FF games that I've played so far. FF6: Gogo: He's an optional character, but he's like Kimahri in FFX that he mimics other's move, and by the time you actually get him he's pointless. I actually love Umaro. Dude's your strongest attacker for a long time. I level him up by himself early, and he's usually strong enough to destroy all the enemies alone. He's also useful when you climb the mage tower. FF7: Caith Sith: Gutsy putting Vincent on the list, but I agree completely. I still remember when I finally got him. Dude looks so badass! But...he wasn't very useful. Bare with me guys, but at least Caith Sith early in the game has weapons with MANY materia slots to help you grow your materia. I mean, Caith Saith still sucks more, but Vincent isn't much better. Anyways, not much to say as you already covered why Caith Sith sucks balls. FF8: Selphie: She's pretty and them legs goes for miles, but yeah she's useless. When I first played FF7 I died many times because I couldn't get the right spell with her limit break. Damn her! FF9: Amarant: Strongly disagree with Vivi. He is awesome, especially early on. His spells are even stronger than Zidane's attack for a while. He can also combo with Steiner for some devastating damages later in the game. I do understand why you chose Vivi though, and even I agree I can go without him by simply choosing Zidane and Steiner as my attackers. Quina is up there, but at least she/he has a weapon that can *randomly* attack very high early, and that's useful in some parts. Plus if you actually catch all the frog, Quina becomes very powerful. FF10: Kimahri: Yeah, I think everyone can agree he's the most useless one. Ugh, sucks because I love his character design and even his storyline is pretty good. I think they should've made him a stronger attacker. I mean look at him. Dude's a beast and towers over everyone. I always feed bad though, so I try to level him up and at least use him. And yup, always get him to unlock steal early. FF12: Penelo: In my opinion, THE 2ND USELESS CHARACTER OF ALL TIME (behind Tellah). What the fuck does she even provide? Now I've only played the U.S. version, so all the character's jobs are interchangeable, but still she sucks at everything. She also gets basically no development in the game, so you don't even care about her. Really, she could be absent from FF12 and nothing would change and no one would care. Anyways, that's my list for each series. Haven't played the rest so...but that said, can you do Top 10 Badass FF character's next? Auron better be #1 too :D
Strongly disagree with gogo being bad. His stats are worse than the rest of the characters. But he has everyone in the party spells which is great. And in the world of ruin if you get him right after the airship gogo's version of bum rush does quite a bit of damage. End game hes useless haha
I like the game. I can see why some people didn’t like it. However, the game’s story and potential was awesome! The FFVII would have more added to their series if the game didn’t received so many bad reviews.
I actually mained Cinque when i played that, she was slow but it really forces you to rely on the killsight system in the game and makes it more fun for me. Plus her 'gaia pulse'? i think its called that is suuuper broken for a lot of enemies. i beat two behemoths with her at the start of the game with only cinque, made a video for it lol. But i can still understand why people dont wanna play a slow character in that kind of game. But for me shes actually pretty useful
I thought quina was the useless one in FF9... random damage, gotta spend time eating tons of monsters to get all the attacks... only a few of the blue magic skills was honestly worth it, but they were also situational....
@@bustymcnutters801 its almost as if, every character in ix fits a niche... which ends up as more of a preference of gameplay style than actual usability...
Edward is only with you in two dungeons, during the first of which every enemy is vulnerable to all his status attacks, preventing them from killing Rydia all the time, and at the end of the second, the boss has an attack so powerful that you actually need to use his hide command to more reliably survive it. I don't think you should've capitulated and included him in the list personally. Good shout including Vivi though :P
I haven't read all of the comments but you are 100% right about Harley. While I like her character and her use of Elemental Whips does allow her to branch out a little, she pales in comparison to everyone else. You are right that Harley is unfinished. She was Meant to be a Blue Mage (Blue Magic is in the middle of her commands in the data) but I guess they couldn't get the system working right or never really tried to do so. There's a also a Dual-Item command associated with her that also goes unused, because of course.
I feel the same way about Kimahri, I was itching to replace him from the moment he joined. That being said the real travesty of FF10 (the original PS2 US version) is how horrible Lulu actually is. You think she's marginally useful but if you take Yuna over to the Black Magic portion of the grid you suddenly realize that Yuna just completely outclasses Lulu and can do so from pretty early on in the game. I think this was partially fixed in the remaster but my memory is hazy. I just remember I stopped playing for several weeks when I was a kid because I was so annoyed at how much time I wasted on Lulu only to have Yuna trivialize her whole existence.
Yeah, I realized that too when I give Yuna some black magic spells like fire and Blizzard, then I compare the damage of yuna's magic to Lulu's black magic, yuna's Fire/Water/Thunder/Blizzard Damage has the same damage of Lulu's Fira/Watera/Thundara/Blizzara
With ffx though, eventually everyone becomes everything when the sphere grid is maxed out so there is no real useless character except for the damage cap then it's about multi hit overdrives so Lulu and Kimahri fall off.
Edward from FF4 is the absolute most useless character in the whole franchise. The bard in Ragnarok Online is more badass. Able to play with lutes like Slash playing an electric guitar and shoot arrows.

Fun fact Khimahri has in reality the strongest attack in the Entire Game Nova so the only thing that prevent him for being the strongest is the 99999 Damage Limit. Vivi is actually usefull especially in combo with Eiko (Carbuncle putting Reflect on the party + Reflecting a spell such has the élemental spell on the party it's during Disc 2 and until late Disc 3 (well late Chocobo Sidequest actually) the second strongest action you can do), personnaly the character I admitly don't know how tu use properly is Amarant he always ends up being a weak character that don't shine anywhere except for his Trance which is actually Good but considering the Trance mechanic suck in this game. I would also have add Gogo in FFVI problems is he comes way to late in the party, his stats sucks and he can't raise with Esper making him weaker than everybody and by this point of the game you probably already spamming either Ultima or Atma Weapon. Also not really a character but I really don't see any use for the Time Mage in FFXIIIZJS
Doode 352 I know that on the original version it was Auron (except unlike Khimahri it was on extremely specific condition and doesn't work on every ennemy in the game unlike Khimahri's Nova), but now everybody play the Remaster version in other word the International Version and Khimahri's Nova is the strongest attack the player can do (the Magus Sister's overdrive is weaker only the Dark Magus Sisters's Overdrive is stronger)

Somehow I just knew Harley would be #1. You're actually not wrong about her being unfinished, she was supposed to be a blue mage, if you hack into the game's code you'll find data the hints towards this, thing is the ability wasn't finished in time for the original mobile version and they never went back and implemented it in any future ports of the game. This really aggravates me personally because my favorite class is the blue mage and I go out of my way to use them in every game they're available in, so having Harley not only be useful but having her as my favorite class would have made what's already one of my favorite FF games so much better.

The End is very rare and she suffers the same way Vincent suffers in that everybody plays the same in Final Fantasy 7 and 8 and only thing separating are limit breaks and the other characters have limit breaks that are consistently better and more useful.
Vincent has some very good uses. Earlier on, you can use his 255% weapons with deathblow materia and link DBlow to other materia for all sorts of awesome combos. And then, if you get him early and use him a ton, by the time you get his ultimate weapon, which you can also get earlier than most, you can do heck loads of damage.
There is this combo called the Armageddon Fist, it's alternating Booya and Punch Rush or Booya and Heel drop, executing a Finishing move is a waste of time.
+LucidCharade the point of Armageddon Fist is to get the maximum damage from Zell's Duel, that's why it only uses Booya+Punch Rush or Booya+Heel Drop because they only required 2 buttons which can be executed quickly and stop the timer as fast as possible. executing one Finishing Move could mean you will probably lose about 3 to 5 more attack. Finishing move is cool though and some hit multiple enemies.
I prefer to fight him without the friendly creatures. Even then, I'd rather have white mages and 2 attackers for that fight. The only Issue I ave with Ozma is Meteor.

NO NO NO NO!!! yes she maybe be slow and her attacks may miss at times, but when her attacks land she is OP far from useless just gotta know how to position her right. And again Selphie far from useless and again yes her slots may be random but with the right timing you can get lucky and she can sometimes get you right out of tight situation. How DARE you say Selphie is useful... thats like saying Rikku's crafting is tedious and pointless.
The very first Double-AP, linked-slot weapon in the game is found in Kalm. Vincent isn't there to use it, and you can get double-AP weapons before you can get him, and only Cad has a Triple-AP weapon, but the Peacemaker is still an indication of what is to come: Vincent gets two of the four linked-slot double AP weapons, and two of the three 255 Accuracy weapons. This makes him a irreplaceable tool for some players, sections of the game, and playing his part in strategies that cannot be completed another way. For players that know what they are doing, there is no "wrong element", only the "you done f.cked up" element. Replacing Vincent, or Counterattack, Mug, or Chocobo materia, are tactical moves that no one should avoid, and no one need do permanently.
Selphie is one of those "You're not using her right" characters. She completely dominates the last boss (not Omega weapon), because she is your main healer (you know, when the boss loves breaking all of your Curaga spells?). Step 1: Cast Aura on her. BOOM, Full-Cure almost always. Step 2: Have someone summon Eden. Step 3: You have lots and lots and lots of time to try to get The End on her slots. Step 4: ??? Step 5: Profit!
As a character, Vincent sucks, he is just cool and emo and he barely has any depth or personality. Almost same goes for Amaranth, another tough guy, at least he isnt angst, but still one of the worst characters.

Something worth noting is that a lot of these worst characters either take a freakishly long time to make usable (Vincent) or rely exlusively on a luck-based (or rather, a strict RNG-based) system that, if exploited, could make them freakishly overpowered. The one exception is Harley. Apparently, she was meant to be a Blue Mage, but for whatever reason, Square decided to scrap that concept, and yet did absolutely nothing to change her. It was to the point that she outright sucks.
In my opinion garnet is more useless than vivi. i mean why you will need 2 white mages?. and eiko has more whites mages, meanwhile garnet only has more summons, but these summons make the same damage than a normal zidane's attack does.
I would consider Garnet more of a Summoner with White Mage capabilities and Eiko a White Mage with Summoner capabilities. The reason why I choose Eiko over Garnet in my final party is because I need the better White Mage. I don't really use Summons in Final Fantasy IX because I just find a majority of them to be useless... Summons were much more useful in FFVIII or FFX...

Vincent's Death Penalty has a OHKO glitch. Anybody who's ever played this game knows that glitch. I specifically stated in the video, " it takes a long time to power this thing up." By the time you power that weapon up to that point, I could have Killed Emerald Weapon over 50 times. And it doesn't even work on Ruby weapon. Why is this so hard for you to understand??

Look at the sphere grid and find steal. I believe you should have Rikku by the time you hit the calm lands, so it should be easy to locate. Now farm with Kimahri until you can get him to the steal sphere and learn it. That's how the game works. You "level up" your characters and learn abilities by running them through the sphere grid
All is all it's a guessing game. Surely you will find characters more useful than others but another challenge is to turn a disadvantage into an advantage. Trying to win with something weaker tops peoples lists.

Although my wife will severely disagree, unlike other characters, Vivi basically sticks to one thing which is offense. In my own experience Vivi is only useful in "Challenges" ("Level 1 Challenge", "Excalibur II", etc..)
Fun Fact: In FFIV the After Years, a unused Blue Magic command was found in the game's code. Many fans think it was supposed to be for Harley, because of her statline and equips. Imagine if she really had Blue Magic!

Kimahri can be taught to be pretty much any kind of fighter from the start because he has access to pretty much everyone else's sections of the grid, but because he starts going there later than people their own sections, he'll probably lag behind them. The thing is that his base Magic is higher than Lulu's, so he works wonderfully as a mage. I taught him black magic, used Black Magic Spheres to teach him more powerful spells that Lulu had already learned and managed to teach him Doublecast before Lulu or Yuna, so he actually turned out to be a complete game breaker throughout the story. Especially after Bikanel because he could hit hard with his spells and also use Al Bhed Potions to heal. Well, that and the fact that he could be taught Steal and Use early on, as you mentioned.
Although once you get the airship and start doing optional stuff, yes, he becomes pretty much useless and his Overdrives do suck. Except Nova, if you get it before you can reach 99,999 with the others' Overdrives.

I always thought it was apparent (at least to myself it was) that he was a jack of all trades, but a master of none type of character. At least until you train him up to be a master of what ever you wanted. He was always in my main team. Kimarhi, Auron, and Tidus where my "A" team. ^_^
I just stuck evade & counter on Auron and had him in permanent cover, he was my main sweeper until omega dungeon. and not sure if it was a glitch, everytime he went to cover an ally he dodged it which triggered his evade & counter, so not only was he hitting hard very quickly from cover counter combo he was also dodging everything and taking no damage

Auron and Lulu are too slow to use I once switched Auron in to use the overdrive with all the status effects on the final boss but he was so slow that I wasn't able to switch him out before being killed

The saddest thing about Kimahri is that his setup depends on the player’s choice. The only thing that belongs to him specifically is Lancet and its pretty useful in the early stages as you can get a lot of useful overdrives like Stone Breath and Bad Breath. But when Rikku joins the party he pretty much becomes useless. The best way to use him is as a thief to get the sphere grids when he fights Biran and Yenke.

Lol, I did the exact same thing. You’re probably talking about the materia keeper (I think that’s its name), the first boss you fight after the earliest point you can get Vincent in the party. It really is stupid that the game actively discourages you from using your brand new character right away with that boss.

Lulu is a mage but then again so is Yuna and you can have her learn black and white magic so yes, Lulu is quite uslesss to me.
I don't know, man. I thought the same thing the first time I played the game. I thought Lulu was great as well. Over the years, I've realized it is the opposite. Lulu is useful for a portion of the game, but her reliance on offensive magic makes her weaker. Rikku or Yuna can get her key spells with other spheres and then do other great things. You could argue that she could do the same with their spells, but she is much slower than both of them.
Now, Kimahri's limit is junky compared to most others in the game. However, he starts very close to Titus on the sphere grid. I don't think many people would contest that Titus is the best in the game, whether you're talking the normal game or going to max out your characters. His speed and strength are essentially equal to Titus. Kimahri can quickly get in Titus' path and get everything he gets, just about 10 levels behind. So, double delay attack can make it so many early bosses never even get a turn, double haste + quick attack later in the game means you get about 20 turns before the enemy gets one. It's nuts. If you're going to max your characters, Kimahri loses it over time since anyone else gets the same benefits and his limit weighs him down. Either way, he's not even close to the worst guy in the game, and even further from the top 10 worst FF characters.
Knowing DK, Lulu gets a pass because of her boobs. :P

In The After Years, Edward's actually an awesome party member, beating out even the best of the games' White Mage's as a support. He can Salve items like Dry Ethers to restore the MP of every party member for price of one Dry Ether, and items like Phoenix Down can work the same way. Not to mention Bardsong, which has a chance of casting Shell and Protect on all party members at higher levels, and Hastemarch which casts Haste on all party members, both of which requiring no MP.
He's no longer forced to hide when his HP is low, making him very handy for the many hard-hitting superbosses. If everyone else gets KO'd in one attack, Edward can come back, and thanks to his great speed he can Salve Phoenix Downs then some X-Potions for the whole party. Not to mention that his passive Item Lore ability doubles the power of items.
He's not broken like he can get in the original game, but he's still easily one the best characters in the game, and I use him gladly over any White Mage.
Again, just in The After Years.
Yeah, in After Years he's a complete badass. While the rest of the game callously recycles plot beats from the original game and wastes a ton of your time doing so, for me it was totally worth it to see Edward's growth. His and Kain's arcs in that game were the two things that felt truly new. And that scene where he stood up to Kain's dark half, holy shit. Balls of steel.

I had a feeling Cait sith would be high up there. I have only discovered one use for Cait sith. his dice limit break actually is useful for speedrunning but that's it. I do indeed plan on speedrunning that game the next time I stream so you will see what I mean
You can actually manipulate his second Limit, once you get how to do that he is actually OP and can One-Shot everything in the game, so personnaly I think he is more like Kweena and Rikku a very strong character which is very underrated, tough like DK with Kweena I don't use Cait Sith because I don't like him at all.
JOC217 supposedly, there is a set up to allow Cait's slots to always destroy the enemy (it involves auto-reviving after death joker). Also, it got better in FFRK, where its a dancer and bard.

What's funny is that if there was no damage cap, Kimahri would be the most consistent person to deal tons of damage (Max Magic Nova overdrive and crit deals near 5 mil.)

Darkkefka Yeah. Kimahri just got the short stick. His Celestial Weapon didn't save him from being always shafted, either. At least he's incredibly helpful early game, especially in NSG, with the second highest HP and having Piercing.

Kimahri is in the very fucking middle of the sphere, he can go down any other characters level path at the very start, you want to have the power of Auron before you get to Luca, send Kimarhi down his path, want a second OP healer/spellcaster, have him follow Yuna, fighting support? follow Tidus, he's THE MOST VERSATILE CHARACTER PERIOD!
The fact he was chilling by an ultima spell made me grind him at level 1 and just get a bunch of locks before I invested in him. I ran lulu towards double cast, and holy, and then I used the friend sphere on them to move them around, then warped back. It's safe to say that he was my pride and joy. He mopped everything with OP spells, and I'm happy they let people use a little know how vs luck.
+LucidCharade except in FFX, the so called "red mage syndrome" (whatever the fuck that is) isn't really an issue because you can get all skills and abilities, theoretically you can run every single character through the entire level sphere and get every single ability and stat power up. it's not like a red mage that would only get select spells and abilities from black and white mages, you can literally get the exact same shit as anyone else

On one hand, I want to object to Selphie being here at all (I'm admittedly a Selphie fanboy)... but after watching the entry for her, I can't really deny it. Zell gets Armageddon Fist, Quistis is the Blue Mage (and this was the era where Blue Magic was insane), Irvine has Fast Ammo, Rinoa you can pretty much rig to have stupid chances of getting Invincible Moon or Wishing Star (and even if you don't there's always Meteor Wing), and Squall's Squall. Selphie? ...Your best bet later on is to que up Eden and Bahamut, then hope you get something during those animations. She's awesome when she strikes gold, but.... yeah, even I'll admit she's too random compared to the other five. Overall, solid list.
When I think of Useless characters. I take the story into account too. Like Khimahri, but lets be real here. You could remove the Ronso from FFX fully and the story wouldn't charge at all. They play no important role but to make Seymour Flux and that's a unforgivable sin all together. Everything Khimahri does important to the story. He does 10 years ago and we don't see it. That is why I would put Vaan because of how completely USELESS he is to the story. I mean would any of you of care if Ashe was the Main Character in FF12?

I came back to this list after doing some research into After Years, and I found some things to point out about Harley:
1. No, she does not get any better in late levels. In fact, she's still terrible. Her Max HP never goes above 5,000 and all her stats besides MP only get to low-mid 50's at level 99.
2. She does actually have some other bands she can use that don't require Edward to be in the party, but they require having Rydia, Izayoi, and either Leonora or Rosa in order to actually use the bands, and even then they don't really seem that useful.
Vivi is actually one of the strongest/most useful characters in his game. He's really powerful and all you really need is one White Mage.

...Well, one could use this same sentence against you. Specially Kimahri! He can be the best character without any grinding at all. He only get behind in the optional content because of the lack of multi-hiting overdrives.

Jack is my kryptonite. I think Cinque is way better. Once you get her charge swing move, (could be called Homerun) it's easy to get kill sights. Actually, It's just that I haven't used him much I guess and because I can't solo with him. Cinque I can do that with from the first try.
Solo-ing with Jack was pretty easy for me from the start. ^_^' I just never had a hard time figuring out his moveset.

We're going to have to agree to disagree on Vivi. He was one of my main party members. But as you said, it depends on HOW you play. I usually have wht mage, blk mage, thief and warrior in any FF game. Steiner and Vivi make an AWESOME team! I do agree with Cait Sith though (the traitor). And Khimari steals abilities. You steal the right ones and he is OP.

Awww Selphie is one of my main characters to go to. Full cure saved me when I was in a pickle and the chances of getting The End may be hard to get but when you do on a boss without freezing the game it's awesome. I've got it before the 3rd form died and then was used on ultimicia and she started talking which means she does already. Also, in FF8 I use all the characters evenly...junctioning everyone with GF and stats and fight ultimicia with any 3 characters she picks first.
Am I wrong about Cait Sith guys? Is there really a fixed way to control his slots besides pausing it with the square button?

Well for my part I used it to kill both weapons on my first play through of the game when I was about 11 and youtube did not exist but I used it from what I remember it makes a reaper appear and it give a scythe hit that instant kills anything except if emerald weapon does not have his hand in the sand. I had to practice my eye a lot and my timing but when i got the timing right and memorized the other of the figures I got it almost any time. It's hard but doable

There is one other factor to take into account when choosing a party in FF7, and that is triple material growth weapons. Cloud and Cid each have one, as well as the best limit breaks, so these two are shoe-ins. For your third party member, the choice is between two candidates with very good (level 3) limit breaks: Barret and Yuffie. They both do about the same damage with their multi-hit limits, but what puts Yuffie over the edge is that her ultimate weapon allows her to morph an enemy with the full power of a regular attack, instead of its default diminished damage.
I also don’t use Vivi. I love him as a character, but other characters can also deal great damage for far less MP. And you don’t need to memorize or look up what enemies are weak to which schools of magic. Just smack them. You also don’t need him for Ozma. Just do your gem-trading right and you can smack him at melee range.
glad to see someone who likes Rikku. i made her into a 2nd white magic mage. She helped alot when Yuna was gone from the party.
I just have her spam al bhed potions at that point. They're fast to stock pile and heal 1k to everyone, they also remove petrify which helps a lot on that boss you fight without Yuna.

Howcome you didn't pick Amarant? His ultimate weapon sucks and is normally the last one for me to obtain outside of EX-2 and even Ragnarok is stronger anyway, and all his abilities are weaker than everyone elses, the only person with a worse trance is Quina but Quinas regular abilities are better than his in trance anyway. It's a shame really as I kinda like him as a character, same with Selphie, I tend to use her and Quistis as they are my fave chars, Rinoa kinda started to tick me off after like my 50th playthrough.

In your party perhaps, but if you max out every single character he ends up bringing the least to the table, and everyone can do consistent 9999 damage except him sadly and a non-trance garnet, he's like a cross between freya and quina with worse abilities and relegated to the front line unless used for support, and as support why would you use him over quina, eiko, garnet or even vivi with a healing doomsday build whom can all outdamage him.
It's sad as hes my fave character outside of combat; my least fave being eiko and freya and freya is the best in combat out of everyone, low cost constant 9999s even against mobs with protect from the back row without need of any stones wasted on "Killer" or long reach plus heavy armour and jump as icing, I find it hard not picking her in my lineup unless doing a challenge game.
don't forget No Mercy! That move does a lot of damage.
ultimately all the characters just depend on how you use them.
No they do not depend on "How you use them" that is personal preference; the accepted most efficient method to get through bosses is burning them down as fast as possible thus making highest damage dealers the "Most useful" if you maximise all characters then amarant is the weakest character unless you somehow have an unlimited source of wing edges; which are far more of a pain to farm than anyone elses minigames/mechanics or spend a fortune on a char to do what everyone else can do a limited number of times.

I agree that most characters who have slots as their limit breaks/special ability/overdrive/whatevers suck ass, but the one huge exception to this is Wakka. Damn are his attack slots easy to unlock, and incredibly easy to stop on the correct choice to get 12 hits per use. With the right Overdrive set up you can get multiple uses in a single battle, plus have other characters keep transferring their Overdrive bars via Entrust...I hate slots, but at the same time, Wakka's attack slot is one of the best attacks in the whole series.
Vincent seems like an odd pick. I beat the game using him on my first try because I hate the personalities and/or designs of Barret, Cait Sith, and Yuffie. Red XIII, Cloud, Tifa, and Vincent were my front runners for sure, in terms of designs and backstories
I personally love kimahri, he ends up my parties tank over auron and tidus. Putting him on wakkas path helps a bunch for status effects

#10 Good start, fully agree! Should be a bit higher though, but I never had the versions of the game where he apparently got better so I can't judge.
#9 On the hedge with this one, I used Vincent a lot because I noticed that he was the most consistently powerful Mage for the party, so I had him setup as my parties Mage. All things considered though, I can see why others wouldn't use him at all, a very finicky party member (but nowhere, NOWHERE near as useless as Cait Sith, fk that cat! Insta team killing sunnuva-!)
#8 Hrm, Vivi was a mainstay for me, I like my mages XD. Amarant/Eiko were the ones I'd say was least used, Steiner brought better utility and combined with Vivi well (I liked their whole synergy gimmick, it was fun ^^), and Garnet was better setup than Eiko.

#6 Agreed, Kimahri has insane versatility, but he's a poor jack of all trades, master of none, all others can be matched up to cover those roles and do it way better than he can.

Zissou Squadldr he don’t know how to use kimshri. I got his magic in the high 70s and his strength in the high 80s. He knows mug 3rd level blk magic flare ultimate double cast triple threat which causes silence sleep and blindness for 3 turns. He does damage in the high 9000s attacking and 7000s with magic and he knows hastage. He’s solid for me and his leaching ability.

well on cait sith it is very rare to get death joker it is actually easier to get game over and when I played ffvii he was the only character I maxed out. it is annoying to do the slots yes but they are fun to use. and helpful in some situations. but I do agree with the Vincent placing on this list.

"Terra, Locke, and Celes." Someone never used the Cyan imp glitch. Cyan is the only character you need in the whole game.
Gogo not dope. It can use the combination of all the other character abilities combined. You have to equip them though. Gogo is perhaps one of the better characters.
Gogo is great because you can have him mimic someone like Celes after she casts Ultima twice. Which he can do for free. He's not as powerful, but you just put him in a party with powerful people.
Umaro is never useful. Unfortunately. Honestly, without the Imp glitch Cyan is probably the second most useless. He's just slow and his Swd Tech is also slow. He's bad a magic and because Stamina is bugged and Vigor really isn't that big a deal later on, Cyan just sucks. Which is too bad because he's one of my favorite actual characters in the game.
Umaro + Fanatics Tower, Nuff said.
It's not really character that are dope Magic is just extremely OP in FFVI you can beat nearly the entire game by just spamming magic, so by just equip espers that raise Magic and learn strong spell every characters except Umaro is awesome, their personnal skill for the most part completly pales in comparaison to magics.

My list (these are the only FF games I've played so far):
FF4: Tellah. Damn DK did you forget about this guy? Lol. I think he's even more useless than Edward. Dude's stats GOES DOWN when he levels up. His MP never goes over 99, so if you use a level 3 spell you'll have to waste an ether to replenish his MP. Oh yeah, and can never use Meteor in a regular fight. At least Edward has Life Anthem and that's a free HP recovery. Other than providing a timeless insult, he's the worst and most useless character in all FF games that I've played so far.
FF6: Gogo: He's an optional character, but he's like Kimahri in FFX that he mimics other's move, and by the time you actually get him he's pointless. I actually love Umaro. Dude's your strongest attacker for a long time. I level him up by himself early, and he's usually strong enough to destroy all the enemies alone. He's also useful when you climb the mage tower.
FF7: Caith Sith: Gutsy putting Vincent on the list, but I agree completely. I still remember when I finally got him. Dude looks so badass! But...he wasn't very useful. Bare with me guys, but at least Caith Sith early in the game has weapons with MANY materia slots to help you grow your materia. I mean, Caith Saith still sucks more, but Vincent isn't much better. Anyways, not much to say as you already covered why Caith Sith sucks balls.
FF8: Selphie: She's pretty and them legs goes for miles, but yeah she's useless. When I first played FF7 I died many times because I couldn't get the right spell with her limit break. Damn her!
FF9: Amarant: Strongly disagree with Vivi. He is awesome, especially early on. His spells are even stronger than Zidane's attack for a while. He can also combo with Steiner for some devastating damages later in the game. I do understand why you chose Vivi though, and even I agree I can go without him by simply choosing Zidane and Steiner as my attackers. Quina is up there, but at least she/he has a weapon that can *randomly* attack very high early, and that's useful in some parts. Plus if you actually catch all the frog, Quina becomes very powerful.
FF10: Kimahri: Yeah, I think everyone can agree he's the most useless one. Ugh, sucks because I love his character design and even his storyline is pretty good. I think they should've made him a stronger attacker. I mean look at him. Dude's a beast and towers over everyone. I always feed bad though, so I try to level him up and at least use him. And yup, always get him to unlock steal early.
FF12: Penelo: In my opinion, THE 2ND USELESS CHARACTER OF ALL TIME (behind Tellah). What the fuck does she even provide? Now I've only played the U.S. version, so all the character's jobs are interchangeable, but still she sucks at everything. She also gets basically no development in the game, so you don't even care about her. Really, she could be absent from FF12 and nothing would change and no one would care.
Anyways, that's my list for each series. Haven't played the rest so...but that said, can you do Top 10 Badass FF character's next? Auron better be #1 too :D
When FF12 comes out as the full version later on, you will find a use for her. Trust me. I recommend a black mage or something...
Strongly disagree with gogo being bad. His stats are worse than the rest of the characters. But he has everyone in the party spells which is great. And in the world of ruin if you get him right after the airship gogo's version of bum rush does quite a bit of damage. End game hes useless haha

I actually mained Cinque when i played that, she was slow but it really forces you to rely on the killsight system in the game and makes it more fun for me. Plus her 'gaia pulse'? i think its called that is suuuper broken for a lot of enemies. i beat two behemoths with her at the start of the game with only cinque, made a video for it lol. But i can still understand why people dont wanna play a slow character in that kind of game. But for me shes actually pretty useful

Edward is only with you in two dungeons, during the first of which every enemy is vulnerable to all his status attacks, preventing them from killing Rydia all the time, and at the end of the second, the boss has an attack so powerful that you actually need to use his hide command to more reliably survive it.
I don't think you should've capitulated and included him in the list personally.

I haven't read all of the comments but you are 100% right about Harley. While I like her character and her use of Elemental Whips does allow her to branch out a little, she pales in comparison to everyone else. You are right that Harley is unfinished. She was Meant to be a Blue Mage (Blue Magic is in the middle of her commands in the data) but I guess they couldn't get the system working right or never really tried to do so. There's a also a Dual-Item command associated with her that also goes unused, because of course.

I feel the same way about Kimahri, I was itching to replace him from the moment he joined. That being said the real travesty of FF10 (the original PS2 US version) is how horrible Lulu actually is. You think she's marginally useful but if you take Yuna over to the Black Magic portion of the grid you suddenly realize that Yuna just completely outclasses Lulu and can do so from pretty early on in the game.
I think this was partially fixed in the remaster but my memory is hazy. I just remember I stopped playing for several weeks when I was a kid because I was so annoyed at how much time I wasted on Lulu only to have Yuna trivialize her whole existence.

Yeah, I realized that too when I give Yuna some black magic spells like fire and Blizzard, then I compare the damage of yuna's magic to Lulu's black magic, yuna's Fire/Water/Thunder/Blizzard Damage has the same damage of Lulu's Fira/Watera/Thundara/Blizzara

With ffx though, eventually everyone becomes everything when the sphere grid is maxed out so there is no real useless character except for the damage cap then it's about multi hit overdrives so Lulu and Kimahri fall off.

Edward from FF4 is the absolute most useless character in the whole franchise. The bard in Ragnarok Online is more badass. Able to play with lutes like Slash playing an electric guitar and shoot arrows.

Fun fact Khimahri has in reality the strongest attack in the Entire Game Nova so the only thing that prevent him for being the strongest is the 99999 Damage Limit.
Vivi is actually usefull especially in combo with Eiko (Carbuncle putting Reflect on the party + Reflecting a spell such has the élemental spell on the party it's during Disc 2 and until late Disc 3 (well late Chocobo Sidequest actually) the second strongest action you can do), personnaly the character I admitly don't know how tu use properly is Amarant he always ends up being a weak character that don't shine anywhere except for his Trance which is actually Good but considering the Trance mechanic suck in this game.
I would also have add Gogo in FFVI problems is he comes way to late in the party, his stats sucks and he can't raise with Esper making him weaker than everybody and by this point of the game you probably already spamming either Ultima or Atma Weapon.
Also not really a character but I really don't see any use for the Time Mage in FFXIIIZJS
The strongest attack in FFX is different on different ports of the game, not counting the Magus Sisters' final attack. (I forgot what it's called)
Doode 352 I know that on the original version it was Auron (except unlike Khimahri it was on extremely specific condition and doesn't work on every ennemy in the game unlike Khimahri's Nova), but now everybody play the Remaster version in other word the International Version and Khimahri's Nova is the strongest attack the player can do (the Magus Sister's overdrive is weaker only the Dark Magus Sisters's Overdrive is stronger)
Zanmato is debatable since it doesn't show the actual damage in numbers. . . I think it's classified as a status effect but I might be wrong

Harley IS an unfinished character. Square was going to give her Blue Magic, but managed to not do it.
Somehow I just knew Harley would be #1. You're actually not wrong about her being unfinished, she was supposed to be a blue mage, if you hack into the game's code you'll find data the hints towards this, thing is the ability wasn't finished in time for the original mobile version and they never went back and implemented it in any future ports of the game. This really aggravates me personally because my favorite class is the blue mage and I go out of my way to use them in every game they're available in, so having Harley not only be useful but having her as my favorite class would have made what's already one of my favorite FF games so much better.

The End is very rare and she suffers the same way Vincent suffers in that everybody plays the same in Final Fantasy 7 and 8 and only thing separating are limit breaks and the other characters have limit breaks that are consistently better and more useful.
Vincent has some very good uses. Earlier on, you can use his 255% weapons with deathblow materia and link DBlow to other materia for all sorts of awesome combos. And then, if you get him early and use him a ton, by the time you get his ultimate weapon, which you can also get earlier than most, you can do heck loads of damage.
In the right hands, Zell has the most devastating limit break. Selphie's one hit wonder isn't something you can rely on.
There is this combo called the Armageddon Fist, it's alternating Booya and Punch Rush or Booya and Heel drop, executing a Finishing move is a waste of time.
+LucidCharade the point of Armageddon Fist is to get the maximum damage from Zell's Duel, that's why it only uses Booya+Punch Rush or Booya+Heel Drop because they only required 2 buttons which can be executed quickly and stop the timer as fast as possible. executing one Finishing Move could mean you will probably lose about 3 to 5 more attack. Finishing move is cool though and some hit multiple enemies.
No wonder you have so much trouble with Ozma. You don't use Vivi! He is my main attacker in that fight with doomsday.
I prefer to fight him without the friendly creatures. Even then, I'd rather have white mages and 2 attackers for that fight. The only Issue I ave with Ozma is Meteor.

You just contradicted yourself saying Cinque was a useless player... NO NO NO NO!!! yes she maybe be slow and her attacks may miss at times, but when her attacks land she is OP far from useless just gotta know how to position her right.
And again Selphie far from useless and again yes her slots may be random but with the right timing you can get lucky and she can sometimes get you right out of tight situation. How DARE you say Selphie is useful... thats like saying Rikku's crafting is tedious and pointless.
The very first Double-AP, linked-slot weapon in the game is found in Kalm. Vincent isn't there to use it, and you can get double-AP weapons before you can get him, and only Cad has a Triple-AP weapon, but the Peacemaker is still an indication of what is to come: Vincent gets two of the four linked-slot double AP weapons, and two of the three 255 Accuracy weapons. This makes him a irreplaceable tool for some players, sections of the game, and playing his part in strategies that cannot be completed another way. For players that know what they are doing, there is no "wrong element", only the "you done f.cked up" element. Replacing Vincent, or Counterattack, Mug, or Chocobo materia, are tactical moves that no one should avoid, and no one need do permanently.

Selphie is one of those "You're not using her right" characters. She completely dominates the last boss (not Omega weapon), because she is your main healer (you know, when the boss loves breaking all of your Curaga spells?).
Step 1: Cast Aura on her. BOOM, Full-Cure almost always.
Step 2: Have someone summon Eden.
Step 3: You have lots and lots and lots of time to try to get The End on her slots.
Step 4: ???
Step 5: Profit!
As a character, Vincent sucks, he is just cool and emo and he barely has any depth or personality. Almost same goes for Amaranth, another tough guy, at least he isnt angst, but still one of the worst characters.

Something worth noting is that a lot of these worst characters either take a freakishly long time to make usable (Vincent) or rely exlusively on a luck-based (or rather, a strict RNG-based) system that, if exploited, could make them freakishly overpowered.
The one exception is Harley. Apparently, she was meant to be a Blue Mage, but for whatever reason, Square decided to scrap that concept, and yet did absolutely nothing to change her. It was to the point that she outright sucks.
In my opinion garnet is more useless than vivi. i mean why you will need 2 white mages?. and eiko has more whites mages, meanwhile garnet only has more summons, but these summons make the same damage than a normal zidane's attack does.
Mayks Spark I always want two white mages.
I would consider Garnet more of a Summoner with White Mage capabilities and Eiko a White Mage with Summoner capabilities. The reason why I choose Eiko over Garnet in my final party is because I need the better White Mage. I don't really use Summons in Final Fantasy IX because I just find a majority of them to be useless... Summons were much more useful in FFVIII or FFX...
