I'M BACK!! I've missed you guys so much!🥺💖
I filmed this craaazy week in my life working seven 12 hour night shifts in a row back in May & wanted to share it with you guys. Better late than never right hehehe. I unintentionally took a break from UA-cam this past summer (sorry bout that) BUT I'm back & more excited than ever to continue sharing bits & pieces of my life as a registered nurse in the emergency department!

omg SEVEN 12 hour shifts in a row?! You deserve an award! Also happy to see your vlogs again!
Djk35 💐🌹💐😘🥰💐❤❤❤you
It takes SO much for someone to own up and be so open and real. Nursing is not for the weak and just know you made a difference in that moment. Fellow nurse here sending you lots of love!
Thank you so much! & right back at ya
thats why i am torn in thinking when it comes to figure out if i am strong enough to be a nurse
Thank you for keeping things so honest and real. I feel like most nurse-tubers show the good and how they spend their off time instead of talking about real-life situations and how shifts can beat you down. Obviously you don't want to talk about only the bad either, but life is a balance in every aspect. You are doing your best and that's what matters. Sending love and light your way!
Thank you Angela! Sending love & light right back at you
We appreciate you as a nurse we need nurses without nurses the world would fail 🙏🏼🫶🏽💕💕💕
I'm an RVN and I always work 7, 13-hour night shifts in a row. I have a 7 on, 14 off schedule. It was nice to see someone else do it and realize it's very hard to do. I work over 90 hours in that week. Its easy to forget that cause it's only 7 days. It's very tiring and make sure you take adequate rest before doing it again. My 14 nights off are definitely needed!
Wow that's impressive! Those 14 days off are well deserved!
@@SierraLyn Thanks! I think the hardest part is not having any time off between shifts. All I do is work and sleep in those days. But I make up for it in my time off 🥰
The clip after talking about your difficult shift straight into the clip of packing your stuff for the next shift was really powerful and shows just why nursing is so difficult and draining
I really appreciate that you vlogged your most vulnerable moment on your drive home. I felt this last week- I work in peds and CRIED all my way home. I see you 💕 sending you all my love! This is truly a hard job but also very rewarding 🥹 you’re doing amazing
I love how positive and upbeat you are! Please know what you do is so important and appreciated! ❤
We appreciate you as a nurse
💕
I love your videos so much. You can tell how much of a great nurse you are and you always spread positivity that I am sure is so rewarding to be around especially as hard as this job is. Thank you for spreading your kindness and compassion 💓
Thank you for being a nurse I appreciate all nurses 🙏
You are a great nurse!
Just you showing you truly care about your patients ❤
Just show how great of a human you are. I wish my mom had you as a nurse. Her ER nurses could care less that she was dying. We never imagine we get such a diagnosis that day. It was devastating experience. Still hurts me the way they treated her.
Now she is a better place, where there is no pain ❤
Sooo happy you’re back!!:) gonna watch now!
Missed your videos! I love watching the perspective of a new grad, I will be one soon so it helps to have an honest person giving their perspective.
I love how nice and stocked your fridge is! I had to go back and pause the video like what that's so cool with all the drinks 😊
I love your videos!! you're so honest that made me so drawn with your channel. I can relate with the night shift struggle. I work as a Clinical lab scientist in the hospital been on night shifts for 3 months now but I've only been doing 8 hrs and I don't feel like a have an actual life besides work with that schedule seeing your vuideos got me having an idea of doing 10 or 12 hours shifts now so I could have a somehow a week off I just wanna have a work life balance. Your videos just makes me happy!! I hope you continue making more night shift videos :)
You go girl! I hardly do my 3 in a row because it’s so hard on me, I couldn’t imagine 7!
In almost every field its easy to get Jaded. You see the same thing day in and day out, you figure out how to help that it becomes “dull” in a sense you don’t mean to be that way but you literally know the outcome. Dont beat yourself up about it, its not your fault and you all did the best you could ❤
Thank for sharing. Well deserved camping vacation. It looked beautiful out there. Enjoy
Missed your uploads! Glad to see you back on here.
Enjoy your mini vacay! Well deserved!
It's nice to see the raw moment you shared as hard as it was to watch. People who don't work in healthcare never understand this. It's absolutely devastating and what's even harder is we have to get up and do it all again day after day. It's a massive privilege but also traumatic. We do become desensitised to it as we have to to cope but moments like this are important to reflect on to remind us of why we became nurses xx
I loved this video. So raw. Nursing is very hard but I like what you said although it’s hard for you imagine how hard it’s for the patient.
Hi, I hear you loud and clear! I am a hospice nurse and I go through this all the time. Stay strong!! You're awesome!!!
❤️ takes a special soul to work hospice!
It’ll get better keep your head up 🙏🏼
I’ve missed you, welcome back 😭
You are amazing and wonderful❤️your patients are very lucky to have an awesome nurse with such a kind heart❤️
Thanks for your honesty and opening up about how hard nursing is! This really helped me to not feel alone as a fellow newer grad nurse working at a hospital❤️
We’re in this together
This was a raw and beautiful video. Thank you for showing us your life. ♥️
❤️
Seriously love how you show the raw emotion of nursing because not a lot of people do it! And I love your content 🩵
Thank you so much!
I love your videos! You are very raw and real in sharing the highs and lows of healthcare. I too work emergency medicine but from the back of an ambulance as a new paramedic. I can definitely relate with your experiences with rapidly deteriorating patients. It's nice to know we all go through similar battles. Your positive attitude reminds me to always be grateful for the job we get to do and the people we get to serve. ❤
Absolutely! So elegantly worded! Congratulations on becoming a paramedic!
Seven 12’s is insane! Look at you go. Take care of yourself too❤
You’re back 🥹 I’ve been searching your name seeing if new content has been posted, even looked this morning. Love watching you while I get ready. I was nervous something happened to you. ❤
Aw you're too sweet! All is well, I just took some time off this summer
omg so cute, the fact that your fur baby stayed on your bed all night because it wasnt too hot LOL. I'd say the bed sheets are a win :)
Holy moly that’s so wild and amazing you can do that. I’ve been in medical telemetry for a few weeks and I already don’t like it the craziness of being pulled in every direction non stop, I can’t imagine the ER
Finally a new upload, not going to lie I started watching you cause I really wanted to be an ED nurse, and I applied and got the job. I have been watching your journey and I can finally relate. It’s fascinating to see how you manage your time and life so balanced even through difficult shifts. Hopefully you can continue to upload in the free time you have your videos is just inspiring me to keep going and just to take it day by day. Just finished my week 2 on the floor and yep it gets overwhelming sometimes.
Thank you for your sweet words & congratulations on getting the job in the ED! You're going to learn & grow so much in this next year! 🤍
Your such a lovely human ❤ it looked beautiful where you went camping 🏕 your videos always make me smile especially camper 🐕 keep being amazing
Welcome back!!!
Thank you!
I’m so not ready for what’s to come but it’s what I want to do I just hope I stay focused and keep a positive mindset
Your dog is so precious!
You have a great voice for narration and podcast ❤
Jesus I barely can with my schedule! You did amazing
Thank you for sharing! So inspirational. I can definitely appreciate how hard these shifts are😣😣 I’m a GI fellow and in fellowship and residency have had to work 7 nights in a row and go straight back to 13 hour days with sometimes not even one day off in between :((
That’s amazing, four knocks me out! But the overtime, bonus incentive, and holiday pay probably made it worth it!!!!! 🎉
Look at that lake view❤❤
Girl this is just insane! I am a special needs caregiver and my shifts are half of what yours are. It drains me so much mentally and physically I cannot imagine how exhausted you are. It truly feels like I work 12 hours with how engaged I have to be. Yours must feel so dang long. You are amazing! ❤
You’re killing it! 4 is my max or I’m ready to put myself in one of our psych rooms in our ED. I had a few of the worst shifts of my career recently where I have had some really scary moments with patients that were fine and then not fine. It’s so hard and the only people who understand are our fellow healthcare workers. Lean on them! ❤️
Also, so happy you are back! I missed your videos!
Thank you so much for sharing Kyla! We’re all in this together thankfully. Happy to be back too
Hahaha psych room in the ED. Yup.
I missed you ❤
i am very happy to see your vlogs! i was torn with the idea of being a nurse or not, i think i may volunteer at a hospital in the summer to see what a nursing job is like in the real life.this may help me think if i really think if nursing is a good fit for me or not
I used to do the 3 on, 1 off, 3 on when I worked night shifts. I NEEDED that one day off to just sleep! I can’t believe you could do 7 in a row 😳
oh how much I've missed your vlogsss🥹🥹✨
💛
OMG you're back!!!! Was a little worried if everything was ok
All good over here
@@SierraLyn 💛🙏
Seeing this posted made my year!! Just started nursing school this week… this was exactly the motivation I needed!! 🫶🏼🫶🏼 You’re doing amazing Sierra thank you for sharing!!
Congrats on starting nursing school, you're going to do great!
Yea I need 3 alarms!!! Too
IVE MISSED YOU !!
Missed you😭
I absolutely love your videos, and you have been such an inspiration for me! I will start nursing school in January if I am accepted. ❤️
I too work 3 on, 1 off, 3 on. Legit sleep all day on my day off and then have to mentally prepare for another 3 in a row 😅
The mental preparation is a real thing😂
New grad ICU nurse here. It’s scary for me too 😂 but I’m used to it now at least
7 😳 oh my god never could I do that. While I do get into a rhythm with it I don't sleep well during the day. The 2nd night is my hardest xx
Here to say I love the kitchen ! Lol
I used to work ER level 1 night shift. It was so so rough and people don't understand it unless you've done it.
Amen!
I just finished my 6 in a row and now have 8 days off!
WELL DESERVED👏
7! Oh helllll no 4 max
Just started as a new nurse in an ER. Doing orientation during the days to learn more but then will be there nights…. Learning curve is rough
It definitely is! But it’s amazing how much you can grow in such a short period of time, you got this!
Hi Sierra, my name is Jessica Walker, and I'm a nursing student in Los Angeles. You are working seven 12 hour night shifts in a row that money will look really really nice around Christmas time
I’m an RT, I could never do that many. Especially not on nights lol. I’m also dealing with chronic pain, and barely get through my 3 12’s. I try to pick up extra though for extra money, if I’m feeling ok that week.
RTs are our heroes!!
I missed your videos terribly 😢
🤍
I love all your videos ❤️🩷🙌🏾 Can you come and have a vacation in Fiji 🇫🇯 Kinda wanna meet you for real 😢❤❤❤
Kind/brand of pillows do you use, please?? 🙃
7!!! 😵
Also, seeing the things we see as healthcare providers is rough, for real
All in this together!
I could never work that many shifts in a row. I work in adult medsurg right now (just hit my one-year mark as a nurse) and I do not like it all that much, so that is probably why the thought of working more than 3-4 days in a row sounds terrible, lol. I want to move on to the ER soon.
ER is the best!
I am working ER nights for my clinicals next semester!! Any tips??
I'm so glad to see an update from you!! I'm on my last year of nursing school and want to be in the ED so bad!! Thank you for being so inspiring and thank you for always sharing things you could do better on. 🤎🤎
One year to go, ahhh that's SO exciting! I have faith you'll get your dream position in the ER, you got this!
where did you get your howdy sweatshirt from??? ive been looking all over google haha
so very random, but where did you get your shower curtain from? it’s soo cute!
Right?! It’s from a company called Natural Life!
She is fully stocked in her fridge with the olipops and the celcius energy drinks!!! 😮
Lolol
Camper 🥰 🐕 😘
Where can I get that sweatshirt?!
I start nursing school October 3rd Wish me luck, do you think male nurses have any advantages/disadvantages?
Where did you get your pink howdy crewneck?!?! 😍
I got it at a local boutique in Oregon!
What nail shape are you doing and how short are they? Are you still able to get dip or acrylic as a nurse?
I just ask for short & round! I get either gel or dip polish but have been loving dip because it lasts longer & doesn't chip!
Where did you go camping? Beautiful spot!!
Willow Lake in OR!
What does your employer think of your UA-cam channel?
Also what state do you live in cause it looks absolutely breathtaking and beautiful!
OR!
7? Anything after 4 I’m ready to check myself into the hospital as a patient 😂
Hahaha definitely relatable😂
Hi sierra how are you!!!!!❤❤
Stella! I miss you! 💛💛💛
@@SierraLyn I miss you too!!!❤❤
I can't even force myself to do one more ! How do you do it!! What is your secret!
I'm currently getting my prerequisites done at a community college to apply to a nursing program. Did you get your ADN OR BSN? I'm hearing conflicting comments on those degrees. Some say to go straight for the BNS. My plan was to get my ADN to become a nurse and continue my education, and receive my BSN.
Commenting to be notified if someone answers, I’m debating the same right now.
I went to community college and got my ADN first. A year later I did an online RN-BSN program and got my BSN. I would say it depends if you want the full college experience and are no rush in getting your degree go for the BSN. If you don’t care so much about the college experience and want to start working as a nurse sooner go for your ADN. I wanted to start working as a nurse faster so I went with my ADN and got nursing experience while getting my BSN at the same time. I would just recommend getting your BSN sooner than later if it’s something that you want to do.
ADN! You can begin working as a registered nurse sooner & then get your BSN online while you're working. A lot of hospitals offer tuition reimbursement too! That has just been the better path for me!
I would love a skin care and work makeup routine!! Your sun kissed look is perfection
Also which city/state is this in?
Out of curiosity what do u do with camper? Does he do fine alone at home
My parents help watch him!
I will do 5 and that's my max or I'm the next pt lol
Hahaha I feel that in my soul😅
those night shifts are a killer, but pays off
where is your howdy sweatshirt from?
I got it at a local boutique & can’t find it anywhere online to link it for you😢
It’s so cute !! Love it!!!
Oh girl… I felt that moment on the way home. I’m an oncology nurse… even though a majority of my patients are near the end we still have super fast declines and special connections with patients that I know I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life. Thank you for being so honest on here. 🫶🏻
How long do you see yourself working in the ER?
Atleast the next couple of years!
Hopefully by choice
Absolutely!
I work overnight at a hospital too. Don't want to see those ER nurses overworked.!
🗣️🗣️🗣️🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
@Sierra Lynn Hi there. 👋🏽 7th grade ELA teacher checking in. Do feel the switch from education to nursing is worth it? Is the NCLEX similar to the demands of the PRAIS?
