It's an absolute pleasure to work with these. Genius design, everything the man said is true.

I’d love to see a 22” version and/or even bigger. As a sprinkler fitter, we use smooth jaw 24” pipe wrench for some hose connections. I use the smaller versions for the smaller valves and sprinkler heads almost daily. They are the best by far. Can’t say enough good things about them.

More genius from this company. High quality products may seem expensive but will actually save you money in the end. Doing things cheap is always a false economy.

Hiya! My next-door neighbor Davy, is a machinist. He has industrial-looking equipment from the 1950's there in his shop downstairs. It is precision milling that I've seen him do with his mill lathe and a drill press type of equipment that can mill steel and such. It is so impressive to me to see him shave away that steel and fabricate components for motorcycles; from scratch!
As I'm looking around his shop, I found that he is using these KNIPEX® Box Joint Pump Pliers. They looked like they were old and beat-up, however worked just free and fine!
I was so fascinated by the Box Joint on these pliers, I went to SEARS and bought the same model pair:
    KNIPEX® Alligator® adjustable Pump Pliers Model #: 88 01 250
I have a decent understanding of how the two pieces are slipped one-into-the-other while the metal is still hot enough to be malleable and then a further forging and tempering process is done.
I am thinking that these pliers consist of only TWO (2) pieces of metal to make them up to be what they are.
I have read on the KNIPEX website how the "pivot" is usually a "rivet" on many pliers; adjustable or not. I suppose the "pivot" on the 88 01 250 (and the other sizes) could be a "third/ 3rd" piece; somehow forged, or pressed; and then re-forged or re-tempered; somehow.
Upon close examination of this tool, it appears as thought there is a third "rivot", if you will, because of the round shape around where the pivot pin is. this is only detectable on the one side. The other side appears as though it is jut one piece.
Summary/Question: Are the KNIPEX® Pump pliers with the Box Joint just two pieces: one half had the "pivot" forged into it, and the piece with the slit, making it adjustable, is the other half?
I like all of your videos and your company KNIPEX® is making very impressive tradesman tools that I am investing in. Thank-you!

I used these daily on aircraft
    1. Jaws are polished smooth
    2. No round off
    3. Parts in remote spots don't fall
    4. The relaxed slip back acts like a ratchet
    5. Low profile!

It makes adjustable wrenches look like a joke!!!!! Having to spin a little dial to open and close the jaw is a waste of time! Not only that but the adjustable dial always slips open and never GRIPS! These pliers however rock!!! Buying the whole wrench plier set!

Could you think about making these with the smart grip. I find the adjustment is hard to find sizes be allot easier if it was self adjusting as a plumber.

Dear Knipex, I'm very disappointed with the 10 inch version I bought recently due to the following:
    1. The size of the thumb operated button cap is not wide enough for my normal sized thumb [apply a much larger cap].
    2. It is near impossible to fully depress the button to allow jaw slide working below a demonstration workbench or with my work gloves on [resolve button travel to a minimum].
    3. You demonstrate adjustment to a fastener with the jaws mostly open. Fine. However, you need to adjust with the jaws near closed to avoid the approx. 1cm jaw travel to get the handles closed for optimum hand leverage with a closed fist, not an open hand.
4.Also, you would likely compress/deform a softer fastener with the massive clamping force to close the handles.
5.Finally, why not allow an owner to change over the thumbe operated button from one side of the handle to the other to allow natural left hander use? Put an additional screw hole and matching recess on other side of the retaining spring plate.
