First time I've heard this version......DMB was the first live concert I saw, he played for three hours and my buddy I went with who was a Dave head looked at me and said you just got spoiled, not every concert is like this.

I listen to how Dave sings Johns songs. It's kind of funny but I catch a tear and a smile , at least one of each When he is doing them. Probably because He has the same passion that john had and has SO much respect for his music that he dares even try this. I am not a big fan of covers, typically especially this extreme . It is unfortunate he forgot the words. I dont think you can honestly say it doesnt effect the song. Its a cover, and a great song lyrically. His guitar part for the verses was really nice. Gotta say though, its fucking John Lennon, Dave. You have to be prepared.
It’s alright, but not really Dave’s type of song. Lennon songs should be played with force like you’re attacking the strings, not gentle strums. “Make it f&@ken howl” as he put it. Listen to John’s acoustic version it was made with an old cassette recorder from the 70s and it’s still unparalleled. .
I'd be all over an album of Dave covering John Lennon songs.
