I'm curious if the increased longevity of the product outweighs the huge amount of energy required to process the wood.

I mean companies are already are cooking wood when theyre making KD lumber so its not significantly more expensive or intensive to make. TM wood though loses all of its UV stability & loses like 10%+ of its strength from removing the moisture and oils. Realistically its more of something thats useful to replace aesthetic components like siding at this time imo.
