fun facts from a ex-fixer upper fanatic: jimmy don is the metal worker that joanna used in the show while clint harp is the woodworker who made all of her custom wood pieces (including the tables you mentioned). clint closed his furniture business last year so he doesn't have a physical store in the magnolia square, but he does have a tv show on the magnolia network (like you said, they've done everything.) the little plant store in the magnolia square is actually owned by joanna's sister! not only that, she *also* has her own show focused on her plant store on the magnolia network. the silos did exist before joanna and chip bought them, which came with the surrounding empty lot you were standing on at the beginning of the video. at first it just included the main store, the bake shop, and the food trucks. a couple years later they expanded into the entire block by adding the little community of shops, the coffee shop, the baseball field, and the church! the church was abandonded and they relocated the entire building onto their property, obviously documenting it all on an hgtv special.
Your fits are fr unmatched, I would loove to see some clothing related content in the future! Maybe like “putting together outfits based on interiors” so it’s still design related?
I got Pleasantville vibes looking at Magnolia-land. Too commercial for me. Thanks for giving us the lowdown on Waco’s tourist destination. I’m with you and Kate-I prefer vintage.
All I can say is this video made me smile and sometimes really giggle! You are so full of fun and just crack me up!! Love those tall candle holders you purchased.
I'm anti astro turf but in Texas grass is probably soooooooooo much of a water suck that astro turf is maybe a better choice? wouldve been cool to see like a native plant meadow vibes tho
Ok so tips for Round Top (even tho you’re already gone) Go during the spring & fall “Antiques Week”, it’d miiiiiiiiles of thrifting, and if you go on the last few days people want to get rid of their stuff and they are up to haggle. But don’t actually go to Round Top, that’s where all the rich snobby people go, you have to go to Warrenton, the town like 2 miles down the road and go to the giant open fields full of vendors and crusty old barns that’s where the heat is. There’s usually good parking behind St. John’s Church for $5 and they have good brisket sandwiches too.
Got a kick out of Paige putting the Magnolia magnet and photo booth pics of the 4 of them on the fridge back home! Idea for another video in this new series: the last-standing Frank Lloyd Wright hotel is in northern Iowa. Maybe fly out, rent an SUV, stay in hotel, and then go antiquing on drive back to parents' place in Chicago? Love the spontaneity on this channel!
I was pleasantly surprised also when I went to the Silos and the Magnolia shops. Everything feels nicely done, even if it does lean a bit „ Target.“ The best of Target is pretty good! The spiral of the little town feel IS a little Disneyland! I went by myself and had a lot of fun. Glad you took our advice and checked it out!
I'm a Wacoan who worked at Magnolia 3 1/2 years and would have gladly given you a tour of whatever you wanted plus a beer at the Backyard or Pivovar. Things are so very quiet now with the economy so stinky. A good time to visit.
This was great fun. Ideas for future: what about historic homes throughout the country? Everything from Victorian to Frank Lloyd Wright. Would love to see your takes. Also, keep bringing Kate along for filming, just make sure she shows her face every now and again - and mic her!
Welcome to Texas. Had no idea Chip and Joanna Gaines had a village. It felt like Target meets Pottery Barn. $3000 for an antique table is way over priced for what it is. In Sam Antonio, you can find them at Salvation Army and Goodwill stores. Sounds like they’re really trying to make a hard buck for vintage antiques.
I went to Baylor for college over two years ago but I would have DIED running into you romping around Magnolia and the Grease pit (what we called the area where Whataburger and Dutch bros is). Loved getting to witness your Magnolia appreciation and snippets of antique gold (much of what I loved design-wise while living in Texas)!!!
How about when filming in public, just filming more of the stuff you are looking at and not necessarily filming you talking, if that is the most uncomfortable part. Then we would see more of what you are seeing and you could maybe do a bit of voice over afterwords. Just an idea. Cuz it def. feels like you are rushing because you don't like to be on camera in public. And I do get that, I would also not love to be on camera talking in public.
Love your videos! Maybe a way around feeling uncomfortable filming in public is to silently film visual footage and then do a sit down with Kate and talk about what you saw…
That was definitely fun! I agree with the other poster who said, film stuff and voice over later if you are self conscious. Beer spa? I don't know that I would want to soak in beer, but damn those copper tubs are fire!
One of my favorite household items is the mug I bought from there. The handle is utter perfection, it’s so comfortable. I think the mugs are made locally too
I had fallen asleep when this video rolled into my dream. I was already revisiting the art school I attended in San Francisco and ran into you on campus. Apparently I was trying to show you around San Francisco but you kept saying how uncomfortable you were filming. 😂😂😂
Ideas for trips: Hearst Castle and Solvang. Also, dying to know what brand of boots you were wearing (the black ones you wore with the white jeans). Love them!!!
Some of my favorite interior design people have been going to Round Top lately, which is about a half hour from me, and it's so cool to see it getting some recognition! It can get the reputation as the boozy weekend trip for rich white ladies and their big hats so it's fun to see some of my design idols checking it out for the actual pieces.
If you ever do this again I hope you keep the live audio. I know there were a lot of voice over suggestions but honestly, your thoughts then and there were great. Loved this
Loved this!! If you want feedback I have a few suggestions for what I would've liked more of. 1. A bit more of an outline/plan of what places you're going to. It felt like some places were skipped, some overlapped etc. I wasn't sure what the itinerary was. 2. Kate should be mic'd - when you asked her questions I wanted to hear the answers! :) 3. Shoot the places even without you in the footage and then do voiceover, especially if you're nervous in public to film. I would've like to see the inside of Magnolia Press, your drinks etc. Hope these help! :)
Loved the vlog! Fun to see a different style of video. For your next trip, you should go out to the Brimfield Antiques fair. There are 3 every year and the first one is in May. It’s also about 2 hours from the Hudson Valley, so you could hit up all the great antiques there.
Yes! I was just thinking this! Honestly would love to watch Paige vs Brimfield 🪑 but a drive back to LA from Mass would be killer lol, so no furniture… also it’s really crowded so would be A LOT of filming in public 🫣
We love the spontaneity with which you and Kate zipped over to Wacco and, yes, we understand why you wouldn't want to film in the shops. We would settle for some photos of whatever is in the six little "village" shops. We need to know more about those. Do you like how I am taking the liberty of speaking for all your fans? If you choose to travel farther east sometime, I would be happy to ask my stylish sister for Durham recommendations. She and I live for thrifting and hobby (passion) prop-styling. We will spend hours on our respective mantles when I am in Durham of she in Brooklyn. Of course, if you are even in Brooklyn, I will show you my favorite thrift spots.
Understandably it might be thinking too big but you and Kate going antiquing in like Italy or France sounds like a blast (and also v business trip because you are doing research for us all haha)
Love this and I need a beer spa visit for sure. Suggestions: interspersed still photos through the video like you did at the end to break up the filming and I wanted to know the prices for the things you bought at Roundtop. For another market visit, must come to New England for the Brimfield Flea Market in Massachusetts. May, July and September dates.
Paige, hope you are well… My suggestion; filming outside and trying to narrate what’s happening at the same time is overwhelming for anyone. I personally enjoy the type of videos that I can see everything and then the footage is voiceover. This might make it easier on you to film and is more pleasing to watch. ❤
Now I am wondering if I have a touch of Florida in my house...OH yeah, well duh my whole bathroom has a seashell "theme" which sounds much worse than it actually is. It's understated. It has a "sailor's valentine" theme. The tile is gray, the shower curtain and mat are white, and the walls above the (1950s) tile are a light peach color. I love it.

My friend you have to hit the crusty old barns and open fields in Warrenton, the town like 2 miles from Round Top - skip the snobby parts around Round Top they suck!!

This was fun to watch! The blanket and tiny pillow are wonderful as a little set. I'd be interested in your take on Louisville, KY (my home city), because people have gotten some real big ideas that we're a tourist town now. (Frankly, I despise both bourbon and horse-racing.) We do have a couple fun antique/flea-markets and dining and art. Plus some boutique hotels if you've got money.
OMG, great "out of the box" video, and loved it. And, also, what I really loved was the little round cutting board you found. So perfect, wish I had one. Hi, as a primitive and folk art dealer I can say it’s not Welch, they are American designs… they are called “overshot”… 1800s textiles used as blankets. In the south they are everywhere to the point you get sick of them lol.
Maybe go to all the biggest flea markets around the US, like Brimfield flea market in Mass, Montsweag Flea Market, in Maine, Elephant’s Trunk Flea Market in Connecticut…
You'd have to research if it's for you or not, but High Point Furniture Market is held once a year in High Point, NC. It gets tons of visitors but it's kind of a trade show.
