This should be the benchmark for all professional artists, excellent version...and of course Pete Thomas, restrained, understated, and solid as ever...thank you EC and your sublime band.
Every time I fear his voice or skill level is dropping due to age he knocks it out of the ball park with a great performance. I was just listening to 1980's Elvis UA-cam when I came across this. Yes he has changed but he is still amazing. As is the whole band, Steve, Pete, Dave (thank you Dave for doing a great job, better than Bruce could) and Charlie.
Dave doesn't get enough love! He plays some busy basslines while harmonizing with Elvis, which gives the sound a fuller tone. Back when they had no back up singers they couldn't replicate the intricate vocal arrangements Elvis made on the albums.
Such beautiful sweet words. He should go to her, take her in his arms an tell her in person. That's what true love is all about. Bet she still cares about him but is afraid she isn't good enough for him. Thanks xoxo
I love this very much. I couldn’t help but notice that he pronounces “perfect world” the way his wife would. She seems to love to hit the R her Rs real haRRRd. It’s sort of her signature to me.
I believe the man's voice may in fact be in better shape now than ever. He reaches all the notes and then some, all while playing fantastic guitar. His new album proves this out.
I like it and really appreciate the extra soulful vocals, but nothing beats the original studio version! I was surprised to read that EC is not fond of the record. I consider it one of the best produced hit singles of the '80s.
Absolutly stunning band. Respect100%
"In a perfect world where everyone is equal, I'd still own the film rights and be working on the sequel..." one of my favorite lyrics of his...
Wow!
Am back!
My All Time Fav' E.C. tune!!! Man this version is GOLD!
This should be the benchmark for all professional artists, excellent version...and of course Pete Thomas, restrained, understated, and solid as ever...thank you EC and your sublime band.
This is such an impeccable performance of this classic tune.
Probably his best performance of this song ….genius
Man, what a beautiful voice, still! He’s just amazing. ❤️

That's the best I heard elvis sing in a while.
I'm sorry but this song is so beautiful. I know you don't like it, but this is so wonderful.
I couldn't love this anymore possible! It's fantastic!
you mean any more (possibly any more than I do)?
This and Ron Sexsmith's version are my favorites.
This is wonderful. Everyone just relaxing totally into the song knowing they have 100% control over how they want it to sound. Masterclass.

@@patriciofernandez2711 Yes! His harmonizing just fits in so nicely. Either Side of the Same Town from The Delivery Man really showcases it.
absolutely FANTASTIC to have stumbled on this version MELLO
Fantastic Elvis! A great live version...
magnifique chanson..tout les jours..
Nothing compares to the original studio take, but this is quite lovely. Nobody sings like Costello … Steve/Pete look great too 🎹 🥁
Cool, different arrangement of the song, more of a ballad, feels more sincere, also he crushed it on those long notes
It's a perfect song.
I was skeptical of this version and, frankly, didn't enjoy it as much live a few weeks ago, but I get it now and this is bloody marvelous!
Just stunning
Wow, this is an astounding rearrengement. Elvis is a master singer and the band lays down pure magic. Relaxed, sorrowful yet soulful. Bravo EC!
Awesome! Thanks Elvis 😊

He is so good!
Hello
Superb! A really nice spin on the 1983 original.
Such beautiful sweet words. He should go to her, take her in his arms an tell her in person. That's what true love is all about. Bet she still cares about him but is afraid she isn't good enough for him. Thanks xoxo

Excellent!
Elvis looks like my uncle who always be the host of every party

His singing here and on his most recent album The Boy Named If is terrific. In concert not quite so much these days, alas. I still go, though!
everyday i wish i could write the poetry book. it's been shelved in some underwater dream.
Charlie Sexton.....Legend

I agree- arrangement and lyrics are phenomenal! The song is an important thread in the fabric of 80’s music❤
le meilleur !
Wonderful
You were my late teens defined
Probably my third favorite version, behind his Merseybeat version and Ron Sexsmith's version. Still miles ahead of the original version.
Ameiiiiiiiiiii

I know it's a morning show but EC could have changed out of his pyjamas, surely?
Declan needs a sunglasses intervention
I love Elivis but this is a weird rendition.
