- For four decades Rick Steves has introduced many to the pleasures of international travel, through his popular PBS series, specials and guidebooks. During the pandemic, correspondent Conor Knighton learns, the man who has canvassed Europe's best- and least-known tourist sites has learned the simple pleasures gained in an unfamiliar destination: his own kitchen.

Same here. I just love watching Rick, and the great places he travels to. I remember I met him at a travel show at a convention center near my house. He gave a lecture on how to travel smartly. After the lecture, he gave autographs, and took pictures. I got his autograph, and took a picture with him. Such a nice guy

@@ritahorvath8207 Before the pandemic I used to say. " I'm going to Europe every year until I can't." Now just going for groceries with a mask is a lot. My glasses steamed up, I took them off and lost them in the market! UGH.

This guy is up there with Mr. Rodgers, in levels of delightfulness. I know i can never afford to see the world Steve's witness, but i appreciate that he is passionate enough about his work to film it and teach us the beauty in travel.
Never say never!!! If you really want that travel life? It’s possible! You just have to travel smart and follow what his advice! Don’t go for the tourist places but go and merge with the locals :D I’ve done it and I’m only 25 with a entry level job haha 😂
When you can't afford to travel abroad especially around Europe, this guy is the answer. I watched most of his travel videos and enjoyed each destination. Power on Mr. Rick Steves.

What a beautiful soul he is. I have lived Europe through for over 20 years, and when I finally got to go in 2017,2018, and 2019 my husband and brother were baffled at how much I knew about the places we visited. Listening to him playing Taps on his trumpet made tears well up in my eyes. Thank you Rick Steves. I will “keep on traveling” as soon as I can.

I'm a nature guide in my homeland and a national park. First time in the last 20 years I did not get to see the orchids bloom in summer. Also, zero income for over a year. Never ever been more depressed and lost in my entire life ... this gave me so much joy to see. There's a lot to do, but with two kids locked at home it has been impossible. Guess Ill find the way!

Rick has done a great service to the world with his programs, books and other achievements. It was a shame his first marriage ended in divorce. I loved the first shows that showed Ann and his children. Thank you Rick Steves for all you have done!

I love Rick Steves. We read the guide books for years and travelled to Italy based on his recommendations. Met other people on the path between towns in the Cinque Terre carrying his books as well. Later I attended one of his travel fairs and lectures in Edmonds. Now, to my own amazement, I'm in Thailand. I never would have thought it, but Rick's sense of discovery in travel permeated through all of us in the Seattle area and around the USA. He's definitely had an impact on my life and I still try to keep tabs on him from afar.
I am almost obsessed with Rick Steves. I have had a dream since I was little to travel to Europe. It’s just amazing to see all these great places, and learn so much about them. The first place I would visit would be Germany. From what I’ve seen in the Rick Steves episodes I have watched, the German people seem really nice, and have a great knowledge of what to do and see, and have so much to say about their country’s history

I love your program! I am so thankful for these carefully selected horizons where we can pause, rest and view a guaranteed facet of beautiful. Great trumpet performance btw.
For the last 6 months I’ve been streaming his shows and traveling vicariously thru him. I also caught a thoughtful and cautionary special he did on the rise of Fascism in pre-WW2 Europe; which I think was an amazing public service. Lastly, the fact he still pays his staff is amazingly great as both a businessman and human being. Good on him!
His trumpet brought tears to my eyes. Let's hope this pandemic will end soon, so we can enjoy Mr Steves documentaries again.

Same here. Rick is a phenomenal man with a great mind, and a very warm heart. I have always wanted to travel to Europe since I was young. In June I’m going to Europe with some family, and I can’t wait! We’re going to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland for two weeks
I have always been a huge fan of Rick Steves. I met him at a travel show a few years ago. Such a great man with a lot of information about Europe. Since I was little, I have had a dream to travel to Europe. See the Eiffel Tower in France, the Black Forest in Germany, and many other exciting places. Its been on my bucket list for a long time
I absolutely enjoy his travel show, everytime I'm searching for something to watch and I happen to catch it , I watch it. it is very entertaining and interesting to hear his voice narrate it .

European travel was off limits recreationally in WWII and WWI as well. Our later generations have just gotten used to being able to enjoy travelling freely.
