I love these 3rd gen 4Runners, they are some of my favorite trucks of all time. Like you said there really isn’t much to complain about with them, they’re just solid all around. When I was a Toyota tech years ago I’d regularly see 3rd gens with over 300k and they’d still be running and driving like new. One of my biggest automotive regrets was not buying my grandpa’s 1999 limited 4wd for $3000 back in 2017 when he replaced it with a Highlander.

These are my favorite gen 4Runners. I used to like the J80 Land Cruiser more but...they're sooo big.

I’m in Richmond Va as well, just bought a 02 SR5 Sport Edition last weekend, already started modding it, but only 155k all stock and drives amazing

My wife drives my 2004 4Runner. Super reliable. Bought mine for 8k 3 years ago. Has 177k miles and still running strong. I love my LR3 much better due to comfort reasons.

Currently selling my 01 SR5 4WD with almost 208k no rust in NC, sad but wanting a truck. 3rd gen is one of the few somewhat perfect vehicles IMO

I keep a 2000 SR5 in the driveway because if it ain't a 3rd Gen it's a Turd-Gen.
