Thanks for the education. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ve worn Shalimar since my 20’s and began wearing L’Heure Bleue in my 50’s. Guerlain fragrances are something special!
Great review. L’Heure Bleue was released the same year the Titanic sank. I often wonder if any of the (first class) passengers wore this perfume. I’m confident that the scent of Jicky would of been there.
Thank you for the kind words. The gents from. “wafts from the loft” do a great video talking about Guerlain and mentioned that, based on the time, people must have been wearing the early Guerlain scents. Chilling. I think it’s astounding that Shalimar turns 100 this year. While it wasn’t released until a few years later, it was first produced 100 years ago!
I love the thing about the dna cause as you say, every Guerlain has it, Even the new l’homme ideals! Wich are really modern sweet smelling but they got that tiny vintage DNA, i only have Guerlain vetiver and it got the same feel (that maybe is that DNA..) of nostalgia, it got that black and white france in the 60s feel in some very weird but beautiful way! ❤️❤️❤️
'A woman's undercarriage is a many-splendoured thing' 😂 so true. I'm eagerly awaiting a sample. I love both the Violet-Iris of Insolence and the vanillic incense-powder drydown of Shalimar and hope to find something combining both. Or at least an interesting experience. Thanks for the review 💙
So fascinating..you are like a docent in a museum. Appreciate your knowledge and explanations. Btw I've heard that that heure blue was a big favorite of Brigitte Bardot. Do you know anything about that or whether it's true? Thank you.
Thank you for the lovely post! That’s funny you mention they because I work in an art museum! :) I found a few resources online that suggest that Brigette Bardot wears another Guerlain classic, Jicky! Best to you!
@@savorsalvagescent2300 That's interesting. I wonder if she's always worn it since her movie days or just more recently? Here's an idea..how about doing a video with her on perfumes and her opinion on them, etc.? That would be the coolest! She fascinates me.
Awesome review. I love L'Heure Bleue. I came across your channel because I was looking for a comparison between LB edp and Insolence edp. To me they are like cousins. I can't get enough of the iris and violet notes.
Kathy Witter nice time “meet” you and thanks for the lovely feedback. So agree w/ you that they are cousins. They both have the powdery Guerlain DNA! I love iris, too.
i adore Guerlain, my first top is Idyle , and then Samsara, Mon Guerlain, as well heure Bleu and Shalimar .. well all i love its that as u said ADN at the base which suits me .. :)
Loved reading this! A great list of stunning perfumes you have added here, I adore them all except I haven’t yet tried Idyle, and Guerlain is my favorite house, so I need to! Best to you.
Great review! I love LB so much.. It's so comforting and other-worldly. I'm also a huge fan of Mitsouko when I don't want to feel so... reserved/melancholy
TackyAki can you believe I don’t own Mitsouko? Insane. I’m literally inspired to buy it right now de to your mention! Any other Guerlain you love most? Thank you for your kind feedback + hope you will stay in touch!
@@savorsalvagescent2300 oh my gosh Mitsouko is so good. (I have the EdT, have not tried EdP yet). To me it's slightly more wearable than LB because it's not as melancholy. LB can feel a bit sad, or similar mood to an overcast day to me. It's not as sexy as Shalimar, which I love because it's the perfect balance between the two scents. I compare it to opening a friend's box of tea assortments - intriguing, spicy, herbal.... LB's drydown is vanilla-ish, and Mitsouko is earthy, oakmoss-y, and almost swamp-like in the best possible way.. but yes they are similar because of that Guerlain DNA.....omg get it lol
Could you possibly talk about ingredients and what ingredients have changed in the reformulation of L'Heure Bleue? I would love to be able to smell the original formulations.
Eloisa!! I am not surprised you live this one knowing how much you love powder + carnation! So nice. Have you tried Chamade? Another powdery Guerlain gem! XOXO.
I applied some LHB edt from a decant as I watched this😄. I’m thinking that Coty L’Origan (1905) was sort of what this was patterned after. There’s some sort of tie there. My grandmother (1903-1998) only wore the Coty one her entire life. As I put on LHB edt just now, all I can smell is Coty LO. I can’t wait to watch your video about going to the Guerlain store. My signature is Mitsouko edp. It is simply intoxicating!!!
Love this! I haven’t experienced enough Coty perfumes (though I have 2 cats, one named Coty, one Paris). Thanks for this inspiration. Mitsouko, what a signature scent! Thanks also for reminding me to do a video about visiting Guerlain. Pls stay in touch!
Excellent. Thank you for a great, informative review. What I get mostly is an almost smokey, incensey note which I love. So that would be benzoin? I've been trying to figure that out!
walker328 - thank you!! Yes, very smoky especially at first. It could also be opoponax/myrrh, tonka, Amber, Vanilla, or another chemical composition they use. Best to you!
Shibi Kuriakose thank you for the kind feedback! They are similar in that they are both powdery, but Insolence is way more candied-Violet and iris, to me. I actually think L’Heure Bleue is even more medicinal so it might not be for you. Have you tried Mon Guerlain or other more modern Guerlains?
And very interesting history omg u know how gwenyth paltorw says this candle smells like her vagina Guerlain was like this smells like my mistresses’ undercarriage
I love L'heure bleue from the first sniff. So dreamy, so melancholic in a positive way.
Absolutely agree! Love your description.
I am definitely buying L’Heure Bleue, blindly, because of your video.
Hello + thanks for your post! I can’t wait to hear what you think of it!
My absolute favourite fragrance! I’m the only gentleman I know who wears it but I can’t get enough!

Wonderful review! You are very beautiful and I love your hairstyle!
Ana Cabral you are so kind + lovely! Thank you for your encouraging feedback. Please stay in touch.
Another great video. I love the history that you provide about each perfume. It seems like oud is the civet of today's perfumes.
Thank you so much! I think you are spot on with the civit-to-oud comparison! Hope you are well.

L'Heure Bleue is for me a masterpiece , it's heaven in a bottle , a great discovery ....

What a great idea! If I ever get my hands on the vintage scent (I own a vintage flask but the scent itself is newish) I will do so.
I adore this perfume! Is a true gem🌸 Guerlain is just the best of the best. LHB is so complex, carnation and tuberose, my jam! Kisses Amy🌸
