I have a friend with psychosis and Flowey is their favourite character because he's psychotic, too. Granted, Flowey is a stereotypical psychopath, the heartless, murdery kind, whereas most psychopaths simply don't feel emotion. They don't connect on any empathic level with other people. There's no love there. Most know that it's obvious it's bad to kill people, but regardless, there's no connection. That's Flowey. Showing one of the most misunderstood sides of mental illness. Well...as we go further into Flowey’s psyche, he went from being a sheltered, overly-accommodating prince to being an accomplice to Chara’s suicide, being murdered, and when reawakening as a flower, no one coming when he cried for help. He went from being surrounded by love in himself and in people around him to being completely alone and cut off (and with super powers). Psychotic people like your friend have others around them to connect with, at least on an intellectual/social level, if not emotional. Flowey has no one (albeit by choice), and additionally riddled with trauma. Looking at all this, I don’t think Toby is perpetuating any stereotypes.
This is great! It shows so well in pictures how Flowey spent time with his father and mother but couldn't feel any positive emotions. Flowey explained this on a Genocide run when walking through Asgore's house.
This it actually kinda how I feel and the only I can see a true ending for him. Frisk is really the only one who can close understand what Flowey/Asriel is feeling aside from Chara. As they themselves were the vessel of the player that was filling them determination allowing them to reset and persevere. As well was the only people aside from the player that Asriel didnt erase of their memorys of who he really was and what they both experienced.

MysticalMystery they're not real emotions, they're mock emotions meaning that Asriel/flowey can only feel things that Asriel could feel as strong emotions such as fear and anger before he turned into a flower.
Faith Owen then couldnt he also feel extreme joy, happiness and love too? Unless he can only feel death instinct related emotions.
MysticalMystery He cannot feel love, that's all. And true happiness have been proven to be related to love. So a life without love will essentially drive you crazy. You will start to search a little seed of happiness everywhere that you can, just for continue to survive. Even if that seed is... Killing. After all, love os something that you don't understand. So killing someone in real life is like killing a goomba in Mario. Just... Who care, anyway? I think that's what happens to Flowey. But hey, that's just a theory! A Undertale theory!
